Let me start with the good, Liz is so easy to get along with and gives fantastic hair cuts. Both my wife and I have been utilizing Liz for over a year, which is why my now wife asked her if she could do her hair for our wedding on 12/18/21. Liz happily agreed to do my wife and all of her bridesmaids hair. Now for the bad. In the days leading up to the wedding, Liz's communication with my wife was not only poor, it was simply absent. When my wife reached out about final details and the timeline a couple days before the wedding, Liz never text her back and later stated she accidentally text the wrong person. She also told my wife a day before the wedding that she had booked appointments starting at 1:00pm the day of OUR wedding. My wife told her pictures for the bride and groom started at 1:00pm, so without double checking with my wife she took it upon herself to schedule appointments anyways. So, in order to get all the girls' hair done, one girl had to start at 9am, and when she showed up to the salon, Liz was nowhere to be found. Liz didn't show up until 1030am. And because she was behind on time, she hardly did anything with 2 of the girl's hair. It is unacceptable to agree to do hair for a wedding and then show by your actions you do not care. My wife and I will not return to Liz going forward.

I was visiting from out of town and needed a color appointment. A friend suggested Gem and I booked an appointment with Ciara. From the minute I sat down, it felt like Ciara had been coloring my hair for years. She made some suggestions on adjusting the tone of my highlights and then worked her magic. I could not be happier with my color and am amazed that she intuitively understood my hair and what I wanted without seeing me before. I also felt very well taken care of and she gave me a lot of good, and new, information about how to care for my hair. I had such a good experience with her that I made an appointment for my sister to get a haircut the following week and can say her cuts are equally as good. Again, the care and attention she gave was fantastic. Even though I live out of town, I am planning a return visit for a cut and color, the next time I am here. Thank you Ciara and thank you Gem!

I have really enjoyed my visits to Gem. All of the staff are very kind and super attentive. I see Christopher for my hair, and he is really knowledgeable and attentive to my hair type (I have naturally thick, wavy, loose curly hair). I appreciate this a TON, because in the past stylists will ruin the texture of my hair in the drying process by blowing it straight, or cut my hair in a way that looks odd for my wild, curly texture. My hair looks great walking out the door rather than me having to wash my hair the same night just to reset my hair texture back to normal! I would really recommend Gen overall—the salon itself has a good energy to it with natural lighting and an open floor plan. The massage chairs are a nice touch too I plan to return again in the near future!

I am hesitant to go anywhere I don’t absolutely need to these days but I am SO GLAD I went to Gem! Not only did I get a fabulous hair cut and everything I want from a salon experience, I felt SO SAFE! The Gem team is doing an amazing job taking every precaution possible and utilizing they’re beautiful and large space for social distancing; - Online booking was simple - My temperature was taken at the door - I was never close to another customer - The salon is spotless, you can absolutely tell they are keeping up with deep cleaning - Staff was cleaning frequently while I was there Gem is doing anything and everything that can be done to serve their customers safely. THANK YOU, GEM!

Had a appointment at 1255 on 11/3 and I arrived about 5 minutes early to check in. When I checked in I was told to take a seat while I was waiting and was offered coffee, or water. No one mentioned that my Stylist was running behind and I waited until 1220, and with no one at the receptionist desk I left because I didn't have enough time left in my day to get a haircut. They noticed 5 minutes after I left when they were ready to take me back, and called me to see where I was, and only then did they apologize for not letting me know how late the stylist was. This would of been my first time at this salon, I will not be back because of the lack of respect for my time.

This was the first time Naomi did my hair and the first time I have been to Gem Salon. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and liked, I couldn't not have loved it more. I was so happy with it. Naomi and her co workers were so friendly, fun, and welcoming from the moment I walked in until I left. I felt like we have known each other forever. I have never had a hair stylist who chatted with me the whole appointment, instead of looking at myself in a mirror for hours. I had so much fun and just love my color/cut and updo for my wedding. Thank you so much Naomi. I seriously can't get over how much I love my hair and I will definitely be coming back.

I had never been to the salon before, but I will definitely be going back! Fantastic service! Elizabeth was able to squeeze me in within a few hours notice on a busy Saturday! She did a fantastic job, cutting my hair and helping color it! Jamie did an amazing job to fix my damaged pink hair and bring me back to my natural brown! I had an event to get to that afternoon, And Elizabeth and Jamie went above and beyond to not only do an amazing job on my hair, but getting me done just in time for the event! Liz was so knowledgeable and knew exactly what I was asking for and was more than happy to give me what I wanted. I had been to other salons and they were too conservative with my request. She was thorough with explaining how she was going to cut my hair to get the style I was aiming for. She also had amazing patience as I had to sit on the phone for a bit because my boss was calling me about an emergency at my job. Favorite thing: the incredible scalp and head massage I got with my conditioning treatment. It helped ease my stress about work and enjoy pampering myself. Go see Liz!

I am over the moon satisfied with my entire experience at Gem! Trying out a new place can be fun, and this salon was absolutely worth every second. The location is nestled in a chill yet happenin' part of the city, and the salon space itself is the most hip, eclectic and chic place I've ever set foot in. Kat was so kind and charming, and she gave me a fun new look (blowout) that I felt I could own fearlessly. Seldom does this happen, so I am super grateful to have been pampered by her! I think this is going to be a fun little before vs during vs after review, because I haven’t even officially worked with Liz yet. I had a consult today to go over primary concerns with my hair and she truly made me feel so validated and okay with where I was at in my hair journey, and really does seem to care about producing results that are long-lasting. She made me feel so comfortable and she’s trustworthy. I’m beyond excited to work with her in a few weeks and am overly confident that I will be providing reviews time and time again.

I couldn't be happier with my experiences at Gem Salon + Spa. The Salon is stunning and has such cutting-edge appeal! You always get treated so well from the moment you step in. Their stylists and technicians are top of the line, professional, knowledgable, and experienced. I see Markus often for my nails as well as massage - he's incredibly talented. I've gone to Natalie for my hair and she did an awesome job! Also, love the owner Molly! They are all great, no matter who you book with - you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended!

First off, this place is AMAZING...the aesthetic, decor, atmosphere is so welcoming and fresh. It’s open, has great lighting and I love how they have the big sofa behind the front desk to wait for your stylist after you check in! Makes you feel incredibly welcomed immediately, I surprisingly enjoyed that a lot haha! I see Naomi who is a color WIZARD. She’s so professional and talented...her highlight/balayage blends are incredible! And she’s so sweet and fun to talk to! Loved my visit and would recommend this place to everyone!

I had a first visit at Gem salon! Everyone is friendly and accommodating; I was called earlier in the day to be told they had openings sooner if I was ready to go, and they got me in about a half hour before my original appointment. Kelly is fantastic! Not only is she experienced and talented, but she is so fun to talk to and puts you at ease. I highly recommend her for any haircut - she gave me great long layers and truly gave me the cut I didn’t even know how to describe but wanted. Go see Kelly and the team at Gem!

This was my first visit to Gem salon. I really liked the space. I was here to get my color touched up and a haircut. I saw Christopher and he is the best! I think he spent 15 - 20 minutes talking with me and asking me questions in the beginning of the appointment, to make sure he understood what I was looking for. He gave a great head massage during the conditioning, stayed past closing time and did not rush. He is a very good stylist, my cut and color looks fabulous! I can't wait for my next appointment.

Kelly did a great job with my hair. She really made an effort to walk me through what she was doing and to make me feel comfortable and assured that I was in good hands. She is attentive and cares a lot about what she does. She took my funky, mixed up fashion colors and turned them into even, natural tones. I'd highly recommend her services to anyone. Not to mention that Gem Salon+Spa is a beautiful place with lovely greenery and a clean and chic aesthetic. Overall, i had a very fun and unique experience!

This was my first time visiting the salon and Alyssa was my stylist. Immediately walking in I saw they had my favorite products along a sale of other products. The girl at the front helped recommend some great products and answer my questions. Alyssa did an awesome job cutting and styling my hair and helped me finalize what products would work best with my hair type and the type of product I was looking for. I definitely found my new neighborhood salon and will he back in a few weeks for a color touch up!

I see Naomi and she is a goddess with color and balayage. I have never had better hair in my life. She is always willing to listen, asks great questions to really understand what I'm looking for, and makes wonderful suggestions. I always have a great experience at the salon, it's comfortable and modern. The front desk staff is kind and patient. The scheduling system is great - I love getting texts and reminders. I enjoy it so much that I started scheduling my husband to come as well and he loves it too!

Owner/stylist is phenomenal! Color choices are always fun and spot on with my skin tone. Hair washing is prob my fave - perfect temp, pressure, and the products smell great. Other services there are really good too. Mani/pedis are the best I’ve ever had. Feel like a lot of positive reviews say these types of things but to put it into perspective - when I moved away I kept two things from home - my doctor and my hair stylist. Can’t say enough great things - great people, amazing services, good vibes!

The staff, and the space were all very welcoming, and not overwhelming. I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to my hair, but I felt really comfortable with Christopher, and trusted that he was really listening to what I wanted. I appreciate that I wasn't being "pushed" to buy any product, but when I had questions, he made sure he described the products, and made sure I knew how to use the products I did pick out. I really enjoyed my time, and experience and I look forward to coming back!

I came in and saw Jamie for a hair + eyebrow color & I *Love* how they both turned out! The color is perfect, and my experience throughout was very enjoyable. The stylists are patient, thorough, and very friendly. I love the salon space as well- open with lots of space and overall very cozy. I will definitely come back for my colorings, as well as my hair cuts! I will definitely recommend coming to Gem Salon to anyone looking for a salon to call theirs. Thank y'all so much! <3

I am SUPER particular when it comes to my hair and have had the hardest time finding a stylist since moving to MN (originally from NC, been here just shy of 5 years). With that said, Tia is LEGIT the only stylist I have seen since my OG stylist in NC that can execute what I want on my head of hair - thicker/courser hair, naturally dark brown. She's made my blonding experience SO amazing all while keeping the integrity of my locks...12 out of 10 recommend them! Thanks again Tia!

Wonderful experience today with Rei!!! I love my cut and color. Rei totally knows what they are doing when it comes to fun & funky hair. I also had the pleasure of seeing them interact with a 90 year old client and they were so sweet with him. The atmosphere was calm, full of natural light, life plants, and welcoming. All of the staff were friendly and caring to the clients and to each other. I can't say enough good things about Gem! This is completely my new salon.

I used Gem Salon for my wedding and Molly did an amazing job!! The staff at Gem Salon is kind and welcoming and helped make the process super easy. Molly listened to what I was looking for, did a trial, and executed it to perfection on the day of! She also did several of bridesmaids hair and they looked amazing! She was timely, organized and made sure we were all ready to go in time for pictures. I would 10/10 recommend Molly for wedding hair and styling services!

Elizabeth is the best! She is welcoming, fun, real, and truly understands how to cut curly hair. I always enjoy my time and the end results of my cut & style. Gem has done a great job of making a safe but still enjoyable experience in the time of COVID. I appreciated receiving an email ahead of my appointment explaining all their new practices and requests from the customer as well. They made sure to put good processes in place prior to reopening and it shows.

Naomi has been cutting and coloring my hair every 3-4 months for almost 3 years now and I have never once left her chair disappointed. I come in with vague (probably annoying) requests such as "I want to keep some length but I feel like I need a good chop", and she nails it every time. I'm even more clueless when it comes to color, so I love that I trust her to just work her magic. She has a true talent and to top it off, she's a great human. 11/10 recommend.

I recently went to the salon to get my hair lighter for the first time ever. I was nervous but they made me feel so comfortable and confident. Molly did my hair and she was incredibly nice and friendly and she did an amazing job. When I went home and realized I would like a few more highlights but didn’t speak up during my appointment they were very friendly/professional and helped me make another appointment as soon as possible. I will be coming back.

Liz was great with her knowledge of cutting techniques and was very nice but I left with shorter hair than I wanted. Even though we spoke about how my curls are, how I normally wear/style my hair and discussed my desired length before the cut. Had it styled straight/wavy by her at the salon so I’m not excited to see how much shorter it is when it’s washed and naturally curly again. Other than that the salon itself seemed to have a nice vibe overrall.

I saw Elizabeth for an adjustment of a previous color I had done because I wasn’t happy with it. (She did not do the original color.) She was very knowledgeable and understanding and did a great job of correcting my color. She seemed happy to be doing it, really took her time, and was super intentional about everything she was doing. The salon receptionist I spoke to was also very accommodating when scheduling my adjustment. Great customer service!

All I can say is PHENOMENAL!!! Elizabeth once again went above and beyond for me. We've been working through a complicated bleach/tone/color correction process and my current results are stellar. This is the best my hair has looked in YEARS. She's been kind, patient, and extra communicative through this process and I can't thank her enough. Every member of staff is friendly and professional as well. I can't wait for my next appointment!

Usually after any hair appointment I leave feeling indifferent about it, like I wasn't able to put what I wanted into words. But after my first appointment at Gem with Richard, I left feeling so excited about my hair transformation! He was able to give me exactly the cut I wanted, and I feel like a brand new person! Richard and the other staff at Gem were super personable and made me feel right at home. I'll definitely be coming back. :)

Gem salon can deliver a great men’s haircut. Elizabeth did an outstanding job. It’s the best haircut I can remember in years. She listens and interprets very well. I didn’t want the stock men’s haircut; she gave my hair just the right amount of zing. I strongly recommend her. To boot, Gem is taking the right steps to maintain a healthy environment; temperature taking, sanitizing, masks work by all. A+ experience all around.

Liz is absolute . I have been a client of hers for a while now and she never disappoints. Always makes time for my conversations and me. She continually impresses me with her artwork (my hair)!!!! Today, I went in needing and change and before I even said anything she said I know what we are doing and got to work. I love my new do. And am so ready for this spring weather and sunshine!!! Gem Spa generally and Bridget specially have given such time and thought as to how to reopen. It necessarily felt different to keep everyone safe but the underlying graciousness and welcome remain. I’m grateful to everyone for the hard work put into bringing clients back in safely. I’ve worked with Bridget for many years and not only is she an excellent stylist, she is such a lovely person who has found a good home at Gem.

I absolutely adore Claire! She is incredibly talented and has given my hair new life. I have wavy, frizzy hair that can be challenging to work with even when I style it straight. Her dry hair cutting technique gives me the best cut and style for my hair. I also always go to her for a balayage color and I consistently get a ton of compliments. Gem Salon + Spa is gorgeous and feels modern and serene. I highly recommend!!

Natalie is simply the very best! She goes above and beyond for clients, is knowledgeable, tasteful, and a lovely person to boot. (Not to mention, she saved my naturally curly hair from a very sad, botched haircut when I was 8 months pregnant and desperate.) She is excellent with color. As Joan Crawford once said: “the most important thing a woman can have- next to talent, of course- is her hairdresser.” I’ve got mine!

My first experience at Gem Salon was amazing! The staff were all very nice and the space is beautiful! Christopher was very helpful and knowledgeable with my hair type. I love my hair coloring and always am so pleased with Rei's work! Their level of attention to detail leads to a natural look, beautifully blending several shades. The end result is vibrant with a seamless grow out process, which i appreciate as someone who takes a more low-maintenance approach to my hair and upkeep. Tia has been taking care of my hair for years, and I’d follow her anywhere - literally - I drive from Madison, WI! This was my first time at Gem with her, and all the new products she used were magical! -And it truly is a little gem! I had SUCH a great experience with Rei! They took the time to really understand what I wanted to do with my hair and they made it REAL. I walked away feeling like a superhero and just having had such a great time with them and getting a beautiful cut and color. We did a drastic change to my hair (exactly like I wanted) and Rei was super attentive, friendly, and fun. They're super knowledgeable and work MAGIC.

To start, everyone at Gem Salon was so friendly. It made my experience so much better to walk in and see friendly faces. On top of that, Amber was an amazing stylist. I hadn't had a haircut for a while and she instantly made me feel comfortable and knew exactly what I was looking for. She executed it beautifully and the compliments on my new hairdo haven't stopped. I cannot wait to visit Amber again!

Elizabeth is amazing! I’ll never go to another another stylist again. She took so much effort and care into making sure I loved my hair. She listened to all my concerns and made sure I was heard. She was so patient, didn’t rush, and gave me exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t recommend her more! First time a stylist has truly listened and given me what I asked for. I have been going to Naomi for all my hair needs for about 3 years now! From cut to color she never disappoints! Could not have been any more happy with the way my hair turned out this time! You will NEVER be disappointed with trusting Naomi with your hair! The salon was clean and very relaxing! Coming here for a haircut is like a spa day. Head massages, complimentary tea, no skimping on the products to make your hair feel (and look) great. I got the best long haircut I’ve ever had, and I know it’s down to the care, attention to detail, and understanding of different types of hair. I also find the prices to be fair. I do wish they had more subscription package options, though!

Jessica is such a good stylist and hairdresser! She checked in with me every step of the way from the shampoo all the way through the cut and styling as well. She cut my hair so well, and was so attentive to Molly’s direction and advice. Best haircut ever! It’s so different to what I normally get but felt so comfortable in that chair knowing I was in good hands. I’ll be back! :)

Today was my first visit to Gem but it definitely won’t be my last. Going to a new salon can be very intimidating but from the second I walked in I felt welcomed. The front desk (so sorry I didn’t get her name!) was so friendly and Alyssa was so nice and made me feel like I had been going there for years. My hair turned out fantastic and I’ll be recommending them to everyone! ☺️

Such a gorgeous, clean salon! The receptionist was very warm and welcoming. I see Tia for my hair. I’ve been seeing her for years and even followed her to Gem from her last salon. She is GREAT at what she does! She’s fun, professional, knowledgeable, and does exactly what I ask for while at the same time exceeding my expectations. If you need a new stylist, Tia is your girl!

I highly recommend Jamie!!! Jamie colored plus added highlights to my hair today and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the end result. She got rid of my brassy tones and made my hair shine shine shine. I love the fresh look. Her salon team assisted to help me get out on time and through this process she kept my hair goals in the conversation. Fantastic service and quality.

Molly did a great job transforming my "quarantine grow out" into something that feels like me! She listened to the bits and pieces I described and gave me a big change that I love. I forgot how good it feels to get my hair cut professionally. I will quit trying to do it on my own : ) I struggled with the cost when i made the appointment, but it was worth a big splurge!

Tried to color my hair @ home & it turned dark green! Went to Gem & they handle my crisis with their creative team. They worked together, Olivia, Vivian, Ciera, and then Jordan did the final multi tonal color: brown roots and striking blonde highlights to give dimension to my new shorter haircut. They truly rescued me from a hair coloring disaster.

Really enjoyed my first experience here for a haircut with Christopher! He was very knowledgeable in hair and it turned out great. He also made me a wonderful cup of coffee :) Loved the products they used as well. Bright space with big windows and lots of plants. Online booking was easy and there were plenty of appt times to choose from. I’ll be back!

Gem has a very chill vibe and is nicely spaced out. They only use top notch products and my hair always feels so good after I leave. Kelly is amazing, her talent is truly unmatched. She is so passionate and educated at her craft. She explains things to me and educates me in a way that makes me feel empowered. I can’t say enough good things about her.

Christopher did a fabulous job with my haircut and color consult! I moved to the area recently and was feeling nervous about finding a new stylist. Christopher translated the photo I showed him into a cut that looks great with my face shape and hair texture. I left the salon feeling much more confident and am excited to book my color with him.

Chris is so amazing!! Getting my hair washed is always my favorite part of getting my hair done, and Chris makes that part extra relaxing and spa-like. He always listens to what I want and cuts my hair perfectly to my preference :) I’m very picky about my bangs, so that’s a big win! I’m so glad I found such a fantastic stylist in the cities.

Natalie was a delight! It was my first visit to Gem and appointment with Natalie. Natalie talked to me about my hair, my current and previous styles and what I was looking for with a haircut. She explained what she was doing and gave great product recommendations for my curly hair. I love how my hair looks and feels. Thanks, Natalie!

Kat did such a great job with my hair! I came in and showed some inspiration pictures and she nailed it. She took a perfect amount of weight off my hair and did great layers and bangs to suit my natural hair. She even showed me how to style my natural hair at home so it didn’t look poofy and frizzy. I really loved my experience.

Rei is a color genius and can bring whatever edgy style I have in my head come to life. They always leave me looking fantastic and feeling fantastic. I adore them and look forward to next time. Also, I love the new space! I'm so glad y'all are in Northeast now! It's nice to finally have a stellar salon so close to home.

ciara SAVED my hair. i’ve never had someone understand curly hair as much as she does. i told her i wanted volume and shape. she did exactly that but even better. without showing her any photos!! i cannot recommended her enough. i now constantly get compliments on my hair and have the confidence to wear my hair down!

Kelly Rose was great with my heavy, long curly hair, and knew exactly how to cut off 3-4 inches without causing the dreaded "pyramid" shape. Super skilled, talented, and friendly! I live out of state but will definitely be back next time I'm in town. The salon's COVID safety protocols were very comforting as well!

Olivia is the biggest sweetheart! She listened to my concerns and offered a number of great options for me to consider. Ultimately, she encouraged me to rock my “new-to-me” natural color after cutting off the last of my chemically treated hair. I am so happy with how it turned out! Always a joy to add to my day!

I’ve been seeing Molly for a couple years and always loved my experience at Gem. Even during the pandemic, the salon felt warm and welcoming, and I felt they took great care in being safe and sanitary without making the experience feel sterile. It was great to be back and as always, I love how she cut my hair.

Molly is stuck with me for life, as there is no one else I trust to cut my curly hair. She has been my go-to hairdresser for for at least 15 years now, longer than I have been married! I appreciate that Molly can cut my curly hair both dry and wet, and that she is always continuing her own education as well.

I only have great things to say about Rei. I have been looking for someone who understands non-binary clients, and I FINALLY found someone. Rei is also fabulous at making my hair look good. Plus they are funny, kind, and thoughtful. I really have had a positive experience! I am very thankful for Gem & Rei.

Elizabeth’s color service exceeded my expectations! She did a super job choosing just the right product and applying it to cover grey roots and blend with faded brash highlights. I am so impressed with Elizabeth’s talent and my hair’s chocolate and subtle red tones. Really beautiful.. Thank you Elizabeth.

Love Gem! The entire staff is wonderful. Since Jo and Amber left, I recently switched over to Natalie for cut and color and couldn’t be more pleased! And treat points, legitimately awesome. So far I’ve got a free express facial, a deep conditioning treatment, and a skin care line trial kit for free!

Yesterday, I had my first visit back to Gem Salon since their re-opening from COVID restrictions. Natalie did an excellent job (per ususal), and the salon was clean and had solid C19 protocol in place. I look forward to my next appointment in 5 weeks. The salon was beautiful, aesthetic, and clean! All the stylists are passionate, knowledgeable, and patient. I highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be a returning customer! Jamie & Christopher were amazing and the other stylists were incredibly friendly and uplifting. 10/10 recommend!

Claire at Gem Salon has been my stylist for years. She is great with long hair and natural coloring. I love when my stylist really gets to know me . All I have to do is sit down in Claire's chair and she instantly has amazing ideas on how to improve my hair style or color. She is the best!

Ciara is the best! She always listens to what I want and offers helpful suggestions and tips for styling at home. She also checks in throughout my visits to see if I’m happy with her work, and adjusts accordingly if something is off. I always leave her chair feeling great!

I was so happy to get my hair cut and my gray roots colored. Molly is wonderful as always, so skillful and thorough. The salon staff is very welcoming and the salon is very very clean! They have done an excellent job at taking precautions as they welcome clients back.

Gem salon is by far one of the most comfortable salons I’ve been in. I have never left disappointed. My stylist Liz is incredible and always leaves me speechless. The new COVID19 policies also make me feel safe and valued as costumer. Great place, and great people.
