"Nice library"
"Visited for the first time because we heard they had a good kids area"
"I've been in San Antonio for about 8 years now and I haven't got a library card"
"Actually I went to vote early"
We have been using this branch regularly for the past 5 years. We have visited other branches, but we prefer this one not only because it is close to our home but because it has a more homey feeling. It may not be the newest or most up to date, but it has what you need and is clean and well organized. They have done some recent updates in the past couple of years, also. The staff is helpful, there is a large selection, and being part of the whole San Antonio Library system allow you access to the material at other branches, so you can put something on hold to be brought here and the system notifies you when it is available to pick-up. We have been especially grateful for the adept staff during the pandemic and the offering of curbside pick-up. We were able to check out over 800 items during this time. In addition, this is a voting and early voting location.
Nice library. Its quiet and quaint. You can get in and out quickly, and there's ample parking. Its I bit older and some odd characters come and go here sometimes, but ive never seen an incident and i go here a lot. There is a police officer on duty most of the time, and honestly that does make me uncomfortable. I started just having books held here to pick up vs browsing the shelves. I cant imagine anyone stealing free books from a library or causing trouble here. Most people that are a tad odd or potentially homeless cone in to get away from the cold or heat outside and i see them just sitting quietly at tables reading. Theyve never bothered anyone. They should be able to use the library too without security breathing down their neck. They're still people, especially if they are behaving and acting civil.
Visited for the first time because we heard they had a good kids area. Arrived just after story hour and my kids were excited to see toys and magnets to play with. We were happily playing for 5 minutes before an employee came up and forceably pulled toys out of my two year olds hands well stating “we are picking up!” No warning. Just yanking toys out of his hands. Cool. We move on to the other side and they start playing with the kitchen set. Another employee comes over and does the same thing. I’m sitting right next to them and they didn’t even explain to me what was happening before they starting grabbing toys out of their hands. I asked what the schedule was for the play time and she said shortly “well you should come at 10:15 next time”. Ok. How ‘bout never?
I've been in San Antonio for about 8 years now and I haven't got a library card. I'll go in they get me taken care of and they were very nice. They were calm because I was a little upset because I didn't understand things. They were very nice and professional . I didn't have to wait they saw me immediately got my information got my keychain card and got my library card.. haven't gotten anything yet but it's a nice little place it's next to the shopping center 10 minutes walk from my house. Right now you are required to wear a mask while in the building. Which I have no problem with. And usually open from 10:00 to 6:00 I believe.
Actually I went to vote early. The line was long about 40 yards . However as I was making my way to the end of the line ,a very nice gentleman told me handicappers go to front of the line . I voted and thanked the gentleman, Jesse. HANDICAP got me HANDICAP license plates . I taught cool I can park up front now . However, hey your HANDICAP go to the front ,let him by he's HANDICAP. Went to show my ID'S , hey are you HANDICAP. I wanted say no its Halloween and I'm getting a head. Start . Went to the voting booth and again I get ,you're HANDICAP. If I didn't know I HANDICAP I knew it now. OTHER THAN THAT LIFE IS GRAND .
Clean, employees are helpful and nice. This weekend was very noisy, someone was rearranging the metal shelves and we were trying to work on the computer and it was difficult to concentrate with the loud noise. One guy who was on the computer was laughing loudly, like he was at a party. The day before there was a drunk man on the computer and he reaked of Alchohol, and smelled like urine too!! Was Rude to my husband when he saw his T shirt had a Puerto Rico flag on it!!! No one was checking the computer area, the security guard was No Where to be found!!!
Everyone has a great time at the Great Northwest Library. Our family have been coming for more that 12 year's great staff and volunteers. Our family have been entertained by the programs they sponser my son gained love for reading by listeng to stories being read to him by Great Northwest staff also by watching the experiments the science guy did. And when my son was old enough and began reading on his own... He could win a free book. Thank you Great Northwest Library for being here for our community.
This review is for the Manager Roberto Zapata. This library has the longest time to check out. He saw the long line and will not offer addition help. I was going to return 4 DVD and want to check out 4 DVD right away and He refuse to check the DVD in for me. I could have use the Express to check out but because of Roberto I had to wait in the line for 20 minutes to check out. I have been to many other branches and Roberto is the rudest person I have ever encountered.
Am new in town and Jordan at the front desk was a true gem in helping me find what I needed in the library; I also had other questions and needed help printing and he took the time to help me get it done. Great customer service is hard to find but not at this library. Printing is affordable at 20 cents per page for black and white. They've got lots of kids activities and looks like a great family oriented library. Date of visit: Sept 25 2019
Needed a place to do plannimg for the week with a co-worker. Would have liked to use one of the rooms they had to be able to talk a bit more about all of our work. But they are "quiet rooms" to me it makes more sense to have guest who may need to talk louder go in the room versus be out in the library where patrons are already using quiet voices. Regardless, we got our work complete.
We just moved to San Antonio & tried to find a quality story time for my twins. I have taken our kids to many libraries over the years & this is one of the best I've seen. Cari & Theresa plan a lot of learning activities for toddlers. Veronica is a volunteer who helps out. They are kind, understanding & friendly. Absolutely love the people & their program...THANK YOU!
Clean, spacious library with kind and welcoming staff. Their Friday morning Kid’s program is amazing! They put a lot of effort, heart, and soul into the program, and there are many well thought out activities for children and their caregivers. I am so happy that SAPL is reintroducing more of the children’s events and I hope to attend more of these in the future.
I have three small children and we enjoy coming to this library! There is a separate and spacious children's area with a large selection of books. There have a small aquarion that keeps my littles very entertained. I especially appteciate the amount of activities they have work children every day. This has been my favorite library to take my children to.
This public library is very helpful, always ready to go the extra mile, and the staff are professional and cordial. As a graduate student, an interlibrary loan is important. This library is good about getting the book(s) as quickly as possible. I am grateful for their service to this community. It makes a difference.
Went there to get a birth certificate for my son. Filled out the form from the counter and the lady said this doesn't fit our template sorry, can't print a certificate for you. No explanation as to why, just doesn't fit. I literally used the form they've got on the counter. What a joke and waste of time.
SAPL is a great library system, and Great Northwest is a nice local branch. Nothing fancy, but they have a decent selection and the staff are friendly and helpful. And of course you can always request a book and it will be held for you at your preferred location.
Pleasant. I was kind irritated that I couldn't pay my balance with my girlfriend's card, but quickly appreciated the safety of our information. All in all the library was well kept up and everyone was really nice and my daughter had a wonderful time
They're currently doing curbside pickup only. The staff was friendly and helpful when I spoke with them over the phone to ask questions about my visit. I was in and out in less than 10 mins and now I've got a book to keep me company in quarantine.
This library was a really pleasant surprise. Really good selection and generous check-out periods. The staff are friendly and have helped us several times when we were trying to find specific books. The children's area is nice too.
Nice selection of books. Staff is kind and helpful. The kids love seeing the fish in the children’s area when we visit. Seating is comfortable and plentiful. We enjoy the homeschool programs that are offered here.
Nice little Library with a clean and silent environment. You have public computers, tables and wifi to get your work done :-) as many Libraries it does need a bit of renovation but the important things are there.
Amazing staff really helpful, since I walk in the people in the front welcome me, and explain what I need it to do, people from check out, extremely attention to details, nice atmosphere, clean and organize
Went to early vote about 2pm today. The line looked long, but it went by really fast. Took a total of 24 minutes, from the time waiting in line until the time I exited the building. Great polling site!
Very very nice library. Many many books, fabulous kids section with its own huge selection of books; caring staff, helpful customer service. Wonderful place. Better than the others I've been to in SAT!
I love this library, the staff are very nice they provide info with lots of details. the place is very clean and not crawded. and I love the story time they have for kids, the storyteller is awesome.
Staff are very helpful. Any question that you have they don't mind answering or showing you. I had a speech a needed to do for a class and one librarian showed me plenty of material for the topic.
Went to vote at the Great Northwest library yesterday morning. Only a few people ahead of me, in and out in no time. Hope this helps when you guys looking for a quick location to vote.
Not friendly staff ever, they have to know they are getting there salary for helping us ,not to be rude and mean to us ,thy speak too rude to me and my son today ,never again .
It was my first time in a public library for some time and Donna, at the reference desk, was extremely friendly and helpful. I appreciate her kindness and patience greatly!
Everytime we go visit, we always leave happy. Check out books, videos, computers available. They do not fax, but across at HEB they do. All staff are nice and helpful.
Very great and spacious library! So glad San Antonio has OPTIONS when it comes to great library. Strong Wi-Fi signal really helped me get some work done! Thanks a lot!
Staff are friendly and welcoming and want to assist whenever possible. Small library but they offer a good selection of books for a variety of their public customers.
To whom it may concern. This SAPL BRANCH is a very cool, quiet, also peaceful public library. Like an " office". L.o.l But keep away from the " kids ". L.o.l
This is a cute little library with a nice area for kids. It was super quiet when we went. I love all of the color and how organized everything is!
