3.4 - Popped in here on a Saturday to have lunch before an appointment. Advertised hours were from 11am, but when I walked over at 11:30, I noticed the waitress was taking a very long time to set up and didn't pay attention to anyone of us looking to be seated. Eventually, after walking past multiple times, 1 table was finally seated. I approached her to ask if we just sit anywhere. She told me the kitchen wouldn't open until 15 minutes later. Another waiter came by to serve me afterwards - he was cordial but appeared disinterested and standoffish (I wonder if something had happened in the kitchen). Food was Okay, although the piece of Salmon in the Burger was tiny ($18)! I did love being able to swap the chips to sweet potato fries though ($3.50) and they were superb! Food took awhile and it was freezing cold under those trees with no sun and strong winds. Bring a jacket people! Food was okay, service is lacking though (I realised this when I went to see the menu next door and was warmly and happily greeted by a waitress who was busy but still keen to acknowledge my existence! :)) Get the Sweet Potato Fries!

This was up there with one of our worst dining experiences ever. Would give 0 stars if possible. Dined here with a friend for dinner. When we got three quarters of the way through one of their current “specials”, the prawn spaghetti, there was a massive cockroach at the bottom, hidden and buried under all the pasta (see picture). It seems suspicious that a chef plating the dish would not have seen this large cockroach and really calls into question the hygiene in the restaurant. We called a waitress over, she was horrified, however, after speaking with the kitchen or manager, we were not offered alternatives/have anything remade and they offered only to waive one drink and the spaghetti from our bill. We did not receive an apology and no one followed up with us following this incident. One waitress was lovely but the other tall male waiter was not attentive to tables and it was difficult to get his attention to order, slow to come to you once you did get his attention and slow to get the bill at the end. Would honestly not recommend this place - there are plenty of other lovely places to eat at Lane Cove.

My fiance had a random craving for seafood chowder and asked me to search for a place close-by who sells it. The usual restaurants came up and we were like meh tried those - not all that. Fourth Fish came up in the list both of us had never been there so called to make sure they were open for take away. We turned up to Lane Cove and found the Fish Cafe tables blocking the doorway due to covid distancing and a lovely friendly man there to greet us. We ordered 2 chowders and a coffee to stay warm while we waited. Can we just day WOW! The flavour balance was spot on and the fish, prawns and vegetables were all cooked to perfection. Will be driving here again to get our seafood chowders from now on!

Edited review. Went back for dinner and was not happy. We were provided a table, although we didn’t have a booking. That was about the only good thing that happened. The table was covered in ash/dust. The table next to us came after we sat down. Within minutes they were served wine and water. While we still still had warm water and a single glass on the table. The Waiter came back and asked the table what THEY would like to order, while we still had not been attended to in the slightest. Disappointed. Walked out. Only retains a start because we have been there before. Food was alright. Not worth the service.

A busy night seafood great , young staff motivated and I thanked them directly we have been coming here since they opened. I was disappointed in the manager in Fourth Fish t shirt wearing a bib who dressed down all the wait staff in front of customers I tried to find this character 10 mins later but he was nowhere to be found , so I did thank each of the wait staff directly , poor form Mr Owner/ Manager

Incredible restaurant, I love everything about it, the atmosphere is great, the fish is fresh as can be. Always people there but never too busy and cozy. Its so good i dedicated my birthday dinner to this place. Just when you start to have enough of the Moorish chips and fried or oily food, there are many vegetables or refreshing salads. You can get thirst quenching drinks, and even a wagyu burger. I have to say this place is the best fish and chip restaurant and it doesn’t disappoint. Love this place.

Very, very disappointing since social distancing began, service has fallen off a cliff. Forced to order and wait outside in 10 degrees on a rainy night, despite zero customers inside. Orders once cooked they are stored away in plastic bags hidden from view of customers. Your meal will be cold and soggy when you get it, as no effort to speak to or assist customers. Staff could not care less. Avoid at all cost, an epic fail post social distancing., Many other far, far better options in Lane Cove within a 50 metre radius.

VERY disappointed with the service. It's a massive shame as the food there is great. But considering how I was treated, I'm not going there again. The table we were given was recently vacant, they cleared it but then it took 10mins before someone came to wipe it down. We were ignored even though the waiter went to the table next to us 3 times to ask them how their meal was going. Asked for water & it never came. They seem to prefer certain customers over others, seemed a bit racist.

Used them for takeaway and was very impressed! Service polite and very nice, professional Food top quality and very tasty! Had a deep sea perch grilled and delicious also calamari on entre. Will be a frequent guest there and the place is highly recommended! Also I loved their compressed paper environmentally friendly packaging

My wife and I wend there today for lunch for the first time, we ordered two grilled fish dishes and one salt and pepper calamari to share, the foods were excellent and tasty and the serving staffs were very helpful and my only disappointing point to mention that the cooking oil were old and needs to replace fresh oil as we noticed our calamari and other patrons fried fishes were all in dark brown colour ,it is a shame otherwise,I would post a five stars .

I ordered a dish called Battered Local NSW Whiting Fillet from this restaurant via UberEats, which cost me 22 dollars. However, I felt that the dish was overpriced: only two pieces of very thin fish fillet, a little bit of coleslaw, a slice of lemon with huge black marks on its skin and some french fries (the photos attached). Moreover, I specifically asked them to seal the food delivery bag but they did not. Overall, a rather unsatisfactory experience.

Went with my parents and infant. Since it was a hot day, we sat in the inner portion where the a/c was a blessing for my little one. The crumbed hoki and butter garlic prawns were fresh n tasty. Staff were efficient and kind. They offered my dad a finger bowl, which I never came across any other restaurant here. ( So one could just dig into the food without worrying about getting ones fingers dirty ) Happy with the whole experience :)

As fish & chip joints go, this place is right between "standard" and "gourmet", or between "cheap" and "fancy" if you like. We tried the standard menu and were very pleasantly surprised by the swordfish - thanks go to the waitress who strongly encouraged us to try it out. Szechuan calamari was nice, though very mild. Chips were fine. Service is on the whole fine, though we've had sketchy takeaway (slightly wrong order, no tartar).

The Calamari ( starter) was cooked to perfection. Our main meal, seafood risotto was fabulous. 4 King prawns and 4 scallops with a wonderful fresh flavour on top of the risotto. Finished with a flat white which was only $4.50. We only ate here as it was 4pm on a Monday afternoon and was the only place serving meals in Lane Cove. We definitely will be regular diners here. Service was fast and pleasant.

Such a disappointing experience this afternoon, the chips were clearly re-heated. They came warm but completely hard, I'm assuming they were reheated from the lunch service?! I will not ever be ordering again as this was clearly an issue with the restaraunt not the delivery. It really doesn't speak for a restaraunt when they send food through delivery that they would never have the gall to serve you if you were dining in.

Tried crumbed fish fillet burger and it was a horrible experience. The AKA 'fillet' was nothing but as thin as a paper and what I could taste was only the taste of the crumb, guess what it was the same hoki fish that McDonald offers in their fish fillet burgers however McDonald stands out presenting something that at least you can see the fish fillet, this one was just the crumb. Sad experience.

Apart from thier bueatifull fresh fish, I accidentally left my sennheiser ear buds at thier place last week. When I rang to tell them how pleased I was with my 'take away' purchase the lady who answered the phone recognised my voice & informed me I had left them at thier place. Amazingly good food, my partner and I were not expecting what a romantic and date-like treat this intended "stop by a nearby cafe" became! Service was patient, attentive and timed the dishes perfectly, even let us have coffee pretty late in the afternoon instead of shutting off the machine. Calamari was unbelievable, we agreed, some of the best fish we've ever had. Will be back soon!

Been a few months since we have been here but food and service tonight top notch as always, had the battered snapper, seafood chowder and pepper calamari, all yum!

Been here several times. Calamari is good, Decent food, but pricey - atmosphere depends as it is in the huddle of lane cove, can be good. Probably most disappointing element is the disgruntled male staff that served me, bad condescending attitude. Probably won’t be returning unfortunately as a result.

the heaters are turned ON when the temp' drops a few degrees in summer ( despite the common heat waves ) , making it VERY uncomfortable ! Q - what in the hell are they doing ? A = trying way too hard but " shooting themselves in the foot " , that's what . i have complained about this but my objection seems to have been ignored , i will now go elsewhere .

Foods is pretty good but the wait is always 45 mins plus even for takeaway. The servers usually take 15 minutes to serve you even if it’s not busy. Very slow, don’t come here if you’re in a rush!

This is a nice little cafe right in the middle of the Lane Cove market. As their name suggests, they specialise primarily in sea food and server some classic sea food dishes. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating and the interiors of the cafe are faily done up. The staff is also very pleasing and eager to serve you.

I want to like this place as it's a local spot but last time there service was poor. And the apple slaw salad appeared to be identical to the side salad which came with meals,with the addition of two bits of apple. And I needed to pay 50c for the box to take left overs home. Sigh.. i won't be returning. Byo tupperware.

Extremely good value seafood meals for the price, especially during lunchtime. Seating is mostly outdoors, but under cover. Cannot beat grilled barramundi fillet and chips for $16.00 at time of writing. Located in middle of Lane Cove Plaza, so has good atmosphere and plenty of people watching opportunities.

These guys really need to work on their service because it massively lets this place down. They stuffed up my take away order (fair enough people make mistakes) with not even close to an apology after waiting for so long. The food is decent, if you steer clear from the oysters as they were terrible.

The meals were very well presented. The fish served on the menu were able to cooked either grilled, battered to suit the customer. The salad & vegetables were also well prepared. The staff were friendly & helpful & it is great restaurant to take children. Fish is fresh & Beef Nachos were prepared

It's just alright, price isn't bad but in terms of seafood there's definitely better places, the chowder is pretty bland and the barbecued prawns are decent. Chips are always nice. Burger takeaway is my favourite part about it. Whole vibe is very relaxed and staff are generally pretty good.

Ordered takeaway only to find they forgot the chips and salad that go with this fish. This was quickly fixed. Overall, poor quality fish & chips, everything overcooked, under-seasoned and overpriced for the quality on offer. Side salad was partially old wilted greens. Wouldn't recommend.

Excellent food, and very competitive prices. I eat there regularly as it's the best value in terms of quality and price in Lane Cove. Don't forget to look at the separate specials menu which changes monthly. There are some real surprises there.

Lovely simple fish place in the Lane Cove village. Easy going with friendly service team. Fresh and good value. Really enjoyed my lemon sole, done just right, simple and kudos to the chef and service team for the thoroughly enjoyable meal!

The staff in the kitchen was yelling at a customer yesterday over price and sizes and i also heard the kitchen yelling at staff for no reason almost every time i walk past. Horribly under cooked food and slow service i wont be returning

Always enjoy the food at Fourth Fish. I agree with other posts, it's good value for money. I've never had a problem with service. A little slow sometimes, but you're not paying for 5 * service either.

This quaint fish cafe has good fresh fish dishes. I have been here for half a dozen times and each time, the food is fresh and prepared well. The outdoor seating is perfect for a balmy summer night.

Eat regularly from here and often really good but sometimes hit and miss. Nothing worse than eating salmon that doesn't taste fresh. Work on keeping the quality up guys as fish must be fresh.

Update: tried again a year later and yet again messed up the order. Ordered grilled salmon and received a deep fried platter when checking arriving home. Check your orders before you leave!!

Fish is to die for and so is the squid. The staff are super friendly. The best thing though is that it's open all day so the kitchen never closes even if it's for a 3pm late lunch

Cheaper prices for takeaway, and the friendly staff will provide nearly the whole regular menu for takeaway as well, despite the existence of a seperate, limited takeaway menu.

Fish and Chips shop located inside Lane Cove Market Square. Prices are reasonable and food is just like normal fish and chips (good). The service was good as well.
