We did a family staycation at the Sheraton to celebrate four birthdays in our family and everyone wanted Chinese food for dinner. After reading all the reviews on Google, we thought we would give Fortune One a chance. As in many of the other Google reviews, if you are looking for atmosphere this is not your place. The inside of the restaurant was clean, but it is not much more than a very plain room with restaurant seating. If you can get past the inside of the store you are in for a huge treat. Living in the south we have been a big fan of Leo Fu's right off of Macleod Trail. This has been a faithful go to for many years... I think they have been displaced by the food served at Fortune One. Prices at Fortune One are more than fair and less than most in the city. The dishes came out with minimal wait, were hot and WOW is all I can say. The amount of proteins served in every dish was amazing! The owners of this restaurant do not skimp on ingredients. The salt and pepper seafood is hands down the best we've ever had. The other dishes we ordered were beef and black beans, ginger beef, sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, Szechuan noodles with chicken. There wasn't a bad dish in the bunch, they were all stellar. There had been only one other table during our time in the store, but it looks like they do banner take out business with Skip the Dishes as about every fifteen minutes a driver would come and go. I asked the young guy that served us if it was a family run store and he told me it was his aunt and uncle working in the back. If you're up for some fantastic food this is your place.

We decided to try this place instead of the one across the road. The prices were pretty good, but the food seemed to lack flavor. We ended up ordering chicken Soo gai - chicken was tender with no gristle, and battered and fried to perfection. The sauce was much darker then I'm used to with no nuts, but was a huge hit. I got the salt and pepper squid - soggy, chewy, and tasteless. My guess is it was the first one to be cooked and boxed up. I also got some chow mein - again, super dark and tasteless. Heck even the shrimp in it tasted like nothing. And dumplings - the skin was super thick but there was a lot of meat. Would have been worth it if it had more flavor. Idk if they forgot the msg or salt or something but it was just lacking overall. Id probably be willing to pay a dollar or two more somewhere else to make sure I'm getting quality for the food. On the uphand, staff was super nice! It felt like a nice little hole in the wall. Id bet if you got to eat the food super fresh it would have been a solid 5 star.

Im giving a 4 star review because we ordered an 80$ pick up order on Sunday & did not recieve the discounts they advertise & did not recieve any fortune cookies.. So that was disappointing, but aside from that... the food was all delicious. We ordered chicken fried rice, mixed vegetables in oyster sauce, beef and broccoli, almond sou gai, ginger beef, sweet n sour chicken balls, honey garlic ribs. Probably the best Chinese food we have had in Calgary so far. The whole family enjoyed it including the kids, you dont fill up too fast like regular chinese food and you're not hungry an hr later & my favorite part is we even ate and enjoyed the left overs aside from the chicken balls. First time we ever order chinese food with the sour sauce alrdy on the chicken balls. Next time we will order with the sauce on the side to prevent them from being soggy.

Tried this restaurant on a whim, went on a Wednesday and we were the only ones eating in. They took great care to wipe down the table and chairs before we were seated. We ordered 4 dishes and each one was delicious. Lots of fresh vegetables and the meats were tender and perfectly cooked. My Favorite was the salt and pepper squid it was cooked to perfection and had a delicious salt and pepper flavour. I would recommend this restaurant.

Easy to order by phone. Good was prepare and ready for pick up on time. All items tasted great and enjoyed by our family. Items ordered looked so delicious and fresh. Only disappointing part was the fried S&P squid was soggy from being in a sealed container. Could be improved by cutting vent holes in top to let steam clear! Overall good experience and look forward to eating in their dining room when open to customers.

Ordered delivery - based on reviews - not impressed. Been a very long time since I’ve had a really good ginger beef, after reading the reviews thought I’d order it from here and try it out - fail. Salt and pepper Squirt is good. Chow mein had an off taste to it and the dumplings were too gummy. Overall on a scale between one and 10 - 5 - 1/2.

I ordered my food and while I was sitting and waiting for the food, I saw a mouse crossing the hallway coming out of the food storage room. I immediately notified the owner and he killed the mouse with piece of wood and feet. I cancelled my order and went home without the food. The owner said pest control comes every month. That made me worry that this is an on going but not under control. problem and the owner

Had to find a new favorite Chinese restaurant for my cravings after moving into the neighborhood and I was very impressed! Best one around and I've tried them all. Dinner combo ginger beef and sweet n sour pork was generous and on point. Will be back. 5/5 highly recommended

Amazing takeout Chinese food! Been ordering from them at least once a week off of skip the dishes (only works on the app for some reason) especially during this time of social distancing to support local businesses! Dumplings are great and definitely worth a try! Love all of their deep fried dishes as well like ginger beef & sweet and sour chicken. Definitely recommend!

Hands down best Chinese food I’ve had in Calgary! I always get the dumplings, they have good portions and on point sauces. Love it, Never disappointed!

I can hands down say this is the best Chinese food I have ever had, and I don't say that lightly! Everything was perfect, I never knew you could make steamed vegetables so tasty let alone the crispy fall apart ginger beef, top Knoch chicken fried rice and crispy flavorful spring rolls! I'm never ordering Chinese food anywhere else! 10 stars!

I feel like i was totally ripped off. Both deep fried meats were so hard i couldnt eat them. The rice was mediocre And the chicken vegies were ok. But i feel the meat was scraped off the bottom of the fry pot after the days cooking was done. Horrible. I would not recomend this to anyone who appreciates good food.

Great quality and excellent service! We had a large order for a large group and the food was ready quickly and was packed well. My only concern was the menus online had outdated prices, but they weren't posted by the restaurant themselves so I can't blame them!

The restaurant looks...like a dive and a little intimidating because we almost got back in the car. But am I ever glad we gave this place a try because I'll be going back and bringing friends.

I give 5 stars! Fresh and very tasty food. I went in to pick up my combo for one (ginger beef, shanghai noodle and steamed rice) restaurant is very clean with friendly staff. Prices are surprisingly lower considering the quality. Well done Fortune One...I will be eating from here again very soon.

Crispy fried batter that does not turn soggy after delivery/the next day. Fair prices (just try to finish the Cantonese fried noodles to yourself). Good picks are: Lemon Chicken (crispy fried chicken with lemon sauce on the side), Ginger Beef, Cantonese Noodles (thin), and Chicken Fried Rice.

First time we used this restaurant, picked it because it had the highest rating in reviews. The food arrived hot and fresh, veggies were still crispy. The portions were large. Overall great meal, the flavours were exquisite. Definitely a NEW family favourite and worthy of a 5 star rating.

its just so hit and miss with this place ive ordered at least 10 times half the time incredible fresh crunchy ginger beef and chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce.and other times it tasted like old frige stale soggy ginger beef so its a gamble but its a gamble worth taking forshure

First time ordering from here and I was pleasantly surprised. The almond sui gai was perfect! The rice was nice and fluffy and the beef with broccoli was very good. The ginger beef could use a little more spice but it was still really good. I will definitely order from here again.

Just tried this place out and loved it! Have been looking for a new spot since we moved further east and glad we finally found one. Everything we ordered was great! Full of meat and vegetables, they don't skimp on the good stuff. This will be our new go to spot. Highly recommend!

I found the food to be fresh and extremely hot. Well cooked, with excellent arrangement of flavouring. The portions were extremely generous. I ordered the meal for one with two side choice options. What an amazingly generous meal. Two people could have split the meal happily. ☺️

It's just a little hole in the wall place that I wouldn't guess had the most excellent food. I will be going back. I highly recommend their dumplings. I only gave it 4 stars because the ambience was a little dumpy but like I said the food was awesome.

Ordered through Skip. They screwed up my order so I called and asked for a replacement. They sent over a replacement and then told me I had to pay for the replacement and additional delivery for said replacement. Don't waste your time here.

Great food. We order ribs and chicken balls which are delicious. Sea food soup with Toufu are wonderful. Good service and sweet deserts. It's located in a neighborhood, so I didn't wait for a long time to get the service.

The Szechuan noodle dish is good. The sweet and sour pork was just hunks of fat in bland sauce. The ginger beef was completely dry, no sauce at all.

Ordered from here on skip the dishes, and could not be more impressed! Quick service, and is some of the best food I've had, especially off of Skip!

Restaurant employees are very rude. They don't allow to use washroom for delivery persons. Even there is board that washroom is available for guests
