I love Gail’s and regularly visit Gail’s Dulwich Village but was so disappointed on visiting Gail’s East Dulwich on 23rd March . I ordered baked eggs and toast but was told that the man who did the cooking was on a break so it was unavailable .I ordered a quiche instead ! There were four other employees chatting behind the counter . I went to find a table and the only one available was covered in food etc as was the floor beneath the table . I went to the counter to ask if it could be cleared ? Two employees looked surprised that I had asked ! Eventually someone came to clear the up by which time I had found another table . I also visited the toilet , the hand drier was out of order and there were no hands towels so there was no way to dry my hands . I returned to my table and observed an employee carrying a tray barge past a woman with a baby in a pushchair and also a toddler . Today I did not meet a Gail’s employee that showed respect for customers, I observed employees that seemed to be put out by customers being there ! I will not return to Gail’s East Dulwich.
Beautiful new Gail’s in the old home of Brick House (a previous East Dulwich institution). While Gail’s is a chain, it’s one heck of a good one, and this is perhaps their best branch yet. A beautiful industrial building that’s been renovated to keep some shabby chic styling while also feeling warm and welcoming. The staff are really friendly and there’s plenty of space for large groups as well as spots for popping in on your own to kill some time. It’s probably worth mentioning that Gail’s does amazing baked goods and their cinnamon buns are to die for. They’ve got some good coffee (also see Bon, Spinach, and Oru Space for good coffee on lordship lane). Beautiful spot, delicious pastries, good coffee… what more could you want?!
My wife, daughter and in laws came here before the Dulwich park and got a few pastries. They were all great, and it was the perfect day for this. Heres what we got: - cinnamon roll (definitely coming back for another one of these). - sausage roll (yum, but extra fatty) - blueberry custard roll (this was bomb and we all wanted more of it.)

Disappointed I usually love Gail's and all its treats. Popped in to get a takeaway sausage roll, no offer to warm it up (given how cold it's been would have been a lovely treat.) I bit into my room temperature sausage roll, only to find it was raw in the middle. Won't be buying here again, plenty of other coffee shops on Lordship Lane that sell cooked food.
I am so glad this has opened nearby and would be here most days if it wasn’t for those entrance doors… I can’t be the only person to be put off by this, with a pram in tow they are SO awkward and heavy!! I live round the corner and it’s the only thing stopping me from visiting more regularly!

Was served by Charlie at the till, and can say that staff were very friendly and warm. Coffee was decent and food was nice. Don’t go to Gail’s that often so I don’t have too much experience with the chain but this cafe in particular was quite nice and I would recommend to anyone wanting maybe a quick bite to eat and a coffee!
I got given the completely wrong order and only thought to check the bags when I was already nearly home. The pastries also had flies on them as it’s just a massive open counter. Really disappointed with this branch and the fact I paid nearly FOUR POUNDS for one croissant and got given some random muffin instead
Lovely space with friendly staff and the food is always delicious! For those who complain about the “price of indoor sandwiches”, you spend more in the pub instead of eating a good-quality-ingredients sandwich that will only nurture your body rather than damage your liver the way alcohol famously does. …
If there is such thing as Heaven on Earth, it is Gail's. It never disappoints and has such a nice selection of sweet and savoury meals. The drinks are also nice. One of my favourite places to eat at for a reasonable price! Staff were also very friendly.

A pretty selection of savoury and sweet treats! I love a quick pick up for breakfast on the run and they offer healthy options. Big space indoors but I prefer to just take away. I love the breakfast pots and the breakfast buns and pastries are delicious too!
I know it's another chain but this place is reliable and the food and drinks are always good. Plus this is a particularly nice venue with high ceilings and easy-going ambience. It's even relaxing for us parents with plenty of buggy space …
I love this place. Great looking and clean interior, lots of space for pushchairs and delicious food. The staff are super friendly, particularly Neil and Dorian in the kitchen who always take time to chat to my son, which he loves!
It's like regular a Gail's but lots of menu items aren't available. Good coffee but the sugar/lid station is in the wrong place. Feels slightly soulless. Unfortunately, the manger is scruffy and wears un-ironed shirts.
I couldn’t believe it when I stumbled across the new Gail’s just off Lordship Lane. I had parked outside to get a coffee at Caffé Nero and was planning to stop in the Village to pick up a sourdough anyway - result!
It’s okay, but because they allow dogs in there, there is dog hair in the food sometimes , and flies (they do not cover the food on display- it’s just left out). Also, too expensive for what it is
Olive sourdough was delicious, thank you for the great recommendation East Dulwich team - my first time in a Gail’s and definitely not the last!

I am an absolute addict for the honey cakes. If you try these you will never want a dry clapped cupcake again. Its a usual go to for me. Its pricey but great value for what it is.
Disappointing that they remain very dog unfriendly. Just been out to goose green to walk the dogs and discovered Gail’s nearby. So said to see they don’t allow dogs.
Lovely pastries, cute setting.

Popped in for a cup of coffee. The interior is lovely and spacious. Lots of space for people to meet with friends or work. Coffee was delicious.
Food is so delicious, and like other people have said, it is nice and spacious; however, the prices are extortionate, especially in these times.
The staff are so brilliant! The vibe is very relaxed and the food is gorgeous but I’m so grateful for the staff being so great with my kids
Welcoming and friendly people; lots of space to sit and lots of space for buggies and high chairs. A great choice of food and good coffee.
Best Gail’s branch! Staff are so lovely and helpful. 10/10 recommend

Not dog friendly. We were 4 very pregnant ladies and they kicked us out because of the spaniel (well under control).
Delicious cinnamon buns ☕ friendly staff and lovely space. New hiden place in Dulwich. Definitely coming back. …
The Salami sandwich is amazing! The right size too. Only downside is location but works for me parking wise …
Lovely addition to the lane. They seem pretty well organised. Lots of seating and people co working out the back.
Food is delicious and it’s nice to have the opportunity to sit in. Will be going there again and again.
Gail's Bakery is a hidden jewel of East Dulwich. Perfect place to enjoy pastry and coffee.
Staff are incredibly friendly. The coffee and food are great. My favourite place to be :)
Cynthia was so helpful and friendly. Made the experience at Gails a good one
They sell sesame-seeded challah. Good supply on Fridays as well.
Awesome range of pastries and cakes, don't go in hungry …
I normally a big fan of Gail's But this place its empty.
Good quality coffee & really friendly staff.
Nice, spacious, and a lovely environment.
helpful staff, great environment
Little gems of food on a plate
good coffee team …
