Pretty sure I was followed while I was shopping but the kicker is my my checkout experience. When I was at the self serve check out the older Arab lady literally moved so she could surveil me checking out. I then witnessed her greet each person as they were leaving the store except for when it came time for me to leave by which point the chubby white cashier came over from working the regular cash to also stare at me while I was leaving. I clearly held my receipt in my hand for fear they’d claim I didn’t pay or something. As a black woman shopping, I’m very aware of why this happened. I usually shop at Walmart but since this store is close to my house I went there in a hurry this morning. I will never shop here again and will make sure my family doesn’t either.

This location is great because it is easy to get to, and there is lots of parking. The staff are friendly, and very efficient considering the lines that they sometimes deal with. The displays are well organized, a;though sometimes you find the same items in several different areas. Be sure to look around the store in case there is a similar product in another aisle for a better price. Also, you have to check each time you visit because things get moved around routinely. The sales, including grocery items, are always pretty good. The fliers are located in the main entrance, but not really necessary because everything is clearly marked.

Giant Tiger prices are sometimes very good on their specials or end of line clearance items, but where the confusion comes in is why does this company continue to buy from China when it is Canadian owned, why do I have to support a communist country like China when I could be buying goods from other countries or your company could just get their products made in Canada and support local businesses and give our future generations work and more jobs for Canadians and keep the business in Canada instead of giving it China and making them rich. As a customer I don't mind paying more if it means we are going to keep the business in Canada.

I was there recently in July, and the item did not scan properly. I went with the staff person to do a price check and although the sale price was clearly taped to the item I chose, she ripped it off in front of me and said it was wrong. I suggested that they had to give me the price anyway, since the tag was on the items I chose. The staff person said "no, its the wrong price", period. I walked out of the store leaving all my items behind. The sale ticket was clearly on the item I chose, they should have given me at a minimum the sale price. In fact, because it scanned wrong I should have even fought to get it free.

Very large, clean and well organized store. Great deals to be found. First GT I have seen with fresh meat only section. Very respectfully in separating Kosher/Halal meats - even have frozen Halal/Kosher pizza!! Everything for the family and home. Service is friendly, though little bit slow at the cash! Would have like to have seen a couple more cashiers at checkout. There are staff throughout the store doing various tasks, so if you need help with something, it is not difficult at all to find someone. That is a huge plus. Excellent location, tons of parking. Wheelchair friendly, no stairs at all. #localguide

The Giant Tiger store located at 2480 Walkey road has undergone a major renovation by opening up another large modern shopping complex beside the older store. Giant Tiger is proud to be known as a low cost Canadian grocery/ clothes and household goods store. This makes it a great place to shop in direct competition with walmart. The new store's prices are great especially on featured sales and lots of people take advantage of this. Maybe you can save going there too because this Giant Tiger store is Grrrrrr eat! If you like my reviews, photos or videos give them a roaring thumbs up.

One of my favorite places to go! Always great prices and they always have items you can't find anywhere else. Store is well kept and employees are friendly :) I would totally pick shopping here over shopping at Walmart because at least they are a Canadian company, and at least you don't get the sensation you get with Walmart which is "too big to fail." Companies need to make their customers feel appreciated and boy do I ever when I come here. Thank you giant tiger corp and thank you to its staff for a pleasant experience each time, every time!

A hateful and racial store I have ever went too in Canada! Tuesday I was in store with my 9 years daughter buying her school snacks by mistake she scanned item twice and when aske an employee to help us and remove it, she told as you black people you are stealing when we asked what happen she told us we shut your month this isn't your country! when called manage by the name Chris conform the statement of his employee by doing nothing. according to them Gian tiger Walkley road Ottawa is white store the black people are not welcomed.

Giant tiger sucks so much. I hate going here every time I regret it. Terrible selection of random items I honestly can't even tell what this store is. It's not convenient and it's not a grocer. Terrible value and selection. Probably never went in and left satisfied . The management is terrible at my location. Everytime I go in there is a huge line and nobody on cash. What blows me away is everytime they call for carts when they should call for more cashiers , every time.

Generally this is a good store. Most things are good value and the staff are very pleasant. They have things in stock fairly reliable. One minor quibble is they wait too long before marking things down and the markdown section often has inedible garbage and other section have product that should be reduced and separated from the rest. This is minor though as the store is generally quite good. It is always clean and well organized.

Such a beautiful store to shop at everything is organized and the staff are nice good job guys I wish I could give you guys 1 millions stars but unfortunately I can only give 5 thank you so much for everything you guys are doing a great job keep it up with that good job and thank you for always helping people out whenever they need help I wish you guys the best have a wonderful rest of the year

I feel like this store use to be bigger. They (including all GT stores) need to work on their grocery department with bringing in more items and cheaper prices. It's hard to shop Canadian when everything cost more. A family of 7 needs a lot for less. Maybe a grocery discount. 5% off on the first $100 spent. 10% for $200 15% for $300 and so on. Figure something so the loyal Canadians stay Canadian and save.

The store is closing on March 6 and will re-open inside a brand new store attached to the main office building located right next to it. I wanted to go inside the old building before it closes officially. It will be a much needed change! The building locks really old. The remaining food and products were sparse but with excellents price cuts. The new Giant Tiger store will be a nice change.

Giant Tiger does not allow you to use their own gift cards to purchase product from their website, which I think is ridiculous. Most of the stuff in GT stores is already picked through and the stuff nobody wants is left. There is more option online and some people don’t use credit cards as payment or Visa Debit. Also, the product in store is often returns that other people have tried on.

this is by far the worst giant tiger ever. I spent $147 and cashier lady forget to give me all my bags when I went back later the day they said they can't find my bags even though I showed them the receipt and I asked them to check their surveillance cameras to see I was physically there. worst customer service ever, avoid at all cost. store manager name Donovan worst of all.

Located right next to GT head office, this is a brand-new flagship store and it shows! The store is smaller, but GT have made sure the selection is really good and the place is bright and clean. Both cashiers and self-checkout. Lots of groceries, including fresh fruit and veg, frozen and dry goods. Nice selection of clothing and household items. Just a pleasant place to shop.

Looks like the canada bread scheme is getting closer to your business. Maybe it's time to make some good will guesters and have your stores start donating to the Daily Bread Bank close to them instead of throwing away perfectly good food. So many have lost so much with bread pricing but seniors and low income suffer thed the most. Do the right thing

Huge fan of GT. Competitive pricing, friendly staff. It was a quick trip this time, but I was lucky enough to find everything I needed. *I have moved since writing this review and I have to admit, the staff at the Giant Tiger I shop at now has just as amazing staff. Thank you for helping and not looking down on someone with a disability.

A more spacious location with lots of parking. The grocery section is large but it's hard to find a significant price discount. I like how they carry Canadian brands and if you're a smoker they sell cigarettes. It would be nice for them to have better deals and better quality clothing. Any clothing I have purchased has developed holes.

This new location is much bigger. Neat and well designed. They have very sophisticated self check out machines better than Loblaws. It was nice and easy to use and most Importantly, I was very happy to use them because I didn't have to deal with those old grumpy cashiers with angry attitude which was a big problem in the past with GT.

Went to buy a sweater with clear signage of price. They argued the tag was different, so that's the price. Then they added since the sweater was a larger size it cost more. Price difference was $9. Kind of crazy in my opinion. After leaving frustrated I almost broke my ankle in one of the many pot holes in their parking lot.

On a Friday afternoon, the place got packed. The line up was crazy to pay for your stuff. The staff was very quick to add more cashiers to the front since only 1 cash was open at the time. The manager (I assume) was on the ball. The opened up 2 more cashiers and off the people went to pay for their stuff. Great thinking!

Proudly Canadian company that serve community for more than 50 years. This location is just located next to home office. Clean and organized store layout and i can guarantee you can find the best deals. They have better customer service than Walmart. They also have changing room that you could try on before you buy!

This store is always neat and tidy. Very good grocery selection and the savings you get compared to other stores is really great. Christmas shopping here is amazing the deals on clothes and housewares is unbeatable. Also, the store clerks are always really helpful and friendly. I am now a regular customer!

Like a cleaner, nicer version of Walmart. The staff at this location are always nice and helpful, and the store itself is really clean and tidy. Generally a nice place to get food and household items. Only downside is there isn't much in the way of public transport to get to this one.

Probably the best Giant Tiger in the city. Its spacious and has great selection, not only of clothing but also groceries. I'm not a big fan of the layout however, as theres a section that cuts the store in half and you have to go around to get to and from certain parts of the store.

Awesome place and awesome staff. It seems to me Giant tiger select their employees vs. Walmart staff. Even the Hull QC store got awesome kind people. Walkley Rd store got the most helpful, kind staff I ever met in a chain store ( except Romeo). I do my shopping there all the time.

It like a super special dollar store for things not a dollar. Very basic food, frozen entrees, fresh produce,men and women's clothing,toys,basic electronics etc. If you live in the area you really want to be there for the bargains at least once. A bit of fun to find good prices.

Nice big store selling a wide array of goods at a discounted rate such as toys, clothing for the family, households products, ...well as foods and this store has a large parking lot. Before you go you might want to check weekly flyers for sales, or the website for availability.

My favorite GT in Ottawa! Everything I want is always available, fully stocked, and fresh! If I could get all my groceries there it would be my main stop and shop place to go! The store is clean and organized,. I know where everything is and the staff are all outstanding!!!

I find Giant Tiger has really reinvented themselves in the last decade. The quality of the products has been improved while still keeping prices relatively low. The staff are helpful and most of the stores have been redesigned to be bright and spacious. Kudos to GT!

Good assortment of products to choose from and right off the bus line makes it easy to get to. My cashier had that look on her face like she wanted to be anywhere but there and was borderline rude. Still a nice place to shop a little cheaper if you live in the area.

I went to get a few thing. The store is in the process of moving so I had to take a look at the discounted items. Generally I would rather shop at G.T before going to a Walmart. Sales are good and their VIP program is very nice with options for the savvy customer..

The new store is alot better than the old store. You have an accessible washroom now but only problem is the bars at the front for a bigger mobility device can't get through must go to the end of the sidewalk. Would love to see an electric mobility cart

Usually some really great finds on a budget, quite often get new stock and is fairly clean. Upkeep on change rooms could be a little better and I find some staff should be careful with their conversation around clients. Wheelchair access and parking.

Was one of the best being its main store attached to their distro but they've slowed down on teaching their new employees proper customer service. I removed a star. I hope can change it back to a 4 again or a 5 provided I recognize improvement.

They have sales and plenty of parking. Sometimes it's hard to find a sales person available to help but when you do they are pleasant. Their clothing and fresh and frozen items can be costly. Good selection of clothing and grocery

Nice store, usual GT products. Often do not have the advertised sale items. If I want to be sure to get the sale item I tend to go that little bit further to the store st St Laurent & Walkley which is a fantastic store.

Sale items didn't come up at the sale price when scanned. Cashier was rude! Forgot my reusable bags, the ones you purchase break almost immediately. On a positive note, the store was clean and fully stocked.

This has always been my favorite GT to shop at. The store is well stoked, and clean also easy to move around in. You can't beat the prices either. I enjoy the GT vip membership now to, it's a great idea !!

Everything here is slow. Plus no can drinks or bottled drinks close to the cash like in other Giant tiger locations. There seems to be a lack of speed at the cash and no motivation atmosphere!

They have a great selection prices are reasonable and they have a large supply of products. The only problem that I seen was that the Walkley store , because it's a warehouse is very busy.

To be honest I drove all the way from Carling to Walkley thought this place would be nicer and bigger compared to the size you at out from outside lol the staff were friendly.

Went there looking for curtains and didn't find the size I was looking for. There was a bigger selection than the other location though. Staff were also more helpful.
