When your nightlife needs a nightlife, check this place out. Come get your relax on... Located conveniently off the Galvin Plaza on 2nd South & sharing street space with another landmark Marriott on State, 'Good Grammer' has a district vibe gushing like sweet tea thru Salt Lakes trendy diversity set against the aee inpiring majesty of the Wasatch Mountain range to the East... From the expansive floor space - there's a vivid & memorable collection of notable peoples & faces on half the wall space. It makes for conversation & trivia. There's lengthy marble slab counters around the bar that slide back into another, deeper interior section off the kitchen offering a lighted showcase of select spirits. The more than ample seating accommodates a large crowd inside, with a brick paver patio outside. Lately Good Gtammer has featured a rotating selection of popular DJs offering fresh electronica & hip hop which draws a packed house. This place literally jumps into full swing on nights like these with one of those nights being last nite, Aug. 14, 2021. It was a full house of jammin' peeps The planned architecture shows off this unassuming business case as it opens onto the street through floor to ceiling glass accordion doors & windows set back from a quiet side street. It reflects loads of thought and process. Good Grammer creates a real world inside/outside feeling panding to vibrant experiences offeing chill vibes. And don't worry about finding a place to park. The Marriott next door & Galvin Center parking across this quiet side street off State means you'll always have secure weatherproof parking. If you're looking for a placs for you & a partner to chill down or vibe up to freshly featured electronica - it wont disappoint.

Used to be a great place. Now the employees are rude and unprofessional. Awful service. Twice. (I never write reviews, first time. It was that bad) First time I got a some drinks and the total was $19. I handed him a $20 and told him to keep the change and wait a second. My friend was going to give him more money to leave a bigger tip but before she could even open her wallet. He was started yelling at us “really that’s it, just one dollar!” He threw it back at us. We were shocked. Second time. It was busy and we were waiting in line to get in. He told us we had to wait, no big deal, we get it. His name tag said “guardian”. He had his hood on and smoking cigarettes and blowing smoke into the line of people, like he was the coolest person there. He let in a brunch of girls who had just walked up to the front and took bribes. Okay, like that’s annoying but whatever. A guy was leaning over the fence and talking to his friends in line and the “guardian” shoved him back over the fence and pushed my friends and I out of the way to do so. But with that action, I fell backwards and got stepped on. Now I have a bruises. Needless to say, we left. Went to Johnnys, had a great time and paid a lot less for some drinks :)

First off I want to say that I am a server myself and have been in the service industry for the majority of my working life. We walked in at around 8:30 pm and were starving, as we have not eaten all day. We were greated by Cody, our server. I ask him for the food menu, and he says that we have to order from the bar. That is fine, it's late and we get that, so I ask him if he is still serving food, as a means to give him an out. He says they are, so we order the food. All of the food comes out at different times, and is cold and all around not tasty. If it weren't for the fact that we were starving we wouldn't even have touched that garbage (yes we ate the food, but instantly regretted it.) Now Cody, you should have taken the out that was provided to you. You should have told us that kitchen was closing and the quality will not be up to par. We would have gladly have gone somewhere else for food and come back for drinks. We were actually looking forward to coming to this place from reading the other reviews. Now honesty is the best service you can provide, and honestly the service and food have been forever been cemented in my memory as the worst dining experience I have ever had.

Maybe I'm lost on the concept of a speakeasy, but I don't get the vibe or style this bar is going for at all. It's less of a speakeasy and more of a speakloudly. Don't get me wrong, the DJ was great, but he was also bumping it loud and it just wasn't at all the atmosphere I was expecting. It seems to me this is just another place trying to latch onto the overworked and dying 'speakeasy' bar trend. The crowd was generally young, loud, and boisterous. And of course there are the oversized Jenga games outside with toilet humor jokes written on most of the pieces. Fun if that's your thing, just be careful of your toes. The drinks are expensive here. like $10+, so be prepared to shell out. It was also much more about the show of making them rather than the actual finished product. I could care less about how many times your flip your arm around or bring your eyeball within millimeters of the glass to 'measure' the ingredients. If you're going to charge $11 for a drink, it had better just taste fantastic. My best bet is that this place is popular because it's new, but won't have as much staying power as some of the other bars in the area based on my experiences.

This place is pretty awesome. Located right in the middle of the Gallivan Center, I can't think of an area in downtown Salt Lake more deserving of a bar and grill. The entire front of this place is glass doors that can be rolled into the ceiling during the summer to let not only light, but a beautiful breeze in as well. Everything inside is clean and modern. I was commenting on how much I liked the bar top and a gentleman sitting next to me asked, "so you like that?" I said I do, and he said, "I made that." I thought he was the contractor but he ended up being the owner. Real cool dude. I commented that I also like the pictures he chose for the wall and said I could name every celebrity. He decided to challenge me and pointed to one. "Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5" I replied. Challenge won. In any case, spirits here are high, service is great, and I hope to be back. I high suggest including Good Grammar in your typical downtown Friday night bar hopping.

came here for jazz night (thurs) it was so cute and the jazz players were SO talented. I wish more people came to see them because they deserved it but I also enjoyed how chill it was without a lot of people there. Food was mids and lower than average bar food (we tried vegan wings and tots). Service was okay.. at the bar they were nice but when we were done eating no one came to grab our dirty food trays sitting on the corner for over an hour. Gross. Also remember there weren’t many people there that night so it’s not like the staff was super busy.

It’s normally a 4.4 but the security wasn’t very hospitable and it’s not his job to be. To start the story the vibe was excellent for after 1am still playing songs; the security was trying to get everyone to leave by flashing strobe lights in their eyes and I have Type 1 Diabetes and am seizure prone. I asked the security guard to not flash it in my face as I was gathering friends to leave. I’m in the wrong and said “ F you that’s not cool” after telling him I was seizure prone and he grabbed my arms and quickly escorted me out. Great job on the escorting but sucks that the man can’t or won’t empathize. The bartenders are much nicer and carry a few less guns

The building looks closed from the outside because the windows as well as the inside is so dark, even with the open sign, but do not be fooled! They're open. The lighting is probably one of the darkest bars I have been too, but I really like it. The atmosphere is calming, there is a small disco ball, and real candles that are lit for you at the table. I went on a slow day and ordered a delicious hot alcoholic cocktail I can't recall the name of. The bartender was helpful, and friendly. I reccomend checking this place out.

  • Marina Rose

Wish I could even review this place but we were straight up ignored. Stood by the door for a solid 15 minutes. So long in fact that another girl walked in and handed me her ID because she thought I worked there. Place was borderline empty and I made eye contact with the staff several times and nada. Until her friend walked in, to which she was greeted immediately. And My husband and I were still....ignored. We’re like late 20’s we’re not too old for the bar scene lol. Ended up just leaving. Probably for the best anyways.

Lousy service. The bartender said Long Island Ice Teas were not allowed in Utah. I asked for two other drinks, one also wasn't allowed and the other they didn't have the ingredients for. My wife has had Long Island Ice Teas in Utah on multiple occasions. Wouldn't go back, nothing special and there are plenty of other places to go. There was so much basil in one drink it looked liked I was going to use it to bake with as a marinade. The Zombie tasted lousy as well.

  • Kit Stanworth

They would not let my friend in because she is trans. Last night the gentleman checking the door around 12:30 am would not accept her passport as valid ID. She also had a student ID matching the passport and is well over the drinking age (she's 27). We asked about talking to a manager and the person said they already had and that there was nothing he could do. This was incredibly embarrassing for her and no other bar in town gave us ANY hassle.

Holla holla Good Grammar!!!! They food is good but I am giving 5 stars because Good Grammar has the BEST staff and the hippest, hottest, BEST music in SLC. Seriously. Came here Saturday night and never wanted to leave. The crowd was so diverse and everyone was having a blast together. 10 stars, 10 stars, 10 stars. Highly recommend Good Grammar if you are wanting to put on your dancing shoes and practice your floor routines. #ThanksToAllMyFans

  • Sara Jo

This place definitely deserves more exposure. Drink menu is very unique (especially in Utah), their food is delicious and reminds me of a menu you would see at a brewery. The atmosphere is great, my only request (and I know it's a little silly for a bar/club) is to lower the music volume just a bit. It's really hard to hear what the person next to you is saying, let alone the bartender! Overall though, you guys are great!

  • Dave Hutchison

We stopped in real quick waiting for reservations at Takashi and was greeted by a man with more luscious hair than my GF's, not sure if we were jealous or amazed but Sawyer was phenomenal to chat with and enjoy a quick drink. If you're looking for a fun exciting spot to relax we heavily recommend good Grammar. Be careful on those beer/shot deals...... They'll getchu

The staff is very friendly and kind. I've been here over 10 times at this point and the service is always above and beyond. Good Grammar is not your local, cheap dive bar. So don't expect the drinks to be priced as so. Each cocktail is well thought out and they bring in a lot of unique flavors. I recommend checking out the Watermelon Daze while it's still available.

  • C - Roses

They've changed their food menu and cocktail style a lot now, and it's not for the better. Food was less than special and not unique. Also we went on a Friday night in February and the patio didn't have mega-jenga, heaters or fire, etc., for smokers and those who would like to have drinks outside, as in years past...Tbh, very boring spot now. Meh music as well.

  • Casey Garcia

Showed up around 20:00 and sat down in a booth. Server came over and mentioned that they were transitioning to bar only. We asked if they were still serving food, to which they said they were. We ordered food, which came out cold. Had to ask for silverware for non finger foods. Service seemed forced and a tad rude. Experience wasn't as expected.

  • Sai Karella

One of worst experiences at a bar I have ever had. The place itself was nice and welcoming and good music, but the bartender with a mowhawk was short of an as*hole. Not only did he serve people he likes in order he decides, but also stated/screamed this as a fact I called himout on it. Very disappointed and not going back until he is replaced.

  • J Yanda

We got lucky on a Sat afternoon and came across this spot, not busy. Really beautiful inside. Great light and atmosphere. The bartender was awesome, I think we'd just go back to see him again lol. Overall a great afternoon lunch and drink. A bit pricey but who cares.. we don't mind paying a little extra for great service and ambiance.

  • Kiana Rose

I went late on a Saturday night for the dancing and drinks. The place was much smaller than I expected and therefore extremely crowded and hot. I went up to the bar to order a couple drinks (their menu had no prices marked on it) and when they gave me the total it was about $30! And my drink was primarily just ice... …

  • Chris Larsen

Came here during parents weekend at University of Utah. We were definitely the oldest people there. It's a fun bar for college students and a popular place as evidenced from the line line to get in. Drink prices were reasonable, $7 for a shot and a beer!

The service is not great. I sat at the bar 5 minutes with no acknowledgement. I asked for a food menu, and the bartender set the menu down and walked away. Its been ten minutes, and she's walked by me twice. I am one of 6 people in here right now and the only one at the bar. It should never take this long for service...

  • Aaron N

Great little hole in the wall bar. They had large windows that opened to the street to let a nice breeze in when I went. The food options were light but satisfying. I tried to put the age range down but it was all over the place which was nice so I did not feel like a young whipper snapper or an old fart there.

  • Nicolas Jordan

Walk in and asked for food menu. Gave us an attitude to serve food because of transitioning to bar only. We asked again if they were serving food to make sure we weren't going to be an issue. Served food cold. Ordered tacos and came with cold carnitas. Didn't bring out forks or water, we had to ask.

  • Element Window

Best bar in downtown salt lake. Nothing else like it.. good music, outdoor patio with games, dance floor inside, booths and tables to sit at.. this bar is decorated with great taste People of all ages were here and there’s plenty of staff to get you drinks. We will definitely be back!!!! …

  • Sala Tumanuvao

It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I got an orange carrot and charcoal salted rim drink (sorry cant remember the name) and my friend got a similar signature cocktail but it just wasn't amazing like i wanted it to be. Seems like a cool little venue but sadly disappointed by the drinks we got.

  • Cade Anderson

Good Grammar isn’t big and gets absolutely packed pretty quickly, but they have a nice, clean, ambient atmosphere with a good outdoor space to sit down and chat in. They offer lots of unique and tasty (albeit a bit pricey) cocktails, including one with CBD oil and one with kombucha!

  • John MacLaren

Best bar and food in town and Matt is THE BOMB BARTENDER! You won't find a better bartender in SLC. Great atmosphere and prices. He hooked me up with the best places to go to in SLC and now I've got some great new additions to my list! Can't wait to kill it over the next few days.

  • Maryanna Cruz

Love this spot when it's not holiday season. Disappointed that the birthday reservation I made in December was cancelled and replaced with a work party without any notice (I was told that wouldn't happen). My guests were put completely off as well. Lost big points for that.

  • Mike Misbach

Great venue with good music, good vibes, amazing food and great drinks. Inside is pretty swanky, and the patio is nice. Great location. It's just off the main road so not too much traffic. It's a great place too hangout. Outdoor games like oversize janga and corn hole.

  • Norm Tipoai

Great atmosphere. Saturday nights they have a dj spinning today's tunes, and a big crowd. Downside is that they do not have enough staff to serve everyone. Stood at bar for 30 minutes, and we were getting nowhere. Finally took my group, and went elsewhere.

  • Jake D

Tell that karaoke DJ to smile every once in a while. Maybe even have jovial banter with the performers rather than just say "sure" and "okay" to everything. He doesn't even sing, himself. Kinda seems miserable. Give him the boot. You can do better.

  • Jessica Chance

We went here for the first time last night and I think we found a new favorite bar! The atmosphere was awesome, the food was amazing, and the drinks were spectacular! I would definitely recommend Good Grammar to all my friends and family.

  • Tanna Berensen

Very cool atmosphere but the staff seemed a little overwhelmed. Plus the cocktails tasted awful. Get something out of a can or simple to make. The DJ was good and the people were fun. The location is also great. Easy to walk to.

  • Jonathan Rodriguez

We went in for some mocktails and they were delicious! Cody, the bar tender that made them, is excellent at his craft. He made us a drink that had rosemary in it which was refreshing, tart and balanced with a few other flavors.

  • Charles Eagar

I showed up on a Friday Night for a drink and there was 1 “bartender” and support staff . both myself and my friends waited over 30 minutes with no attention from the bartender saying that they are busy with other customers.

  • Kevin Harkness

Definitely a great bar. Excellent service at the bar, prices are moderate, but the volume of the music makes it feel more like a dance club than a bar. I've only been there once, so perhaps that night was "dance night."

  • Gym B

Absolutely one of the BEST Night Spots the 801! Safe GREAT DRINKS AND DJ IS BANGING,, A MUST DO ON YOUR VISIT TO THE LAKE THEUT200 GIVES THIS CLUB 5 STARS AND PLEASE TELL THE MGR FALLAN MURREL ,THE 801 SENT YOU ! LEGGO

  • Brittany White

We meet the owner, awesome laid back, nice guy. . We came for lunch, the lox and capers was good. The drinks were good priced. Our waiter was extremely accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place ☺️.

  • MISIA F

Bar owner was incredibly disrespectful and was yelling obscenities at customers… was threatening and made guests uncomfortable, all for an honest mistake without warning! Worker named magic was nice though!

  • Kenny James

The food is always delicious (and gorgeous), the staff is always friendly, and the music is always great. If you haven't checked out GG, swing by one day (or night) and meet the crew. It's a great place.

  • michael

Beer was decent price and good nachos. The bartender wasnt very good. Took forever to get a beer in the empty bar and had to ask multiple times to close out. Has games and corn hole which is a plus.

  • Dustin Pyper

We went in for some food after a date. The place was great, good music and a laid back atmosphere but after looking at the menu couldn't find anything we wanted and went somewhere else

  • Jessica Marie Wellness

The best service and staff. I love their cocktails and yummy brunch! The night life is way fun! Upbeat tunes and old school music. I like to put on my dancing shoes and boogie down.

  • Amber Hafen

Awesome bar just extremely pricey. Their drinks are unique though they have some flavors you can't find. They we're really friendly. The bartenders seem to love working there

  • Ty Maxey

In my Top 3 for SLC. Great menu, excellent service, good music. Had trouble with the bill on my last visit but the manager was quick to sort it out. Give Good Grammar a try!

Fun bar downtown with craft cocktails, talented bartenders and decent snacks. Chive TV plays on the TVs most the time, if not an 80s classic movie. Pretty pricey drinks!

  • Ren W

Cool, dog-friendly patio. Good cocktails. Friendly service. Pretty decent beer list. Great for a twilight chill before the late night begins or as the early night ends.

  • Alan Brown

Craft cocktails with chill vibe. Occasional misses when you give the bartenders too much creative rooms, but one of my favorite places to grab a drink on Friday nights.

  • Kelsey Ballstaedt

Small but fun cocktail menu and live music, had a great time here on a Saturday. Wasn't too crowded and no wait to get in, plus the bathroom is very cute for selfies!

  • Cameron Stark

Good Grammar is always a solid place to get a great cocktail. I love the chill weekday vibe, though it's always a good time when a DJ is spinning on the weekend.

  • Jarek Mansfield

Owner specifically said “ i will choke throat. I’ll break your f-word neck just for leaving and coming back. Bartender Josh was chill but fat owner was mad rude

  • David Bute

Fun place. Nice patio and friendly staff. My only complaint is a lack of vegetarian options on their food menu (There are a few, but it's seriously lacking)

  • Maggie Geertsen

Really knowledgeable bartenders, great selection of well-crafted cocktails. The food was divine as well- I had their Cuban sandwich and it was fantastic.

  • Michael Erin Strong

Very cool ambiance, but the bar ebbs and flows, and the drinks are either high-end mixology or very cheap beer. It's a place you'd hop to for one round.

  • Donovan Decker

Delicious craft cocktails. Everything from an old-fashioned to martinis that are tasty. Always have new-take-on-a-classic cocktails on the menu.

  • Evana Mauriz

I haven’t been here in years, is there still giant Jenga?? Ive been calling to find out but I don’t know if the number listed here is accurate

  • Louisa Peterson

Tyler was very friendly and hospitable! I spilled my drink and he made my drink again without charge after watching it spill! Best bartender!

  • Lyndsay O'Connor

This place is awesome! Super cool vibe with great music, delicious cocktails, and wonderful service. Would absolutely recommend heading here.

  • Calvin Tucker

Great atmosphere. No cover charge. Creative house drinks and awesome bartenders/staff. AND JENGA!!! What more ya gotta say, but, JENGA??

  • Dalton Bamburg

Pretty decent bar, appreciate the vegan options but they felt a bit plain. Definitely love the nitro polygamy porter being on tap here.

  • Shaun Smith

Nice bar that is somewhat hidden from the busy streets of downtown. Very modern and new feel, excellent drinks, and a fun atmosphere.

  • Elena Shanin

Fantastic cocktails and with the menu changing regularly, there's always something new to try. DJs on the weekends play great music

  • Disruptive Tech

Cool hang out spot. They were playing 90's hip hop music on Friday night which was cool. Outdoor area with oversized Jenga games.

  • Alexis Guel

They charged me and my girl friend twice $10 for a shot of ciroc but my other pal only $5. They had Jenga and a small dancefloor.

  • A. Nakamura

Great patio, nice bartender. The drinks were good, but check your receipt!! Someone put a whole round of someone else's on ours.

  • Kevin Taylor

This place isn’t normally that bad. But tonight they had 2 bartenders for 150 people. After a 20 minute wait for a drink I left.

  • Eleonora Karniayenka

This place becomes a nightclub with a dj after 10- and usually super busy. Showed up when it was a bit slow.. drinks were ok..

  • Heidi S

I like the outdoor patio. Cool people that work there. Fun free latin class and dancing! XO-lé! ♥️ …

  • Morgyn Hill

the fat guy that thinks he owns the bar said that he will snap customers necks in half…… not very welcoming if u ask me

  • Tiana Naylor

Great drinks. Pricing is rather moderate. Great atmosphere and music. A good place to dance when the right crowd is in.

  • Alpine Pyper

Great space. Good atmosphere, amazing food and an awesome tap list. Came for the hip-hop night and had an awesome time.

  • Whitney Brown

Killer $6 Old Fashioned- cute spot with the fire pits outside too. Tucked away in the centre of the city, loved it.

  • Danielle Calderon

Bartenders were dope! Atmosphere was weird, prices are reasonable. the patio is cool, but you can't smoke on it.

  • clancey henderson

Good location. Limited food menu, but decent spot for lunch. Apparently a good spot for low key drinks at night.

  • Mark Ramirez

The local talent shows are always dope. Great spot to chill with friends and enjoy plenty of good entertainment

  • Amanda Heinlein

Dog friendly patio! They give each dog a bowl of water. Also made the best mojito that I've had in a long time!

  • Shai

Great bar tenders and lovely atmosphere. I have been to this bar a few times and always have a wonderful time.

  • Camden Udwin

Great environment and drinks! The staff was very friendly and I will definitely return next time I am in SLC.

  • Kelly Wilkins

Prices are good and I like the service. Nice spot if you’re not trying to go to a huge crazy bar. Cool lights

  • Shalyce Sam Mutchie

Great drinks, fun atmosphere, great music. The bartenders were nice, and very aware. I'll definitely be back.
