I have been coming to Folio for several years since moving to Noe Valley. Today I returned a book after mentioning the huge price difference that I found online. I returned the book only 10 minutes after buying it. I wanted to save money. Paul used insults, calling me cheap for returning it for that purpose. I asked if he was kidding. He told me that he was not. I live here and this is my neighborhood bookstore, but unfortunately I will not be back. I have updated this review to 5 stars based on the response from the business/owner.

This place is the nicest, friendliest, retail experience ever. It's my 8 year old son's home away from home. They're kind enough to let him go back behind the counter to special order books with the friendly staff. They make fantastic recommendations. They do lovely seasonal merchandizing and also incredible gift-wrapping. Store is clean, family-friendly and has so much more humanity and warmth than buying books from the robots that run Amazon. Spend an extra dollar to have a human experience in local Noe Valley retail gem.

Popped in to see about finding a book suitable for our nephew turning 14. Found a book that looked good but didn't know anything about the author or what the book was about. The person on duty was familiar with the book and recommended it as age appropriate. I was impressed with her knowledge of the book and it's author. I'm sure that our nephew will like this book because of what we heard about it. We'll be coming back for more of our book needs!

A Noe Valley treasure! Super friendly and knowledgeable staff oversee a well-curated selection of books for all ages. They can order anything for you and it's easy and pleasant to pick up. They even now have a pandemic-driven but super handy online order process so that you can skip Amazon and buy the book you want at any time of day or night and then head on in to collect it.

Every time we're in the neighborhood waiting for brunch we come here. My husband loves book stores. Generally, he leaves with a book, no matter the bookstore. Folio has a great selection of books for children, and they always have books related to current upcoming holidays or events. I ALWAYS leave with a book for my classroom :)

The poets, Doreen Stock and Claudia Chapline, read their work and talked about their incredible lives last night and while they are not without recognition in their own lives, Noe Valley was blessed with their presence and their thought provoking work. Thank you Judy and Ramone. Steve Anderson

What more could we ask of a Noe Valley bookstore? Well, besides a good stock of books purveyed by friendly and knowledgeable staff with an owner who's a gifted bookseller and delightful woman who manages to find abstruse volumes for me. Besides, it's clean and well lighted.

They had a very random cookbook that I have not been able to find and there it was… sitting in the window! Also, they still ask people to mask which I appreciate so much. The pandemic is not over and it’s a VERY simple respectful thing to do.

Great selection of books (at least from a teenager’s perspective) and cool nicknacks as well. The people who work there are really friendly! My (very small) dog loves coming with me to Folio because they sometimes give him treats :>

Nice little bookshop in Noe Valley which great people and a fantastic book cart in the from with fantastic deals. Wish it was bigger but I appreciate what we have and just having a bookshop in the neighborhood is great for me!

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, good children's selection. It's pretty small and if you're looking for something unusual they may not have it, but they'll order it. Author readings for adults and kids and an email newsletter.

This book store is awesome! They have a kids area with chairs to read and a fort! The selection is great. They even had books from web comic authors like Kate Beaton and Zach Weinersmith! Beatrice was super-nice and helpful!

Great little neighborhood bookstore with a well curated selection of titles. It is important to support your local bookstore and other mom and pop retail businesses, as opposed to giving your money to the Waltons and Bezos.

The guy that was working there really does care and is enthusiastic about his job. He also recommended us visit Green Apple books which ended up being amazing as well.
