The lift was broken, TVs went offline, Rand water shutdown the water, spotty WiFi, loadshedding.... The poor staff must have been overrun with complaints the weekend, but they dealt with each "disaster" really well , with a smile on, and had backups for most of the essentials. Despite having no TV for 1 day, hardly any water for 2, and no lift for 1 day, we still REALLY enjoyed our stay. Thankfully I had packed stuff for the kids to do and it ended up being a really fun, bonding experience. Kudos to the cleaning and reception staff who had to deal with presumably MANY grumpy visitors I loved the old timey photos in the stunning wallpaper. It gave off a lovely old-world feel. The rest of the hotel is what can you expect from the Sun Brand - clean and first class.

Rides were fun as always. However, as we all know , the queues are an issue. Whilst standing in the 1st queue for the day, I've checked that in every queue, there is enough space for a continuous bench up to the starting point. And on most rides, the space is enough for 2 x bench rows. They force you to wait in the sun. They put up signs, do not sit against,lean,climb, or sit on the fence. But what can one do when waiting times are 1+ hours ? Already, by improving this, I believe guests will have a much better experience

Overall impressive as is expected from a business making so much money. The majority of staff are friendly and helpful. However, I was admittedley surpised and very dissappointed to see so many small children left alone in the food court while their parents were gambling. This was even happening late in the evening. I do not think that children should be allowed in a gambling environment. It is not healthy and should not be normalised. Tsogo Sun needs to take responsibilty and talk to those parents. Surely the well-being of the children far outweighs the money made off the irresponsible parents.

What a perfect place to be, where you enjoy you time with friends and family. Casino games, entertainment, restaurants and their accommodation, activities and attractions are so much interesting. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and will revisit again with my family.

I have a lot of things to say about this place because I absolutely had a wonderful experience on my visit today. The casino is grand with amazing architecture, there’s employees everywhere from entrance and throughout the building to assist people. There is a lot of slot and gaming machine, kids play area, family bowling , and couple’s movies in the theater . There’s a lot of restaurants with diverse selections of food. The bathroom was spotless clean, equipped with toilet paper, and a janitor was there to maintain this perfect condition and great smell.

Although I didn't spend much time here, but I fell in love with it. The front desk was so efficient but I was disappointed that I had to create another rewards card although I had the one from Monte casino, worse of all we had to fill the application form manually in that dark area. Tsogo Sun needs to invent an electronic method of applying for the Rewards card. Besides that, all is well.

I've had so much fun at Gold Reef City, we started at the theme park with the kids, afterwards went into the Casino side where we enjoyed a meal in one of their restaurant and eventually went into the gambling floor where we made money, all the money that was spend on the day, made it back plus profit. The experience was marvelous, I would advise anyone who hasn't been there to visit the Gold Reef City theme park and Casino

This is a great place for a family get-away. There is entertainment for adults and kids. No dull moment. Service is excellent from the highly trained staff, always friendly and helpful. Food is out of this world. I will definitely go there again

Went to watch the Rugby world cup final but saw a movie first, we could play the slots have late supper and go bowling without missing out on the Cup final,, our visit was most fulfilling we could do so many things in one night plus the crowd was super awesome. Stay was okay. Terrible wait time in the que to set up a card and bad service. I'm on crutches with a broken ankle and no one would assist me to the disabled bathrooms. The security saying the other bathrooms are full allowing any and everyone to go Striaght to the disabled bathrooms. Really poor service.

There is not much of a selection of restaurants. The gambling facilities are okay. Staff are friendly. The casino restaurant serves a really nice burger. Service has dropped. The arcade at the casino is very small, has some fun games but not the greatest. There is also bowling which was okay, but there was a weird smell. The cinema is quite nice, comfortable and big. The biggest problem is that the whole place feels like it's been neglected, there are many improvements that could be made for such an attraction.

I was angry and upset as the security hoards at the entrance had stopped me from entering. They have rules which the guards aren't aware off. I find it strange an organization such as GOLD REEF CITY will have security guards who do not know the rules of the casino but yet a put at the entrance of the casino. Casino should look into this.

This casino had an event. My friends handbag got stolen, some items where stolen out of my bag, all around "garra" place. I wanted to get food but steers couldn't help anyone who didn't have cash. Kfc didn't even assist me..

You guys have the most stupid rule regarding food on the casino floor. How is it if you go to one of the restaurants to eat and have takeaways/leftovers, you can't take it onto the casino floor? What do you expect us to do? Throw our food away? Rather than not have restaurants and only have a casino. So pathetic!!!!

I did not use the rooms but for my general experience, terrible. Visited after the Apartheid Museum and was refused entrance, as I am a man with a day back pack. Inside looks drab so would be wise to avoid if on the tourist experience.

This is a place that you have to visit... The theme park is awsome but the highlight for me was the mine tour... Going 75mtrs into the gold mine with a guide explaining the history and how everything worked... Just too good

Cool place. Smoking area shouldn't be separated because it's a useless effort since the doors separating the non smoking and smoking ALWAYS open. All the toxic air can be inhaled from the non smoking casino floor. Not pleasant. Monte Casino shud give tips...

Looks nice and is clean but the main bar in the middle is kind closed down. We just stopped in for a quick bite a drink and a bathroom break. I’m not into casinos at all and all the restaurants inside had low google ratings so it didn’t fit the bill.

Spur was a nice place to dine at . Hlalo gave the best service at the movies when buying the popcorn combos. Thank you Hlalo for your great service

They don't have enough R10 tables you could ait 2 to 3 hours for a color ! If you are looking at R25 minimum then you will have the best experience. none the less the place is fun and if luck is on your side you will have the best time here

Very nice place. All the staff was very friendly. Even when someone put money in the machine without having the card that you get at reception, the problem was sorted out almost immediately. Will definitely go back again.

Always awesome and well maintained facility which is clean and safe. Please check the meter taxis in the front row of the parking. They are out of order and park their vehicles in a manner that blocks traffic.

Bigger casino with even fewer restaurants. It was too full and all restaurants had queues outside with people waiting to be seated. I had to leave as I couldn't wait,but will definitely give if another try.

I particularly liked the Lyric Theater. It's very nice. However the casinos foyer was full of people who were just sitting around. It would be nice if could have a designated place for that.

It's OK but it's vary upseting reason on Google showing terms park is close on public holiday on 1 of May but when we get they it was open then they say only allow to book on line

Poor drainage in the open air parking lot. No prep regarding loadshedding, needs to learn to match the other "city's " of the chain I.e Monti casinos, Emerald City.

I go here monthly as I do work for one of the restaurants, I just go to collect paperwork but was told today I must pay R20 just to go in and out .... WOW!!!!!

A lovely place to be.Exellent restaurant with play area (Panarottis) for kids. For birthdays, my grand child didn't want to leave. The safest place to be.

The entertainment centre only opens at 14h00 Minday to Thursdays, which was a bit disappointing. There is nothing for children to do prior to 14h00.

Very busy and noisy, but lovely outing for the family with restaurants and entertainment areas as well a crèche for the little ones for the gamblers
