We've ridden for family business and pleasure, and it has been a mixed bag overall. For the most part, the staff (especially on board the train) have been kind and helpful. The trick is to do your homework, and find out everything you can before you get to the station. Parking is almost always a nightmare around the station in downtown FW, which is soooo weird, you would think they would have plenty of designated parking, but no, so if possible have a friend drive you there and drop you off. Especially if you have suitcases! Even the ones with wheels suffer when you're running for your train. Pre-purchase all possible tickets, pre-plan all possible transportation issues, pre-book hotels, etc. Typical travel headaches and not that any of that is helped by Amtrak, but hey, at least for the most part Amtrak isn't getting in the way, and the T(RE) folks aren't actually trying to piss you off. Just remember that, and unpack your patience along the way. Folks, we've gotta have transit, and the sooner we all begin to embrace it and ride it the sooner the fees will be paying for more and better. Europe absolutely puts us to shame in this area. It is easily the one big problem for anyone visiting this country that they cannot easily hop a train (or bus, or light rail, or subway) and get where they need to be. Don't be afraid, just be sensible, do your homework, and all will be well enough in time.
This was my daughter who is 5 years of age and I first time riding the train so it was an exciting experience. So I'm going to give you the pros and cons in my opinion. The pros were that the train arrived on time, it was clean for the most part, I ordered a signature steak and it was delicious, wasn't too noisy, and the staff were friendly when I had any questions, lots of leg room, and loved the fact I could move around freely, and the ac temperature was just right for me and the Wifi was great except is some locations I couldnt get service but it didnt last for long, and the tickets were pretty reasonable. The cons were the bathroom was kind of nasty, although the steak was delicious it was smaller than I expected, the food prices were kind of pricey, and if you get a pizza from the cafe part expect to get a microwaved pizza. So word of advice: bring a pillow and small blanket, bring lots of snacks or your own food aboard, something to keep you entertained, your phone charger, keep your personal belongings with you at all times and sit/lay back and enjoy the ride!!
In my experience the FTW station staff expect people traveling to know what they as staff know about the trains so they aren't very open to being asked questions. I felt as if I were bothering them when I needed to inquire. Responses are usually curt and sometimes not very helpful. Other passengers were actually more helpful. Signage is either lacking or not readily instructive for newcomers to train travel. The train staff were great but my station staff experience left a lot to be desired. On the upside the restrooms were clean and plenty of seating for the wait between trains plus they have a very nice Subway shop for grabbing a quick meal.
The Amtrak station is clean and well main tained, except for the mens room which was dirty, 2 stalls available one of which does not have a door. There is a subway in the station that is clean and the workers were friendly. The people coming in and out on the other hand ... The ride from okc to ftw was a nice ride. The coach seats have plenty of leg room, foot stools you can pull out, recliner foot stool you can pull out, and recline. Charging outlets at every window seat. It was clean and well maintained. The cafe car was reasonably priced. Over all a pleasant experience. Carol was an amazing cafe car hostess!
Absolutely the best way to travel! I live in the DFW area & have family in OKC. The Heartland Flyer is hands down the best way to get there! Relax. Let someone else drive. Plug in your electronics to charge. Of course you'll get spotty cell service in certain areas, but I like the quiet so I can turn on my music, plug into my earbuds lean back in the roomy seat, and take a nap. I have been happy with every trip I've taken on the Heartland Flyer. The people are wonderful, the food is great (but you're welcome to bring your own), and the place is comfortable.
Love the Fort Worth Bus Depot!! It's right in the heart of downtown and extremely efficient in estimating time arrivals and departures. I learned to ride the Trinity Metro lines in about a week with the help of Google Maps and a monthly bus pass that cost approximately $80 per month. *Well worth such a pricey investment if you lack a motor vehicle!!* I carry pepper spray...well cuz I'm a country girl in the big city lol and it's smart. I've never felt unsafe on a bus yet, but I do see an excitable intermixture of individuals.
The train ride from fort worth to San Antonio was nice. However it should be noted on the AMTRAK website and tickets that checked baggage should be BEFORE 45 minutes prior to departure. I was 3 minutes late and they refused to take my bag. Luckily it was one bag and Texas eagle has enough room to accommodate. Trip home(san ann to fort Worth) I'll be there an hour and half early for a stupid bag check. Also this station (fort worth) had a lot of vagrants outside, so stick inside the station then head straight to the train.
The Fort Worth Amtrak Station is a lovely place. The city here is also famously one of high, modern structures. The train station is, however, just a variation of the standard these of tracks and platforms. I was familiar with this city already for I'd followed the podcast of a photographer who lives here. He's photographed just about every inch of Fort Worth. As wonderous as this station was, we'd just arrived from the much more stimulating Dallas Amtrak station, so it was good finally to board the train and move on.
Love the train experience however employees should a bit more pleasant..they have always looked like they dont enjoy thier job and dont want to be here dont like answering questions they just sell you your ticket and may as say effyou..have a nice day. It's that way..since I first came here in 2011..never changed. It's sort of like they could care less..a train experience is all the elements combined but if you can easily get past the attitudes of the employees it's a great adventure
The central hub for transportation in, around and out of and through Fort Worth, Texas. It's located at: 1001 Jones St Fort Worth, TX 76102 Available service: (1) Trinity Metro - local bus service (2) Trinity Railway Express (TRE) - heavy rail service between Dallas & Fort Worth (3) TEXRail - heavy rail service between Fort Worth and DFW International Airport. (4) Amtrak (Heartland Flyer) (Texas Eagle) - interstate heavy rail service (5) Greyhound - intercity/interstate bus service
Hour late departure with no a/c , communication, water or even any beverage for sell. On train staff are uninformed and if they did know something they wouldn’t try to inform because they’re terrified they may have to do something. The Amtrak website promotes the quality experience of rail travel but they can’t provide it with employees that don’t care and won’t look customers in the eye even if they are Lying to them. Fly or walk before you ride this rolling dumpster fire.
Do not, I repeat do not ever take Amtrak anywhere! This has got to be the worst run company in America. Write your congressman to stop subsidising this horrible waste of your tax dollars. We rode from here to San Antonio, we got in 8 hours late and every thing enroute that could go wrong did, from rude employees to not having a clue what was wrong with why we wouldn't move, no bad weather anywhere in the state. What a joke, and I am a very forgiving easy to please type guy.
Very dissapointed, using the Greyhound Service and my bus does not leave until 1:45 am. At approximately 7:30pm security comes and says we have to wait outside until our bus arrives. There is a severe thunderstorm warning in the Ft. Worth area and even with that they don't allow us to remain inside, se urity just told us if it begins to rain you can go under the covered area (which is NOT a decent sized area) if I could give it negative stars I would give it a -5
Amtrak Stations, in general, are not nearly as bad as Greyhound Stations. I've taken Amtrak out of Fort Worth many times, at different times of day. Unlike the Dallas station, the Fort Worth Station isn't overrun with homeless and degenerates. Yes, there are some, but they usually keep to themselves. If you smoke, expect one to try to bum a cig. The interior is generally clean, and staffed during business hours. I see plenty of police both inside and outside.
Here's a good one! How do you LOSE TRACK OF A BUS? IT'S A BUS!!!!! I waited 45 minutes at a stop downtown and it never came. "Well, why not call customer service?" Good question! It's because they CLOSE AT 5!!!! 5 whole hours before their busses stop running! I had to walk 10 minutes to the station to be told by a driver that they don't know what happened! Now I have to wait 25 more minutes, my food is ruined. Worst. System. Ever.
Like the previous entry, bring a pillow, phone charger, your entertainment (private ) and your OWN food, because pricey only BEGINS to explain the high cost of the food. The ride was great on the Amtrak and the staff were great also. It was good to see that they meant business when they say NO SMOKING ON BOARD the train. One man was put off the train at the next stop! Coodoes to the staff. Thanks for letting a brother ride.
They took to long about ahr and 50 munites. There food is bad. There survas is bad. They dont know where to send people. There bathrooms are discusting. The seats are uncomfortable. I saw someone pee in a seat and when they where informed of it they did not clean it and sat another person in it. 5 smoking brakes for in all for a ride thats 2days and 5 hrs. The whole trane REAKED like pee. All and all WROST EXPERIENCE EVER
Trains are nice. Spacious, well kept and clean(compared to DART anyway). My complaint is with scheduling. I use the TRE mostly for sporting events and concerts at AAC(Victory Station). Last westbound train to T&P, on a weekday departs at 10:33. If I want to make it I'd have to cut whatever event I'm attending short. How about adding one of those "Friday Only" trains(later depart times) to the regular weekday schedule?
First, your security is inadequate, cant understand what language, rude. They let the homeless and panhandlers in, they harassing paying customers, cant find a seat to sit on because is occupied mostly by them. sleeping or sittin on the seats, almost got into a fight, but security was more concern where passengers sit, than resolving the situation, first time here, and not impressed. Dont feel safe here.
Everything about FW seems to work perfectly. The TRE, the Intermodal, etc are just great examples. Naturally clerks etc could be more pleasant —after all, many of us work hard and are not appreciated but still know when at work, our job is to be nice as well as knowledgeable. Like Biblical Golden Rule: Do to others AS YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO DO TO YOU. Can’t guarantee anyones’s behavior but your own.
As a minor i have to have paperwork filled out and other various things filled out before I ride alone. But when my guardian and I arived we learned we had to be there an HOUR before the train left. The previous time i came, we didn't have to do an interview with the conductor or anything of the sort, but now I do. The train it's self is fine but that service was just truly bad. 2 stars.
No communication whatsoever. No one informed anyone that our train was not on the platform and instead was further down. Had to cross tracks and run as fast as I could with heavy bags on my shoulder so I wouldn’t miss my train.5 minutes or I would have missed it. Many people had to do the same because no one told us our train was hundreds of feet down the track. Shame on you Fort Worth
Whoever operated the train on 27 July 2022 did NOT stop at the Downtown Fort Worth stop at 12:47am. I bought my ticket 12:46am at the atm and was headed toward the stop. Literally right there. I thought the train would stop but they sped right through the stop without stopping. Now I have to find an alternative way to the airport. This is totally frustrating..
Bus drivers like to run stop signs / red lights. Recently, had a run in with an impatient bus driver. Occurred on 3/22 at Hemphill / Rosedale and proceeded until Hemphill / Magnolia. Driver of the bus on route #1 headed southbound on Hemphill around 6:30 this evening attempted to run me off the road. Absolutely disappointed in the conduct of your driver.
Amy at the Ft.Worth Amtrak station is THE BEST! I came to her with a zillion questions, because I have never ridden the train before and just wanted to do a quick trip to Austin and back. She patiently answered every single question, and was not once condescending or anything but perfectly pleasant. I can't wait to take my Super Saver trip! Thanks, Amy!
Clean entrance lobby & restrooms. Customer was was definitely friendly & informative. Wasn't too crowded at the time I entered the establishment. The security & security cameras are a plus especially late at night. The bus I entered upon was cleaned & smelled sanitized. In my opinion the staff there acted professional with curtiosy.
The station isn’t bad. The real issue is the Amtrak train service. It couldn’t be slower. Delay after delay. Took it because how could there be traffic on a train track? Well, apparently there is because they can’t communicate properly with freight trains. Long story short - I arrived 4 hours late. Almost midnight. Never again!
I have been trying for two days to get the app to work, I can't even find a Support tech to help with the problems. The app itself is very unfriendly. It will load, however nothing appears, not even and error code. I can't even get the station agent to answer the phone. So AMTRAK does not have a human alive in the station???
Not enough seating where the buses drop-off/pick-up riders. There is no way to see if a bus will be delayed. Buses will leave a few minutes earlier than the time listed even though riders are making their way to those buses. (I guess one or two riders can be enough for a bus to be considered "full" to some drivers.)
This is a great train station with adequate access to other public transportation. Busses stop at this station to take you around Fort Worth. Molly The Trolley stops here and is a free trolley to Sundance Square and many of the hotels downtown. This station accommodates access to TexRail, TRE, and Amtrak trains.
Customer service were exceptional. Ease of in/out entrance ways exceptional. Followed current protocol dealing with COVID-19. Provides multiple vending machines for on-the-go snacking. Facility/Restrooms were clean & toiletries were stocked. Temperature of facility was a little warm (my personal opinion).
If you have to wait here for your transportation, it really isn't bad. I've been on the Amtrak many of times to Oklahoma and to Austin... and there's plenty of room to not have to sit by anyone. The TRE is a pretty pleasant experience, and it goes by really fast. They do check your passes.
Went to central station as my starting point to get to the state fair. The whole thing is just confusing and there’s no workers designated for questions or assistance. I almost missed the train bc it was on the other side of the tracks and there was no info saying it would be on that side
My train was stuck here, and it’s just hard for all of us to find the place for food such as subway, KFC, or McDonald’s. There is subway, but that is only one at the station, and it closed that day. then, staying in the stage of hungry. I don’t know why subway closed on that day. …
The location is funky, Subway is dirty, and there is nothing Central to call it. You can not try to rip off the name Grand Central for this subpar facility. The buses are consistently late, the video monitors do not track the correct times, too many homeless, and PD is hardly there.
Always a pleasure coming through the station. Employees are helpful and if they can't answer a question, they can direct you to an answer. Also, there's a security Robot!!!!! I've taken to calling her Rosie and she absolutely brightens my day every time I see her. …
This Amtrak Station is decent. It's Amtrak itself that has the problem. Ride at your own risk of delays and being put on buses for hours of your trip that you paid for a sleeper car for. No help, no refund, just excuses. Amtrak...the VA of the Railway.
Clean, receptionist was extremely helpful.HOWEVER after waiting in HOT sun 30 mins.with our kids, we turned around to see BUS18 was never in his designated stop & left all 4 of us stuck at the station & had to take an uber to the zoo. …
I've never been to a bus station(Ft. Worth) this clean and the people that work here are the most professional and friendly of any bus station bar none. Dallas and Denver are total hell holes and their staffs are absolutely terrible very rude.
Amtrak Texas eagle and Heartland flyer go here. The Trinity railway is a quick and smooth ride to Dallas. And the TEXrail is a fast quick ride that goes down all the way to DFW airport. The station is cute with an old trolley on the outside.
Beautiful station with clean restrooms, friendly & helpful staff and ample seating with plenty of space for families & luggage during layovers. It's a good distance to from the Amtrak platforms, so attention to time is imperative for timely
My husband and I live in Ardmore Oklahoma but we will take the Amtrak down in the morning to have lunch in Fort Worth at Sundance Square. We will then ride it back in the evening. It’s such an amazing journey! The landscape is breathtaking!
Great location to get or get off the train or greyhound Amtrak also. Caught the buses around ft worth from here. Ride the Molly free. Has a good view at night with lots of lights that shine along the edges of these huge man made structures.
Hub for TRE, Tex rail, Amtrak and Greyhound. Bus station for Trinity. TRE service can be used to go to Dallas. Tex rail for DFW Airport. Amtrak trains to Chicago, San Antonio, Oklahoma. Office closes at 7pm. Restroom available inside Hub.
I got a marriage proposal at this station. Of course, he just wanted his green card, so I had to turn him down. It's always an experience at the train station, but at least it's clean and the reps are helpful., I love taking the train.
Amtrak train parks so far away from the station. Anyone with a disability or leg or back injury would be wise to inquire about a ride to the train. Or Amtrak should have shuttles going back and forth prior to departure and or arrival.
This is where all busses meet in the downtown area making it easy to access the two trains that provide service to either downtown Dallas or the DFW airport. The station is generally clean and they always have ample personnel on site.
Rode the Amtrak down from OKC and back up the following day. The first day was great I didn't have to go into the station or anything. The second day was annoying because it felt like security guards were bored. I had to show three
This place is full of vagrants and crazies. Watch out for the bums bugging you for a cigarette or bus fare. Other than that the trains are great. TRE to Dallas. Terrain to DFW Intl Airport. Busses are ok for the size of the city.
It's not the crowning achievement as Central stations go, but also not the nightmare depicted in gritty films. Bathrooms were expectedly nasty. At least there was a subway (just one step above the vending machine though)
The drivers and train ppl are fine but when try and get help there is none and when tell them of a issue no one takes care of it or they dont know who supposed to tell to take care of it. It's a lil sketchy with homeless
Clean place to wait for the Amtrak train, except for the mens restroom. The mens restroom smelled like pee & had pee on the floor. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. I give the mens restroom zero stars.
This is a review of the station and not of Amtrak train services. This is a building well suited for its multiple purposes. The staff is super friendly. You will find more than one tasty food option as well.
My first experience ever riding the train, in my early 40's. I loved the spacious seats, good food (surprised me), and caring staff! Way to go Amtrak. Fort Worth to Austin, and back several days later!
The station is fine when waiting for a train, but it’s not connected to the tracks well and there is no convenient place to wait. The restrooms are also not well designed for anyone carrying luggage.
Great station but why does the trinity metro leave nearly 10 minutes early around 2pm. That is terrible for commuters when all they have to do is wait like normal. Can’t even trust the TRE schedule
Clean! I was pleasantly surprised! Friendly staff, beautiful depot. Since it's downtown Ft. Worth, layovers are no problem! Just walk to Commerce or Main Street and grab some famous Texas viddles!
First time rider today love the space and comfortable you have but it took 3 hours to take off from schedule time so not a happy customer have a vehicle took train for experience so far not fun !
I find it a joke not to travel even 2 miles do not make fun of the tourist I do not recommend it we lost an hour of walking in the town for this and improve the image of the show inside the wagon
Kinda poor service, non attentive staff, except for the police....lol! Good Service when they get around to it! WILL be back, don't really have a choice, unless I get a car soon...lol Pray.
This is a great urban station. It has been recently renovated and contains stations for Amtrak, Greyhound, TRE (train service to downtown Dallas, closed on Sunday) , and The T (local bus).
People must understand that trains sharing tracks must yield to other freight trains. It would cost millions to have individual tracks if they went in both directions with no directions.
www.amtrak.late It's really ridiculous when we had to wait 7 hours because the train is late, always late. I will never ride latetrak ever. P.S. the situation is good and clean though.
The historic building:cool. The lack of signage indicating what is departing from where:not cool. Tex train to airport departs from the closest elevated train platform to greyhound.
Black female with long braids driving a golf cart was loudly cussing everyone for walking on the sidewalk when she driving. Going so far as threatening to run them over them.
They need to contain the flies here, to many. Subway was crowded and didn't have anything. Sodas was out of order, no soda bottles in the refrigerator. Napkins and so on.
when you wanna travel, but you don't wanna drive check out the FWCS.Catch a bus or trainto to where you want to visit even go to Dallas on the Trinity Rail Express train.
Station itself is ok. Places to sit while waiting for the train. Knowing which platform to wait on can be tricky. It also serves a station for city buses and grey hound.
Booked seats on the Amtrak for the first time. Easy process. Buy the $20 blanket & pillow if you plan on sleeping. Great leg room. Dining car has food, pop & beer.
Literally did not check our cart to see if we needed help when departed. Had to sit on the floor were a seat was ripped out. Need way more upgrading all around.
I've ridden a few times now, staff seems to hate interacting with people. God forbid you ask someone a question, the best you'll get is thinly veiled hostility.
I didn't disembark from my train, since I was on my way to San Antonio, TX, but the station wasn't crowded and everything looked convenient and available.
Delayed for 4 hours without sending out an email letting riders know in advance. Service crew gets real snappy when asking for a change in reservation
The security guard made us leave even though we had tickets forced to wait in the rain till time for bus not a good rx6. For the public or passengers
We always have a great trip! They welcome us with a smile. Our family has two people with disabilities and a service dog, never any problems. …
So nice to see alot of people here smoking and littering thr ground with cigarret buts even though this little sign is hung on almost every pillar
Great station just outside the downtown area of Fort Worth. Used the Amtrak train up to Oklahoma City from here and it was an easy great ride.
Stand corrected, ignore the security guard trying to kick you out and show your ticket to the staff and they will let you stay inside
It was too quick I didn't get off the bus but from what I could see you wait outside after hours but looked calm and heavy security
We love the train! Just be aware that the freight trains have priority so sometimes there are delays. Storms can also cause delay.
The Best Way to Travel. Affordable, great comfortable recliner seats. I love Amtrak will never choose to fly or drive again
Nice place. Great workers. Spent alot of time here during this summer. Met alot of the bys drivers thst drive for the city.
the train is never on time and they keep breaking down i really don’t recommend but you have time to wait then be my guess
It's is nice place to get a bus ride to downtown or the zoo, botanical garden TCU. And other venues. Has security as well
My first time to take the train. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the station was clean and nice to look at.
Missed my connecting bus and was delayed for an hour and 45min as a result. The delay was trinity metros fault.
I am disabled and the train ride was great. The seats were comfortable. The staff was great. A 10 in my book.
Really tiny but cozy Station. The Amtrack guy was very friendly and informative. Well bathrooms are not good.
Great ride and knowledgeable crew. Plan to repeat next trip. More relaxed to fly into DFW & train to OKC.
If you enjoy chatting with homeless people, you will enjoy this train station. Very un-nerving....
I absolutely love amtrack! And there is a free bus loop that takes you around downtown Fort Worth
Well lit at nite ,courteous employees nearby if need to ask questions ,very punctual on time !!
Clean and nice station with lots of waiting space, luggage handling and ok bathrooms.
Open felt safe ez to get around and there was person that would answer my question
Can catch various public transportation here, i.e. buses, trains, uber, etc.
A great hub for transportation. Local bus, Greyhound, Amtrak and car rental.
Was able to connect with my bus I needed to get on. Didn't have a wait .
It's 100 outside and they don't turn the AC on in the giant metal train
Sadly needing daily janitorial work as well as restorative attention
Safe place with easy access, and to get off train to stretch legs.
