I really like this place and I've been multiple times but there's been a few things that are making me not want to come back. Last time I was in, my husband and I started feeling watery-eyed and we found out it was because they were chopping onions with the kitchen door open. I talked to the guy about it and he laughed and shrugged it off saying he was miserable too. It was so unbearable we had to leave. Middle of the day. The other issue I have is the music keeps getting louder and louder. You have to shout to have a conversation and it's not pleasant to work there anymore because the music is blaring. It's pretty dead during the day and I'm pretty sure this is why. Otherwise, it could be a very popular meeting spot but I won't take clients here if we can't have a conversation. I'm glad they got chairs with backs on them. Still uncomfortable but a lot more manageable now. I don't expect to ever see a line at this place because it's pretty expensive for what you get but they have good food and what seems like a lot of potential. I just think they could fit their daytime crowd better instead of acting like they don't have customers during that time.

Excited to have a cute wine and coffee spot in South Austin! I believe one of the reviews already mentioned it and I agree, this place has potential but needs some changes. The location is great with enough parking and it’s a great spot to drink if you’re catching up with some friend or grabbing quick drinks for a date. My friends and I were not impressed with the cheese plate! The cheese plate cost around $24 so we were expecting it to have more than a few crackers and nuts. It’s not shareable, the presentation and cheese selection can definitely be better. I wish the lady at the counter mentioned something when I asked or suggested a different option. We do think some of the other items like the bread and baked goods are a better alternative. We enjoyed the wine selection and will be back to give it another shot.

I’m so excited to have a wine bar in my neighborhood. This isn’t an “every day” spot for me (ballin’ on a budget over here) but definitely a “now and then” spot. The food was delightful - they have an ever changing menu with interesting bites. We tried the bread + butter and the Spanish tortilla - $6 each. They partner with local bakeries (Texas French Bread, Sour Duck) for their bread and breakfast pastries. The wine was good - I enjoyed my glass of bubbles and they let me taste a couple before I selected that. They seem super knowledgeable. Their wines by the glass are limited and on the pricier side ($12-14) but you can purchase a bottle from their shop and drink it there plus take home whatever you don’t finish. Oh and they have happy hour 4:00-6:00 (I think it’s $2 off and no corkage fee but don’t quote me). The vibes were so nice I can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic! From the drinks to the food and even the atmosphere, everything we tried was beyond expectations. I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk, and while other cafes serve it a bit on the bitter side, the taste was a tame sweetness. The roast they use is perfect. The matcha latte was also not as bitter as they're usually served at other locations. Don't know if they do it often, but they had a butter imported from France which they used to cook our meals. The breakfast burrito, the smoked salmon & labneh tartine, and toast with mousse & duck fat dulce de Leche were all mouthwateringly good. Looking forward to coming back and trying more.

This place has potential, but needs some fine tuning.. Food - 9 Wine - 7 (only had one bottle, so hard to tell on rest) Staff - 10 (lovely staff!!) Ambiance - 3…. This is where they need work Overall, not the spot you want to have a dinner date. It’s a bit sterile and needs more art/rugs/plants/ and LIGHT… it was so dark in the evening. A wine and cheese night needs a warm ambiance! They can do some fine tuning and make this into a great local spot. In my opinion it’s just not there yet… but the tartine might bring me back (10/10)

My wife and I were born and raised in Austin and have lived in 78745 for over 6 years now. This is the long-awaited restaurant that the area has desperately needed. The ambiance is very laid back and casual, and the food is delicious. We've been several times and have never left disappointed. The breakfast burrito is awesome and lives up to the hype. We loved the beef tartar, pasta, and the variety of wines they have to offer. The wait staff is super friendly as well.

One of my favorite places to hang for happy hour. Natural wine selection is super curated for discerning tastes. The staff is very friendly, and the food options coming out of the kitchen balance being both familiar and adventurous. The chef seems to work with seasonal ingredients to present something new and fresh on a consistent basis. We are gluten-free and there always seems to be options available for us. Whether it's a mid-morning latte/espresso or an early evening aperitivo transitioning into dinner, this place is a go-to for our family.

I almost don't want to write this review because I feel like I've discovered something amazing and I don't want to share it. Golden Hour is phenomenal - exactly the kind of place south Austin needed. We went on Sunday and sat outside - it's just perfect for catching up with a friend or meeting a date for an hour or two. The food is so good and there is a wide variety of wine to choose from. I was told that you can choose a bottle from their shelves, have a glass, and then they'll cork it for you to take home. I will be going back again soon!

Not sure why everyone is so over the moon with this place. Over priced, small glasses and small pours of wine. An average pour is 5 oz. There's no way 1/2 of those small glasses are 5 oz as they only fill it halfway. Cheese plate was good but could definitely use some more crackers. Staff doesn't serve you, you serve yourself. I didn't see water anywhere nor was it offered. For $14 glass of wine, I'll go somewhere else that does a good pour.

Working nearby at a jobsite with terrible Wi-Fi, so I needed to find a nice coffee shop and am so happy to have stumbled upon Golden Hour. They have an amazing selection of coffee and wine, as well as bakery items and light bites. Decided to try the Olive Oil cake and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it is! Their outdoor space is beautiful and perfect for working outdoors when the weather is like it is today :)

Great coffee, excellent food, excellent wine selection, friendly staff. This place rules. Also, as a side note, it would be great if every cook / chef in this city came here and ate the scrambled eggs because they make them perfectly and everywhere else, they can't seem to understand what they should be without burning them. Seriously though you can tell the chef really cares about his food and it's excellent and made with care.

I wanted to like this place bc I was so excited to have a fun wine bar in south Austin! But, 21 dollars for a very sad cheese board was such a bummer! The inside is also so so loud. It wasn’t even very busy and it was so hard to hear the person I was with! I will say the wine was fabulous and I did enjoy the list but don’t go if you’re hungry or if it’s not cool enough to sit outside.

Omar makes one of the best cortados in all the land. I was driving away drinking my cortado and almost crashed my car because my world was rocked - it's that good. Super amazing addition to the South community, really love the peeps over at Golden Hour! Check em out for your next date spot, wine with friends, or just your regular *craft* coffee joint in the morning.

We’ve been here several times and now and the food is excellent. The beef tartare is fantastic and there are always interesting small plates that rotate on the menu. The people here are friendly and welcoming (even when we brought our kids). Highly recommended.

The vibe of this place is great and the outside is great. But it’s far too loud inside every time I’ve gone. Hard to have a conversation and the last time I was there one of speakers died and it was still far too loud, that’s how bad it is. Don’t go unless it’s cold enough to sit outside or else you won’t be able to hear the person you’re with.

Golden Hour is a haven for those seeking a retreat from the hustle. Its inviting atmosphere whispers "come chill" with warm tones, comfy seating, and a delightful blend of aromas. Whether you're sipping on a velvety coffee or indulging in a glass of fine wine, this coffee shop effortlessly exudes cozy vibes. It's the perfect spot to reset, unwind, and savor the golden moments of relaxation.

South Austin is fortunate to have this gem of a place! The menu was tight, food was yummy. The wines seem to focus on natural, unfiltered and some sour. Not my favorite but I found one that I liked. The courtyard seating is great for larger groups or if you bring the kiddos. Bar seating is entertaining because you get to watch the food prepared in a really small space.

Golden Hour is perfection, and EXACTLY what burgeoning nearby neighborhoods need. I thoroughly enjoyed Friday outdoor dinner; they have a lovely patio but also large grounds with picnic table where our 20 month old granddaughter could roam. Every dish was outstanding -- softshell crab was the BOMB -- and equally so at Tuesday brunch. Will be back REGULARLY.

  • Chase Hamblin

My favorite new spot for fantastic natural/low intervention wines and chef curated food. Great vibe, excellent food and wide selection of amazing natty wines. You can get bottles to go and during the day you can get Amaya coffee from Houston, which is one of my favorite high quality coffee roasters. The menu rotates and everything I’ve had has been spot on.

Our favorite south Austin neighborhood spot. Beautiful patio and the staff always take such good care of us. Food and wine are high quality and I love all of the organic and biodynamic options they offer. It’s not an everyday spot but a perfect place for a date night or celebration with friends ✨ can’t recommend this spot enough!

  • Mackenzie Borders

Adorable spot on the south side. My husband and I came by early evening on a Friday. Their entire outdoor seating was full (opportunity to expand). It was during happy hour which we appreciated! Also loved getting to taste wines before ordering. That said, I think they should expand their wine by the glass list.

I enjoyed this little spot outside of the Austin rush. It’s nice to be able to enjoy a good coffee in a chill ambience. The coffee scene has changed a lot and too be in a space that was inclusive and accommodating was a breath of fresh air. Will be back :)

Loved the food and wine selection. The staff were also very friendly. However the poor ventilation left me stinking of cooked grease. At one point my eyes were burning. I had to go straight home, shower and change my clothes. I won’t be going back unless the ventilation gets fixed.

Everything about this cafe is high quality. Food can be overwhelming sometimes but the staff can be sweet. Even got a food item on the house because their house made yogurt was extra sour when I visited. Great service.

It’s ok if you’re grabbing coffee to go but it’s way too loud to have a conversion and not a lot of seating. The wine pours are small. It’s next to an apartment complex office and just feels a meh

Wonderful experience. Canard aux Olives was cooked to perfection and the fennel was delicious too. The value on the food is incredible. The service is prompt, friendly and the seating outside is pleasant. I highly recommend the Golden Hour!

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Great selection of wine and the menu items really are on a whole other level. If you love wine and enjoy small plates or either of the two you will not be disappointed by Golden Hour. Plus it's super chill.

Beautiful ambiance! Wonderful selection of wine and coffee!! Delicious food, cooked/sliced fresh! It’s like Italian country side meets Texas hill country! A perfect match! Love this place!!

Lovely little addition to south Austin. It just opened so I can’t wait to see how it grows! I do wish there were more comfortable seats/lounge areas. Maybe that will be added later.

Great location, friendly staff, good coffee drinks, pricey food, most uncomfortable seating indoors and outside. Would I go again? Probably. Would I bring my own chair? Most def!
