BE WARNED, THIS BANK: - ADVERTISES ONE RATE, GIVES YOU ANOTHER - THEY EITHER LIE ABOUT YOUR CREDIT SCORE OR THEIR APPLICATION PROCESS DAMAGES YOUR CREDIT SCORE UP TO 8x MORE THAN TYPICAL CREDIT APPLICATIONS. For context, I soft checked my credit score 5 minutes before applying (this doesn't usually affect your score at all) and had a score over 1,050 with Equifax. I also called Great Southern Bank and according to them, any credit score over 1,000 with Equifax qualifies you for their lowest rate. With this in mind, I knew that even after applying, my score of over 1050 would still be over 1,000 and enough to qualify for their best rate given hard credit inquiry's typically only affect you score 5-10 points. Once I applied, it was a rude shock to see the rate I was offered was NOT what I was told I would get based on my credit score / their calculator tool / discussion with GAB representative beforehand. After receiving this higher rate, I called to check why this was the case and was told my credit score was 971. Just 5 minutes earlier, my score was over 1,050 so some how this application had dropped my credit score over 80 credit points OR the person was lying about my score being 971. Either way, not sure what is worse? After explaining the situation and showing the credit report pre application to the GAB representative, they were not sure why there was such a variance but said it must of come as a result of the application with GAB. I asked if given the circumstances, they could just honuor the lower rate given my pre score application of over 1050 but surprise surprise, there was nothing they could do. Typical bank putting profits before (potential) customers either through deceptive practices, flat out lying and or both. I recommend anybody considering this company to stay away Once you apply, their application process may cost you so many credit points that it will affect your credit score which then may effect the rates you are offered elsewhere

Don over the phone keep lying and have to follow up everyday and he would ask millions of questions, information were provided over 20 email exchanges, completely waste of time. I have got another loan from Top4 bank and funds disbursed within 24 hours, lots easier and treat customer with respect unlike CUA that treat someone that begging for 8k loan. We had CUA loan before and never late when making repayment and even paid the loan earlier but we will never bank again with CUA, just waste of time. PLEASE PLEASE think twice before submitting any application online, it will be extremely difficult process!

Be careful with Great Southern Bank home loans as they will hook you in with their lower than standard rates and then proceed to increase your interest rate citing escalating funding costs. However they are then able to turn around and offer low interest rates to entice NEW customers to join, leaving existing customers SOL. Owned by the members my a*se! They are in it to screw their members!
AVOID THIS BANK No good for savings. CX is so woefully frustrating that GSB makes every other bank seem superb! Save yourself the anguish, go elsewhere with your savings. UPDATE: Decided to close my account and that has been another saga because my balance is to high, wasted hours on the phone, still not closed SERIOUSLY THE WORST OF THE WORST BANKS they deserve a negative amount of stars
My experience with gsb has been awesome. From opening to closure, and some online interactions everything was quick and easy. Email and chat response was very quick and very accurate. Much better than the big 4 banks. Would definitely do business again in the future.
Cheap home loan rate but absolutely impossible to reach on the phone. Just want to change the PIN on my card but for some reason the rediATMs wont allow us! Then we tried another and the ATM said the card was not valid! You guys suck.
Seems like eveyone comes on here to complain but not give positive feedback. I applied for and had my home loan refinanced in 5 weeks. Pleasant experience from start to finish. Thanks to Laila M. Who helped me through with my loan.
So looking to move my home loan from my current bank. Filled in the online form and YES I am a member been a week now and no contact....hmm might read the reviews to see if this s atypical of GSB AKA CUA
No contact regarding closure of my account, I have received a letter in the mail that the account is clear yet there is still a loan showing on my credit score. Impossible to contact, very poor
Dropped in to this branch to get a bank cheque — was served by someone seconds after I walked through the door, was served professionally and quickly, and was on my way five minutes later.
Dam! Ya call, and you get attitude. All chern and burn!! It's worse now than years ago. They are just after the buck. Yeah that's right! Get better service from Branch staff now. Wow!!!!
They bait and switch new customers by offering cheap rates on their web page which they they increase after you've been accepted and they cease offering the product to new customers
Incompetent. If they are not sure they hope for the best rather than seek clarification. A terrible way to work with peoples finances. AVOID!
