As an ex employee, to let people know, before the reviews regarding the smell, they were working on the plumbing systems so that would explain the smell. It's not backed up sewage(from what I was told on my very minor tour before I was just put to work), it's just regular sewage that's being brought to the surface due to the minor construction happening. As for what it's like to work there, it was...ok, I guess. I worked as bowling counter attendant before I was moved to Admin, but I prefer the BCA than Admin. I got to talk and interact with a lot of people, get their shoes, and help with some cleanup at the end of one night. Then the Admin position came up because there wasn't anyone in the reservation offices for the evening shifts, and I was asked to fill it. Which I did happily, more hours means more money so why not. I was told to come in an hour early by the GM for personal training, but was told when I got there that he wasn't in that night. I was given very little training and was just told to answer calls, let customers know if we are max cap or taking walk-ins(reservations office doesn't do same day bookings, you do that online) and take notes of who wants to book for a later date(which is full name, phone number, and date you wanna book for and how many lanes). I wasn't allowed nor able to do it myself as they didn't bring me into the reservation system proper. I was just...the plan B I guess. Then my hours got cut. Had to beg, then they gave me one day where the office was meant to be closed(stat holiday, it was family day) where I had to tell people anyway that onlines were closed and backed up and to walk-in anyway(which is what the GM said they were hoping to avoid, but that means more money at the arcade and rec room but whatever...) My hours got cut and I wasn't being given any shifts at all for literal weeks. Even when I brought it up, my GM just said it was because the admin team was trained(which I wasn't included in despite having been switched over??) and the Bowling Counter was filled up(which was a lie, I checked and found only one person worked the morning and one worked the evening when two are needed at evening, one for payments and one for the shoes). Was looking for another part time job as I waited cuz I knew I wasn't gonna get much there. Then the next week came, no shifts again, and then I was told that due to the lack of available shifts I was let go. A little sad, but I still did the best with the little training I was given, and I still enjoyed my time working there. So, three stars it is.

I enjoy coming here for pool and bowling and I have been coming here since gateway lanes first opened it doors... While on my most recent visit the bowling was great... It was also absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced here... Possibly anywhere. We were a group of 15 to 20 who stayed roughly 3 hours and in that time the waitress came only twice to take our orders (and no we did not order so much as to overwhelm her). Additionally we could not get her to leave us even a single menu as more people joined the group while the evening progressed... Those who ordered food or drink were charged a mandatory tip of 18 percent for this extremely lackluster service (I understand mandatory tipping in large groups but 18%? And then to be prompted to tip again when paying? It was a slap in the face) And those who chose not to order food or drink were all charged an additional 2$ per person for the mandatory tip when paying for their bowling... We were asked to pay immediately upon receiving our food and did not see the waitress again for the entire night after paying which prevented us from actually ordering more drinks and food) The one person who dared to order a glass of water was glared at upon making the order and again upon receiving the order (considering the 18% mandatory tip the waitress should have jumped happily to serve the water since she was one of the people who also ordered food) We will think twice now before ever returning to gateway lanes again let alone booking as a group to bowl again.

We attended a birthday party over the weekend. I really liked that it was 10 pin, the 'old' style where you knock over the pins and they get swept away. I liked they had the supports for younger kids to be able to push their ball off a slide which became a game in itself. I liked that the bumbers were electric so it could differ from player to player. Let's say the adult didn't want bumpers but the kids do then the bumpers go up and down between players. The party room was really awesome, but there was a lot of empty time between bowling and laster tag (maybe expecting the kid to open gifts between) but make sure you bring something for the kids to do between or they do laps around and kinda get in the way. The laser tag was awesome, I was able to walk around inside while the kids played so that if there were any problems I could moderate and we didn't share the space with anyone else which was nice. The staff were friendly and prompt with service. Would go back, but with smaller groups of kids for bowling. Larger for Lazer tag but the 7 year Olds got bored waiting for their turn.

This is the perfect place for a chill night out or wild night out with you and your friends. So many games to place, decent food choices, and good services. My only reason for three star was because of an incident that happened not too long ago. I ordered a cup of sprite for my drink, but got soda water instead, shared my concern with my server and asked for sprite. The second time it was still soda water. I went to the front to cancel my order with out any fuss (I only took one sip of each drink). At the end of the night, my server asked me to pay for BOTH DRINKS, after my explanation, she gave me the sassiest look and let me go. I didn’t go to the managers or anything, didn’t want anyone in trouble, if I order was wrong and I returned it to the front, there needs to be better communication between the front desk and waiters. And THE AUDACITY TO MAKE ME PAY FOR TWO WRONG DRINKS

We have been going to this place for so many years, but never had any issues. Customer service was always good, and even if we had any problems, staff was so polite and accommodating. We went today with my family and we ordered just Nachos. They were so late and cold. When i went up to the bar and asked manager that this is cold and i had same experience twice here. He was so drunk and he told me, " if you don't like the food then don't order it, just play the game and go". I was soooo shocked. I realized he was drunk so i didn't want to create any scene i just told him to give my money back , i don't want to come back here . He was shouting at the chefs, was rude to servers. I don't know if he's a manager or owner, but i would never go back to this business until they apologize and improve.

So back in January, I had my little girls birthday here. It was a nightmare! Long story short, we got a handful of coupons for free games. Ok cool. Well... we decided to cash in today. Any time we would even begin to have fun, our lane would freeze, or not reset or move to someone else and it not be there turn. Anything that could go wrong , did. It wouldn't have been so bad, had the girl at the bowling counter with the ginger hair and terrible blue nail manicure wasn't so catty and condescending. I definitely won't be back here. Ever! I even have a free party package still that I'm just not even going to use. This place just doesn't have a friendly environment anymore and it is such a shame. I'll stick to Bonnie Doon.

Was an amazing place till I left my wallet with my boyfriend on top of the bar table, while I went to the washroom. I came back and it was not there. Went back to the bathroom and it was not there .I looked everywhere and asked around if anybody saw it or returned it. A few days later the police brought my wallet back to me but my $500 that was in cash was completely gone and a few gift cards I had in there. the lady’s working at the bar told police they found it inside the same washroom that I looked in three different times before leaving the building. Not the best and honest people working there. Those girls working at the bar are young and probably just wanted an extra few tips

Laser Tag.. So we came here to play 15 minutes of laser tag.. Kids were super excited, everything stayed out great but it was short lived.. 5 minutes into the game my gun stopped working.. Then 5 minutes after that my game shut off saying game over so I didnt get 15 minutes barely 10 minutes. Next my daughters vest won’t work, she could get shot but couldn’t shoot. When we brought it up to staff they told us it’s fine but at end of game she had zero kills so we brought it up again and he laughed at my 8 yr old.. Not cool Husbands gun kept shutting off and turning back on So 1 out of 4 of us had no issues in 15 minute game.. Go to Laser City

Experience best described as OK... We paid for 5 people but the game ended too early. The staff claimed that we had only paid for three people but reluctant extended our game but not enough. We had to ask them a second time to extend our game for us to even finish. The bowling lanes were good and no problems with that but when a bowling ball got stuck in the gutter the staff refused to help saying it wouldn't effect our game but there was a pin missing when the lane reset. Washrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a while and had paper towels all over the floor.

Just went with my friends this weekend after not visiting this place since I was a child. Still the same great multi recreational place I've been too! Bowling is at a fair price, and the laser tag should not be overlooked! You've never bonded with your friends until you're all running around in the dark, sneaking around corners, or snipping eachother to get those points. The service was great too! I think her name was Morgan (omg I'm so sorry if I got that wrong), she made us feel appreciated and she was super nice! 10/10 wanna bring everybody here!

Writing this as I am walking out the door after 2 games. Ordered drinks in our 2nd frame last game, they came when I was about to finish my last turn of the entire night. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me, shouldn't have even walked over to me with a debit machine and expect me to pay for it. Shift change shouldn't affect how you do your job. I used to come here a lot as a child, it's a rip off and service is poor at best now. Donated my wine to another bowler and paid for it because I'm not a total piece of it, like the staff is.

If you grew up here, chances are you went to a birthday party at Gateway :) The facility still has both the old and the new (gradually refreshing their look and amenities but the nostalgia was great), attentive food and drink service throughout, bowling shoes looked brand new. 4 lanes were booked in advance for a company social and we stuck around for walk-in billiards later in the night. Laser Tag is currently under renovation and expected to be unveiled at the end of April 2023.

The bowling was fun! The staff not so much. The waitress seemed to not want to be there, and annoyed that we ordered a meal to share to start with . I was pretty clear that we'd order more later in the evening but I didnt give the chance too. The waitress closed out our tab before the first game was finished and said then we could order more if we wanted but then disappeared for the rest of the night. Not a great date night when you arrive home hungry after going out for dinner.

The overall gaming experience was really fun. However, there were some glitches with the bowling board. It didn't ruin the night, but some others had more glitches than us, which would be a huge bummer if we had to wait multiple times for service. Also, the women's bathrooms were really gross. Feel bad for those who bowled near the bathrooms in the lower area because it smelt funky. Our server was also super friendly. This was an overall okay experience.

The worker had good intentions to help us get set up, but he got swamped. He told us he would get us light balls for the kids, the ramp as well. I took a star off because he could have called for help so that he could honour his commitment to me and my family. Other than that, it was pretty much perfect. Didn't order food. It used to be really good back in the day, but it was all deep-fried. Things may have changed since then though.

If you’re looking for a night of great fun, this is it! My family and I enjoyed our time their last night. We had a lane reserved and got in right away. Within five minutes, we were all set up and ready to play. The bartender was super prompt at getting our drinks and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Greatly appreciate the good customer service as they put effort into making customers happy! Will definitely be back!

Always a great time. Service was decent, but could have been better. Would have preferred if they notified when an alcoholic beverage was placed at the table, especially when there are young children there grabbing drinks off the table. Had spent a birthday party there in a couple of the bowling lanes with a party of around 10. Bumper bowling worked as expected for the kids, and the regular lane was sufficient for the 6 adults.

The bowling was good, kind of. The waitress was very slow and even forgot about stuff. At the end, she gives us the bill with already an 18% gratuity added. I give here $120.00 cash and she still asked for the remaining $10 of my change. Darling, your service wasn't worth the $17.37 I already gave you! Top it of, the other people we were with were charged the same 18% Drinks are $8.50 and warm Arcade sucks too

First off - charged full pop on Tuesday for 11 people at 140… but renting the whole spot for 30 min would be 115. Would be nice to let you know that. Waited an hour and a half to bowl… hence why we went to laser tag to begin with. So it’s not like we were trying to be cheap. We wanted to entertain the kids over winter break. Went to bowl and our lane was broken halfway through and messed up all our games.

It is a nice place to spend some time with family and friends, but I can't give it full stars. I noticed that a few of the negative reviews are about a lady from the counter being rude, and I can't help but agree. Very unwelcoming, not sure if we are all talking about the same person, but someone needs to brush up her customer service skills. If I ever come back, I hope it won't be during her shift again.

Went to play pool and pool section was rented out for private party. I wasted my time and money to get there. If you are going to run a business like this then put on your website that it might be rented out for private functions. Obviously the owners are ignorant towrd other people's time. Next time I plan on going somewhere else and suggest the same for others. Rude and ignorant way to run a business.

Booked Lazer tag for a group for 1 hr . The facility smelled badly of backing up sewage which made me nauseated and dizzy while playing Lazer tag.. when brought up as a concern to the 13 yr old working the counter he sprayed air fresheners and said nothing like he knew it was an issue. Disgusting. The whole place smelled when you walk in the main entrance but Lazer tag was unbearable.. waste of $240

Wow this place is very disrespectful! Went in and asked them if we could put the gutters up they say NO even though other lanes had them up! We asked why they couldn’t they just declined. The red hair, white woman is racist and should be fired! She started saying racial slurs to us, never have I ever been this disrespected. This place is rude, pathetic, and racist! Avoid this place at all costs!

If you are looking to bowl, this is a great alley. There are 30 lanes, but on busier days there can be a wait. The customer service is good, and they extended our game for free after a miscommunication about the number of players. Overall, I would definately come here again, but remember that you can't bring outside food, so bring money, however they do provide water and cups for free.

They open at 12:00 p.m and we arrived roughly at 12:15 p.m., There was only one couple ahead of us, but by time we started the third hole, there were 4 other groups behind us. As we progressed, several other groups came, so I would suggest getting there at opening time. There are 18 holes of various difficulties, and the course is well lit. Great fun for all ages.

We had lots of fun at this entertainment centre. The bowling is lots of fun and they have a number of 8 inches balls that are not too heavy.... The foods also tastes very nice and quite affordable. The staffs are helpful and courteous. They have reservations for a large group of people and also game rooms for adults and children. Highly recommended.....

Recently had my sons 10th birthday at Gateway. The hostesses, Amrit and Reigen went over and above to make sure our party was taken care of. We had a combo of bowling, arcade games and a big Shout out also to Tanner who provided excellent customer service making sure we were happy. This is a fun, clean and friendly place to host any kids party!

Super fun place to go bowling, especially on Tuesdays when there is the deal on. The seating is comfy, the layout/separation of the lanes is nice. We did have quite a few problems with pins not fully resetting or coming down. The glow bowling experience is fun once it actually comes on/lights turn low. Overall a good experience with friends!

Staff and service were great, aside from that, the place smelled like sewage, allegedly from a back up the week prior. I understand how difficult these things are to deal with, but it was beyond noticeable in areas. I felt bad for the staff that had to spend all night with it. Aside from that, service was stellar, and we had a good time.

Bar and food service is pretty consistently slow. The place often smells funky. The kids enjoy it though. I visit often with the kids for bowling, billiards and arcade games. As an adult I would prefer to go elsewhere and pay more for better service but the kids don't seem to mind... The place just seems understaffed all the time.

So disappointing, there is never a lane available, So I try to the arcade games and they didn't have coins, then try to play pool. 2 hours wait list. I ask why if they have to many tables and they told me don't have balls. Even other times when I could get a lane the dam thing never work properly. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

Really enjoy this place! Reasonably priced for all amenities! Great place to take the family for bowling and laser tag! Also a good place to go hang out with friends, they serve alcohol and food aswell so makes for a fun night out! They have a ton of bowling lanes so there is usually not to much of a wait to get the fun started!

We were looking for a team building activity after our tournament game and decided to try out gateway. The booking process was outstanding, Mackenna took care of us and the kids all had a blast. We bowled for an hour then played some laser tag. The kids and adults all enjoyed the food, we will definitely be going back!!!!

It was a fun Tuesday bowling night with my InterNation group. I like the idea of the common disco lights ambiance of the place. It gives a perfect upbeat feeling while playing. However, the lanes that we were playing was not cooperating tonight. Balls return delays, pins alignment issues,etc. Overall, it was just okay.

The service for which I had already paid did not work, although when I paid I was not informed that the service was not working, and they refused to make a refund, arguing that they do not make refunds, I wrote them an email explaining the situation but no one answered me. I have to give this place one star …

It's a great place for bowling especially if you plan a team outing, also a great choice if you want to go out with friends, good snacks and drinks as well. You get the bowling shoes so even winter time is a good time to go here. If you plan to go with a team it's better to book in advance, there is parking as well.

The service was somewhat lacking, I believe it's an unstaffing issue. Bowling lane I was on had multiple issues throughout the night, the VR systems were also not working. I have faith this could be rated higher with more staff and some maintenance on some of their equipment. Manager was super helpful that night.

Booked my son's 8th birthday here. I think the packages were super reasonable. The kids had a great time. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. We even had to deal with an injury (kid's fault), and everyone came to help and did first aid immediately. I'd definitely have another birthday celebration here.

Was here for 11yr olds Birthday, June 2022. Service was mediocre or non existant. Gravy on fries was so salty was almost not edible. Laser vests were extremely old and everyone agreed they didn't work correctly. On the plus side the room had a TV with Disney channel and a few others that worked properly.

Went with a company I work for as a social event. The service and food was okay. We thought we already asked for an extension for our game but we just waited until we just gave up. The machine that resets the pins was broken for our game so there are times when one could get an instant strike.

Smelled very bad, The balls were so slippery, they had absolutely no grip on them. Customer service was brutal, they were so disrespectful. The lanes kept breaking which wasted all of our time. There was also beer bottles everywhere, they don’t take care of it at all. Don’t recommend. L place

It was a great night with friends. Last time I was at this place I think it was Christmas 6 years ago, for team building fun activities. We had chicken and beef tacos for dinner, in their private room, and a couple of drinks per person. It was reasonably priced for about 3 hours at the venue.

A great place to spend an evening! We went on a Tuesday when they have their 'half-priced' deals going on, as well as glow bowling. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was great, albeit a bit crowded but thats no fault of the facility. No one could resist a good deal!

Bowling was fun - but I'm severely allergic to cigarette smoke, and the main doors are not monitored. Smokers are right outside the door, when the automatic doors open - it pulls the smoke right in. Making it severely smokey in the entrance and hard to breath. I won't be coming back.

We went there to play a round of mini golf on a Saturday. It was decently busy. We had to wait a bit before we were called, but it wasn't too bad. The staff was polite and professional. It would be nice if there were other activities than arcade games to play while waiting.

The concept is really good. I like the distribution of the space in so many different sections for playing different games also for eat and drink. It needs some renovations in general. The laser tag area in the most but the staff told us renovations are planned very soon.

A classic bowling centre, fun to play as always. Although it seems they have problems with their lanes and machinery quite regularly, while playing we had our lane fixed twice, it lagged a multiple times. Also the food is too expensive, about 3x the regular price...

We took our son here for bowling on his birthday. We didn't have to line up as there was a lane open considering the place was busy. Excellent facility with different things to do. Service was great! Server came around asking if we wanted to order drinks or food.

Visited this place with for my gf's bowling tournament. The place is well lit and the lanes were great. The place is upkept well and it's located near restaurants and hotels. Located south Edmonton it's near the outlet mall if you're into that sort of thing.

The lanes are great and Tuesday night is loads of fun during black night bowling. The staff are not informative and the food is less than satisfactory. Our group has eaten there three times, trying different food each time and it's not worth bragging about.

Had my daughters birthday tonight in the troll room, staff was sooo nice and helpful ,we had ultimate package Laser tag was fun and onto bowling then in party room. Nothing but great things to say about this business and staff I'll definitely be back again

Nice south side Edmonton place to meet up with friends and hang out. The service throughout the bowling area and bar is very slow. Had a few times while bowling that the pin setting machine got stuck. The staff is quick to help out with the bowling issues.

Love this place! Everything is affordable and the food is great, especially the nachos. On our last visit there, we had an awesome server named Mysty, she was super attentive to everyones needs, even with how busy it was that day. Props to the whole team

Great place to bowl, maybe get an extra staff member on busy nights to be watching the lanes only because we had a group beside us standing in our lane eating and drinking, and we had to do the job of the staff to get them to go back to the eating areas.

Great Comedy show on site (check your headliners!) But the decor was a bit dated. The bowling is on point. The pool hall is fun. And the mini put is worth trying at least once. Would recommend for a night out with your partner, or just for family fun.

Front desk manager, an older woman, didn’t take my concerns seriously when I explained the lane wasn’t resetting my pins as it was jamming between every frame. She told me that it was normal and all the lanes are like that. Pretty bad experience.

Really disappointed with the service here. I remember it being an amazing place. Service was so slow. Server wasn’t happy when I asked her to clean the table from the people before us, this place has gone down till for sure. Would not recommend.

Very nice service. A lot of lanes and pool tables. Plus if any problem with the lane, staff will fix it right away. Moreover, you can order food and drinks wherever you are playing. Staff comes and ask themselves for any assistance.

We hosted a birthday party and it was wonderful. The party host was very humble and so cooperative. We picked Ulyimate package which includes bowling and laser tag. Kids enjoyed a lot, everyone had load of fun and loads of memories.

This place stinks of Sewer! And it's been like this for a while now. The service at busy times are not good either. It was very good in the past. Actually celebrated my birthday here once. Quite disappointing now- Dec 2022

We've been here for date nights with friends, as a family, and lastly as a birthday party. The party team was super organized, and on time with food and bowling. We will absolutely be hosting birthday parties here again.

Always fun to visit this place. No problem with parking. Come early if you want to play bowling. Bowling is more expensive on Fridays. There's also an arcade with guitar hero and pacman. Great for family time. Have fun!

The facility was very crowded when I was there, the washrooms were gross but overall a really fun place to hangout with friends! Huge thanks to Daniel for his great service and help with the lanes. Will be coming back!

Great place with multiple activities. Just don't forget to book a lane in advance. Pool tables can be backed up pretty quickly but sitting at the bar for a few drinks and laughs is pretty available while you wait.

This is my regular place for pool and I love the atmosphere. The staff are really friendly too. Food is quite expensive though, and some pool tables are in inconvenient spots (very close to walls) or curved.

We experienced technical problems on lane 27. Many times during our bowling game needed to call staff to fixing it, couldn't really enjoy the bowling game constantly interrupted. Otherwise great place to go.

Stopped in for some drinks and fun! Great options between laser tag, bowling and pool plus the random small games. Lots of TVs to watch the sports too. Was an enjoyable evening! I’ll be back again for sure!

Had a company Halloween party, the catered tacos, which were amazing. Had great service from all staff. In the past this place was not great, but this visit was awesome. Must have new owners or management.

Great atmosphere had a blast but the lane on the side that we are on didn't have any speakers or music so that was the only downfall but hopefully they get that fixed and yeah just enjoy yourself

Plenty of things to do, if you bring kids, they have laser tag and mini golf. Fair prices especially on Tuesday when they have a deal. I'd recommend booking for pool and bowling as it gets busy.

Been here a few times, the service is inconsistent. Sometimes amazing, today they look straight at you and ignore you. Lazer tag is fun. Bowling is good they do have lots of glitches.

It was fun but the place smelled like a sewer and definitely they need to re invest back into upkeep for the bathrooms and the laser tag is ancient. The arcade games are really old.

Great place to bowl, definitely going back. They made hosting a bday party easy there.

Great service and really kind workers! A bit expensive per game but enjoyable.

Nice place to hangout. some music and lights would be better with the bowling.
