I got my engagement ring sized here after getting a recommendation of their person who works on rings. First thing I asked was about warranty, “no warranty, no nothing, we know what we’re doing” I asked the guy his opinion on which size between 6.5-7 looks like it fits properly- he looked me in the face and didn’t say anything so I went with 6.5 which was too small, seems to be smaller than the sizer I tried on. The 1 in my 18k stamp is gone which don’t understand how only one number can be ruined this way, there’s scratches on the entirety of the band, it’s uneven in terms of a perfect circle as well as the band is very thinned out now for an already very thin ring. I googled my concerns and this is done when they take the cheap way out rather than add gold and solder it. I wasn’t explained anything about how this would be done so I had no clue they would be doing this that way or I would’ve went elsewhere. I called this morning and was told it wasn’t stretched it’s sized, and then was rudely told just bring it in we’ll look at it after I told him that is hard to believe because of what I’ve read and I’m just worried because it’s my first time sizing a ring. As if I would trust these people after they treat me and my ring with no respect. I do NOT recommend it here and they do not deserve any good reviews- shocked I seen some. Edit: Want to make it very clear I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt but there’s too much attitude and pride in these people for their shabby job. Not to mention this service costed $70 To your response: I don’t understand how you can be confused when I’ve clearly stated why I won’t come back to your business. I found somewhere reputable I will be getting your work fixed. And this isn’t a rant it’s a review of my experience, still the pride continues from these pieces of work.

This place is honestly horrible doesn’t even deserve a one star fright frankly who I dealt with was pretty rude as well. I called before hand asking if they take laptops explaining I had 2013 MacBook the person I spoke to on the phone was very nice said we take MacBook depend on the condition how much your asking for we can make that work I was only looking for 150-200 I bought it for 750 two years ago from a pawn shop so I wasn’t expecting much 150 the lowest When I get there the person I dealt with takes one look and goes yeah no I’ll give you 50 for it it’s 2013 that’s pretty old so I go that’s pretty low offer he goes well it is 2013. So let me get this straight I’m gonna sell it to you guys for 50 dollars for you guys to up the price for someone for what 200+ probably F that horrible place takes advantage of people from the looks of it. I’ll just stick to market place

I came in to purchase a thin chain to be able to wear some medallions I had received as gifts from my childhood. I must say this is a very nice establishment. Very clean and professional. I will say a little more expensive than other places but for good reason. The quality of previously enjoyed jewelry was very high quality as a matter of fact they had the best selection I have come across and all refurbished jewelry looked like new condition. I ended up purchasing a small 10k gold chain and haven't taken it off since. I plan to come back to this Pawnbroker in the near future for my next purchase as I am looking for a gold bracelet. Only wish the website was a little more user friendly to view product and order online but I can appreciate it would be difficult to post everything in store with the amount of product turnover in even a day.

I had a really great opinion of this place before I had to get a "loan" on a 4 yr old (approximately) Toshiba laptop, I wish I had the exact "specs" but I don't at this moment.. The younger miserable looking guy who never smiles was cleaning or something when I went in.. I was dealing with another gentleman and suddenly the other guy comes up to take over.. I wanted $100. He said "No way" blah blah blah he offered me $70. I have been a customer fir many years so I was a bit confused, and I then said "Can you do $75?" He was a pr**k and said nope $70. His attitude towards me just made me rethink everything about that place. If I didn't need money I wouldn't have pawned my laptop right? And he couldn't even give me an "extra" $5?? He's A miserable little bastard.

A very unprofessional company to deal with during this pandemic. Advertised through Kijiji was an older piece of music gear in need of repair. A keyboard. After a brief conversation through messages, I stopped by the door front since I live in the area. Upon asking if I could look at it, or at least test how broken it was (even bringing my own equipment to test with), I was told "no". They wouldn't run an extension cord outside to even power it on. I was then told there is no return policy if I bought it. Being told "the lights turn on" doesn't do much good if a piece of musical equipment can't make music. The man then walked away as I was mid-way through asking a question, and the door closed on me. I advise against dealing with this company.

Rude staff. Went in with an authenticated watch. They said that my paperwork meant nothing to them and they would need to send the watch away to be authenticated. I said I would need to check with the owner of the watch first. They asked what I was hoping to get, I told them that we were hoping for $2000 as the appraisal was for $4200. They said they were no longer interested. I asked if they had it authenticated what they could offer and was told "we don't make counter offers", and was handed back the watch and paperwork. So I guess you don't want my business. I don't understand why the staff could not give me a ballpark figure of what they would offer after they had it authenticated.

My husband purchased this guitar Christmas 2020. Due to covid have never been used by me! I finally got an appointment to take appointment to take my guitar lessons 2 weeks ago, to my dismay, The guitar is flawed, (Dangerously). This pawn shop is not going to do anything about this , not taking it back, not exchanging it. Their explanation is, it is an entry level guitar Tom and I must have stored it improperly! Please double check everything before you purchase from this pawn shop. This pawn shop didn't even offer an exchange, absolutely no sense of good service. I'm sure the owner will try to make it like it's my fault....he still has the money and I have a broken guitar!

Visited this place and was made to feel embarrassed by the gentleman who was valuing my $7000 diamond and gold ring. He told me they wanted a price from me before they would offer me a value because "they don't work that way" then quickly told me they would pass since they couldn't offer me what I was suggesting (even though I had no idea and was there for their guidance and guessed at an 80 percent devalue on my ring). I was then asked by the gentleman "what I needed the money for" while I awkwardly explained my financial situation in front of my 11 year old son. Terrible experience will never return. Left feeling worse and more upset.

Took my moms jewellery while she was off her mental health medication and were unable to detect that she suffers from Schizophrenia. When I called to discuss they said she had to deal with them. Odd response to someone who is her PoA. They demand cash only payments and hung up on me when I asked about their practices of assessing mentally ill customers. I have since had to contact the police and deal with this matter, I encourage others to do the same. By proxy they are unethically supporting crime in this city by not getting vulnerable persons that are obviously spending the money on nefarious purchases around the corner.

Not sure if this person was a manager or owner white male with a army style brush cut hair, with permanent snarl on his face. from all the years dealing with Jewellery stores this was far my worse experience, this man was so rude with extremely poor customer service that I have ever encountered, the only reason I gave 2 stars was the products weren't bad, Ii would never spend a dime at this establishment again and encourage others not to as well, people like this should not be dealing with the public, not sure if he was a racist or just a completely flawed human being so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Emailed the store asking if they had any turtle related jewelry as I find it rather hard to find. Received a response in less than 24 hours with a photo of 2 lovely gold turtles.I asked for help to find a nice gold chain to go with it and the staff put together a wonderful piece with the 2 turtles. I etransfered to cost and picked up my jewelry that day after work in less than 5 minutes and my girlfriend loves them ! Excellent service excellent people and the way they handled COVID precautions was superb .Professional,polite and 100% what I wanted ...bravo gentleman you are awesome!

Rude staff and thankful there is kijiji. presumed I knew very little if anything about running a business when I asked why he would give me less than half of what was already on display, an item that goes very quick. His sales pitch of what goes into the evaluation and making PHI, fee that is, was more like a guilt trip of paying wages, hydro, and every other overhead cost he could think of just to make it sound like more of an arduous and painstaking day in his line of work. My experience with the people who work here are absolutely amazing. Professional,clean,friendly and if they see you enough they will make you laugh and joke around. They make you feel very comfortable and answer all questions and are so patient with me when I'm looking for jewelry for my husband or myself.they have awesome selection's very organized. I have been going to Thompsons for a great many years now, and these guys are great. A special thanks to Andrew for helping me with my 2 most recent purchases. I bought a Schecter guitar and a Logical-Green Jimmy, six string, both electric six string. These are my first guitars ever and Andrew was fantastic in helping me with both these fine guitars..I get my strings, picks, guitar straps and even my guitar stands are from here. You guys are tops in my books, and always have been..thank you for another great buying experience.

Really disappointed with my experience with this local business today. A nice big shop with lots of items, at least one decent guy working there, and not too much else I can say about the place that would be very kind. Brought in two guitars (worth 1000 and 800 bucks used on Kijiji or Reverb), got offered $150 each when I was thinking a loan of 250 each wouldn’t be an issue. Apparently it was. Happy to take my business to Buy and Sell City, Burlington. Gave me what I asked, no issue, happy to pay them their 25%.

These are probably the most awful and rude people I’ve ever had the displeasure of doing business with,it’s bad enough and embarrassing enough to have to rely on a pawn shop,but for a short little spiked haired dwarf looking individual to make things even worse is just plain unacceptable and unnecessary and most of of unprofessional to say the least.Hamilton Gold is a lot better prices and way way better service,they don’t take advantage of your situation

This place is so so rude and a rip off cash for gold offered me 3x more then this place expecting I didn't know anything about jewellery and I have heard the same from 100s of people since I am in the buying and jewellery selling business. Took my tennis bracelet and my engagement ring in for repair. One of the links had broken on the bracelet and a claw from my engagement set was missing. I was welcomed in and quoted a very reasonable price for both repairs. I left my items and received a call about 5hrs later that my items were complete. Not recommended for heirloom pieces. I usually need to repair the claws in my ring every 5-8 years, depending on how frequently I'm wearing it. Unfortunately, the poor work here lasted only one year. Whats worse was when I did bring it in, there was no offer to fix it, was told I'd have to pay again and that "it's just old".

I have purchased and pawned at this place many times over the past 30yrs and have always been treated with professionalism and respect. Very knowledgeable and professional staff and most if not all staff have been there for yrs. They have a great selection of stuff from tools to electronics to musical and collectables

I tried giving this place the opportunity today to 'wow' me with a hidden gem. But since the attitude of the doorman made me feel as welcome as a fart in church, I simply walked out and gave a handful of C-notes to a brilliant jeweler by the mall. Good Attitude = Good Sales Bad Attitude = No Sales Hopefully this helps

Disappointed in this store. They sold me a damaged lens and hid that by not allowing me to test the lens under disguise of COVID restrictions. Then upon return they refuse to let both my friend and I into the store yet turned around and let a couple into the store right after. Poor service and poor attitude!

I purchased jewelry on 3 separate occasions and had the best experience. I purchased 2 stunning rings that needed to be resized and a diamond pendant that needed a longer chain. The service and sizing of the rings was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend GW Thompson and will be back in the near future!

Over the years I have bought a lot of nice jewellery here. Only once I had a piece that a broke. They fixed it right away no questions asked. Great service and friendly salesperson, I use the same guy all the time not sure his name but he is the younger one. My wife LOVES this place.

Dont trust the workers here. They did not test my ring properly and ended up ruining it. They didnt say anything when they gave my ring back to me and just suggested that i keep my ring. Very shady and unprofessional behavior
