My name is Karen, and using my husband’s google account, it gives me great pleasure to write this review for the Glasnevin Family Practice (GFP). I have been attending the GFP for over 30 years, commencing with its’ innovative founder as my GP and soon after, moving to the exceptional Dr M.C Burke, from whom I have received my main medical care for many years. I have also received excellent consultations with the other GPs in the practice, who ensured I was accommodated on the same day, or the next day, if my own GP was unavailable. I have additionally had the pleasure of becoming familiar with & getting to know the various reception/secretarial staff, and the Nurses who have always presented as highly professional, competent, helpful and very personable. So, I feel compelled to, and more than qualified and honoured to write this review, and to also extend a sincere & grateful thankyou to the Glasnevin Family Practice team for keeping me well, and dare I say it, alive! Over the many years attending the GFP, I have gladly put my trust in the many impressive services of the practice. It has never lost its’ superb standard of patient care and person-centred healthcare provision, along with its’ solid team ethos. Even when I was kindly informed that the GFP was going into partnership with ‘Centric Health’, the transition seemed seamless with the checks & updates of my personal details and information. The Glasnevin Family Practice always demonstrated great accessibility & commitment to providing assistance in any way possible. With each communication, whether it was with the reception/secretarial staff or one of the nurses, no detail was too small to provide help and direction on. Attending the GFP throughout my life, I also have nothing but high praise for the General Practitioners and the excellent medical care they have provided to me. They have helped me with everything from simple ailments, to preventative healthcare, to some difficult diagnoses, to referrals to specialists, to an emergency calling of an ambulance, to providing letters for various personal reasons and issues. Any difficult diagnosis was delivered with sensitivity and reassurance, along with plenty of support and practical information & guidance. I will always be grateful for the prompt response of one of the GPs who called an ambulance within minutes of my consultation, which led to an emergency life-saving operation. Medical dramas aside, as one to always have 100 questions & a stickler for detail, I have never felt rushed during my consultation appointments. I also wish to acknowledge all the tremendous hard work, diligence, compassion & dedication shown at the Glasnevin Family Practice during the Covid pandemic. During this difficult and very busy time, the GFP really stepped up to provide exemplary and safe healthcare. From the friendly welcoming greeting on entering the building, to the short wait in the waiting room, to seeing your expert Nurse or General Practitioner, to the warm & discreet interactions with the reception/secretarial staff, the GFP provides an empathetic, positive, caring & professional experience, with outstanding work practices, medical excellence and quality patient healthcare. I would like to extend an enormous thank you to the great GFP team!
I've been a patient for years, as have my children. Dr Thecla Finnan was an absolutely wonderful person, who truly supported and cared for her patients. Since her untimely passing the practice has gone seriously downhill, to the point that I am in the process of changing to a new practice. I've been told even this will take 4-6 weeks due to a backlog. I'm not surprised people are changing surgeries. Appointments run up to an hour late, there is absolutely no continuity of care and the chance of seeing the doctor you are registered with is essentially nil. You have to take whoever you can get and may never see them again as the staff seem to change incredibly frequently. Blood results can only be obtained during a tiny window of time on specific days of the week. The fees are also significantly higher than other local surgeries. In addition, the building is not remotely accessible for those with limited mobility -there are steps and stairs to all but 1 of the offices.
Place is absolutely gone to hell after been taking over from another company in august. Firstly I wasn’t even told this doctors name who was examining me that’s how unprofessional she was. Just been to an appointment and my doctor didn’t know how to write a prescription she had to call other doctors in to help. She never told me what was actually wrong with me I had to ask her twice because she ignored me the first time. She then proceeded to tell me the only hickeys pharmacy was in Phibsborough there is no other ones, have you ever heard the likes of it. Eventually she found the chemist I wanted but couldn’t print out the documents for me. She told me she sent them down tk reception but no such thing as I then had to wait for her to be finished with her next patient because she done my prescription wrong and I had to wait for her to do it again.
I would have liked to say something about the doctors, but my daughter didn't get the chance to see one. She came for a consultation because of her ear pain and sickness, maybe a flu or so. But the receptionist denied to help her. Instead she was told to go to an a and e hospital ... My daughter (from Germany) is on a 6 week internship for her vocational training in Dublin and felt lost when the service gave her such an advice. Nothing you wish for your child when she's in a foreign country. So maybe the doctors are excellent, but when you can't get to one, the practice doesn't earn any star's. Supplement: My daughter has found another practice in Drumcondra, friendly receptionist and excellent doctor!
Excellent doctors, have never had an issue once you actually get seen by a doctor. They have always been excellent. The reception/ management and how the practice is run is unbelievably bad. I get frustrated every time I need to make an appointment. The systems and rules in place done serve the patients. You have to jump through the most ridiculous hoops to even manage to get an appointment. One of the worst customer services I have ever experienced. This has been an issue for years. I have spoken to some lovely staff but for the most part it’s a rude interaction and very poor customer service. Run very poorly!
I can highly recommend this GP practice to anybody. From the extremely busy receptionists, nurses and doctors. They are all very understanding and will get to the bottom of your query without hesitation. The doctors are superb and leave no stone unturned in getting to the bottom of your illness. They know exactly how best to get you into the system and their follow up is superb. The nursing team even ring you to remind you of your annual flu vaccine.
I have to give a 5 star review for today's experience with the Glasnevin Family Practice. I was lucky to get assigned to GP, She takes time listening to what patients have to say, and doing full examination patiently, She is very professional and mostly importantly she makes the patients feel they are being taken care of, she is one of the nicest doctors I have come across.
Like say big massive thanks to team doctors nurses who came me on Dublin bus yesterday afternoon came my assistant help me look after me made me feel safe until ambulance arrived which was late. But they did amazing work . Look after me I won't forget you guys. Thank you so much . …
I have always been happy with the doctors but please tell your receptionist that “What’s the matter?” is an extremely unprofessional way to speak to a person booking an appointment. I felt like I was inconveniencing her. People should feel comfortable calling the doctors office. This is basic
Long time patient here. Recently had a spate of bad health and the admin team bend over backwards to get you seen to, all the doctors treat you professionally as a patient but they seem genuinely interested in your well-being. Can't be recommended enough!
I’ve been a patient of Glasnevin Family Practice since 1995. I have always received excellent and thorough care under the compassionate leadership of Dr. Mary-Carmel Burke. It’s an ongoing experience for which I am constantly grateful. Robert Whiteside.
Doctors are OK in here. But reception staff definitely need some soft skill training. They will bearly let you speak. Aparently they are busy.. well if I waited 20 mins to speak to you then you shall speak with me. Terrible service...
Reception staff are terrible, they don't even listen to the slightest request, they think THERE the doctors wanting to know all your business Dr burke needs to get new Reception staff that are more polite
Charged me €65 for a phone call consultations and then spent 5 min arguing she doesn’t have time to email me the invoice but I need to go there to pick it up in person (during level 5 lockdown) !
Very thorough & friendly. Dropped in for an Annual Check up with Dr Niall O Connor. Great service, given plenty of time and very thorough. Highly recommended.
Surprised the staff here get such high reviews. The Doctors are great, the reception staff when I attended here were awful.
Excellent surgery. Very friendly and accommodating staff and doctor's. Been a patient over 7 years, highly recommend.
If you are a medical card holder here, you will be treated with distain by all of the staff. You have been warned.
Brilliant helpful staff from reception to Doctors.
Doctors are superb, really quick and efficient.
