I don’t think that I will ever be able to express how grateful I am to have found Fukui Mortuary during an extremely challenging time. A close family friend passed away suddenly while on a trip to LA and I was asked by her parents to help coordinate her return to Canada. This was a complicated process that required us to choose a mortuary with absolutey no information — we ended up going with Fukui given their proximity to the coroner’s office and positive online reviews (one of which referenced the transport of a loved one abroad, which is what we were looking for). It turned out that Fukui Mortuary is a family business that has been passed on for many (I think they said five) generations over more than 100 years, largely serving the Japanese-American and general LA community. During this incredibly challenging time we really needed people that we could rely on, and Herman and Takeshi far exceeded our expectations. They helped us with exceptional care, attentiveness and professionalism. They understood our urgency in getting our loved one home ASAP and handled every logistical challenge effectively and practically (including foreseeing possible challenges, providing solutions before we even needed them and keeping costs below what I would have expected given the effort that they put in). Herman answered every one of my countless calls, and Takeshi kept us all posted by text and email. Even after our loved one was no longer in their care, they both followed up with me to make sure that she made it back to her family as planned. I need to stop writing as I am literally tearing up thinking about how well taken care of we were and how terribly this situation could have dragged on. Thank you to the entire team at Fukui Mortuary, which somehow managed to get our loved one on a flight home within only a couple business days from her passing. Cannot recommend enough.
Waited for long time to post a tribute to David Kikuchi; the server to get onto the website took over 1/2 hour and sill has not allowed me to post a tribute to him; please get a better/faster server company to allow posts to our passed friends memory. The only time I attended a funeral there was for my late uncle Hideo Kawase and that was a long time ago. Leaving a message for our long passed relatives and friends is important to us who still live and wish to memorialize our remembrances to our closest friends and relatives. Thank you for allowing this suggestion to your website. David Kikuchi was my friend and my condolences to his family and his wonderful wife of over 30 years. I only wish that could have gotten on to David's official obituary site to leave my sentiments there. Respectully, Brian Watanabe
My family used Fukui for decades. I lost my father and step father in last 3 years and dealt with Fukui both times personally. I was just blown away. I can't thank them enough for all the care, compassionate attitude and support they have provided. They made many things so easy for us, answered any questions I have very promptly, and with great smiles. I can't thank them enough.... I have no doubt that they will continue to provide such amazing service one needs at such difficult time.
Fukui Mortuary Inc. assisted me with some logistics in bringing a loved one home from overseas. There are many steps involved getting human remains transported internationally and rules also differ by country. Despite the circumstances it was a great pleasure having Mr. Fukui himself assist me with my odd situation. He put me at ease and helped me with the process. Mr. Fukui and his staff were absolutely amazing. I cannot thank the Fukui Mortuary Inc enough for their assistance.
I called up Fukui in relation to a relative's obituary. They passed away 40 years ago and their service was held there. The lady on the phone was nice enough to look in the archives and find a bit of information on her service. Although we weren't able to find an obituary, she was able to confirm that my relative did have a service there. I am grateful to know there are helpful people working at the Mortuary.
It was an honor to work with Mr. Herman Kodachi with the arrangements of my late husband, Ted. He was professional and yet knew when to keep it lighthearted. He is a true asset to Fukui Mortuary.
We connected to Fukui Mortuary through an unfortunate loss of a family member. Their professional, compassionate service and excellent follow through was greatly appreciated through this process.
