"If you are lucky enough to time it when they have open days and music events there (rare!) then you can get in and have a wander around and explore some of the history, it truly is an amazing little area nestled in behind those imposing walls! You'll be rewarded with a lovel historic house and lots of tales, as well as nice gardens you can wander around and explore that have plenty of shade and plenty to see and do, right in the heart of the city centre!"

Was invited by the South Australian Governor The Honourable Hieu Van Le, to meet His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex (Prince Edward), as I help run the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award at a state school. This event was full on POSH! Proper dress code, superb wine and hors d'oeuvres at the reception! Very well managed with the Prince mingling for a few minutes with everyone. His assistant making sure he was able to move through the 50 odd guests with ease. The speeches, once they got past the titles, were short and to the point, after which the Prince departed. Even though it overran by about 15 minutes, it was quite funny because as soon as the Prince left, the Military/Police who were there, came and made sure that we weren't going to be hanging around... All in all, a very pleasant experience, in a fantastic setting! Thank you to all involved.

The Governor's wife Mrs Lan Le, was a welcoming and informative host as she shared the history of her dining room, and the provenance of historical furnishings in Government House. We particularly enjoyed the insights behind the 'secret passage' doorway.

We have been here twice now for different functions and the building, furniture and grounds are amazing. Well worth the visit on one of the open days
Very nicely set out. Looking for some where to visit no reason to miss out for a guided tour of the government house during a open day.
You cannot access the grounds as the Governor lives there, but you can see the grounds primarily through the eastern fence line.
Hosts numerous receptions to recognise outstanding public service. Also provides venue to mark academic excellence in schools.
Walked by this place many a time on the way to work or uni. Can't believe it took me so long to go inside. Do it, it's freeeee
