I enjoyed my time at this gym, but there are a few reasons I'm giving 3 stars. For starters, it's a gym in Hamilton. It's packed on weekday evenings. The fact that so many reviews complain about this should be irrelevant. What do you expect? Lol. I knew this was going to be the case when signing up. What I didn't expect was people hogging machines for an hour at a time. I choose to do free weight exercises most of the time anyways, but when the 2-4 machines a week I actually like to use are being hogged for the duration of my time at the gym, I get fed up. The amount of times I watched a female take the smith machine for her entire workout, in the Women's Only section (where there is only one of these machines!) was very frustrating! You can do variations of those workouts on a bench, or anywhere else in the gym without stealing a highly-used machine for over an hour. Staff really should be monitoring this, and advising clients to mind the space when the gym is busy. As for the facility, everything is in good shape and the place smells clean and IS clean. Hats off to the cleaning staff. The staff that I interacted with on a regular basis were always kind, made me laugh, and were enjoyable to be around. Matt was the associate who gave my tour when I signed up, and I saw him most days of the week when I was there. He was very polite and informative, and always made my friends feel welcomed when I brought guests with me. He should be commended for having such a great attitude. I also signed up for Personal Training when I started here, because I was freshly new to the gym. I did 7 workout sessions as part of my sign-up package, with a fairly new trainer to the gym, Olga. A refugee from Ukraine, Olga is an excellent addition to this GoodLife. I loved my sessions with her. She was funny, knowledgeable, and held me accountable. We were both upset when I couldn't afford to continue training with her long-term. But I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to sign up with a PT at this facility. She set me up to succeed in my fitness journey. I stayed with this gym for 2 months before deciding to leave (due to busyness, how far away it is from home for me, and the PRICE is astronomical). I have moved to a gym closer to home which is cheaper and much quieter, but there are things I miss about GoodLife. Also, anyone complaining about being charged another month after cancellation, clearly didn't read their membership agreement when they signed up. Lol. I would still absolutely recommend this gym to a friend, and all of the friends who joined me here for a workout enjoyed themselves as well. Just be cautious of the price, and expect it to be busy!
Extremely rude customer experience (Nicole) - I decided to join GoodLife fitness at the upper Ottawa and stone church location in Hamilton as i thought it was one of the better ones in the area. So, I got myself enrolled for no commitment membership with upfront fees of $179 and soon my husband and daughter wanted to join too. My daughter wanted to join all women club so I took her to limebridge location. After inquiring about the available options they suggested me that I should upgrade my current membership to ultimate membership in order to get a better deal. I was a bit skeptical with the upgrade as I had to pay a premium fee, and if my family members wanted to take a break or cancel the membership in future, would there be some additional fees/penalties. The lady who was helping me in registering membership said that she wanted to confirm this clause and came back after a few minutes and said there won’t be any fees/deductions for upgrading and downgrading the membership since you are taking ultimate membership. So after almost a year, I decided to freeze my daughter and husband’s membership as they were not regular to the gym and I did that. So far it was all good until I inquired about canceling my daughter’s membership and asked them how to go about it. The girl at the counter, Nicole (the most unprofessional team member at this GoodLife stone church branch) told me that first I have to make the my daughter's memberships active and pay monthly fees to cancel my daughter's membership and to downgrade my membership to one location member I have to pay another $50. I politely asked her if she could reconfirm the clause as I vaguely remembered about being told that there would be no fees for canceling/downgrading the membership. I got a rude response saying “I have no clue about that, you would have signed the agreement”. I was a bit confused so I said if she could pull up the agreement which I had signed to which she abruptly responds “all agreements can be found online” and just left the counter. She was not at all interested in clarifying a few things, which I am assuming is her job. She sent another guy from her team to get my matter sorted out. I felt so disrespectful by this time that I decided to cancel my membership too along with the other two memberships of my family members. Never again to this gym ever. This is the kind of unprofessional service one gets after paying a high gym membership fee.
Excellent gym. I have been going to this location since October 2019 for rehabilitation. Stone Church has a vast array of services...something for everyone ...very considerate staff and members. The care of equipment which is very well spaced and the change rooms are maintained impeccably here. Particularly impressive is the great accessibility it gives for people like myself with disabilities. My rehab journey is quite a story....another story to tell another time. I am deeply grateful to the General Manager, Kyle, for his pivotal role in helping me recently with bridging membership so I could have access while waiting for insurance decisions to come through. He took time, more than I can count, to give me extra encouragement in my progress with my personal training during my recovery. He always goes beyond the distance, very welcoming to all members and treats his staff and all of us who come to the gym with kindness and humour. Kyle is definitely an AMBASSADOR manager who exemplifies the values of Good Life to the nth degree. His actions and caring character puts this Stone Church location as the model for others to follow. Thank you so much Kyle for being there and your great leadership. The personal training services at Stone Church are underrated. The quality is top shelf. I enjoyed having personal training here immensely from October 2019 to Jan 2020 with Scott Christian. He is an extremely experienced personal trainer, (10 years is amazing), passionate about helping people daily and has a wonderful personality...makes everything feel easier. Scott is the GURU...KING KONG of personal training. Many steps ahead of any trainer I have ever had or known. He guided me through many physical challenges, always patient and made training fun. He introduced me to the mind-muscle connection every chance he could lol. I highly recommend Scott as the choice for anyone who requires rehabiliation and variety in their fitness goals. He has it all. I will miss you Scott. A very big thank you for the ride in my fitness journey.
I was extremely disappointed today with visiting this club. The staff at the front are completely rude and disrespectful and have 0 regard for members. They do not know basic customer service approach to even say hello to members. Most specifically Vina. Her attitude and approach in speaking with me was rude and uncalled for. It felt as if she hates what she does and she is forced to be at front. No smile, no hello, completely ignoring people as they walk in. This behaviour as such is completely unacceptable especially if you work front desk. Moreover, I asked for an extra towel, as I have towel service on my account that I pay for. And she said that she will not be giving me one? And did not explain the reason behind it. Overall horrible interaction with someone who’s supposedly to be caring for customers and is trained to speak with customers. I expressed my concern and asked for a manager, Joey came up to me and said there’s no manager is in today, and instead of deescalating situation, speaks even more rudely, after I told her that she needs to care and explain and greet customers because that’s basics of her job I pay $60 a month and expect at least a hello when I walk in. People come to the gym to destress and meditate, it should be a welcoming respectful environment for everyone. But it’s rather toxic. Throughout my workout I saw that she keeps using her cell phone. And talking with the staff about me while they all stood there and looked at me. I don’t know when it was okay to bully members? At a place where I thought I’m safe and not judged for raising concerns….truly disgusting. I am fed up with how GoodLife fitness staff treat members at this location. And moving forward will not be visiting this location and you shouldn’t either if you don’t want to ruin your mood and be treated like garbage.
The gym changed its hours to 24/7. I was really looking forward to that because I'm a shift worker. I only use the pool at the moment. Saturday, I got there at about 11:40 p.m., just got changed and got into the pool, only to be told by the cleaner that it was time to clean. One of them said it's their usual time between 11 and midnight, but they were starting a bit late. The counter staff didn't mention that the pool was being cleaned when I arrived and there was no sign posted. There was another person who waited with me until the pool opened. In total, there were 7 people in the pool after it opened up after cleaning. That means 7 people had to wait? They told me Sunday was their big maintenance day, so I didn't go to the pool. Monday, there were 3 people in the pool at 11:45 p.m. and I wasn't allowed to enter. This time I was told by the cleaner that their maintenance time is 12 to 1 a.m.. I went home and returned at 1 a.m. only to be told that the cleaner needed another half hour. So, a 1 hour workout took 3 hours. That just doesn't work for me. If this company is interested in attracting club members who would use the spa later at night, then this isn't the best way to go about it. It would be way better if the spa stayed open while they mopped the floors, or if not possible, then if it was cleaned at a later time. The pool area also includes the hot tub and cold tub, making 3 amenities off limits. So, if you plan on using the spa at this time, make sure that you discuss it with a staff member before joining the club, and get all the information you need before paying and being disappointed. If you're wondering, the gym floor on Saturday still had a decent amount of people, and on Monday, there were a handful.
For my first time having a personal trainer, I was very impressed with how thorough and committed my trainer was. Adam has been my trainer for the 6 week rapid burn program and has been absolutely incredible! He has helped me so much with introducing me to weight training which was something I was very nervous to try. He has taught me so much not just on fitness, but in numerous aspects of health given his extensive background in anatomy, physiology and nutrition. As a massage therapy student, I found our sessions enjoyable because we were able to exchange our knowledge of anatomy and physiology with each other. He also showed me multiple modifications of home care exercises and stretches that I can use to help my future clients once I get into practice. It was also fun to have someone pop quiz me on muscle anatomy like I was back in school :P I have definitely noticed a big change in my body from this program with him to guide me. I have been able to gain muscle and maintain it as well as become more educated on how to make appropriate workout plans for myself. He also kept me on track with my nutrition during the sessions by keeping a very organized nutrition log to show how I can improve and reach my goals. I look forward to hopefully having more sessions with him in the future. If you are looking for a good trainer who knows what they are talking about and is very devoted, Adam is the trainer you are looking for!
I have been working out at goodlife fitness for over 9 years at several locations but the upper Ottawa location is the worst, it's always parked, people just use the equipments for a very long period of time without considering that there are limited equip for the vast majority the employees and managers are not doing anything about this, they should have signs to remind people to consider others who may want to use the equipments, I noticed some people on an equipment for over 45 minutes even professional body builders do not spend that long on an equip, in all, upper James is the best, very respectful people, considerate, and do not spend a very long time working out on a single equip. It's hard for me to recommend anyone to this location, the employees are responsible and respectful but the managers need to set a standard. I have been to busier locations like bramelea city centre, McLaughlin n main street in brampton people do not spend forever on the machines. It's so sad this location is closer to me but I have to drive all the way to the upper James location. It wasn't like this when it newly opened. The managers at this location should try and set a standard for members in the usage and to be considerate to others. They just keep singing on new members without considering the amount of equipments and it's capacity. Goodlife is a good brand n have proven it's efficiency but this location is the worst ever
Really sad to see that GoodLife is adopting the same self destructive model that almost all gyms follow: Sign up as many customers as possible under the assumption that they all don't wish to workout at the same time. This model works up until the point it doesn't and what you're left with is a gym that begins to get busy at 5am and remains busy (albeit with short waves of less traffic) throughout the entire day making it seemingly impossible to find the right time to workout. The front desk can't be relied on for help since calling in to double check the capacity is futile as you'll always get the same "Not TOO busy" style answer. The biggest shame is that GoodLife is (For the most part) a respected brand and with good reason. 24 hours on most days, very clean facility with almost always perfect condition equipment, friendly staff and an overall welcoming environment. Maybe this is an isolated incident with this location only; however, it stands to reason that even with this overcrowding problem being clear as day and STILL seeing trainers giving tours to potentially new customers, switching gyms will regretfully soon be on my to-do list. I don't expect the staff to take this review seriously; however, if I can stop even one person from making the mistake of coming to a good gym with a bad model, this review will have done its job.
I’m not really the type of person to leave reviews but I just can’t stand it anymore. This gym has become disgusting when it come to cleaning the photos are just one day at the gym, I have seen puke in the cold plunge, blood on the walls, the needle garbage overflowing, hair in the showers, empty bottles and towels everywhere in the change room, the sauna is absolutely disgusting and the list goes on. Another issue with this gym is the mentality unstable people inside the gym doing things that make other people very uncomfortable…some spending 6-14 hours straight without leaving ….walking around screaming being rude to older women and walking around the change room naked while flexing in the mirrors and doing rude things in the sauna. The management fan frown on this review and remove me from the gym if I can’t voice my opinion I’m fine with it. This gym needs attention asap I would NOT suggest anyone to join this gym, it’s sad, the gym should be a place that pays attention to hygiene, especially after Covid, and to be aware of what is happening inside the gym at all times instead of standing behind the front desk, talking every minute of the day.
Definitely the cleanest, most well equipped, most well maintained and friendliest Fitness Facility I have ever had the pleasure of training in. The equipment is absolutely state of the art. The pool, sauna, hot tub and cold plunge are extremely clean, constantly monitored and maintained to ensure they are available to the members and not "down for maintenance" as is the case with most other clubs. The equipment is immediately repaired if required and is closely monitored to ensure it is in excellent working order. A very inclusive environment is the best way to describe the vibe or feel to this gym. Staff and fellow members are encouraging and offer a non-intimidating environment for all members. The child minding facility is second to none. The well trained staff take great care of the children and allow the parents a few hours of much needed time alone. I would HIGHLY recommend this incredible Fitness Facility to anyone looking to join a gym or upgrade to a nicer, better equipped and cleaner gym.
The facility itself is good. HOWEVER…typically the overhead music is so loud I can’t enjoy my own music (AirPods). My biggest complaint is the women’s change room/showers/bathroom area. It’s DISGUSTING. I can’t get over what pigs women can be. Unflushed toilets, toilet paper all over the stall floor, water all over the counter, towels left on the benches and inside the lockers instead of dropping them into the hamper that’s provided, hair and used tissues left on the counter in the change room area. Garbage left in the shower stalls; today I even saw a tampon left on the shelf! Where’s the staff to routinely check the facilities and tend to these things?? There’s enough of them standing and talking at the front desk! Goodlife puts out messages on their tv screens touting how they’re dedicated to providing a clean environment. Well, this location seriously needs to back this up.
Good Morning Everyone, this post is for anyone thinking about being a member of this location. DO IT!!! Let me tell you the reality. When it comes to both courtesy and professionalism, their General Manager KYLE is both knowledgeable but also helpful. The girls at the FRONT DESK lead by CHRISTIE are kind, courtesy, friendly and best yet - THEY ASK IF THEY CAN BE OF SERVICE!! That brings me to the thread that makes this needle work. You might know him as CARMEN. I know of his efforts and believe me, I have NEVER SEEN anyone so precise in my life. Carmen, is the one that makes THIS PLACE SHINE!! He is MR CLEANER. He is the guy that makes this place spotless and makes your stay inviting. I'd personally would like to thank each and every employee for the way I get treated. If you allow me to remain a member of GOOD LIFE. KEEP UP YOUR SUPERB JOB - You GUYS and GIRLS - ROCK!!!!!
I had a great experience with GoodLife Stonechurch. The ASM Madison was extremely knowledgeable and genuine. She took the time to understand my wants and needs to ensure I had the best package for my lifestyle. Although I was not interested in signing up for a personal trainer, she offered a free 1 hour session to get me started on my fitness journey. Rachel was the trainer I met with. She was super motivating, and patient as we figured out what work outs would work best for my body and areas I wanted to work on. Although I did not sign up for more sessions, Rachel scheduled a check in appointment to follow my progress. I did not feel pressured to sign up for training at all. The entire team made me feel welcome and that they genuinely cared about the success of their clients. Thank you Madison and Rachel for your support and motivation!
By far the worst Goodlife in the Hamilton area. The Staff are rude and not trained properly. They are too busy chatting with each than helping out members. No manager was on duty to take my complaint in person at 6pm on a Thursday at a 24 hour gym?? I am a regular user of the tanning beds. There is a 30 minute window to book a spot. I called ahead to book my spot and the gentleman I spoke with booked me in for 6 so that it would be available for me when I finished a class at 6:15. The girl at the desk gave my spot away and was incredibly rude to me. What is the point of booking a 30 minute tanning spot? I will not be back to this gym, it should be a safe space for people to work out and not be treated so poorly. This was not the first time the front desk staff has given me attitude or messed up my tanning appointment.
The gym itself is great, equipment is tip top and huge selection. Staff is dog water though .. well just night shift staff in my experience. There's a new girl that started in February or so and she cleans up regularly but on multiple occasions I've walked in to the sight of this girl straight up tongue kissing her boyfriend while he sits behind the desk with her and the other guy with the dusty afro (he cut it recently and it looks fresh now) doesn't do anything til about 330-4am and then begins to finally clean before morning shift comes in. Oh and both of them be letting people in for free and giving out towels like it's nobody's business. I mean, yeah, I enjoy towel service without paying for it but it's still not fair to the people that do. I pray that Upper James and Queenston go back to being 24hrs.
The Gym its self is very big and well spaced out. Equipment is new and usually always in working order. Hamilton is pretty limited when it comes to gyms. That being said this location is probably the nicest and biggest gym location in the city. However because of that it gets very busy especially between the hours of 4pm-9pm. When it's that busy it can be hard to get a good workout in. I have heard that the gym wasn't always the cleanest. I have been a member for the last 3 months and have not found that to be the case. I always see people cleaning. The ONLY thing I don't see cleaned are the tanning booths. Normally this would be the staff's job but I have never seen them do it. So if you use them make sure you give it a clean before you hop in. The staff are all very nice and approachable.
I would highly recommend GoodLife fitness stone church to start on your fitness journey. the front desk staff is always so pleasant and welcoming every time you walk in the door. Management is always so open to helping and always very visible on the floor and making sure everyone is having a good time. Sonny and Sam helped me sign me up and set me on the right path. Kyle is an awesome manager he's friendly and he's very easy to approach. The personal trainers are always helping and will go out of their way to make sure your goals are met. Josh and Nirvana help me with my workouts on a daily basis and its so nice to have people around who care about your well being. I would highly recommend this location Its the best club I've ever been too.
I booked a tour a trial pass. While the appointment was confirmed in the morning, the front desk staff could not retrieve my appointment details. Kept me waiting for 15/20 mins and someone finally came to give me a tour which was literally less than a minute. I was just told what exercise was where (I was given zero idea of what goes in to the studio, classes, personal training, pool area, gym protocols). He had no interest of explaining membership, corporate offers or how the trial pass works. I had to ask every single detail on my own. Never seen a gym so not interested for a new member. I did not feel welcome at all. I don’t think I will use the trial. I guess this happens when you have high expectations from so called quality gym.
I went there today after reading the reviews about the place, so I had to see it. First off, the place is HUGE. I went early, so it wasn’t busy, but there are many machines and space for when it’s happening. The front counter personnel were friendly enough, said good morning, and gave me a towel. If I want to chit chat with someone I’ll call my mom. The locker room was fine, lots of complains about the cleanliness. Well there was several towels on the floor it’s not their fault. Last I check most people who go there are adults and can clean up after themselves. It’s not the staffs job to clean up after entitled people who are too lazy to clean up themselves.
Quite busy with a reasonable number of machines. A major problem is the cleanliness of the men's washroom area. Because there can be so much traffic it needs to be monitored more closely. Also, it's the only Goodlife in the area where the water pressure is reduced to a trickle. Not sure why. Update. In the last couple of weeks there has been some improvement. The two left faucets have been replaced and the water pressure has improved. Nothing has changed on the right. However, the condition of the locker room/washrooms remain abysmal. I challenge the owner to visit around 9:30 a.m over a period of time. It just needs more frequent cleaning.
I’ve been giving this club $150/month for almost two years and they wanted to charge me another $100 to enroll my kid. I’m tired of being hosed by Goodlife so I’ll be finding a new gym and cancelling. The prices have skyrocketed over the years and it’s no longer an affordable gym. Response: It wasn’t so much the enrollment fee as much as it was her omission of that fact in our first conversation. It just kind of came up as I was about to sign. She had previously disclosed the biweekly fee but not the enrollment fee. Also, she INSISTED there would NEVER be any club promotions without an enrollment fee even though there have been in the past!
It's a goodlife in a busy area so expect it to be busy during rush hour. I come really early in the morning around 5 so it isn't an issue for me. Good equipment, and staff BUT wth is going on with their water pressure... expect for your show to turn off whenever someone flushes or turns their shower on. I literally tried every stall and it's the same issue so I'm guessing it's their water pump or something. Hopefully it gets fixed cause it'll really give you anxiety when it happens.. well there's also the pool you can probably jump in there if it ever fully stops working but all in all this branch is a decent one.
Best Goodlife location I have ever dealt with. I used to go to the Ancaster location and that place was garbage both gym and management wise, BUT this place is AWESOME. The management and customer service here goes above and beyond, they take the time to listen to you. I've been dealing with Madison the whole time and she has been the best Assistant Manager, and CSR that I have dealt with at Goodlife. She will help you out with whatever you need and knows her team well! Also, if you like the LesMills Classes, Alice Van Ngo is the best. You’ll love her classes and energy. She’ll make you sweat like no tomorrow
I am so happy I joined this gym and to be part of this wonderful environment. I was very skeptical about joining a gym due to having a recent severe injury and not being able to walk fully. But it turn's out this gym is optimal for recovering and rehabilitation with all the amazing amenities. What makes this gym stick out from the others is definitely the staff. I was introduced to Amanda (fitness adviser) and she gave me the confidence and motivation to begin my journey here and fast track my progress to getting my normal life back. I can't wait for my personal training session and couldn't be happier.
I’ve been a member with GoodLife for decades. The Stonechurch location is by far the best fitness facility in Hamilton. The staff, machines, unending selection of weights, pool, sauna, cold tub and hot tubs, this gym has all you need to start or end your day the best possible way. I want to talk about Carmine. Carmine is there every morning, cleaning dusting and sanitizing every inch of this gym. His attention to detail and his friendly smile is outstanding. Highly recommend GoodLife Upper Ottawa and Stonechurch for a great workout, safe and clean environment and overall great experience!
I really would like to take this opportunity to thank Kyle McQuade and his staff for such pleasant experience during the pandemic.. No matter what time I'm I arrive I'm greeted with friendly smiles and encouraging words before I start my workout. Even though the entry process is tiresome and tedious for the staff, they never display frustration, just the same great attitudes. Kyle McQuade has done a fantastic job selecting the right staff for his facility and they are a reflection of the Leadership he displays. Great job team. It's a pleasure to train here each day! Thank you!! Adrian
It says something about a Goodlife that I loathe returning to it from my University's gym because of how much busier it is here, and my schools gym is ***busy*** Gym has solid gear and is kept pretty clean. Not sure what all the complaints about the staff are about, I've literally never had to interact with anyone but the person at the door in hundreds of visits. Unfortunately this really isn't worth the price, you'll be paying crazy amounts per month to wait half an hour for a rack or bench. If you go at 4am then it's the gym for you, I'd look elsewhere otherwise.
Visited Stone church location for the first time after being GoodLife member for more than 2 years, a PT named Aashish was at the reception and was very rude and disrespectful and was making his own rule in terms of bringing a guest along with me for a trial and he mentioned if the guest is not signing up for the membership right away they are not allowed to step in the gym, felt very rude and disrespectful.I stepped out of the building at that very moment and will not be coming back to this location ever again and would possibly cancel my membership altogether.
If you want a no hassle membership purchase come to this location. I walked in and explained I want a month to month membership with no enrolment fee no commitment and that I did not want to hand over my banking info. Within five minutes she had explained my options I chose to pay $85 a month inc tax for Ontario wide access They took my picture handed me a gym bag and a receipt and I was out the door. Other GoodLife locations will tell you this option does not exist yet here I am. So I highly recommend this location for their exceptional customer service.
Was super excited to begin my fitness journey and signed up on the 7th this month, unfortunately I already have had a terrible experience and am not impressed with the staff of the facility. With having bad experiences at different gyms I was very hesitant to join any gym and tonight just added to it. Personally if it wasn't for the training staff I would have canceled due to the unprofessionalism and rudeness of the front desk staff. Not looking forward to continuing this membership but not many options with everything going on nowadays.
Wow, I don’t even know where to begin. My health was worsening , and I was at the highest weight I have ever been in my life. That’s when I decided that I needed someone to push me beyond my limits. Olga, not enough words to thank her, has helped me in my fitness journey . She is knowledgeable and friendly. Love our small talks during mid- workout and she guides you every step of the way. My posture has improved so much. And I went 2 sizes down and feeling confident than ever before:) Thank you Olga, you are amazing ❤️
Was just informed by a staff member that they have discontinued their child care. I was thinking about getting a membership here again but unfortunately I don't think I will be able to now. This location is supposed to be Co-ed and "for Women" and yet they have taken away something that really supported women who have children (obviously, there are a lot of us). Working out is an essential part of our health and well being as moms, and the GoodLife child care was an important part of this. Extremely disspointed.
I had the pleasure of working with Emmely. During my time working with her she was an excellent source of knowledge in fitness. When I reached out to her with any concerns I felt confident in her knowledge and professionalism. She took the time to listen to my concerns and needs getting me on track with my goals. With her help she rebuilt my confidence and she guided me to be my fittest self. Thanks to her support I know I have the tools and mindset I need to maintain a fit lifestyle.
Olga, my trainer, has been exceptionally helpful to me throughout my weight management journey. Just by switching my diet according to her plan, I lost 2 sizes in just over 2 months. She has been relentlessly working to help correct my posture, gain strength in different muscles and manage a mindset to lose weight. She is more of a friend than a trainer to me. I will definitely recommend anybody looking to lose weight and achieve a healthy lifestyle to ask for Olga at this centre.
Extremely dirty changerooms at this facility. GoodLife head office is very unprofessional and showed a complete disregard to members' various concerns. Their inability and unwillingness to quite easily mitigate concerns was appalling. Greedy faceless corporation forgetting its roots so I cancelled my membership after being a member since the beginning. I encourage anyone considering signing up to first *check Reddit or Wiki about this gym that thinks it's too big to ever fail.
This place is home! The staff are great and make you feel like family. The people I get to see daily also give me a boost. The layout of the gym is open and refreshing. The only downfall is Monday and Tuesday from 5pm-9pm you might as well share a dumbbell and a locker with 3 other people cause it's way to busy. There's also turf for some other workouts but the trainers are running "boot camps" on them all the time so its hard to use that space, which we pay for.
I was helped by Kristie, wonderful associate, friendly, patient, and straight to the point. I’m a very busy person, I don’t appreciate when people waste my time... I walked in the club, she showed me around, explained the payment options, I got a membership, I was in and out within 20-30 minutes probably. Definitely recommend this specific branch and their associates. Good facility, decent size swimming pool, large workout area, and most importantly clean!
Anyone who says this place is clean hasn't been in the mens room, it's disgusting! The facility is nice but over the years I've had to change my workout times due to overcrowding and have seen others do the same.. it's now busy even late into the evening.. to the extent that it's affecting my routine, I'm starting to miss days as I can't stay up late enough and they continue accepting way to many new people at this gym.. time to find a new one!
This is the best gym I have ever been to. Everyone there is incredibly friendly. I have had informative and pleasant conversations with the trainers, administrative staff, and yoga instructors. Kyle the manager is an awesome person. Having an entire wall as a window makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere to exercise. The gym and dressing rooms are always kept clean. There is not one thing to complain about the facility or staff.
people are very unhygienic in the spa area, there are several men that come into the spa area not wearing a proper bathing suite, they are wearing underwear, its not 1 its like 7 or 8 of them doing it almost every night.Goodlife needs to put a stop to it. Last night staff came up to them and kick them out. The staff at Goodlife need to be on top of this daily, its really really gross, especially the ones who have stains on their underwear.
By far THE best gym and Goodlife location. I recently had a terrible experience at the Ancaster location and was going to cancel my account. I came in to the Stonechurch location and Kyle was so accommodating, understanding and sweet that I've decided to stay. The overall facility, cleanliness, friendliness and customer service is unmatched. Every location is about the management and I can see why that location does as well as it does.
As a local business owner and as a man who's happy to put my real name and face behind my reviews, this is a great location to workout! I typically come at night and always enjoy great conversations with the night staff! The gym is always cleaner, quieter and more chill at night. The staff do a great job of keeping a friendly atmosphere while staying on top of their duties. I can tell they really care about the clients' wellbeing. :)
Amazing gym. Can't compare to the other gyms around the area. Environment and atmosphere is insanely nice even compared to most goodlife I have been to. Only issue is they are WAY over priced. 5 star which is across the street is literally a quarter of what they charge. It's not even close. If they were closer to 30-35 dollars a month I would understand, but I got quoted 60 plus tax, 800 bucks a year is no joke especially for a gym
I was hesitant to return to the gym after things were opening up. Working out is my passion so needless to say I was back in line at Stonechurch. Within minutes I felt completely satisfied that Kyle and the Staff made our safety top priority! They make sure everyone is respecting the new rules and guidelines and making us feel welcome and sanitized. Thank you Goodlife Stonechurch for making me feel at home once again
I've been training 2x/week with Sara for over a year now. She's a great trainer- she's seen me through knee surgery prep and recovery. I've had trainers in the past not accomodate my chronic injuries/ pain issues and it always left me in a lot of pain and unable to work out properly for weeks at a time. Sara's helped me get stronger than ever without aggravating anything. She always keeps it interesting too!
BEWARE!! This gym is extremely dirty. I joined this gym primarily to use the sauna and pool facilities and it’s so dirty I hardly go. The sauna is broken and only gets upto 74 degrees. The entire facility doesn’t get cleaned properly. This place is screaming for some proper attention and management. I hate to leave bad reviews but hoping this gets someone’s attention and they turn this place around.
Great place. Has a ton of variety (equipment) haven’t tried the classes or pool yet but staff are friendly. Initially started off with a questionable experience with the personal training classes but they fixed it by assigning someone new. The place is kept clean, and I’m always able to get a good workout in even at times when the gym is fairly busy. Would definitely recommend this place to others !
I always look forward to seeing the friendly night staff & hardworking cleaners when I come to workout during the night hrs. This place comes as advertised. no need to wrry about any judgement. We're all friends here. I ALWAYS recommend this gym to anyone who wants to start working out. Thank u Goodlife for hiring the most AMAZING polite staff that makes me feel welcome & appreciated.
Pretty busy location, but it stays open during stat holidays. It is quite clean and well organized. I like the layout there. Also has women’s section, small but has almost everything you need. Besides that they have 2-3 lane pool, sauna, jacuzzi (which I hope was hotter than that) and plunge pool. Pool area doesn’t get very busy which is good otherwise it would be way too small.
Clean environment. Amazing staff. Always feel welcomed when I enter and exit the gym. They are always there to answer all my questions. At first I was sceptical about personal training, but Harjit showed me the basics and in one month I've seen more results than I've ever seen with any of my workouts. I would definitely recommend this gym and specially getting personal training.
Amazing facilities. Most staff members are quite helpful but there are few who are absent minded and there are few who don't really care because they are unaccountable which make it frustrating when you need something. The bathrooms and showers are generally okay but there are days when they are not clean and smell like urine. Don't get me wrong overall I enjoy going there.
Do not sign training contracts without reading the contract, because I learnt the hard way . If you are not able to do the trainings anymore, you will still have to make payments to your training sessions are over , even if you decide to cancel. In which I was told that if I wanted to cancel, I would have to settle my contract.:(four figures that I had to pay lol)$$
Excellent gym. Weights, machines, cardio equipment and services (front desk and trainers) are all awesome. I have been at this gym for 3+ years and will continue coming here. You definitely get what you pay for at this gym. Gets crowded around 5-7 pm monday-wednesday. But I personally love lots of people in the gym. The energy helps me through my toughest workouts.
I'm new to the fitness scene but I was embraced warmly and attended to with care and professionalism from the staff. Sonny helped introduced me to some basic but effective routines and strategies and never once made me feel uncomfortable or out of place as a newcomer. I look forward to going back again and strongly recommend his services to any other newcomers!
I was very fortunate to have Emmely as my trainer. She motivated me to be my personal best. She is very dedicated and attentive. I was pleased that she built workouts that were customized to me. She knew how to reach my limits without injuries. I feel that Emmely genuinely cares about the quality in everything that she does and really cares about her clients.
Love this gym. All the staff are always so kind, even the gym goers are kind. Most importantly absolutely loved my trainer. Olga was so great the last 6 months and I cannot thank her enough. She has not only made me fall in love with the gym, but has also helped me fall in love with myself. I highly recommend Olga if anyone is looking into training!
I joined this Good Life location approximately three months ago and I couldn’t be happier for this decision. It is an amazing gym! Always super clean and has tons of equipment. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. I go straight to the gym after work every weekday and I never have a problem with parking or utilizing all the equipment.
I commute a long way to get to this gym as it's the only 24 hour gym in the area with a pool. I swim at obscure hours as I work shift work. For the second time now I've arrived and the gym is closed?! This isn't a holiday, we are talking a regular Thursday morning. No notice on the door or notification to members.... What gives!?♂️ …
Good facility with lots of equipment and pretty clean. Not enough water stations however but they do have many cleaning stations which is good. They also have a womens section which I like and a pool, hot tub, and a sauna. This is a very busy gym through out the day and decent at night. Enjoy going here with my friend for a good work out.
I really love this gym! I love how big it is and how much is available. I ALSO love the classes that are available. If it was a little more affordable for people it would be 5/5. The staff is usually really nice. Sometimes they are a little too chatty with each other but it makes sense. They do pay attention to you when you need it.
I had the pleasure of having Emmely as my personal trainer for 6 months! She is a wealth of knowledge, a dedicated professional and an excellent personal trainer. I learned so much in the short six months I trained with her and her drive and determination is inspiring and motivating. I highly recommend Emmely as a personal trainer!
Huge gym with new equipments, friendly staff, and a huge space! This gym is the best good life I've been to. (In comparison to upper James, upper wentworth, and Jackson one). I go here 4-5 times a week and there's always a cleaning staff at night that keeps the equipments and the place nice and tidy. Highly recommend this gym!
Amazing staff, but one staff in particular who should be recognized for going over and beyond exceptional customer service, dedication to work and friendliness to club members. Thank you Claudio for making GoodLife, Stonechurch a safe, and clean environment and a place I want to keep coming back because of what you do!!!
This is a great Gym in my eyes. The staff also look after the best interests of its patrons unlike many Gyms in Ontario. Equipment selection is outstanding and the amenities are such a blessing! I appreciate Claudio as well, he’s a real guy when helping out. Go to him if you need anything he’s usually at the front desk.
My experience with the gym staff was less than satisfactory. Their lack of attentiveness and indifference towards members' needs was disappointing. It felt like there was no genuine interest in helping or providing guidance. Improvement in customer service is definitely needed to create a more positive gym environment.
a worker named hailee or somthing like that was absolutely rude when greeting at the front desk. almost refused me entry saying i looked underaged and was trying to get beyond the teen fitness hours, when i at in fact a full paying member. i found this unacceptable since i do love this gym and most staff are wonderful.
I did not like this gym as I had my bathing suit stolen while I was in the washroom. Went to the front desk and they couldn't help me. Also, I found that the women's change area was not as clean as it should be. Also the turf area is small so when you have 4-5 people working out, its crowded. I liked the new equipment.
Emmely is an exceptional personal trainer! Her personalized approach to fitness is truly incredible. She is knowledgeable, motivating, and always goes the extra mile to ensure I reach my goals. With her guidance, I've experienced remarkable progress. If you're seeking a dedicated trainer, Emmely is the one to choose!
As a retired manager of big box retail stores of 40 years. I want to compliment Kyle and his team. I know what leadership looks like and the exceptional high standards of cleanliness and staff moral is a reflection of great leadership. I know that these standards are not in place in most of the rest of this industry.
During Covid-19 they have been amazing at cleaning and making sure everyone is following protocol. As a nurse in the community it makes me feel better knowing i can go somewhere and not have to worry about anything. Plenty of hand sanitizers and they have implemented more sanitizing stations! Great job Kyle :)
Mike was a fantastic employee. Answering all the questions with a smile. Going above and beyond constantly trying improve the lives of others and quality of the gym. Definitely made my first experience trying out the gym worth while. Highly recommend this individual for a possible raise or promotion!!!!!
Not bad, but too expensive for what it is. I can pay half as much at other gyms and get just as much if not more in the way of machines, water, tanning, sauna, pool, hot tub, etc. The one thing I like is that they keep the place really clean, but that alone doesn't warrant the high prices in my opinion.
I was worried about getting back into the gym with the pandemic going in, but this place has taken precautions to protect their members. The staff has been helpful and I have had a great experience working with Ronnie. If you haven't been to the gym in a while, I would recommend starting here first.
Terrible experience at this location! The front desk staff Marisla definitely need to be trained! Trying to learn more about the membership and she don’t any knowledge at all. And told me have to wait at 20 min to see a sales person and no manager at all. It’s just waste time! Not recommended!!
This is a great facility. Tons of equipment, helpful classes and staff. And a nice pool. I go on off hours so it's not too busy, but I've heard Monday and Tuesday evenings are packed. The only thing holding me back from giving five stars is the price. All in all. I would definitely recommend.
Love this gym with pool, hot tub and cold plunge. Great trainers and I have always felt welcome. Highly recommend for anyone starting out on their fitness journey or looking to amp up what they are doing. Rachel is the best trainer and she has been an amazing support on my fitness journey.
Excellent gym. Large workout areas with lots of equipment. Very clean. Fun, friendly staff. 5 stars for Personal Trainer Coach Sara. She is so knowledgeable and she knows how to work with you to reach your goals and also make it fun. I honestly look forward to our sessions together.
Well, I just have joined this gym and this is freaking big it has just everything Sauna steam Tanning Swimming Pool or every Exercise equipments and a lot much. Employees behavior are just friendly and so amazing. Can't wait to join Swimming pool, they're just about to open. Thanks.
It is a great facility, however the change rooms are constantly left in terrible states. Towels, dirt and junk all over the floor, soap dispensers empty or even knocked off the walls and so on. For the price of membership, these locker rooms should be in prestine order
Very rude staff, tried to go with a friend who has been a member there for 7 plus years and was denied entry. $25 for a guest pass is outrageous. Needless to say we went to crunch where you can bring a guest whenever you want for free.
Staff doesn't explain anything fully .. gym is packed at all hours. Extemely expensive and you dont get what you pay for. Tanning isn't included and for the low price of 65 dollars a month you can tan but staff doesn't clean anything
Great staff, friendly. Amazing daycare people for my kids. They really try hard to work with them to allow the parents a nice workout. I absolutely love and adore Kathy, the Zumba instructor. Simply amazing! Would recommend it.
The best gym in the city in my opinion. They have a wide variety of equipment that is well maintained. The pool and dressing rooms are always clean and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Get fit today! Thank you goLife
This gym has some of the best trainers! Ive been training with Sara for the past couple of months and she's been the most motivating and attentive trainer to work with. This gym's staff is always so inviting and welcoming.
Ive been training with Olga for a year now, one of the best decisions I have made. She has help me so much with my weight loss and my relationship with food. She has gone above and beyond for myself and all her clients.
Good equipment and nice layout of the gym. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the facility is subpar - filthy change rooms/bathrooms especially! For the membership fees people are paying, please hire some more cleaners.
Love this location over all other GoodLife’s. Equipment is always in excellent condition, fun classes. Staff is also awesome. Shout out to Chelsea who helped me get set up and is helpful & friendly everytime I come in!
What a great place!! . Wonderful atmosphere very clean and so much variety of machines. And on top of everything the staff are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it for everyone. They deserve it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The place is huge with very good selection of equipment. My worse experiense was my personal trainer Corrien. She is unprofessional, unorganized and always late. Please select any other trainer to reach your goals.
The gym is jam packed almost every time I go there recently it take long time to use the machines, It wasn’t like this before. Now shampoo is not available. The service is going down, I hope these things improve.
I started working out at Good Life about 8 months ago and it's been great. I train with Sara and I see such great results. She provides great advice and I always have such a fun time. Would recommend!
Personal trainer Olga is amazing. She pushes me to be my best and we laugh and have a great time each session. She’s passionate about people living their best life. So thankful for my time with her.
Great gym it smells great, it’s clean, the equipment is new and modern, it’s big and spacious, the staff is exceptional, and the women that work out there are super beautiful 10 stars!
Great equipment maintained regularly pool and hot tub and cold tub are clean and well maintained, training staff are polite but the younger ones seem to be in another world sometimes.
I quit my membership during Covid and now I can't afford to rejoin. Membership was $18.00 per month when I quit and now it's 3 times that amount. Too bad..I really liked this gym
Best gym in Hamilton! I love the hot tub after a good workout. The womens section has the best variety of equipment around. Always clean and very friendly staff!
Okay.. bit costly. But they charge u pre authorized payments even if u have given for cancelation. U really need to keep following up. Thats irritating
Love it here! Have been coming here since they opened. It's always super clean, the staff is super friendly. Gets really busy, but for obvious reasons.
Mike was very helpful and set up my friends with memberships very quickly and informatively. He’s the man! Hard worker and a very nice guy.
Really good gym in terms of size, equipment, amenities, and cleanliness. The only downside is that it's usually busy all the time.
