Horrible hospital and negligent palliative care team. When an 89yo lady is on her death bed in the final few days of pancreatic cancer, catatonic, heavily reliant on morphine for excruciating pain and hasn't eaten in 10 days...the hospital then decided she was well enough to be transferred to a nursing home despite saying she would die during the night a week prior. A nursing home was clearly not suitable for someone in this dire condition and yet after 2 weeks in hospital suddenly they deemed this appropriate in order to free the bed and in addition refused to transfer her to a suitable hospice care as the palliative care team decided she would somehow live another 10 weeks and they wont transfer you unless they deem you only have 2 weeks left. Hospice care would have done a much better job at managing her pain than the hospital. You don't have to be a doctor to know that people die very quickly from pancreatic cancer and that the elderly aren't going to live long in this condition. Its just common sense. Shocking lack of care and concern for a dying patient's welfare and comfort in her final days and lack of respect to the family. All that seems to matter is freeing up beds and they will lie and pressure the next of kin to try to free the bed. Disgraceful. After a few days of stalling with the hospital, she passed away as we expected. So much for those 10 weeks the hospital suddenly said she had. To add insult to injury, someone who worked at the hospital stole her mothers engagement ring that she was wearing when she died.
Avoid...admitted for right sided abdominal pain radiation to back and unable to eat. Transferred to FPH doctors were rude condescending and denied pain relief. Told they ran out of time to have prescription signed so had to go without pain relief overnight. Discharge letter was not completed in full and had wrong admit reason listed. Asked Dr for her name and was told kirsten from hep bil surgical team. Would not give any other details. Told my issue was not surgical. Have already been reassessed and determined my gall bladder needs to be removed. FPH should be ashamed of yourselves and FMC. Disgusting treatment of a patient absolutely inexcusable. Surgery to be done at ashford with a reputable surgeon.
At 84 I had fortunately never spent time in a hospital but after a bad fall recently I required surgery on my arms and cheekbone and was in the Flinders for over a week. Everyone who cared for me did so with kindness and understanding and made my stay as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. It's a credit to the hospital for having such dedicated compassionate staff who really do care and I would really like to thank everyone of them for taking such great care of me.
Currently staying here atm. I've had my fair share of hospital stays. This is my 1st time in Private. I have worked in a Private Hospital before. This is by far the best hospital experience I've ever had. The room and bathroom is great, the staff are amazing and the menu/food is awesome. If it wasn't for the terrible pain I'm in this would be like being on a holiday. I can't speak of this place and staff highly enough.
BEST HOSPITAL FOOD I’ve ever eaten in my whole life, highly recommend. Nice private rooms and views, quality beds and bedding. Night staff friendly and made me feel safe. First time I’ve ever raved about a hospital like that. The Doctor who was a sweet kind man in my post op after care was from FMC as FMC rents Flinders private hospital beds.
After knee replacement first night no bell, no nurse no help with toilet so it was long wet night. After countless complaints the bell was found to be disconnected 2 days later. Unforgivable after major surgery to be left unattended . 2 nurses were very good the rest appeared not to speak English. does not compare with St.Andrews.
Stay a FPH was a very positive experience. All Staff including nurses, hospitality ,and cleaning were great. I enjoyed my meals and even the coffee. My room was comfortable, roomy and clean the ward was very quiet especially at night. I could see nurses were busy but all my needs met extremely well.
Considering staff shortages and the strain on the health sector at this time I was very happy with the care given to me by Dr Anthony Samson’s team. The kitchen fed me hearty meals despite my many food allergies and I am truly grateful for that. The ward was clean and organised. Thankyou everyone.
Dr Sandy Craig is an amazing doctor, he went above and beyond and help me, and made a call to assure positive feedback of my results, wonderful doctor and very knowledgeable! Highly recommend for anyone wanting to see a specialist who truly cares for his patient! Thank you so much! B.Z
I had my surgery yesterday and just had to share the wonderful Drs and Nursing staff who looked after a very anxious lady . Thank you each and everyone of you . You truly are so caring . Kindness regards , Mary O Riordan. ☘️☘️ …
Fantastic professional service received from the medical staff when my daughter needed to go there. Very pleased with the quality and approachable nature of the staff. Love the children areas, not many hospitals bother catering for children
Just feel the need too write here that I received really good care when suffering a health issue this week. I had visited the ED a few too many times that I would have liked but on my last day I was in a lot of pain and felt the staff did
Just discharged after overnight operation. Yesterday I arrived at Flinders at 11.30am as requested but had to wait for eleven hours before my turn. So why do I give Flinders 5 stars? It's because they had a day full of crises in theatre,
Doctors and all staff can't be faulted. Fantastic. My only complaint is having gold standard cover and I don't get a private room. This sends my anxiety through the roof. After last hospital stay was in the great Calvary in a great room.
Some of the nurses can be really harsh when you’ve had surgery. Waiting times at Dr Ganu’s clinic (gynaecologist) are beyond ridiculous!! She makes you wait almost 2 hours before inviting you into her clinic. No consideration for time.
I am currently in hospital having chemo for CLL. The attention I am receiving is awsome from doctors and nurses. I had a very bad day yesterday for start of my drug but today as I am dosed up again things are great. So clean and caring
Rate Change/Edit :: Originally 1 star, a friend was put in healthcare there and had a completely different experience to mine. Glad to see my friend fine and that what I *assumed* to be the general normal, was really not.
Excellent care, room and food, nurses are wonderful. I was admitted 2 months ago for 3 or 4 nights but ended up being there for 2 weeks and going in again next week for further surgery. Highly recommend, cannot fault.
Wonderful care. Great nurses. Good food, which was surprising, given it is a hospital. The only annoyance was it was impossible to get a hot cup of tea. Always luke warm at best, not sure why this was so difficult.
Place is full of Karen nurses, being rude to patients, ignoring basic needs. And don't get me started on the kitchen staff, they are next level incompetent. Highly Recommended if you want a terrible experience.
Been here over 7 days for a "day surgery" their excuse? I proper broke my wrist.. so why not fix it? Not important enough. The nurses are 70% nice and lovely 30% completely useless, inconsiderate, and
Total knee replacement. Blown away by the care, competence and kindness of every member of staff - receptionists, cleaners caterers - the food is terrific -, nurses and surgeon. Thank you.
Great experience considering the circumstances. I broke my ankle overseas and was admitted soon as I landed in Adelaide. They were kind, understanding and quick acting with my treatment.
After having total knee replacement surgery . I have to say that the treatment I received at Flinders private’s hospital was second to none. From the surgeon to the Anaesthetics to the
Was an in patient and an out patient during my breast cancer and the staff were compassionate, kind and empathetic towards myself and my husband every time.
Meals.. main meals were inedible. Also 2 out of 3 meals were asian based. Thought spicy food was not a standard for hospital meals. No private room either
Left soiled bedpan on bathroom sink for 3 days ) : No hot water at night. Do not read one’s admission form to ascertain what medications are being taken
Had a operation Sunday arvo couldn’t of been in better hands Excellent surgeons staff nurses and top aftercare well looked after in 5D
I feel very humbled by my stay great stall surgeon’s Thankyou so so much
