You can’t really go there with small kids. It’s got decent playground equipment but it has been taken over by a homeless camp and there’s a lot of strange stuff going on around that park. There were a lot of big dogs running around off leash.
Was born and raised in the78704area.Remember as a kid me and my bro going trick n treating over at Charles Whitman's house.Won the Pepsi hotshot contest at Gillis.Hit my first home run over the center lights there too.Gillis park used to be
Here in Austin downtown we have Lake lady Bird there is a hiking trail as well as a boardwalk for miles . So myself and Fancy my puppy walked from S First st.yo Zilker park at Barton Springs. Im my pics you will see people dressed in shark
This is a lovely experience in the beauty of childhood expression. This park offers all children and families of all sorts a serene and brightening opportunity to reflect and relax among the evolution in our ever growing society. Plenty of
I feel like I can’t really rate a park LOW. Parks are nice. This would probably be the lowest rating I give a park. The park itself is OK. Has a little area for baseball. It’s not very big or exciting, that’s okay. Main reason I rated it a
Not family friendly. Lots of junkies hanging out by the restrooms engaging in various forms of anti social behavior. The playground equipment is nice and new but it made me uncomfortable to see crackheads vomiting, crapping, smoking crack
I love this park. I have been taking my children their, since my eldest now 4 learned how to walk. The only downsides is it has a heavy homeless population, which can sometimes mean items you do not want your children touching get left on
Not exactly family-friendly. Adults were congregating around the restroom / shelter area and using inappropriate language and being aggressive with each other. I understand why the adults were hanging out there. However, leaving a comment
My 2 year old had fun on the playground set here. Was nice and looked new. The one drawback were the homeless people hanging out close by. They were respectful, and I didn't realize they were homeless until the city workers left and a few
Need to get your kiddo off the local media and tv? Bring em to the park, here the tree canopy is vast, located near big Stacy public pool, an inventive parent can turn the combination of park and pool into a relatively inexpensive day of
Homeless are in parks 10 ft from children , please call 311 they come to offer them shelter (camping is not allowed in parks, current ordinance). On a friday around lunch time 5 cars prk near playground to do drug deals, pls call 911 to
Nobody would bother to review this park, but it seems important to say a couple of things. The playground is brand new and of this writing, and has a couple of nice features like a rope wall. There is a small homeless population that
We're sensitive to the homeless problem, but there has to be a better solution than using the neighborhood parks as encampments. The last time we brought our two year old here there was a stray pitbull wandering (seemed nice), people
All I can say is it it's a great Park I lived in it for two to three years homeless but I take my grandkids there and they love it they love the playground and they like to walk around take your family there try it out you'll love it
Homeless camps, trash, and junk every where! Bathrooms out of order and locked up. Can't use tables because people are living on them and under them. Obviously mentally ill persons sitting on park bench right next to playground.
I was born n raised in this neighborhood.Ive seen it change both good and bad.But Gillis is a mainstay to the neighborhood.I hope n pray that there never comes the day where they decide to build condos and do away with the park
This playground is great. Love all the sports spaces as well. There is a small homeless community here but they've always been respectful and keep to themselves. I wouldn't let this be a deterrent to enjoy such a fun park.
Perfect place for the hoopers. There is some concerns with one side because the tree has some over hang but it doesn’t matter if your winning. There’s even a light for night ball. I wish more people knew about this place.
Quite small for disc golf but 9 holes nonetheless. Flat, simple, no real variation among holes, greens are sometimes indistinct, but the park is quiet, well maintained, and easy to use. Good for practice and beginners.
Great new spot...parking is rough! I suggest a ride share to get here, but once you're in the place was very fun, pickle ball courts are a cool idea...taco truck was decent...had pastor and lamb barabacoa both tasty.
No children present only very sketchy adults blocking the restrooms. Not to mention, one male adult would not break eye contact with my two year little girl. Very uncomfortable. Didn't stay for more than 5 minutes.
This rating is no stars, however will not post wi/o this min star. Could be a nice park for kids, but has become a Homeless center. Saw a white SUV stop come in to a tent to do business and left the tent City.
The field is a great location, however I feel as if the field needs more attention. The parks field is bumpy and has areas unfit for play due to uneven surfaces. Also the bathrooms are pretty gross.
Nice semi-shaded park, perfect for 3-10 yr olds. Decent sized parking lot and full baseball diamond. Pool wasn't open on Sunday, but looks to be just a little smaller than Garrison Park Pool.
Alas Gillis Park has, like many parks here become unsafe. This is currently a NO GO ZONE for families. It’s worth the drive to Zilker as long as it remains safe in open areas. Parents beware!
Best for large groups Massive car park, park setup for baseball, volleyball, basketball and has a children's play park. There is a water fountain and bbq pit, there are toilets but
I LOVE this park. The set up is great however I only give it three stars because the homeless population that lives here constantly harass me and I don't feel safe coming at night
Super chill lady back. Perfect for a first date or a cheering up a bestie Old arcades, pool, foos. Drink are cheap and there’s a huge selection of beers etc. bathrooms r a trip.
I get that Austin is supportive of the plight of the homeless, but I don't get having nice kids playground equipment and homeless camps in the same corner of the same park.
The playscapes here are awesome! Nice trail and space for kids to run around. Bathrooms had a lot of people camped out there when we visited, but all seemed friendly.
There are homeless camps nearby. You would have to be careful when walking around as there were reports of hypodermic needles being used by drug addicts.
Always been a nice park but when we find a needle, couple of knives, broken glass and lots of trash it doesn't make for such great memories …
Beautiful park now that redone. BUT why are bathrooms locked at 10 am? Happened twice in last week. And you wonder why people pee in the bushes!
Love to go but the homeless camping is not comfortable and a bit scary the trees along the sidewalk on south first needs tending and rea More
Nice little park. They have a softball field and a basketball court. They have a gravel track. There are picnic tables.
This used to be the old park that we would play at, and swim when I was younger. I think I enjoyed my back in the days.
Peaceful place to play and participate in group activities. Adult friendly playground and volley ball nets.
The worst park ever found needles at sand box alot of homeless people and drugs not a place for kids
Cool and modern obstacle but very sketchy. Lots of homeless hanging around near the restroom area.
Gillus park is the hood park.old school..its one the best park in the city .it has lots of history
Great playground facilities, though maintenance is a bit lacking in other areas.
☑ Basketball Cout ☑ baseball/softball/kickball field (x2) ☑ Volleyball court
Love being in nature with my children.we are all adventurous..
It's a good park to take the kids out and your little miss.
I'm working out here to hopefully set a World Record …
Nice park with quite neighborhood. Good for kids as well.
It's a cool park, but there's a lot of homeless people.
