Grab a chair because this will take time. So I booked my service on May 29 for April 4 because my regular hair person did not have a time convenient for me. So, I got the confirmation on May 31 and filled out the online form. I am nervous but looking forward to it. I got a call from them on May 31, and they left a message. (I am running away from something, so to have peace, I do not check my voicemail). I get to the place on time. The hairstylist tells me that she has never done on another human or a mannequin dreadlocks maintenance. She only has watched videos (me myself, if it were videos only.. YouTube would have taught me to do it). I am a bit sad, so I am inquiring how confident she is. She doesn't sound convinced, but she is giving a discount, so I tell her:hey, go ahead and do it. I am not confident, but people got to learn somehow. She goes to her boss, comes back and tells me since I am not comfortable, she is not comfortable doing it. I'm like human, didn't I tell you you can go ahead and do it??? Like why now you are making me feel like you not doing my hair is my fault. Now I am made to feel that my hair is not done because I am not comfortable. Anyway... I came out without my hair being done and was really disappointed. I was looking forward to all those 5stars and the 10+ years of experience.

I recently had an appointment with Chanté (Slicey Fingers) and it was fantastic. She greeted me in a friendly manner when I arrived and offered me a coffee, tea or water. She asked me what I wanted to do with my hair, made some suggestions and together we decided on a look that I felt great with. Every part of the appointment was great - wash, head massage, cut, dry and finish. She was professional the entire time, yet also friendly. My experience with her was fun and I left my time with her feeling confident and comfortable with my look. I will definitely be back for another Slicey Fingers experience. This day was heavy! I decided to let go of my locs. Niasha was an answered prayer in sooooo many ways. Charming. Warm. Understanding and provided a safe space for me to work through my sadness and anxiety. The process was NOT a one-man show. We did this TOGETHER. Chanté cut my hair and she's honestly the best. She's got such a relaxing presence about her that you instantly feel comfortable around her. Also, in the past 10 years she has been the ONLY curly hair certified stylist to cut my hair in a way where i don't hate it. She's so gokd at what she does. I love my hair now and that's all thanks to Chanté! The salon itself is like serotonin in a building, lots of light and aestheticaly pleasing. I usually find salons off putting and over stimulating/anxiety inducing but this place is the opposite. I highly recommend this salon, it's so wonderful :)

I've seen both Niasha and Praise for my fine, curly hair, and they were both exceptional experiences. They were compassionate, listened to me exactly, and did the kind of job where people stop you after, to compliment your hair and ask where you got it done. This is the first place I've been to in 3 decades that actually knows how to cut curly hair. The salon is also clean and pleasant. It has a good atmosphere and everyone working there seems relaxed, professional, and attentive. The owner is clearly doing things right, on multiple levels. Thank you for making my curls beautiful!

Freshair is full of the best people. They're all so friendly and make sure you're being taken care of! Miranda is my go-to person and she is the loveliest. She makes sure I'm hydrated (with the best sparkling water) and that I know exactly what's going on at all times. She's a somewhat new stylist but you wouldn't be able to tell with the care, attention, skill, and creativity she brings to the chair. Plus, the salon being eco-friendly is a huge plus to me!

A new location for me. The staff is very friendly and inviting. The location is very nice and with a lot of personal touches that make it different from the ordinary hair studio. Elaine was my stylist and she was very friendly and asked the right questions to achieve the hair style I wanted. I was greeted by everyone working there and they all make you feel right at home. Freshair Boutique is my favourite salon in Winnipeg! They have such a wonderful and welcoming atmosphere, I've never felt more comfortable at any other salon. Miranda was SO patient with my little ones (2 & 5) and gave them rockstar haircuts last time we were in! Cut for my curly haired son. He went from long (past shoulder length) to a mullet a few months ago. He absolutely loves it. We have been back twice for some “mullet maintenance”. Wonderful experience! The store is cute and colourful, full of plants and light. Chante is an excellent and gifted stylist. I was a bit anxious about going to her, but she gave me fantastic suggestions about what to do with my flat, very straight hair.
