"A hidden, peaceful gem in Golden Hill and quite possibly one of my favorite parks in San Diego! First off, the view of the downtown city skyline through the trees and flowers is breathtaking! The entire park is well kept and clean"
"Neat little section inside of Balboa park that gets overlooked by tourists because it's more of a residential area"
"Man, I've been coming here for close to 20 years, both before and after I lived down the street (now my law office is down the street)"
"This park is great for many reasons"
"Way too many dogs (there's a dog park down the road!!), the owners never pick up after them & let them off leash even though there are big signs saying "on leash only"! Good views for sunset but it gets a little sketchy at sunset as the homeless people move in"
A hidden, peaceful gem in Golden Hill and quite possibly one of my favorite parks in San Diego! First off, the view of the downtown city skyline through the trees and flowers is breathtaking! The entire park is well kept and clean. The road surrounding the park is a circular paved path approximately a mile long that is perfect for getting your steps in or taking a quick jog. There are many strategically situated picnic tables and benches for you to enjoy the lovely views! There is ample green grass and lush palm trees if you want to throw a blanket down and get your feet in the grass or hang a hammock and power lounge in shaded bliss. The park squirrels usually put on quite an acrobatic display which is sure to add to your enjoyment! Community events happen regularly here and it is a wonderful place for sports or special gatherings. I come here almost every day and am so grateful this beautiful zen green space exists
Neat little section inside of Balboa park that gets overlooked by tourists because it's more of a residential area. I would have never known this section had a name or even existed if it weren't for the neighbors inviting me to spend the Fourth of July with them. Fireworks from this park is okay. Not the greatest but awesome if you want to get away from the large crowds (Also, don't be the butthole who parks in the park during the fourth. It's low visibility with a ton of people around). You can see fireworks coming from the bay but other parts are blocked off from the trees.
Man, I've been coming here for close to 20 years, both before and after I lived down the street (now my law office is down the street). This is a great little park with a paved ring running around it that is close to being a mile around, great for running laps or for just walking a loop. The interior is nice grass with and usually a breeze. Planes do fly directly overhead, so keep that in mind. They typically close off the road loop at night.
This park is great for many reasons. I go running there a few times a week and it's great when it is shut down to cars in the morning. My kids love to play in the giant fig trees or just run through park kicking around a soccer ball or trying to fly a kite. Best of all I love the views that you have of downtown. My problem with the park is that many people choose to drive to quickly. I hope that the city puts something in place to stop this.
Way too many dogs (there's a dog park down the road!!), the owners never pick up after them & let them off leash even though there are big signs saying "on leash only"! Good views for sunset but it gets a little sketchy at sunset as the homeless people move in. Police sometimes there but they could do with moving on the drunks who are frequently seen passed out on the grass. People also drive too fast around the loop road.
Super chill park with not a whole lot going on. People parking and enjoying some SD shade. Great for bird watching (just encountered a red tail hawk about 8 ft away land on a low branch. Beautiful). Great for watching planes on final approach to SDIA (listen to the tower on Scanner Radio Pro and follow flights on FlightAware). A fair number of grassy areas and picnic tables for use. Park closes 6pm-sunrise.
This is a really nice place and this is the first time that I came here. The huge trees are absolutely magnificent and it's very peaceful. Every so often a large plane flies over above. We were only here a short while so I didn't get to walk the whole area but I think I got some pretty good pictures of some nice areas that aren't seen when just driving around on the road.
Nice public park to enjoy a weekend. Large enough to have a party, and it is clean.
Playground
Large enough to have fun
Restrooms
Restrooms are available, but they aren't clean.
Dog-friendliness
Dogs are always, but it also create the problem of finding dogs' feces in the ground.
Picnic area
Nice area but there is not tables
Grass area is well kept of fair amount of homeless people, GOD BLESS THEIR WONDERFUL, UNFORTUNATE SOULS... ambulance their on-call all the time but very little parking park closes promptly at 6:00 right across the street from the Balboa golf course and another small Park with sports area both parks and bathrooms aren't that great as far as cleanliness
I’ve been here for numerous events. It’s close to my house and no matter how many people show up to the events it never feels small and there is a always enough room. They also have enough porta potties and never a long line. I usually don’t like going to festivals but the ones hosted here I definitely don’t mind.
Great community park with lots of trees and grass. The ugly is all the bums and the filth they leave everywhere. I have seen bums walking around in thei r underwear, pooping in a napkin while walking, peeing in public, gang grafiti and dog and human feesies everywhere under the treas and in hill areas.
I walk here whenever I need to take in some nature and just chill. Huge trees are unique and interesting plus offer big canopies of shade. Walking and runners enjoy this area as do people parking in the many spots around. Can also watch planes, see the city or look back onto the golf course from here.
Beautiful restful park right smack dab in the middle of North Park suburbia. Children playing, people walking and laughing, areas for all sorts of sports, lovers and runners and picnickers. A plane flies over now and then, but one would have to be curmudgeon to complain about this beautiful park.
This hidden gem.has amazing views of the city skyline and wonderful ocean breezes. You can see the Coronado bridge and walk through huge magnolias and rare specimen palms as you hang out on a blanket or throwing a frisbee. Did I mention the annual Taco festival... yeah it's the goods
I've been coming here since the early 80's and I must say that the Park has seen better days. It must be getting close to needing a make over soon I hope. Nonetheless it is a good place to kill time and get a good small view of downtown along with the old and new Navy hospital.
Fantastic views of downtown. Huge ancient coral trees. Can't play on the roots though, they've fenced them off. Decent open space for an urban park. You can also watch the golfers at the Balboa course. Directly in the Lindbergh flight path. Pretty cool if you like planes.
Wonderful. Beautiful homes. Area known as 'South Park'. "Where's Kenny" lol He must've gone on a walk about❗
Playground
Beautiful grounds.
Restrooms
Basic. Serviced daily.
Dog-friendliness
Let them be.
Picnic area
Keep them clean.
The drought has not been good to this park. Grass is suffering. If you like plane spotting enjoy the parade of flights overhead. Seems the park is right under a landing pattern for the airport. Little park makes for a good beer garden when Tour de Fat came here.
It’s a small park with nice views. I appreciate the simplicity. Great place to take a quick green break if you are in the neighborhood. I wouldn’t say it’s a destination park, but it has an epic large tree in the center with nice view from top of the hill.
VIBES!!! You get an amazing city view. If you ever wanted to take a picture with an airplane flying above your head. This is the park to do it in. There is an airplane landing in the nearby airport ever 3 minutes or so and they fly right above this park.
The perfect place for a picnic or enjoying nature while still being walking distance from a shop for snacks. There always seems to be more than enough spaces to lay down and it never gets obscenely loud. It's one of those perfect places in San Diego.
It is a beautiful and simple park, with many lovely views of canyons and the city. Easy 1/2 mile running and walking track. Drivers that go through the Park road should drive 15mph like the sign suggests, but some people drive to fast through it.
Great Park, it's never too crowded and has great vistas. It has a small parking lot, a public bathroom and a hot coal disposal can. The only downside is that it's in the park for airplanes. So you have to pause conversations every 10 mins or so.
This is my favorite park in San Diego! It has a beautiful view of Downtown as well, of course the problem with it is that it gets opened so late. It use to open really early in the morning but the guy who opened the park no longer works there D:
One of my favorite spots in Balboa Park. It's nestled in between a nice view of Balboa and a really great family neighborhood with lots of restaurants & local corner stores. I've never had a bad experience while visiting this part of the park.
We love to come here for walks with our dog. It's a nice park. Always has a nice breeze and never really crowded. I think a lot of folks dont really know about it. Nice spot to hang out with a picnic blanket and enjoy some food with view.
Great hidden spot to hang out, take pictures with Downtown Dan Diego as a backdrop. Can sometimes be occupied by varying numbers of transients and/or people smoking weed at the tables. Still a nice, pleasant, well maintained little park.
I hate to say it but this otherwise very pleasant park on a hill is mired by low flying commercial airlines on their way to landing at San Diego International Airport. This park (at least while I was there) was in the direct flight path
It is a nice park. But I went there for Tacotopia last week. A total disaster. Bought VIP tickets. Stood in line 35 minutes to get in. Only 7 vendors. Spend an hour in long lines for 2 tacos. Gave up and left soon after. Will not go back
Not much there for the children. Does have nice restrooms and looks like it is a place with a view as you walk your dog. Away to relax from the stresses of the day.but you can't stay late for the park is closed to vehicles at 5pm.
This park has no playground but rather trees and open space. Great for pick nicks and to watch fireworks on fourth of July. Hiking/walking trails connect to it. Good place to just sit and have your lunch. Luigis pizza is near by.
It's a nice family friendly park. There's no assument area for children nor BBQ grills. But is nice for picnics and walks. Also there should be another restroom at the other end of the park. Overallbi would give this park a b
Great local gem for picnic or enjoying the weather. Will be super honest, it's right below the plane paths landing at SD airport, but if you want a large field with trees to hang out with people and picnic it's a good park.
Nice small park. Great for walking , biking. Has a rest room.
Restrooms
They are clean.
Dog-friendliness
Need to keep the dog on a leash.
Picnic area
There is a place for hot coals and tables to eat on.
Really nice park.. lots of trees and space nice views of downtown.. and they have allot of events there went here for tacotopia and brews and burgers there don't drink but the food was awesome... Great place and fun times
Great views. Super chill. A mix of all kind of people. Lots of kids and families playing yard games. Bathrooms are good. They have places for hot coals to dispose. My friends got married here on a Saturday.
Nice views of the park, the hospital, and downtown. Lots of interesting trees. You can also watch planes land since they will be going directly overhead. (makes having zoom meetings from here a bit tricky)
This is a wonderful place to take a stoll alone or with tge critters and the whole family! The large planes fly right over the park right before they land and it a great experience! See all down town too!
My friend and I went here to get away from everyone late at night. The views are beautiful. There was nothing that was there that would bother us and there were no signs of anything jenky happening.
Great park in Golden Hill. Has bathrooms, a water fountain and a lot of people jog at all times of the day. Very spacious people often play soccer, volleyball or even walk around the small trail
Great place for family parties with a lot of open space to enjoy. Celebrated a family birthday party and will again in the future. They also have those beautiful purple flower trees all over.
Always been here since i was little, it's a fun place to visit and have a picnic, even great to chill there at night. However they could re-build or give the bathroom there a makeover.
Neighborhood park is within walking distance of 20 min. It's been a fav of mine for many years. The trees are so beautiful and they will welcome you into their shady nests...
Good location to walk my dogs it has trail if u felling outdoorsy this is my go to spot for picnic i love the view u can see all of downtown sd and the beautiful landscape
Nice little park. Great place to walk around. Nice neighborhood too. You can hear and see the planes coming into Lindbergh Field.
Small little park, but with a great view. The name is very fitting as the sunset is beautiful being the backdrop of downtown SD
I had a great time at this facility enjoying / watching a Capoeira workshop. The place was clean and friendly. I had a blast.
Love coming to this place for running around the loop or even walking through the trail. Beautiful scenery and very tranquil
Family Park with playground and picnic tables. Restroom and easy parking. Open space park canyons to the north and south.
Went here for a taco fest and really enjoyed the space. There is an amazing tree that must span over 100 ft in diameter
A spacious neighborhood park where people enjoy sitting, dog walking, jogging, picnicking, walking and sun bathing.
Great place to relax play some football or just chill. Park closes once the sun goes down. The cops are on it too.
Great to relax and walk around. There are some amazing fig trees. We love to hang out after school or for lunch.
Super dope park perfect for family gatherings, play time, walking your pooch, or simply a self photo shoot.
We've been going to this park over 3 generations. It's a very Special place in our family history. Love it
Such a gem of a park. The trees are giant and old and perfection. Quiet area, relaxed vibe, lush grass.
Had a blast at the Burgers and Beer fest... Definitely will be back next year love this park.
Small park with a nice view of the city. Not too busy. The road is filled with potholes.
Just went to eat my lunch and enjoy the park. Needs more restrooms . …
I just love coming just to go for a walk or seat at the tables to relax
I love this park, always have! Quiet, parking, beautiful views
Great experience tuning then food and drinks!
Great park just not enough parking.
