Foodies Deli Cafe is a very large cafe with plenty of seating both inside and out. They have some cool interior decorative features like a huge food mural on the ceiling and the Foodies sign on top of a green foliage centrepiece. There's a lot of people in here on a Sunday morning but we were seated quickly. It took 5 minutes for anyone to come over but the staff apologised about the wait. Drinks and breakfast was on our wishlist this morning. For drinks, the caramel milkshake (5/5) wasn't too sweet and is served straight out of the metal mixer cup. The piccolo (5/5) tastes as good as it looks! Both came out within minutes of ordering. For breakfast we ordered the Feasting Board and the the Hangover. The food took 30 minutes (one Pokemon Go lure) to come out. We had finished our drinks way before food had arrived. I feel like that may be the normal wait time as there was no apology for the wait. The Hangover (3/5) was a combination of a lot of good breakfast favourites, but it was very oily and the kale was just too overpowering. The chipotle mayo was nice. If I had a real hangover I would have been a little disappointed. The Feasting Board (3/5) had everything! The lamb sausage was nice. However the scrambled eggs was made more like an omlet and was dry. There was way too much kale and barely any spinach. Boards after mine leaving the kitchen looked a lot better in quality. The service from the staff was great but we feel like they forgot about our order. The place looks nice but they struggle at capacity.

The most shocking experience I have had at a cafe to date. New owner took over, all new staff. Ordered my usual breakfast and coffee. The coffee happened to be burnt, so I asked for another one. As my friends one was okay. The second one that came was also burnt, so I told the waitress not to worry about it. My friend has tasted both just to make sure that I wasn't wrong. Then the owner came to us and asked who's coffee was burnt, to which I replied it was mine. He stared arguing with me that it wasn't burnt. So I asked him to taste it himself and see, before assuming something. Then he is saying again it's not burnt, but whatever he will take it off the bill. I would like to say that it is not about 'saving' $3.50 on a coffee, when the reason you go out for breakfast is to have a good coffee- which has always been the case, prior to the new guy taking over. Then we go to pay and ask to split the bill, to which he then replies ' oh nah, it's too busy to be splitting' bills now. Just the rudeness and abruptness of this person is beyond me. Foodies did not win all their awards previously, for acting like such morons. Don't ruin it now with a nasty attitude... Such a shame

Went to foodies for breakfast, food was okay until there was hair in our plate. Called the waiter over and showed him the hair and was told he will let the guys know. Not one owner or manager came up to apologize, went to go pay and brought up why are we paying for a meal that had hair in it. The barrister or one of the rude owners denied any hair and thought we wanted a free meal. We paid and told him there won't be a next time. Either the waiter covered for his mate, or you were delusional to the fact there was a hair in that plate and my wife stopped eating when she noticed? Anyways... Different owners to the original ones foodies use to be. Should also remove best Sydney's cafe 2012, since the new owners are rude and in denial and had no part winning something 9 years ago. Maybe I should invite both the owners at foodies to my house and see if they will eat my food with my hair in their plate. Some people should not be in hospitality.

Changing this review from a 4/5 to a 1/5. Here's why: - Waited an hour for our food because they forgot to start cooking it. - Every time I asked the manger for a chair or even just table water he would say "yeah yeah no worries" then walk off and completely pretend you never said anything. - Meals felt rushed, they forgot my sauce and got meals mixed up and didn't listen to the orders (no mushrooms, came with mushrooms). Came back later on and asked for a take-away Iced Coffee, the owner made it; literally shoved 2 icecreams, coffee shot in a cup then threw the spoon inside and fell to the bottom, didn't blend it or anything. It tasted disgusting ! absolutely bitter and what is sad is that this place used to be fantastic and come a lot but now its just gone down hill and the attitude has changed completely. Won't be returning, nor will the rest of us.

Such a bad service, not recommend you all to walk in this shop. if you walk in this shop, this owner would ask you have some industry ethic and empathy with them not to mention their terrible service. When I was sitting in the shop, a waiter took our order, but just let us order drink then asked us order food later, said cause kitchen is busy. I still saw some waitress wondering around, it’s not that busy. No one should understand how to work in hospitality industry, that’s your own problem, if you can’t serve well then you shouldn’t put that many tables let customers sitting there and ignored them. What kind of this arrogant attitude like you demand customers should have empathy with you? what a joke

Don't give them your time or money. We arrived just before lunch and all tables were full with one couple ahead of us waiting. We were advised there's a bit of a wait which we happily agreed to. The couple ahead of us were almost immediately seated and after about 10mins of waiting a table freed up. Another couple arrived at that point and entered, ignoring the queue, and the waitress seated them at the free table without so much as a glance toward those of us waiting. Extremely rude so we went around the corner where they appreciate people's time.

The obviously quite proud of the small business awards on display for best cafe etc... I wasn't overly impressed. The coffee was a little above average - but the biggest mistake was the bacon and egg roll. Who leaves the rind on the bacon? First bite into at and I got the part of the rind that hadn't become crispy - I've got tough teeth but even they took a while to get through the rubber band and I ended up with 90% of the contents of the roll on the side plate it was served on. What a mess. Flavour wise, nice bacon eggs and roll.

This place used to be an awesome cafe when it was run by the previous owner. It had an amazing vibe to it and the food was well presented and delicious. You would drive 30 mins just to have the pleasure of eating at this cafe. Now, it is just an average cafe with overpriced far-from-delicious food. This place will never be what it used to be. The Google rating of 4.2 was from good reviews posted many years ago whilst it was under previous management. So don't be fooled by it. We definitely won't be going back ever again.

Been going here for years, always great service. Warm, efficient, happy to help. Food has been consistently excellent. Great menu, creative and tasty food. Fair, big portions and value for money. Thanks to the team at Foodies for running such a great venue, appreciate all your hard work.

Excellent food and only the "First" grade coffee here. Lovely atmosphere with quality local people dining here unlike others nearby who are frequented by out of area undesirables with gold chains! The new chef and menu has definitely cemented It's position as the best cafe in Sandringham as it always has. It's pleasing to see with the new management it's busier than the other place. People have finally realised cheap is not better!

Best cafe in the area. We come here once a month and the food is consistently good. Always get the big breakfast - a proper big breakfast with eggs my way, bacon, mushroom, avocado, tomato, halloumi, hash browns and toast. Coffee is great, juices are awesome too. One thing that always impresses us is that the guy making the coffee behind the counter is always says hello and goodbye.

Nice cafe. Food has always been really good and menu is solid with quite a lot of options. Was there again last weekend for afternoon "breakfast" and it was perfect. Nice location with fresh sea air making it a great place to get a bite and chill. Main negative is it's busy, hard to get a seat and a little squashed at times so outside peak meal times is better but otherwise it's always been a good experience overall.

  • Gaith Bader

What can I say; from the owner to all the staff they are nice, polite, friendly and always with a smile. They are super child friendly and the food is great. Try their fresh juices which are yummy; I recommend the Immune combination. If I want to bring picky their toilet is a tad grubby, but it's being renovated, though they made it much smaller than before, to a point that I wish they reconsider!

The other cafes may come and go but Foodies has been and always will be the premier place in the Sandringham strip to enjoy simply superb coffee and food if you are a connoisseur. Definitely has a higher class clientele too and you can always be assured of a great table with a view here. Thoroughly recommended.

This cafe embodies the cool & hip vibe of the many top cafes you would find in Surry Hills/Darlinghurst and the food doesn’t disappoint either! I love the decor from the coffee sack cushions to the Brasserie Bread box behind the counter. Here you’ll also find you can purchase gourmet and organic products. It used to be a cool place, with good coffe and food. I haven't been there for a while so I thought I would pop in for a coffee. Firstly I got charged $5 for a latte and not to mention the coffe was terrible - probably one of the worst in the area. Later I realised the place had the change of owners. It has got a long way to go to get to the old glory days!

  • Nathan Heston

Had the antipasto plate for 2 which was very good. One of the best I've had. Coffee always consistent. Staff courteous and professional. Location is good being just a short walk to botany bay. Nice cool breezes off the water make their way around to Foodies which is sheltered from the hot sun in the afternoon, but faces the sunrise in the morning

  • Hamish Stephenson

Absolutely horrendous cafe. One of the worst cafes I've been to in Sydney. Not only did they take 90 minutes to deliver us three burgers, they were cold and stale once they got to our table. When we asked the owner for a refund, he got extremely aggressive. As frequenters of the area, we will never go back and will advise others not to as well.

  • Chris Attwood

Great food and a warm efficient welcome. Dropped in here for brunch on a weekend and was immediately greeted at the door and seated. Coffee orders were taken promptly and returned quickly. Food was from a menu new that day and was really good. We both liked the attitudes and the food and would def go back next time we are in the area.

The coffee is very nice here. The kitchen serves good breakfast and the outside seating is fantastic when the weather cooperates. Cannot comment on anything but breakfast and coffee. Can get a good feed with a coffee or two for less than $30 so it won't normally break the bank. Recommend you try this place.

Always greeted with the smile by Tony and Rob and the staff. The food and service are great! Even when their kitchen is already closed for the day they always try to accomodate with alternative food options. Thanks Tony and Rob!!

Went to foodies over the long weekend. The place was absolutely packed, being in hospitality myself, my eyes are always everywhere and this place didn’t disappoint. The food and coffee was amazing the staff energetic and friendly, would recommend this place to everyone. Looking forward to going back

  • Christopher nour

Friendly Staff and service was great! Food however was extremely overpriced and of very poor quality and standards. Acai bowl came 1/4 full and mostly melted for $19. Ice mocha was a ridiculous $9. I'm happy to pay a premium if the food was at least good. Otherwise much better options in the area

  • KIK 128

Quite a snobbish cafe. I went to pay and was surprised at the amount for four people. When clarifying the items, a staff member proceeded to explain to me what a iced cofee was! " You know coffee in a tall glass with ice in it" was that really necessary? Voting with my feet and not coming back

  • Sam Lang

I'm a local and love the coffee the juices and the food, the service is amazing and the people so lovely. Today I tried the kale salad omg was delicious ❤️❤️❤️ they always remember my juice and coffee order and always quick thankyou everyone can't rave about it enough ❤️❤️❤️ …

Wow! Popped in to the newly renovated shop. The fit out is amazing. New owners, Great coffee, great food. MUST try the Soft Serve Açai bowl. Omg the flavour & texture is amazing. Definitely coming back for the rest of the menu.

Excellent Vege Pan! There was grilled mushroom, haloumi and just delicious spinach. We went on a Sunday and there was just so many people which gave it a vibrant feel to the place. The Hot Chocolate was a do-it-yourself drink which made it quite interesting. Great service overall.

  • Peter Chen

New owners. This place used to be an institution. Same menu but the food is horrible. Ordered the eggs Benedict. Hollandaise tasted like it came from a packet. Eggs were cold and hard boiled. Literally rock hard. Spinach so salty it was inedible. Will never ever come here again.

  • Bec Jae

This place has been a bit hit and miss for me personally. The coffee is Gabriel, I have had some delicious espresso on the rotating showcase, but the food has only been okay, exciting sounding combos but just very bland and the gluten free bread is awful. Staff are lovely.

If you're wanting to sit back and relax with a fresh and flavoursome meal this is the place for you. Outdoor seating so pooches welcome. Food took a while to come out (20 mins?) and average meal is around $20, but the food was fantastic and a decent size serving.

  • Benjamin Wade

Standout service from the waitresses, fresh spinach not frozen like other places, price was fair and expected, only complaint was the barista thought I received my coffee when I hadn't and questioned it, without that its a 3 for service, other then that, brilliant

  • steve connor

Well what can I say about this place Food and Coffee is as good today as the day it opened. It has won best cafe in Australia. It is always packed you may struggle to get a table on the weekend. I have only eaten here twice and both times the food was awesome.

  • Kerli Nguyen

Used to be a regular customer for their coffee and food, but new owner made a dramatic change to both menu and the decorations, it doesn't feel the same anymore, not so local. Food is average, coffee 6/10 and still expensive :( I will miss the old foodies

  • Lauretta Cerizza

I wouldn't go there if you paid me. The owner is so full of it don't even know how he even gets the fee vudyomers he has. As a previous business owner myself you need to be honest and need to be genuine. The service is shocking and the coffee is terrible

Absolutely love Foodie's! We have a few local cafes around us, but this is definitely the best of the bunch. Food and coffee is consistently great and Tony, Rob & the staff have the kind of customer service that brings us back time and time again.

  • James Rule

Good coffee, generous portions of nice food which is well presented, friendly staff and a nice décor. Only fault is that when it's busy it feels crowded and abit squishy (many tables in a not so large space). Would definitely recommend regardless.

  • David Linke

Always a great Breakfast or lunch time meal. Just need to change or update their menu occasionally, as locals you get tired of the same old meals. Best coffee by far. Yes its busy on weekends, why, because it has the right vibe and is good.

New owners, the customer service is one of the worse in the area. The staff looks at you and looks away, especially the people behind the counter. Previous owner and staff you get the local cafe feel, now is completely diffeeent

  • Mia

Can't fault this local and busy cafe. Always order takeaway from here so we can sit by the near-by water. Their coffee is great and I definitely recommend their hangover burger (filled with bacon, egg, avo and more - so good!)

  • Indiana Reed

Such a shame they've sold to new owners. It's now sterile and white like a hospital and charges $20 for a sandwich and $19 for an acai bowl. What's this place go downhill :( have been coming here for years and won't come back.

  • phillip bross

Very popular place, which is understandable as they greet you with a smile and provide a good range of light snacks and main meals. As you can see by our yummy hamburger, crunchy chips and Mediterranean style roasted veggies.

  • meg alexander

a bit noisy, but that's okay. the food is amazing!! i usually don't like salads and i tried the haloumi salad, it was the best thing i've ever tasted. the staff are really nice, the presentation is fantastic. 1000% recommend

The menu lacks anything interesting for breakfast, it’s very ordinary, with a name like foodies you expect more imaginative choices. Having said that the food that is on the menu is done well. Great service, average coffee.
