Boys' high school
"I am absolutely stunned by the fact that the staff in this school can’t grasp the simple fact that they are not our guardians and it’s illegal to hold their students against their will and the will of the parents or guardians"
"I am a learner at Glenwood highschool & I personally believe that it is a good school, but truly speaking, the school seems amazing until you're in it"
"Today, June 8th, 2021, at around 6:20am, one of the students at the rear left side of your school bus threw eggshells into my vehicle, on St John's Avenue, these eggshells still had some fluid on them, they were thrown on my face as i was taking of from the traffic lights, it's hard to believe, in the midst of a Pandemic, your student's would do such a thing, Ofcourse i could have stopped the vehicle and address the matter but nowadays, everyone has a smartphone to record everything and i would have been portrayed as a crazy person"
"Wonderfull memories (1953 - 56) - Senior Student Officer cadets 1956, 1st 15 rugby, Natal blazer athletics, Capt"
"On Thursday 12th May 2016 I was on an early morning run with my young daughter (about 5:20am) when we ran past a bunch of young Glenwood boys sitting outside the school gate waiting for transport"
I am absolutely stunned by the fact that the staff in this school can’t grasp the simple fact that they are not our guardians and it’s illegal to hold their students against their will and the will of the parents or guardians. One staff member I really have a problem with is one Mr Scott. He refused to hand my son over to me when I came in to collect him. I just want to add that what he did is completely against the law and even the ethos of the school. I just want to add that my son is eighteen in matric and he is no longer required by law to attend school. To Mrs Barnes (The headmistress) you should really consider restocking on your staff because I have first hand experience with your staff and I can honestly say I have never come across someone as ignorant and small minded as Mr Scott. Consider sending your sons to Westville Boys Highschool.
I am a learner at Glenwood highschool & I personally believe that it is a good school, but truly speaking, the school seems amazing until you're in it. It's just like any other highschool, just with overated tuck-shop prices & slightly better teachers. Although there are a few teachers who just give us a ton of work & punishment to keep us busy for the whole year instead of actually teaching us & marking our work, example - "Mr. Vermuelen" he's my Afrikaans teacher. So yeah, for me school is just draining & really messes me up mentally & emotionally, but I guess I just have to push through because there isn't really anyone to get through this with but with my friends. Glenwood can help in most ways but sometimes, it's just really draining & over the top. I'm most probably gonna get expelled for this but who cares, right? ...

Edit: Matter has been resolved, thank you to the school for addressing the matter.
Wonderfull memories (1953 - 56) - Senior Student Officer cadets 1956, 1st 15 rugby, Natal blazer athletics, Capt. Natal Jnr. athletic team Bloemfontein 1957, Honours blazer for athletics, cadets, prefect. In times of J.B. Colam (Head), Frank Dixon, George Stobie, Hermie Kriel, Koos Basson. As a Glenwood High School Old Boy living 34 years in Ecuador, Sth. America, wish to renew ties with Glenwood.
On Thursday 12th May 2016 I was on an early morning run with my young daughter (about 5:20am) when we ran past a bunch of young Glenwood boys sitting outside the school gate waiting for transport. Each and every boy rose to his feet and greeted us with " Good Morning Sir , Good Morning Ma'm". This really lifted our day. It raises my spirit for the future and is a shining light for your school.
My colleague visited the school to discuss the Maths100 Foundation with the Head of Mathematics. She described the courtesy of the pupils as exceptional. In particular, when she dropped a file and 5 lads rushed to help. She visits many schools and finds courteous students, but Glenwood stood out for her and continues to do so.
Glenwood high School. The best public high School in Durban. The principal Dr Barnes is truly a mother and a leader who has a very strong understanding of leadership. Great school for ever and am glad my son has become a member of this great school. The home of the Green Machine.
I'm very disappointed with the school, after the soccer games they chased us out of the school with a literal leaf blower. Even after a bring & braai was advertised. The Clive Barker ceremony didn't even take place & all of our wors went bad‼️
The greatest High School in SA and I am proud to be a part of The Green Army. This school has incredible value systems and teaches boys to be proper young men by the principle of discipline and respect.
This is a school of excellence. If you want your boy to be guided into a gentleman, send him to this school. He will excel in sports, academics and cultural activities!
It's actually a great high school thw education and sports is quite astonishing. It's a great experience and a good institution you wouldn't regret trust me
Glenwood is a well rounded school with diverse races ,cultures and activities. The opportunities the boys have are immense, both sporting and academic.
School grounds are well maintained. I font know anyone who has kids in the school so I can't comment on any if their academic or sports programs
THE GREATEST ALL BOYS HIGH SCHOOL IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE!!! STAND BACK FOR NONE!!! A WORLD CLASS INSTITUTION!!!
The best school ever made , the sportsmanship is from the greatest and there are so many sports to choose from
We were there to watch rugby. They were playing against Westville. What a great performance from both teams.
The brother hood is real...I should I know I'm a student....I would advise sending your boys to this school
