"Parking is disgusting, waited 20 for a spot just to have someone else take it from me"
"Nice and clean on the inside, good selection of vegetables and fruits and dry goods, but missing a lot of bakery items and frozen products, no oven roasted chickens here either"
"Pretty decent for grocery shopping, given the location/area"
"Hahaha! Look, they have a fresh supply of rotten eggplants today! I've never seen so many rotten eggplants on one shelf and in the middle of the season! And look how they display them with pride as if that's how they should be! Marketing at it's best! Leopard eggplants and tiger bananas for 20% more than any other store in town! Is this a statement about the people who live here? Or is it just unqualified management? #foodbasics #overpriced #rotteneggplants!"
"Went in today April 2, 2023 - All 1% lactose free Milk with an expiry date of March 21 were on the shelf"
Parking is disgusting, waited 20 for a spot just to have someone else take it from me. Today is the day I decided I’m done shopping here. I’ve shopped here despise of the stores exterior is always surrounded by pigeons and the heavy odour of someone pissing in the front of the store walking to nd from the parking lot, The interior there’s always a small smell of something gone foul, the front doors are always broken, 8-10 registers but only 2 open. Staff look like they’re not happy to even be there. I have never really complained about a store until today. The only thing good about this store is that it’s convenient.
Nice and clean on the inside, good selection of vegetables and fruits and dry goods, but missing a lot of bakery items and frozen products, no oven roasted chickens here either. Some of the employees at the cash register seem very demotivated, but I guess I can't blame them, also there's no self-checkout. The location itself is very convenient but the outside needs some serious repairs. I know that a reno is coming soon, so it's only a matter of time. As for the prices, they can't be beat, so I'll keep going!
Pretty decent for grocery shopping, given the location/area. Produce is hit or miss - just need to know what to look for. Cashiers and staff have been helpful when looking for certain items. Overall selection is average but the savings are usually quite good. I know most places are phasing out grocery bags, but I’m glad this store still provides them for an additional charge! Can’t really complain about this place since it’s the most convenient for me to get to.

Went in today April 2, 2023 - All 1% lactose free Milk with an expiry date of March 21 were on the shelf. - All the cherry tomatoes were pruning or molding over. Management needs to fix these basic issues. This is an on going issue specifically at this location. I want this location to succeed and stay around because the prices are competitive, but there's a No Frills and Freshco near by that have less of these issues.
The exterior needs an overhaul but if you are choosing your grocery store based on exterior cosmetics you are probably superficial and can go pay stupid prices for the same meals that are frankly a saving grace right now. The prices are good the presentation is utilitarian but I got substantially a much bigger bang for my buck then you could get at Galen Weston’s greedy chain of loblaws and no frills . Go save money !
I was a great fan of the Food Basic grocery chain until I visited this one. Unfortunately, it's hard to find a shopping cart if you park your car and want to bring your grocer to the trunk. Staff do not always say Hello with a nice smile since they have to deal with a lot of different varieties of customers! The neighborhood/location is not so clean. A Freshco on Sherbourne Street is much better than this one, sorry.
Good products but not that good service I got. The employees are not that helpful and, most of the times grumpy whole answering your queries. The billing, too, had an issue with one of my purchase where they charged 10 dollars more to me. Didn't like the way they behaved and handled the situation. Super 8 is a good campaign to avail. Store doesn't hold the product shkwn in weekly flyers.
I love going to food basics to do my food shopping but they need to change up their habits of keeping their salads kit on the shelves when they go bad and this is not a 1 time thing that I've seen this. This has happened quite a bit and it's a throw off to see this. I go to food basics because it's close to home, their prices are reasonable and the staff are wonderful people
The condition of the front door and exterior is deterring potential customers from visiting your store. The unclean and unpleasant appearance of the store signs is giving off a negative impression to the neighborhood, making it appear sketchy. Enhancing the exterior of your store will not only attract more customers but also elevate the overall perception of the neighborhood.
It's not too bad. Prices are reasonable. However, there is a cashier working there and she has been working there for a long time. SHe is black , slightly heavy and I have noticed that she plays favorites with customers - especially customers who are white and showing them much more friendliness. It seems odd but she really has to do some soul searching.
I used to joke that this didn't even live up to the low expectation set by the name. I popped in recently and things have improved. It was cleaner, the shelves were stocked. I would opt to shop at Freshco before I would shop here - mostly because the selection here is very limited. It's kind of like shopping at an IGA in a small town in the the 1970s.
Its not the best food basics out there but its not bad. Lines can get very longs at times. Especially on the weekends. It would be nice to have the cashiers actually working instead of having only 2 cashiers. So items on the flyer you can’t find in this food basics. One example is the halal ground beef tubes. Other than that its ok.
Somehow, I didn't feel their service friendly, approcked an associate, and was told check at the back of the store.I said I checked didn't see it, can you please show me and that time I was told I dont work in that section, look for a guy in that section. Not that customer friendly. Is it? I hope management reads this comment.
Really convenient (if you live nearby). Prices are pretty good mainly because it caters to a lower income range. The store is neat, well stocked and feels professional. I recall in the 1990s, before Food Basics moved in, the previous brand name store was run by ignorant trailer trash.
Vegetables and fruits there is in a very good prices, the quality is perfect, the bakery section is organized with to much varieties, i love the brioche bun and the bagels there brand Select is so delicious and the Select cheese is always up to my standards. I definitely recommend it
Best prices around this neighborhood- store terribly run - blame head office or management ?? - help is hard to find; cashiers are usually friendly & efficient - staying off their phones would also help - usually decent stock - produce pretty decent
Food Basics, a staple in the grocery retail landscape, consistently provides a no-frills shopping experience with a focus on affordability. The store's layout is straightforward, making navigation easy for customers looking to efficiently
Hi, I was not able to find the Expresso ground coffee, the Yogurt and the Raw Honey and last but not least the Gain Laundry Liquid Detergent/Softener . I even asked the floor support employee. No luck sold out l was told.
Five in everything They have the cheapest product compare to other places They also located near the food bank so that makes sense why its relatively cheaper They dont have 10% student discounts
Good discounts on the food products and very affordable their own "selection" line up without compromising on quality. However, the freshness and cost of vegetables are areas to be work on.
Lots of items on sale and every dollar helps, especially for seniors. Clean and bright, very helpful staff. Hasn't changed, feels like a friendly neighbourhood grocery store.
Today at 8:00pm I went to my near shop food basics to buy a vegetable oil and it is 9.48$ So unfortunately I bought 10$ in coins so while I was paying to the cashier, the
Well, I use a walker and I am treated with dignity and customer loyalty. This place is a diamond in the rough, especially Monica. …
Good place to buy groceries. Pricing is competitive and nice variety of Indian food. Check out their weekly flyer for some amazing deals.
Looking for discount yes this is the one which you're seeking for has lot of discounts on mukti products with excellence quality.
Store was not clean and people were not friendly.. I proffer other locations like Thorncliff , Victoria Park and Shepard. .
Inexpensive groceries and good range of products. Staff is bit rude. Billing takes 10-15mins due to shortage of staff.
There's never cashier's on. Now down to 1 cashier everytime I go in. The shelves are empty after first day of flier.
Fast, friendly, good produce and prices, and all the shopping neighbours looking like Toronto.
They have affordable groceries but selection, cleanliness and convenient hours are lacking
Was very happy recently with a billing error. Kind, hard working staff. Love it.
Prices have risen here, Now more expensive than FreshCo for alot of things.
I bought food here. Staff was not so friendly, but that's the way she goes
3 stars for parking otherwise not really a cool food basics!
They always have what I'm looking for at a great price.
Good prices not much varaiety for same item
Cheaper prices than most other stores.
