Fantastic hotel. Probably one of the more expensive hotels in Yangon (Rangoon), but my wife and I loved it. Reasonable balance between gardens/pool and rooms, so it feels spacious and quiet. Off the main road so limited noise from the surrounding area. Top quality service and very attentive staff. Rooms are spacious with a desk, and sofa and few chairs, plus huge king-size bed. Food: afternoon tea (has to be booked a day in advance) is very delicate, well baked patisserie with tiny sandwiches and savoury snacks. Far too much food, but it meant we skipped dinner that night. Dinner: Burmese buffet upstairs (except today when they went Mexican - possibly every Thursday); downstairs - a la carte, mainly Western food. Breakfast: fairly typical mix of Western and local buffet, lots of fruit, egg station where they'll cook you an omelette, eggs fried or scrambled. Generally - you get a LOT of food. Don't have three meals a day. If you come back they bang their gong at the entrance hall to welcome you back. All guests are sat down, offered a chilled towel and a cold drink while they sort out check in (about 2 minutes on our second visit.) Didn't try their spa, but did have a free 5-min "taster" of the massage. We loved the pool area, usually a light breeze and cool pool. Lots of towels, beds, hats, fans, sunblock and even swimming goggles on offer. For us, half the sun beds were way too hot - a westerner can't handle direct sunlight this close to the equator, especially not when it's 37C (99F) in the shade.
It was a great pleasure staying belmond governor's residence Yangon during this pandemic period. Hotel staffs were very helpful. The hotel provides almost every facilities from good rooms , face mask , sensitizer spray and hand gel and also take care of stay safe standard because of they checked scan of the body temperature and wear mask before check -in . We can join yoga class sat & Sunday it was great. We can say food was great like home – made fresh food (i mean it :))Overall experience was awesome.I'll recommend this hotel to every couple and families:). You wont regret, just be there:) You can call and take booking early for staycation pack in there .

Booked for dinner in the evening (no hotel booking so can't comment on that) Beautiful & tranquil surroundings in a busy city, table next to the pond which was very relaxing. We ate from the Myanmar tasting menu rather than the more western themed dishes and the food was great, a slightly gourmet twist on traditional dishes with smaller portion sizes but still plenty to fill you up! Good wine and cocktails, plus you can drink in the bar afterwards. Expect a mostly European tourist crowd rather than locals, and it's a little on the pricey side but definitely worth a visit.
The governor's residence is where the original governor of Burma lived when the country was under colonial rule. It's a bit of the beaten track but well worth the effort of finding it. Most taxis will know where it is. It's an example of wonderful colonial architecture set in beautiful grounds. You can stay there although it's on the pricey side. They do serve the best Burmese food there it is just wonderful to tasty the exotic herbs and spices. Add with anywhere in Myanmar the service is great and the staff are friendly
Beautifully decorated Met friends who stay there for their Yangon visit. We had a great late lunch. The sad thing was the very disturbing loud children while at the restaurant. But this are the parents to blame more than the hotel staff who dare not asking the parents to keep their children under control. There should be a policy though when other customers spend good money and want their peaceful stay !

Worthy of six stars, this beautiful and tranquil hotel in the heart of Yangon is only outdone by its professional, courteous and kind staff. Hoping for better days ahead for Myanmar when this stunning property again welcomes guests.

Beautiful historical hotel, with extremely good and attentive service. When lounging at the pool, one of the hotel staff who was bringing me cold water saw me blow my nose and immediately offered to bring me ginger lemon tea! All the other staff were also extremely helpful. My only issue - the shower water pressure was extremely weak (even after they raised it for me), and was in such an angle that you end up wetting the floor even with the weak pressure
Perhaps the best choice to savour the uniqueness of Yangon. The hotel is located near various embassies in a quiet neighbourhood north of the city, giving it a secluded and private feel. With friendly and professional staff, should be of the best options in Southeast Asia for a relax and exotic escape. Also here you can meet Mr. Charlie the peacock and his family, Jack the cat and two geese as well. Stayed five days here, definitely will revisit.
Loved the peacocks roaming around the grounds and hospitality of daily activities (we did the train ride with hotel staff to have local tea in a rural market). Standout first experience of the Belmond brand

Gracious colonial era hotel set in lush grounds. Peacocks roam the grounds and are not shy about showing off their plumage. Attentive helpful staff from top to bottom. Comfortable rooms with first class shampoos and amenities. Delicious food served on a veranda overlooking a water garden. Both Burmese and western food served. The fixed menu of Burmese foods gives a great selection.
It's a gem within the bustling city of Yangon. Beautifully restored building with wonderful friendly staff. The deluxe twin is spacious, beds like clouds of heaven and a bath tub that let's you lay flat on your back! Wake up to the songs of birds, roaming peacocks, ducks and geese adds a touch of charm while you are having breakfast. Highly recommend for a short stay.
Wonderful hotel located near many foreign embassies outside of downtown area. Hotel decorated with lots of teakwood. Room nice sized. Service is in keeping with a five star hotel. Breakfast buffet great. Food in hotel good but very expensive even by North American standards. Large pool that was welcomed after a day of touring. Overall a great hotel.
This place is awesome, expensive, but worth it. When you come in there is this guy playing a relaxed tune on a harp like instruments, the champagne brunch is very good quality, and the building is gorgeous. Saturday and Sunday you can do yoga upstairs which was one of the nicest (indoor) places I’ve practiced. Oh, there is a beautiful pool too.
Gorgeous property in a restored old governor's mansion. Really is stunning, it should be heritage-listed. A must-see in Yangon. G&T's on the verandah at sunset type of place.

Met a friend for lunch before going to the airport. Staff was very attentive, perhaps overly so. The food was quite good and something different from the traditional food you would get but it comes at kind of a high price. So a luxurious place if you want a break from local food but expensive in my opinion.
Amazing hotel. Incredible architecture. They have cocktails on the lawns in the evenings. You get to mingle with other guests. Very eclectic crowd. There was a Thomas in the Sales department. Very nasty. Excellent food. A perfect hotel. Except for the Thomas. He should not be in hospitality.
Superb hospitality. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice. Breakfast by the verdant garden and the large free form pool in the mornings is just glorious. Terribly expensive room service menu mars the experience ever so slightly but highly recommended all around.
A great place for "High Tea"! If you are looking for a place to escape for a little while a little high tea in the afternoon is a must. This is a beautiful hotel with great service. If you are visiting Yangon either a late afternoon or evening visit is well worth it.
Beautifully decorated hotel and restaurant. The food was really tasty! Better to make a reservation to have a table by the pool side. Many art pieces were exhibited around the hotel made it something more to appreciated. Garden seems spacious also very well managed.
Quite resort with a lot of interesting activity such as yoga, language learning, spa, professional cooking class, evening happy hour to get together with the staff and other guest. The breakfast is nice to taste some local flavor such as rohinga.
Peaceful surroundings, nice service, lovely main building which houses the restaurant. We were in a private room for 13 and pre ordered a 3 course set menu to save time and keep to a 2 hour dinner. In addition to the three courses the … နောက်ထပ်
The only problem with this hotel, in my opinion, is that it beeing so very lovely, especially the area around the beautiful swimming pool, makes it hard to leave its grounds and face the heat and the noise and polution of Yangon. … နောက်ထပ်
Governor's Residence hotel is one of the best hotels in Yangon. Beautiful garden, swimming pool and room. Situated on quiet and nice place. They served delicious breakfast everyday. Luxury hotel and good place for relaxation.
Always love coming back here again and again because the staff are all so warm, friendly and attentive. Place is cosy and quiet and the food is great. Just wished they hadn't done away with the Myanmar Buffet Dinner !
A beautiful colonial mansion, it truly was like stepping back through time. A little oasis in the heart of the city, with very friendly staff and a great breakfast Buffett. Very much enjoyed our stay here! နောက်ထပ်
Such a tranquil setting! Ate a delicious meal here in a historic wooden building, beautifully preserved. Water features around the building really add to the environment. Mango juice was the best I've ever had.
Wow, what a beautiful place! The staff were incredibly friendly and personable. We felt like we were 100km away from the city right in downtown Yangon. The pool and facilities are well kept and just great.
I only came here for a food/restaurant review. Its a totally lovely place, with a British colonial architecture. The Burmese Curry Table is awesome! Perfect for those who wants to know about Burmese food!
This hotel is...a world within Yangoon. Every single staff are friendly and the place itself is...just AMAZING!! Peacocks, ducks, ponds. … နောက်ထပ်
