"I decided to join my local Forest Hill library this afternoon and a lovely young lady registered me and gave me my cards etc"
"This has always been a good little library to spend some study time, or to take the children to get better acquainted with the joys of reading"
"I really like this library, it isnt massive but it does have a good selection of books"
"As a volunteer here I can confirm that it is a very clean, well stocked and friendly environment"
"It's the loudest library I have ever been in! The staff are talking to each other across the stacks discussing about going home early! There is currently a child running up and down the slope into the children's section screaming! Neither the staff or her relative is putting a stop to it! However it is a nice building, which is clean and tidy!"
I decided to join my local Forest Hill library this afternoon and a lovely young lady registered me and gave me my cards etc... I took out 2 books to borrow and explained to the librarian that I would be away from March 2020 and whether the books could be issued for a few weeks as I was not sure if I could renew them online. I explained Dulwich Library had the facility to do that and whether Forest Hill do too.The guy very rudely told me he doesn’t care what Dulwich library does but he would not be able to do so and that I would have to be fined if I brought them back late. I said I didn’t want the books at which he said he would check and found that he could issue them until 03/04/20. His attitude was very rude and confrontational, saying that others who wanted the books had priority over me. One of the books was old and well used albeit the other was probably new. Once I finished the books and returned them I will not be using the library again even as this is my local library. This is just not the way to speak to the over 60s or the vulnerable in our community
This has always been a good little library to spend some study time, or to take the children to get better acquainted with the joys of reading. Plenty of shops opposite should you require a tummy filler. Moreover there are not bad public transport links with the 194 stopping directly outside. Swimming baths next door too! My only issue is if you decide to drive, parking spaces are always limited and you may find yourself subject to a parking ticket.
I really like this library, it isnt massive but it does have a good selection of books. You can also reserve books from other libraries which is really useful. It's usually quiet and there are lots of chairs/sofas to sit on. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers for making this library so good! This library is also a 'Warm Space' for people. I can confirm that it is actually warm inside :)
As a volunteer here I can confirm that it is a very clean, well stocked and friendly environment. They have a lovely selection of books to choose from and a range of computers for your easy access. The library has a wheelchair accessible entrance and clean public toilets, and helpful, friendly staff willing to help. It is very child friendly and has various children/baby groups and book clubs.
It's the loudest library I have ever been in! The staff are talking to each other across the stacks discussing about going home early! There is currently a child running up and down the slope into the children's section screaming! Neither the staff or her relative is putting a stop to it! However it is a nice building, which is clean and tidy!
Great community library, especially the children's section at the back. Loads of books for all ages and a nice space for little ones to explore with beanbags, a mirror tunnel and little tables and chairs. Top tip - make sure you register your child for their own library card, they don't have to pay overdue fees!
Lovely library, and the opening times are good too, until 7.30pm in the week on some of the days which is fantastic. There is a good selection of adult and children's books and computer facilities. You can reserve books for collection as well. There is an accessible toilet available too.
Well, I tried to print 15 before they close and apparently the system is locking down at 1545... sad, very sad excuse... getting books is ok... but not printing... it doesn’t make any sense for me. 2019 and still using the old excuses
Great library, it has a accessible toilet and entrances. Humble staff, and has a range of adults and teenager books. Plus, they have free activities for the toddlers and young children. Will come next time.
it's an old library and I went there to find library friend group. There's volunteer there and gave me more information about the library. No password for wifi which not like the other 's need number card.
Great Library. The WiFi is fast, big desks with lots of plugs for your laptop. Perfect for studying. Also lots of public computers if needed. It’s a public library so anyone can go in.
Good library which has been a big part of the local community for a long time. Could do with a lick of paint + expansion of the study areas. Good place to sit and get some work done.
I had my first ever painting exhibition there today and the turnout was very impressive. It marked a beautiful moment in my painting career which started shortly before COVID-19.
Forest Hill library is my favourite library in the borough. The staff there are always very helpful, professional and friendly. I always feel happy when I go there! …
Helpful and friendly staff. Good general stock for a small library, covering different ages, demographics and needs. Good quiet place to read or work. Wifi of course.
Love that place! Every tuesday at 10am they have nursery rhythms for babies(completely free) It's a fantastic place to keep your little ones busy & entertained!
Great library, well located, friendly staff and lots of study space with charging points. The barista in the coffee shop is fantastic too!
Lovely space with helpful team, and such a lovely garden out back. We had a little work meeting there and it was a joyous space to be.
Now reincarnated as a community library, the volunteers couldn't have been more helpful. Looking forward to new developments there
I have been using FH library a lot to study. It's generally quiet, a lovely building and the librarians are really helpful
Great friendly library. Very helpful volunteers who make the experience for the kids just that extra special.
The library is quite old now. Hey have old books old and slow computers. However the staff are nice.
Unhelpful, incompetent staff, shambolic system. Wouldn't cry a tear if they closed it down. 0 star.
Good library (keep it open!) but very noisy if you are trying to study.
Love that this is a community space, my toddler loves it here too :)
