09 November. I really thought I was going to spend the whole day in a queue, so I arrived at Gordons Bay licence centre at six this morning. I was the first to arrive, needless to say a few others arrived shortly after. Although it was long before opening time, you could have a nice chat with fellow applicants. About half an hour before opening a very helpful staff member came to check our documents and took it made photo copies. As the office opened we went in and was greeted by awesome friendly staff. The process went quick. I left there with a smile. Well done to the staff with excellent service. # Gordons bay is tops.

Stood in the 40 degree sun last week Friday for 2 hours before I was allowed in to apply for my daughter's learners. Was then told i needed an affadavit for her proof of address. Surely the officials could make the effort to check your supporting documents on arrival instead of making us stand in the blistering heat and sun for two hours and then only turning us away. Shocking and rude service...not going back there...will drive to find better service

Weirdest request from the cashier, I wanted to pay with my bank card, but the cashier asked me to read out aloud the expiry date on my bank card. Because she has to write it down on their “forms”. I refused, saying it’s absurd and unsafe to disclose this information. The cashier addressed me with irritation that I had a problem providing card details to a stranger. Surely this cannot be the norm.

Very positive experience..maybe I got lucky and chose a good day. In and out in 30 minutes. I did a license renewal. Cashier and reception staff could try be a little friendlier but otherwise the system works efficiently and quickly. The chap who did my eye test was professional and super friendly. Remember to take photos, proof of address and a valid ID.

In and out in less than 20 minutes. Super friendly, efficient, and professional team, from the lady who welcomed me at the door to the lady who took down all my details to the gentleman who did my eye test and, finally, the cashier at the end. Such a breath of fresh air compared to the traffic departments up in Gauteng and the North West.

Unbelievable service, polite, helpful and very quick. Quiet out of the way so probably reason it is not very busy. Took from start to finish 45 min. What started as a daunting experience in thought was a pleasant experience in reality. The staff take pride in their work. Thank you to each one of them.

This department, Mr Ramaphosa, is a textbook example of apathetic, disinterested and unfriendly staff working in a government department that you're ever likely to come across. It's absolute disgraceful that these people are actually being paid a salary given how they treat their "customers."

Waste of time here, room full of people waiting for hours and hours in front of the eye testing station with no one there! There is only one machine, but to make it worse the person doing the tests isn't even there! Eventually left and will go to another office.

Even though I didn't have to stand in a queue, the staff were very unhelpful and unfriendly, except for the lady that helped me with my eye test. There was an elderly lady who was helped before me that was also treated in an annoyed manner.

Skilled and knowledgeable personnel. Yes it did take some time - about and hour and a half (including the time it took to have my pics taken across the road) - but that is the time I had hoped for. Thanks for a surprisingly easy experience.

Very rude staff. Declines FICA documents that the bank accepted! Only friendly person is the eye test lady. The staff give the impression they are doing you a favour being there. Sent from one queue to the next. Very unpleasant experience.

I don't usually leave comments, but i have to commend the amazing staff at this testing centre. There was no queue as it runs efficiently. Special mention must be made of Hanlo who couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you all

Very slow, waited so long to just renew my license. Am still waiting.. would rather choose driving illegal. I am not buying a house here just new freaking license. Got beter when it seems like the boss game around..

GB Traffic Department only does Drivers Lisence renewals & Services related to Drivers/ Learners Lisence Applications they do not service those who would like to renew their Vehicle Registrations.

Really efficient, staff deal with lots of people but do it professionally. Special mention of Nora who is a wonderful example of a friendly, happy and service driven staff member. Very impressed.

If you live in Somerset West or nearby areas I would suggest doing your drivers through this department as the test is easier and the staff are friendly and a smoother service

Face to face, the service is excellent, but trying for days to get someone to answer a phone. I want to know if they have my renewed license card, but no-one answers.

Waiting 3 hours to renew my license, typical Government Department, why NO supervisors. Should employ more trained staff, which can help the unemployment situation.

Expect to queue outside without shelter for minimum 4 hours. Queue moves at about 6 persons per hour. Took me on a Thursday, queuing from 8am, 5.5 hours.

Fast & efficient. Suggest if you wear Multifocals have your eyes tested at an optician. Take this certificate to the dept with you. It is accepted.

Staff was helpfull. Don't bother to do a eye test prior. The certificate means nothing. You have to do it again as part of the screening.
