I would like to share how incredible my training experience in Goodlife Fitness is. From the start of telephone inquiry and registration with the help an amazing and friendly person Zoen I am officially a gym member. I love the group classes like Body Pump and Zumba. I was introduced into personal training to achieve my goals which is to get fitter, healthier and stronger. Eric Miranda is my personal trainer and I can say that he is the best of the bests. He loves what he does. He goes above and beyond in what he does in training; truly exceptional. I remember I was sweating like crazy and I don't have a towel, he immediately got one for me, that touches my heart. A little gesture but creates a difference. A great feeling that I will never forget. Another time, even I was out of the training schedule, when he saw me working out, he was ready to assist me in the workout plan he provided even outside of his duty time. He helps in stretching too which I really needed at the end of the workout. I was also very pleased with recovery friday relaxation- it felt so great! ERIC is an asset that Goodlife Fitness MUST KEEP FOREVER. I was hesitant to go for personal training before but because of Eric I continue to do my training. I believe and confidently say that I will achieve my goals with his help. He not only motivates me in the training but also provides workouts that are fun, and that target the areas I need to work on. He makes sure I do my workout well and in proper form. He monitors my progress: nutrition, workout... He even have an app for that. He is flexible and easy to reach when I have questions and with scheduling. I tell all my friends and acquaintances to sign up with Goodlife Fitness and take Eric as their PT. Eric is a great example of the art and science of wellness and health. He truly cares, helps; pouring his heart, his passion and applying his knowledge and skills to let his clients like me achieve our goals. Thank you so much Eric because of you, I invested in my health. I am forever grateful to all of your help and always looking forward to continue my training journey with you. Thank you Goodlife Fitness for bringing the best people like Eric to be a part of our health and wellness journey.
I was unhappy with myself and my weight. I kept telling myself that I was going to start working on it and never did. Until I tried to put on my old clothes and they weren't even close to fitting. I knew I needed a personal trainer due to my previous back injury among other bodily issues. I was recommended to Eric. The issues I experienced from my injuries now pale in comparison to what I used to feel. Eric has helped me progress so much and in ways I didn't realize I needed. He has helped me recognize and correct my poor technique, and posture. He helped teach me how to recognize where certain problems are coming from when I try an exercise. I can now understand to an extent what I'm doing wrong when I attempt to work a particular group of muscles. Eric helps me keep ambitious with my goals in what I want out of the gym, always striving for more. I have lost 30lbs and gone from a 31 body fat percentage to 24 percent inside 2 months. Already others have noticed a considerable change and more importantly, so have I. I feel healthier. I feel like I can look at myself in the mirror again. And I wouldn't have made it this far, let alone this efficiently, without Eric and his expertise. Eric is a coach who will give you as much and more than what you put in. If you give it your all, he will give you everything you need and motivate and support you to do even more. Even though it hasn't been long enough for me to reach all of my initial goals for joining the gym, Eric already has me excited and looking forward to beyond that. I don't even know what might be over that horizon I set for myself but, I do know that with Eric's help, I'll see it. He's already helped me come so far and we haven't even made the first step. There's still so far to go, so high to climb, but with Eric's help, what seemed like a mountain bigger than everest, just looks like hill now. I'm excited for what's in store.
I have been going to this gym for a few years now with a generally positive experience. Although I find most of the staff to be friendly there are areas with regards to customer service that would not pass the grade in my line of work. The two biggest areas I would recommend for improvement would be quicker turnaround time on equipment maintenance. Of the 4 main eliptical machines they have there (just one example), it is rare that any of them will work perfectly. Everything from a poorly gliding track, to handles falling apart, TV's not working, or buttons on the interface that do not function. They always say the parts come up from the U.S. but I'm not sure why this is the only means of maintenance for a facility located in Canada and why it would take sometimes upwards of 6 months for the repair to take place? Secondly was with regard to billing issues. I had attempted to switch to a more cost effective program after encouraging my wife to join and tried to take advantage of a current monthly promotion in doing so. When I found out that the change hadn't been made, was no longer available, and that my usual rates would apply, all that I received from management was acknowledgement that it was a learning opportunity for the employee and a contact number for head office where no one answers or ever returns your call. I originally liked the idea of supporting my quaint, local gym, but when I required their support they came up short. Where I work we do what's right for the customer. Even if it's at our personal expense. We know both that it's the right thing to do and that it will pay dividends in the long run with improved customer satisfaction and good word of mouth for future business.
I have been a member of this club since March, I switched from another gym. I mainly go for 2 specific classes which is body combat instructed by Marissa F and she deserves a lot of credit in the way that she leads her class. Marissa is very engaging and provides great feedback with my progression. She is not just focused on getting through the class, Marissa observes and helps correct any movements to make sure we are doing the moves properly and is very motivating and shows she actually cares of our progression which is sometimes hard to find in an instructor that really shows they care. She is definately an asset to good life in her style of teaching. I also attend body pump classes with Erin H. Erin is also a great instructor in being personable and provides great feedback to improve the movements and providing alternative movements in case you have a lingering injury or pain to modify your workout. She asks for feedback on her class which is a great sign to show that she cares about providing a great experience. The only reason for the 3 stars is that I find it to not be as clean as it should be for example the change room and washroom don't always seem to be maintained. Also the main gym area tends to be dusty or dirty especially the amount of caked on dust on the upstairs window ledges. There have been times I've arrived at the gym and no one is at the front desk so I have to go behind the counter myself to get a gym towel when I've waited sometimes 5 mins for a staff member. I will definately recommend to friends to try the les mills classes especially with the 2 instructors I've been led by. Please consider health and wellbeing with the cleanliness of the gym.
I had a most unfortunate experience with the Granville location in West Edmonton. Just the other day, I noticed they had started withdrawing dues from my bank account. I was not aware the gym was open or that this was occurring and certainly have not been there to use the facility. I called the gym and explained my situation and was told the manager would get back to me. The manager left me a voice mail and email stating that she was unable to refund the dues. I explained in a return email that I was disappointed in the business practice and considering I have diabetes, cardiac illness, and cancer, I have to be extremely careful where I go. I asked her to cancel my membership based on their business practice during a pandemic. I had hoped she would respond with some compassion and perhaps a fix considering my health issues, however, she did not. She responded saying she could not refund anything as that would not be fair to other members and had cancelled my membership that day. She had no compassion or consideration for my situation and that spoke volumes of her character and GoodLife fitness. It has been said the true being of people and organizations comes out during a crisis, like our pandemic. Now I have seen the character of the general manager at the west Edmonton location and possibly a systemic situation of a company prejudicing those with health conditions. Zero compassion for those trying to stay safe. Only interested in its revenue. Please copy this and share so others are aware of GoodLife’s practices.
Edit: this review was five months ago and the stuff still has not been fixed! Also the gym is so dirty (don't know how people are saying it's clean, they obviously aren't working out on the floor areas cuz it's dusty and chunky and gross) and the staff just stands around the front desk and talk with each other, go on their phones or play card games while paper towel dispensers are empty, spray bottles are "broken", and lockers are full of dirt. Clearly they don't listen to feedback like they claim. If it wasn't close to my house I would not return. The replies to these reviews are also meaningless because they don't actually give a hoot. It's a fine gym, but it would sure be nice if they'd fix the constantly broken treadmills and the broken handles on so many pieces of equipment!! This stuff has been broken for months and it's super annoying to have to try three or four treadmills before finding one that works (the stop buttons constantly get stuck... Never had this issue at any other gym). There are broken handles on the cables that never seem to get fixed and it impedes workouts. Also would be nice if they weren't so lax on covid protocols as I don't think they're actually checking. Doesn't make me feel super confident that they're looking after their clients' health. Hand Sanitizer and disinfectant spray/towels shouldn't be empty, especially not as often as they are.
I had to amend my previous review. I had personal training through Goodlife. My binding period and contract term dates state 8th December 2022 to 7th December 2023. Apparently, the system wants me to pay until the 13th December, even with the contact end date of the 7th. I have talked to many people regarding this issue. However, member experience passes me onto the location, and the location pawns me off to member experience. Even when you wait out your contract end date, you still have to pay additional. Contracts are apparently one-sided, with the side that benefits being Goodlife. This location had gone downhill since I first started attending. I used to drive over 20 to 30 minutes because of the culture and vibe at this location. Now I don't even want to drive 5 minutes, which I don't anymore. The trainers and associates are great. It seems that management had headed in the wrong direction. The cleanliness of the establishment has also followed the way of management. It's definitely gutting because this place used to be pretty darn good. I miss seeing many of the smiling faces of the outstanding associates that work here. Maybe one day, management will have adequate training to implement leadership skills effectively, and the culture and vibe will return to what it was like previously. Then I'd be lining up at the door to sign up again.
The level of customer service displayed by the general manager at this location was absolutely atrocious. She was disrespectful, dismissive, and rude over the brief 5 minute conversation that I’d had with her. As someone who’s ran a business for years, I understand the importance of maintaining a high level of customer service. Based on my brief experience with the general manager, it was clear that she didn’t value the customer experience whatsoever. I ended up reaching out to the downtown location to voice my concerns and they were extremely helpful, understanding, and helped me throughout the process. I’ve been a member of goodlife for over 5 years and the level of disrespect that I’d experienced with the general manager encouraged me to cancel my membership. However, after a pleasant conversation with a member of the downtown location, I decided to continue the membership. Knowing that one individual doesn’t represent the values of the entire company. All in all, I don’t believe the general manager at this location accurately represents Goodlife and I truly believe she is unfit for her position.
I've been going to Goodlife in Granville for almost a year and I'm really happy with it. It's clean, staff is friendly and I like the selection of fitness classes. I've been seeing a personal trainer named Wayne and he is excellent. He's extremely personable and motivates me to do my best, even when I think I can't. He pays special attention to my injured knee and works hard to help me achieve pain free movement. I've seen him call out people for terrible gym behavior and I'm glad he does. It's a public gym (not your basement) and should be treated as such. I'm in the Team Training program along with many other people. The Personal Training area is small and it unfortunately does not accommodate all the clients who pay to use it. The trainers often use the turf zone to run circuits for their clients and unfortunately this upsets other members. That being said, people are paying for private training and the turf zone needs to be used for this purpose. They have a fantastic Zumba instructor on Sunday mornings, the class can get quite busy.
The only reason I’m still a member here is that this gym I’m 2 kms away from my house but I’m really starting to consider going elsewhere. Feels like every time I come, the place gets dirtier and just falls apart a bit more. Dust, dirt and hair are everywhere! Don’t ever see anyone with a mop or anything remotely suggesting light upkeep. Almost every time I’m there, one or more of the paper towel dispensers are empty and don’t get filled up until I go to main desk and ask for it to be done. Staff members are friendly but maybe a bit too friendly cause they’d be rather chatting up each other or regulars at the front instead of doing a walk through and noticing what needs attention. Equipment is literally kept together with tape and lots of it! I’d understand maybe covering a small deficiency with tape that doesn’t interfere with the workout, but taping the padding in the most worn out spots won’t do any good! The tears in the padding still eat at your skin, leaving marks and bruises and/or making the workout impossible.
Goodlifes been great, but the 1 hour appointment bookings was not enough so I signed up for L.A fitness before cancelling at goodlife to see if the grass was greener on the other side. Heres what I observed: L.A fitness is about $15.00 cheaper every month and you dont need to book an appointment. The equipment however is..well run down and ghetto. I mean the people in there looked like convicts....you know like tiger king meets remand center type facility. Also I didnt see anyone cleaning at any time I was there. Goodlife does an amazing job at keeping the facility clean and the equipment is great quality. Although they have stricter gym times right now, its overall because they want to avoid covid cases so they are doing the right thing. Long story short, i had to experience another gym to appreciate this one. Im cancelling my L.A fitness membership and living my best life with Goodlife Good job guys!
As an extremely picky client, after years of bad posture, weight gain post pregnancy, bad diets, and zero knowledge of fitness in the gym- Eric has been god sent trainer! He first trained my spouse and when I saw how effective his plan was working for him, I knew I could trust Eric! Truly truly grateful that I met him, he listens to my concerns, helps set goals, smash those goals and reset new goals!! As someone who’s never worked out in life, I love weight training and cardio now. Eric is a phenomenal trainer and human being, everything he customised for my fitness journey he explained patiently what it would do, asked me to trust the process- which I’m so glad I did! Over the past year I’ve lost over 25 pounds, reduced 10% of my body fat and have been in the best shape since my teen years! So grateful! If you ever want to go to Goodlife, consult Eric- He’ll change your life!
First time at this location. I believe in customer etiquette & they showed disinterest. Rather then show me around and create a welcoming experience, the man working front desk continued on his phone and chatting with his friend. Like a lost puppy I had to find my favorite equipment around the gym myself. When I had asked a second time, looking at me like im the silly one; they had pointed in the direction rather then show me. I enjoyed the spaciousness and the organization & was able to figure it out easily. Its only the fact behind it. Courtesy. I hate complaining and didn't want to leave this review, but having this kind of experience is unfair to new comers & should not be allowed. Im rating this as a 2 star only because i believe customer etiquette is an important part of an establishment. Your reception is the first impression.
It’s about health issues why I decided to go back to the gym: - high cholesterol - Hypertension - Shoulder pain that triggered migraines - joint pain - Back pain - Stress But now, I can confidently say that I feel so much better. Randomly choosing Coach Eric as my PT is a blessing for me. I never thought that having a PT is an advantage especially someone like me who has health problems. In addition to that, Coach Eric is very professional. Every training session is hard for me but my coach motivates and pushes me beyond my limit. Transforming myself from obesity to fit in just 4 months is not easy. I put a lot of hard work, discipline and consistency. I gave my full trust to Coach Eric and I have been given good results. Thank you Coach Eric Miranda!
For the longest time my passion was and will be running. And then I came across an amazing talented and good at what he does- it’s Eric. When I met Eric at GoodLife I knew then and there that he is a good motivator. In 2 months I achieved results which I would not achieve if it wasn’t for Eric. It’s amazing how he believes in me and gave me lots of motivation to reach a goal I’m so proud of. On October 2, 2022 I ran my first 5 km race for breast cancer awareness at Hawrelak park. I reach my goal less than expected l-36 minutes. I am grateful to Eric as he help me reach my goal. He was beside me all the way until the finish line as a Personal trainer and motivator. I could not gotten where I am today if it wasn’t for him. He is the BEST. Thank you so much Eric!
Went to a spin class which was lead by Hamzeh today and it was a 12/10 experience. He is so approachable, encouraging and friendly. I loved how he helped me set up my bike as it was my very first spin class and explained why’s behind the the handle and seat placements. After the class I left feeling excited about when I can come back again to such a great workout. Whenever it works in my schedule I will definitely be back for another class with him. On another note, I am a little sad to see that the company is shifting the classes to Monday and Wednesday evenings as this won’t fit in my schedule until fall. I wish the company would consider doing one evening and one morning shift each week for this class. Preferably Wednesday mornings work best for me.
I started my fitness journey 4 months ago and I wanted to build muscle and be stronger. When I met Eric, he helped me understand that my goal was two parts- lose fat, build muscle and then bulk up. I am beyond grateful to have him as my Personal Trainer. I have lost over 15 pounds, and all this is while gaining muscle, strength, agility and working with my posture and previous injuries. Eric is an asset to Goodlife, his experience, knowledge and how he understands the human body and how it functions is phenomenal! He holds me accountable every single day, the personal attention to my daily fitness goals keeps me in check! I am leaner now and have never been so motivated before. Onwards and upwards now! Let me start with saying that I have been a member since this location has opened. I took a 2 yr break and recently returned and I was shocked to see that there haven't been any changes, upgrades or any new equipment. There are around 20 treadmills on the main floor alone and at most 30% of those are in use during peak hours. Poor use of space and lack of strength equipment. Check your competitors to see the various chest and back row machines available. The free weight area is overcrowded due to your lack of equipment . If I did not live 5 minutes away I would happily go elsewhere. Also likother comments staff is too busy chatting rather than doing upkeep. False advertising in saying 24 hours
Time for expansion, already. Excellent equipment and a good layout but it needs more room to support this expanding suburban area demographic. Great staff, and the place is kept very clean. Child care could be more readily available instead of two days a week. My biggest concern is there is a "personal trainer only" area which we as members are not allowed in. And yet somehow the trainers are allowed to set up a "burpee" session and take over the entire turf zone. Not cool. If your letting trainers use public equipment than it's time to expand or allow members to use the personal training area. The shoe room is WAY too small, and is a surprising disappointment.
Over the last 12 years I have been to a variety of gyms throughout Edmonton. The Granville location being my favourite. What makes this gym the best would have to be the authentic and friendly staff and the members who are there to work hard and not just show-face. The staff are quick to listen and act upon members concerns and the facility is always clean. They have very knowledgeable personal trainers, tanning beds for friends who want to be orange and if you have kids a child minding space which is great. They have virtual classes which are fun, as well as many fitness instructors who really make working out a fun community activity.
This gym is horrible. They do not clean anything. Had a shower one day and there was gum and garbage in the shower on the floor, came in the next day and it was still there. Looks like black mold growing on shower walls. My gym bag is full of hair and dust everytime I put my shoes inside my bag. Obviously they don't vacuum the floors or clean the locker rooms. The front counter staff are always talking to their friends when you come in, and go out and barley acknowledge you. Cleaning lady has thrown out my water bottle while I am using equipment numerous times. Just overall a really dissatisfied feeling from this gym.
It was my first time visiting goodlife fitness. And I am not planning to come back here. Nothing wrong with the facility. But when I was taking a break while doing cable row, one the the personal trainer who names Wayne ruined my experience here: I am only taking a one minute break( maybe a little bit longer) and swapping my phone. This trainer just came to me with a angled bar started to change the bar I was using. I said" I'm still using it." Then, he said "since you are not using the cable and swapping your phone, let my client do some reps." This was so rude. I will not recommend any friend to visit this facility.
Teen Fitness, in theory, sounds like a great idea: helping the community, promoting youth exercise, and potentially gaining financial incentives if the teenagers opt to pay for a membership. However, in reality, it turns out to be quite negative. The already busy and crowded gym becomes even busier with large groups of teens who are not actually working out but rather occupying space around the free weights and machines. The gym starts to feel more like a daycare with constant screaming and roughhousing in the locker room. Unfortunately, this program diminishes the experience of paying members.
Horrible! Don’t brother with this place. It takes forever to fix the one machine everybody is using, never seen a place where fixing one machine takes 3 weeks! And management don’t seem to give a f. And internet is like dial up. I signed up because it’s few kms from my house but defiantly going back to LA fitness where they actually care! Absolutely useless, look at the management comments and you will understand how terrible it’s being run. I have to go super early to workout otherwise there is a bunch of kids hogging the machines and good luck to finish a workout!
GoodLife Fitness on West Granville is a clean and well-maintained gym. I have been working out there for a month now, and I have to say, the gym members are some of the friendliest people I have met. The staff is always available to help with any questions or concerns, and the equipment is in excellent condition. The gym offers a wide range of programs and services, including personal training and group fitness classes, to help you achieve your fitness goals. Overall, GoodLife Fitness on West Granville is a fantastic gym that I highly recommend.
Really enjoying my time with GoodLife! Generally, the gym is really clean and equipment is rarely broken. The space is logically set up and lots of variety for equipment, although it can get pretty busy at times. The staff are very nice, but not all of them are very outgoing and will often be gathered around the desk talking amongst themselves instead of greeting guests... it doesn't really effect my visit since I'm there to focus on myself, but it would be nice to have a more welcoming atmosphere. Overall, I'm really happy to be a member!
I ´been a member for few years and I am there almost everyday because of the classes at this location. Instructors are friendly, amazing, and provide a great workout. I will recommend the energetic and engaging group class provided by Erin in Body Pump and Body Attack, Hamzeh and Natalie in RPM, Marisa and Savana in Body Combat. If you are looking for a fun class, I will recommend A happy hour in Zumba class provided by Daniela. Most of the front desk staff are friendly and welcoming. I am a happy member of Goodlife West Granville.
This is the best gym I've ever tried out! It's a beautiful, large and brand new, polished building nested on Winterburn road in the West end. You can't miss a gym day when it's conveniently located beside Costco when you grab groceries or taking a quick workout before heading to dinner out at River Cree. The staff are warm and friendly and there's a nice interior with brand new equipment and machines. My favorite thing was the free group fitness classes! There's a large variety, and the instructors were amazing! 10/10 from me :)
Extremely small club for being brand new, but all of the equipment is new and well maintained. Parking lot/exit roads are a pain to get out of during rush hour, but this is Developer/Edmonton's fault not the clubs. Staff are friendly and nice, manager is great. Free weight area is very busy from 4-10pm so it can be difficult to get equipment. They just installed a new platform with rubber weights. Great for Olympic lifts and deadlifts. However, will mostly be used by the Personal Trainers showing people how to 3/4 squat...
I did a week free trial here and I LOVED it! I turned up at 4am and was still welcomed in by a friendly member of staff. The changing rooms were pristine and the showers actually had shampoo and conditioner (pet peeve of mine is having to carry them to the gym with me for fear of bag explosions). The open fitness area (the bit that looks like turf) is fantastic - I built my own agility circuit there with all the equipment. When I sign up for a gym in a couple of months, it's definitely going to be this one.
Nice staff and usually very well kept. A few gripes I have with this location is that there is not as much equipment as other locations in town, as well, the personal training staff will frequently take up the entirety of the turf zone with their clients (which is out of the personal training area). This takes away a large area for training even though we're all paying for access to it. Wouldn't be a huge issue if I didn't get kicked out of the PT area when there aren't even any personal trainers around.
Updating my review of this gym. Staff are still amazing, but the gym itself has gone downhill. Claiming state of the art equipment when you never have more then half the stair masters working at ANY location is absurd. There isn’t any new or innovative equipment ever brought in and since COVID none of the child care at any ANY locations has opened back up. I’m paying the same, if not more for less and less as time goes on. It’s frustrating because Goodlife came in with a bang and their clubs are nice.
This is one of GoodLife's newest facilities, and it's gorgeous. They invest in an Eleiko SVR platform, which means that you're not only allowed to drop your weights, but it's not going to annoy anyone because it's a high-end platform allowing for incredibly quiet drops. That aside, they have their standard equipment, and a decent functional/turf (actually just smooth carpet) area. Only downside is that they have blue lights above the dumbbell section, which are kind of sleep-inducing. Great facility.
I really love this gym, the location, and the staff. West Granville staff and management have always been accommodating. I have been going here since it opened. My favorite part is the group training sessions, and our personal trainer, Wayne! He is energetic, cares about his clients, trains with expertise and consistently checks that the weight we are using is safe. The workouts are muscle defined and focused and you will feel sore the next day. I highly recommend him for training sessions!
I’ve had the pleasure of training with Eric Miranda for the past 6 months, and am feeling better than I have in the last 10 years. He’s been an excellent motivator and coach, offers great nutritional advice, and helped me overcome old injuries that often got me derailed when trying to start routines in the past. I lost 25 pounds and 5% body fat in those first six months, and he’s been such a crucial part of my fitness journey I just signed up for another 6 months. Would highly recommend!
My favorite gym in Edmonton. Not only are the staff so friendly, welcoming and professional. The crowd at this gym is for everyone, and because of that, its a comfortable environment for people who are new to the gym. The personal trainers are constantly leveling up and taking courses to offer their clients the most robust and up-to-date knowledge. You can tell they are truly passionate about their careers. The facility is always clean and the equipment is modern and well maintained.
I have been coming to this gym since it opened, end ofJanuary 2017. I attended nearly everyday for the year. The staff are very friendly and helpful if needed. This gym is 90% on point. The change rooms and bathrooms are always very clean. I appreciate the cleanliness very much. One HUGE issue I have is the sun shines directly into my face when I’m on the treadmill. Please purchase some shades for the windows in that area. Other than that one issue, it’s a great place to work out.
Most of the front desk staff are friendly, but the main reason I go to Goodlife West Granville is because of Dany's zumba classes, they are amazing! Dany's classes never feel like a workout, more like a dance party, and always leave feeling refreshed and revived. Dany does a great job of motivating the class, getting people participating, having fun, and feeling a sense of belonging to the Zumba community, which keeps me coming back each class. Highly recommended!!
I love the team training at this gym. This is the first time ever that I’ve looked forward to getting up to work out. My daughter and sister and I train with Wayne. There isn’t one day that we don’t laugh till our stomachS hurt. He is skilled with exercises for each of our needs within the same group session. He takes such great care of us! As like a friend says. Welcome to Wayne’s World! We love it so much we attend 3 days a week. Thanks GoodLife and thanks Wayne!
Harlan, one of the personal trainers, has been exceptional in helping me get the most out of my gym time. He has clear explanations, clear goals for me, and is great at motivating me to do better, and to be better than I was yesterday. I’m impressed by the whole staff at this GoodLife gym, including Brittney the training manager, and Megan. Everyone is ready to answer even the dumbest questions, and to make sure you get what you want and need out of your workout,
For the most part, this facility is clean and well maintained. If you are into machines and use a wide variety, you may be a bit disappointed in either the lack of availability when the gym gets busy, or your selection. For example, they have specific machines that can only be found in their personal training area, but not in the general workout space. Doesn't make sense. Overall their staff and classes are great. Excellent mix of age groups and fitness levels.
After only being there a month almost daily it's a good atmosphere certain politics they need to leave out and equipment is severe upgrade such as Bluetooth and phone charging. It'd be absolutely awesome if there was a tablet type screen on a treadmill and you can Bluetooth to your device while you're walking. The massage chairs need upgrading. The showers need to be upgraded as there's barely any pressure and the heads are falling apart.
I have worked out at plenty of GoodLife gyms in Toronto and now Edmonton, this location I find has the most friendly staff at front desk and has by far the best Staff in their jump room (childcare) I feel 100% comfortable dropping my 5 month old off with any of the girls there and they are all friendly and professional. The gym is always clean and the tanning rooms are also. Highly recommend this location/gym over the rest!:)
Clean, good equipment and service. I have not been a big fan of mega fitness clubs cause they are poorly ran, high pressure sales and hire cappy staff. For years I had gone to local owned and ran fitness joints, I thought I would give this one a try. This one is paying attention to the details. It is a good facility that is catering to the details, they have help when you need it and will leave you alone when you don't.
Gym was awesome before covid , 24 hours and suited my schedule. The club is allowing a freeze on accounts, so make sure you call or else you will end up paying and you won’t get the money back. I just paid 50 that they would not reverse for having never entered the club for July. My recommendation is workout outside or at home instead of having to pay someone else your hard earned cash for staying home.
I am really blessed to have you Eric Jr. Miranda as a professional trainer who love his duty and work his for clients good health with honesty & dedication! He is very flexible & helpful who had adjusted my training schedule several occasions because I work out of town. I will continue training with him and I hope I will get rid of my BP pills one day…..which will be a my great achievement at this age!
It's a nice gym, I'm super excited that they are back to being open 24Hhrs. My only complaint is that the Machines are showing alot of wear and tear (benches have cracks/tears in fabric as well as most of the equipment in the 20 minute circuit area). They don't seem keen on fixing the upholstery properly/replacing it. However its still a great place to workout, staff are really friendly and welcoming.
I tried to join this gym. A employee booked me for a time slot that she wasn't working. I was let in and told I'd get a call to go back. I waited 3 weeks and no one called. They had no problem taking my money including an extra month because I cancelled the membership they never actually gave me. Any monopoly becomes self entitled. Join a competitor or buy a buy a bowflex.
The fitness manager Kelvin helped me pick the right trainer for my fitness goals. Ryan has been great in helping me achieve these goals. Highly recommend personal training at this gym!! But the equipment could really use an update- I hate using the squeaky equipment, and all the benches need to be re-upholstered. 5 stars for the people, 2 stars for the equipment.
Excellent facility - plenty of weights and equipment Lives up to it's review rating. Clean, well organized. Friendly staff. First time visiting the location (business trip to Edmonton). Good amount of free weights. Surprised in fact to see Olympic weightlifting equipment (plates and rack). Plus four squat racks. Definitely would come back if I was in the area.
Staff is amazing! But the gym is so small with limited equipment.. so when it gets really busy i find myself searching for other workouts to do either around the gym or search some up on my phone. There’s not much variety in equipment or machines - that’s the main struggles. People are nice & almost everyone cleans up and sprays down their area after use :)
I recently joined and I was really impressed. It was clean and had a lot of equipment to choose from. The staff was really nice and helpful too. They had a variety of classes too. Plus, the gym was really big on safety and had hand sanitizer stations everywhere. I definitely recommend this gym if you're looking for a clean and friendly workout environment.
Gym is ok but very lazy staff who do not maintain paper towels despensors or clean equipment. Most of the staff tend to hang out at front desk socializing, in many cases do not even acknowledge members walking in or out. I've been to other locations and the staff are not like this. I did find the manager to be the hardest working and best by far.
One of the better gyms I've been in. Great equipment, you always get a "hello", ",have a great workout" and "see you, have a great day" from the staff. Also very clean and great lighting. Just don't go there between 5PM to 9PM if you don't have too as it's way too crowded which is why it doesn't get a 5th star. I highly recommend this location!!
Nice new clean gym. Problem is when it hits peak times, obviously expect wait times for equipment. And long wait times. If you can be flexible with what you’re training, you’ll have no problem. If you have a strict set work out plan, make sure you go when it’s not as busy. Hopefully if the high numbers continue, they’ll invest in expanding.
Horrible. The staff is lazy and incompetent. While there on weekends it is impossible to find staff. Only way to get their attention is by phoning the gym, and they magically appear from hiding in the offices. Bathroom downstairs is flooding and they do nothing about it besides be half asleep at the front. Unsanitary and unprofessional.
Men's lockers always contain hair and dirt/mud from outdoor shoes. It's getting worse with the increase in members. Please clean your lockers and remove the hair. It's really gross. No one wants to bring that home with them. It appears the concern with the cleanliness of this gym is a common topic among these reviews.
Love this gym, the location, and the staff. I have been going here since it opened. My favorite part is the group training sessions, and my personal trainer, Wayne! He is energetic, cares about his clients, and wants to meet the needs and expectations of all of his clients. Highly recommend him for training sessions!
This review for Jordan. He is a wonderful trainer and know his stuff. Not only he helped me to recover from my previous injury , but also helped to gain confidence back that I can do it. So, if anyone here is confused while choosing a trainer, I would say give him a chance and you won’t regret it.
It's a great gym. Atmosphere is amazing and the other people in this gym are also very friendly. We all have had experience going to a gym and there's always rude groups of people. Can't recall having an experience at GoodLife like that and I've been a regular since they opened, a few years back.
The equipment getting run down and fixed with ducktape. Feeling a bit getto here at this location. The equipment is not high-end, the water fountains are gross and not to mention the water barely comes out of the fountain you basically have to put your mouth close to the germs in the fountain.
Great clean gym. The staff is what makes this location great. Very friendly, helpful and the personal trainers are fantastic and go above and beyond. The staff make it a family feeling comfortable place to go. I moved out of the area and do miss this gym and wish there was one closer to me.
I always enjoy working out at this gym! Sucha positive atmosphere as well as clean and great equipment. The staff is wonderful! And the manager Mo is awesome and always motivates his members. I’m very happy with the facility and always looking forward to my next workout here. …
I have had a great experience at GoodLife Fitness in Granville. The staff are friendly, the gym is clean and when I go in the mornings equipment is readily available. I have a personal trainer Harlan who is awesome and I have achieved great results in the year I have been a member!
I have been an original member ever since the gym opened. I highly recommend the Body Combat class with the instructor Marissa Fernandez. She is excellent. I have been with her since I started here. My health and fitness level has improved immensely because of her leadership.
This location is always bright and clean. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. I have recently started group training, love it!! The groups are small and you get very personalized attention from the trainer. I find the value I am getting for the classes amazing.
Much better now that it is back to 24/7. Can be pretty pushy with the personal training when signing up. Overpriced if you don’t have a discount rate (Movati is same or less price and much nicer). Good for just doing your own thing. Good amount of equipment. Keeps clean.
Great for the most part... my only real complaint is that the men's sauna smells awful and there's a disgusting build up between the bench planks. It really needs a thorough cleaning! I go to Brewery, South Park and Terwillegar as well and no issues with those saunas!
The gym is not bad ! Before Covid it was 24 hours which was awesome for my schedule. I've asked multiple times if they'll ever go back to that time format, never got an answer. I bought my membership solely for accessing the gym 24 hours, going to look elsewhere now.
This gym just opened, So far it's good. It's New, clean, has lots of mat space, lots of equipment, and reasonable priced. It is fairly busy come 6:30 PM but considering it is January also a brand new gym this could thin out a bit in coming months.
Came here today because my normal location is closed. Staff seemed friendly, but the size and quality of machines here is terrible. Only one of every machine and have to wait 10+ minutes for everything. There's much better locations in the city
After trying out several gyms, I can safely say that this is one of the best. The staff are friendly, the equipment is new, and the facility is very clean. The layout of the equipment is also fantastic, which many gyms can't seem to get right!
My wife & I attended an RPM spin session on Monday, instructed by Natalie. She is one of the best and most entertaining instructors I have ever seen in a spin class, and anyone who attends RPM should look for her. The session was excellent!
New facility with exactly what I need. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Ladies locker room is great, and lockers are big enough in size for me to lay my gym bag flat. I have registered for team training - we will see how it goes!
Mo and the entire team at this location are wonderful. They are always smiling and friendly, and if something needs to be done or replaced they get it done. Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes and smiling faces! It goes a long way!
How about you enforce your clean indoor shoes only rule. The floor to the change rooms is always wet from people not changing they’re shoes. Other gyms will charge people for not changing footwear. Maybe think about doing the same
I have been to various other gyms around the city. World health, Golds, And Spa Lady. The staff are always smiling and the facility is bright and clean. it is maintained very well. The atmosphere is more inviting than most gyms.
Nice gym. Not too busy when I’ve gone. They offer a decent number of group classes, but for some reason they hardly get used (at least according to their app). No problems with cleanliness like others have mentioned before.
Just signed up! You are met with smiling staff members. They are eager and extremely knowledgeable at their jobs. They made me feel extremely comfortable!! If I were to compare the first meet and greet this place is #1!
This is the smallest Goodlife Gym. Hardly find vacant machine or a dumbell bench. Massage chairs are too old and not comfy at all. Get rid of turf zone barely used and fill more machine instead. Please upgrade.
Amazing location! Rubar, Roxar and a few other ladies are very friendly, helpful, and always make sure you’re having a good workout. Love the lit-up free weight rack, very nice touch, especially at night.
Friendly staff who are willing to help you achieve your fitness. They are not judgmental and have a positive outlooks on fitness! The equipment in good shape and seems to be well maintained.
This gym is dirty they need to clean the equipment and the bathrooms. there's never any paper towels nobody wipes down the equipment needs to be clean needs to improve big time
Limo is such a gem! Absolute sweetheart, so kind whenever I have any silly questions or anything like that. Makes it feel so much less intimidating. Huge thanks to her
One of my home gyms for a couple years! Never too busy, equipment is kept up, excellent location for west, and Trish the GM is super nice and welcoming! Thank you.
Good gym with stretching area, HIIT section, all the cardio, all the free weights. Regular weight machines. Large change rooms and private showers.
Very approachable staff. They always greet you with a smile. The gym is very tidy and organized. Looking forward to be open 24 hours again
It’s a mediocre gym with mediocre people. Just waiting for a gym that sets themselves apart from the other. Not worth the price though.
Many machines not functioning and don't have a tag even after notifying staff. Friendly staff and clean location.
