Green Drop definitely doesn't have a friendliness issue, but it does unfortunately have a competency issue. Maybe it's all that nicety that blocks the flow of communication. You have to pay a lot for their incompetence, but the chill vibes are totally free, bro! Short Version: I came in having already identified the problem with my car. I was then charged for Green Drop's incorrect diagnosis, & told that I should pay for them to pursue further incorrect avenues of investigation until their "Master Technician" could figure out what I had already told them. Green Drop's mechanics didn't listen to or seem interested in my description of the problem my car was having. They wanted to slowly, expensively discover it for themselves. I didn't bite. We took it to another shop who quickly and correctly fixed it. I emailed Green Drop about my experience, & they responded by reciting a bunch of garbage about their wonderful, excellent business practices, and, while not admitting fault, they offered me a free oil change. I told them to shove it. Whole Story: The car was suddenly having trouble starting, but only when it was completely cold --like if it had been sitting overnight. It could take ten minutes of cranking to start, and drain the battery in the process. But, the car started totally fine if it had been running in the past couple of hours. I have an OBD scanner, so I looked, and it was throwing a new code for the coolant temperature sensor (CTS). I read about this problem for my model, & other owners described the same symptoms. I considered replacing the $15 sensor myself. I watched a YouTube video, & was confident that I could remove a couple of things from the top of my engine block to reach the sensor, but a little less confident that I would put them back in the right way. So, I brought the car in to Green Drop to get the CTS replaced. I was told there would be a $120 diagnostic fee. Okay...sure, that's why I brought it in rather than rely on my amateur opinion, right? Later on the phone, Green Drop tells me the battery needs to be replaced, & the car has four trouble codes, for which just the diagnosis would be another $120 *each* (an additional $480). But, they said, replacing the battery should fix the problem. I already knew two of the codes related to evaporative purge flow (which reclaims gasoline as it evaporates in the gas tank) & the catalytic converter, longstanding issues with this car which wouldn't prevent the engine from starting in the cold. Then there was the CTS, & a fourth one that didn't show up on my own scanner related to the ignition and engine speed. (Later I found out this last one was probably due to the engine misfiring *because of* the faulty CTS.) I said to go ahead & replace the battery, if you think that will fix it, but don't go diagnosing anything else just yet. The work was done. On picking up the car, I was told again that the battery had probably ("95% sure") been the source of the issue. Gosh, they were nice. Next morning tho, sure enough, the cold engine won't start. On calling back, I was told it *still* probably wasn't the coolant temperature sensor, but it was probably related to the ignition. But why would the ignition work just fine unless it's cold? How much would it cost to just replace the coolant temperature sensor, anyway? "$357 to cover diagnosis and replacement, but that probably isn't the problem." What about it, exactly, remains to be diagnosed? In the meantime, my girlfriend had called another shop and been quoted $159 to replace the sensor. We went to the other shop (Precision Motor Care), had the CTS replaced, & now the car reliably starts just fine in the cold. If I had kept the car at Green Drop, the coolant temp sensor would have been at least the third (or fourth?) thing to get fixed. Of course, I'm giving Green Drop the benefit of the doubt and assuming they were simply mistaken. The less charitable interpretation would be they were mistaken on purpose. I'll never know if that battery really needed to be replaced, but I'm glad I got the car out when I did.
My 2000 Eurovan broke down on a weekend. I was supposed to leave the next weekend on a week-long road trip and my regular mechanic couldn’t get me in, so I called Green Drop Monday morning. Green Drop’s first opening was Thursday at 8:00a. I explained the problem and that I was leaving on a road trip the next weekend and was nervous about not getting it in until Thursday. Green Drop explained that Eurovan parts were easy to get so they didn’t think there would be a problem with getting it fixed before the weekend. I even stopped by their shop on Tuesday and talked to the person at their front desk who assured me that they worked on Eurovans a lot and it shouldn’t be a problem to get it fixed. I dropped it off at 8:00a that Thursday. Their service guy, Noe, called me at around noon on and said the computer showed that 3 cylinders were misfiring. They ran a “block test” on it which turned out fine, but they couldn’t determine why it was misfiring. and they would need to schedule time the following week to look into it more. I explained that I had told them I needed it by the weekend when I made the reservation and was told it wouldn’t be a problem. He said he would try to spend some more time on it before the end of the day and he would call me. I didn’t hear anything that day and went there at 8:30a the next morning. My van was parked in the lot – not in a bay. They hadn’t done anything else to it. I paid for the hour of diagnostic work they had done and took the van to my regular mechanic. The next week when my regular mechanic could look at it, they determined that the van just had some bad spark plugs. They replaced the spark plugs and it fixed the problem. So, I don’t really know how good the mechanics at Green Drop are. I just know that they make false promises and don’t follow-through with what they say they will.
I had an amazing experience. My van had been acting “odd” for a few months and financial reasons I pushed driving it too far. It finally died and refused to start, and I had it towed to the central location on SE 9th. They did a quick diagnostic and initial readings suggested a completely dead battery. They installed a new one, but the next day before telling me my van was ready, they decided to double-check, and all electrical hell broke loose. Doors opening and closing. Pumps sometimes work, or not. Starting, not starting, the works. It turns out the TIPM was completely dead. If the computer is your car’s brain, the TIPM is the nerve system that relays all the information. Sadly, it is a very proprietary and expensive part, and I was looking at about $2500 for the part and installation. I was utterly crestfallen, as I don’t think my van is even worth that much, but I needed a working vehicle. After talking me down from my immediate shock, everyone at Green Drop Garage worked their butt off to find a more affordable solution. After a little over a week, they found a fully rebuilt one, and while the part is still expensive, going from $2500 to $1200 was a massive relief for me and my bank account. (This price also included labor and the new battery they installed, as it was dead). Everyone at Green Drop Garage was so understanding and had real empathy for my situation and I can’t thank them enough. They have certainly made a customer for life, and I will comfortably recommend them to friends.
I have been a green drop customer for 3+ years during which time I’ve been to three different locations. My experience by and large has been positive… honest people, quick turnaround, quality work. However, I most recently had two tires replaced at the Moreland location and in checking out over the phone I have never been spoken to so condescendingly — when seeking explanation as to why my tire repair (purchased ~1 year ago) wasn’t under warranty I was talked down to and interrupted. When closing out, the representative could not accept payment over the phone and texted me a link to an update. It did not contain a check out link so I called back and he snapped at me and said he “didn’t know the barrier to my figuring it out” and spoke down to me again, insinuating it was a user error on my part and offering no avenues to help. I explained again I was unable to pay and he then said “let me try sending a link after closing the invoice” and when I received the link again I was able to check out. I said “that seemed to work, for future reference the checkout mechanism only comes through if it’s an invoice” — he was again curt and rude. to was not like check out pages I don’t know if it’s because I’m a woman, because James was having a bad day, or perhaps this is just his way of navigating the world… regardless it was horrible customer service and I will do everything I can to go to other locations or take my business elsewhere.
Used this service for many years until several months ago. We first had one car on the monthly plan, then two, and no bad experiences only nice, helpful, knowledgeable people. My biggest knock, until recently, is that it too became popular, which meant I had to be proactive about scheduling if I wanted get seen at the original shop. More a me problem, I know, so anyway so.....I was about to review them critically because I was having a helluva time cancelling our subscription. Neither of the vehicles on the plan are in town anymore -- one was rear-ended and totaled (nobody hurt) down in Corvallis, and the other is now down there replacing the totaled one -- and I have been emailing the billing dept. for months without even so much as a written response, let alone action. To boot, the phone number on the billing email loops you if you follow its prompts because it directs you away from their shops for membership issues. So as last resort, today I just stayed on the line without response and eventually it rang through to a shop. Nathan picked up, I told him the situation without anger or blame, and he did the right thing without hesitation; he owned it, said he'd handle it, and he did, within a few minutes, which is really the best you can hope for in a situation like that. So laurels for Nathan, and the shop on SE Central that always did right by us, and a dart to corporate and billing for being missing in action.
It's such an odd feeling to be 'taken care of' by your repair shop, as we've been trained to always be cautious with repair shops. Discovering Green Drop has changed all of that for me. I'm in their car care membership, and it's been the best thing ever, for me and my car. I'm not stressed about when I need an oil change, I just make an appointment and it's all taken care of and paid with my *very reasonably priced* membership. I get a full inspection with each visit too, which always includes pictures and descriptions of what repairs are needed, and what those parts of your car does and why it's important. My most recent visit was because of my car becoming immobile, so I towed to GD and gave them a call with what was happening. They not only ordered the brand specific part I needed, but also were very transparent about costs and what was actually needed. By ordering a full part but only actually needing a small piece within it, they were able to just replace that and saved me a ton of money on labor costs. They're here to make it easier for everyone, not just make a buck. I know that when my car is in the shop, the person I call knows everything about what is going on and gives clear info. Everyone is incredibly friendly and easy going. Shout out to the crew at MLK and Central. Y'all are awesome. Thank you!
UPDATE: Shortly after posting my original review, Mike from the Moreland location called me and offered to take another look with no charge until the issue was diagnosed. I still wound up paying a lot of money for a relatively simple repair (replacing O2 sensor) but I’m just glad to have some resolution here. Thanks Mike. Original review: I really wanted to like Green Drop because of their eco-conscious approach and inclusive hiring practices. However, the service I received here was awful. I brought my car in with a check engine light and was told they would call me before doing any work that I would be billed for. Instead, they ran a full diagnostic, charged me $140 for it, and then said there was no check engine light and no issue with the car. When I called back after the Check Engine light came back on, they told me I would have to pay $150 for yet another diagnostic test just to find out what's going on. In the infinite wisdom of George W. Bush, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me... I won't get fooled again." AVOID.
Connecting with Green Drop Garage was pure serendipity! I needed a good mech rather quick. I was ordering parts at Napa nearby and Green Drop came up. I was a nervous Nellie, due to negative car repair experiences at other repair shops in PDX. My tools were in Hazel Dell, and driving my Pony there was not an option ( ever pushed a Mustang on a bridge?) I decided to have a little faith that Green Drop would be solid. Were they? YES! They were upfront about: 1) What and where the problem actually was. 2)What and how they were going to do the job. 3) How much it would cost, including parts & the initial estimation fee. 4) An HONEST WHEN it would be done. Point #5: Three days later, no issues on the repair. It was done right the FIRST TIME!! Will I return to Green Drop? ABSOLUTELY! ( they have more tools than I do) Would I recommend them? HELL YEAH! Especially for the ladies out there who get queasy just popping the hood. THANK YOU Green Drop (Central) crew for getting me and the Iron Biscuit on the road again! We’ll be back!
PLEASE do not bring your car here. I do not want anyone to have the terrible experience that we had at green drop garage. We brought our honda Civic in for front brakes. The salesman working the front was pleasant at first. He looked at our car and quoted us $1200 .. for brakes!!! Not to mention quoted $220 for a spark plug!!!! Outlandish. We obviously weren't going to pay that insane price. We asked him to put the wheels back on so we could go. He became very pushy and said "the tires are already off you might as well just get the brakes done, I shouldn't even let you leave" etc etc. They also lost our keys and charged us $36 for that ridiculous quote. Do not make our mistake- don't go here! Edit: I was 100% a customer here, although I wish I hadn't been. You gave me a kombucha while you sprayed oil on my breaks then proceeded to charge me $36. I wish I would have read the reviews before I came because it's clear by your unprofessional and disrespectful responses that you're a poor business owner.
Always friendly, fast, and thorough! Not to mention they're environmentally friendly, which should count for a lot these days. I have the Car Care Membership, and while their pricing can be on the expensive side, being a member is a fantastic deal when it comes to the basics (which includes unlimited oil changes, fluid top-offs, wiper and bulb replacements, tire rotations, complete vehicle inspection with notes/pictures, etc). It's more than worth the $15 a month it costs, as long as you visit regularly, like a good car owner should . So, if their inspection reveals other problems, simply take it somewhere else for that specific work. (Keep in mind that they don't offer the same membership deal if you use the car for Lyft/Uber.) Not sure about other locations, but the Central one is great about working around busy schedules, as they're willing to leave your car in their parking lot across the street if you can't pick it up before they close for the day (and they shut/lock the front gate).
I have always had older cars that have needed work in my 20 years of driving. Finding a mechanic that doesn't discount my input or talk down to me for being female has been far and few between. Not only have I never felt discounted, Green Drop has been honest about repairs. This last visit was due to a leak that looked like both oil and transmission fluid. We knew we needed transmission repairs done previous to this visit and figured it was time to take it in and get it done. We were quotes for oil gasket and pan replacement, transmission mount and gasket, amongst other things. We got a call that upon further inspection and UV tests they didn't think the oil pan needed done and we should drive another 500 miles and come back in for a check. They could have just proceeded with all the repairs that we approved but prevented us from spending additional money that might not be nessecary at this time. This is just one example of many of why I will continue to go to Green Drop for repairs.
Not a fan. They come across as being very approachable and easy to schedule with etc- the people are pretty friendly so I give them that. But I wouldn’t fall for it or trust them with any mechanic work again. I won’t go into my saga but it involved having a whole new issue with my car because of a faulty part they installed, extremely confusing and misleading explanations, lack of taking accountability for mistakes off the bat, failure to go back and check their own work but instead just diagnosing new problems, ridiculously high prices. They quoted me ~$3000 for a part that I paid $850 for at a shop down the road. Tried to get me to agree to it by literally telling me that my car “runs like shit”. They did end up paying for some of the transportation costs I had from the time when the car was in the shop for weeks after their mistakes, which was appreciated. Though it was only after I emailed a few times. There are much more affordable AND more experienced mechanics nearby.
Was in after getting a membership to have them look at a couple things. I told them where the 3 problems were and they proceeded to take 3 hours to check out 2 obvious problems (that should take from 5-20 minutes to diagnose) and 1 harder problem (maybe an hour to an hour and a half to diagnose). After charging $180 per hour to diagnose (their going rate) they quoted me about 2,000 in repair costs! The car is worth about 1500...Long story short I took it to an actual mechanic who fixed the whole thing for less than 400. I get that they are a "premium" service but charging about 5x the actual cost of the repairs? Give me a break. Gave them a 2nd star because even though they would not rebate the diagnostic cost they did reach out on their own to check on me after. Good people, probably good mechanics, terrible value NOT at all worth it. I would use them for the oil changes and light changes ONLY.
Green drop went above and beyond to ensure a problem I was having with my car was fixed, I cannot thank them enough. My 2007 toyota camry hybrid battery was replaced at their garage in 2017. Unfortunately due to the brand of the battery, I had many subsequent problems. Green drop helped me at every step of the way whenever I had problems with this battery. Most recently I took my car in with another hybrid battery problem, and Michael and Gina, worked with the manufacturer of the battery company to get me a brand new one free of charge. I was outside my battery warranty, and they put so much extra effort and time in to ensure I got a new, better, battery free of charge to me. Michael really worked with the manufacturer to ensure I don't have any more hybrid battery problems. I am so grateful to them and all the help they have provided. Couldn't say enough great things about this company.
I definitely feel like this place ripped me off and wasted my time. They charged me $275 for “diagnostic testing” they didn’t even finish, couldn’t even tell me what all was wrong with my car, they had it for almost a week and did not even replace the tire I had asked them to. They replaced and fixed nothing. They acted like they would have to have my car for a month or more and it would be probably two grand or more to fix. I think this all happened because I am a woman and I said up front I don’t know anything about cars. I just took it back from them because I don’t have two grand or two months, so I didn’t have another option. Sure enough two months later it stops working completely, I have it towed somewhere else, they fix the car and tow it for $600 within two days. I have told everyone I know and my whole social media following not to go to Green Drop. 10/10 would not recommend.
This place is not worth the premium they charge. There are cheaper and better mechanics - and I've never before had one who installed a component incorrectly. GreenDrop did so three different times for me - at least they reimbursed me for the parts/multiple tows I had to get. The most recent instance was not securing a bracket bolt in my brake caliper that was installed. Within a month it had fallen out any my front brake didn't work - a serious safety issue. They didn't take much responsibility for that at all... Also, they say no questions asked on their unlimited subscriptions, but every time I go in for an oil change in advance of the mileage coming due (for a long road trip, safety check, etc.) they ask why I'm back. They haven't replaced my wipers even though I've asked them to several times. This is a greenwashed place. Not worth the premium they charge you.
Really professionally run shop, personable and responsive people, clear communication and work done well. As an example of their proactivity and aim to take care of customers, when service was competed during my last visit I bumped into their fence while backing my car out of their lot. I received a call from the service manager about 15 minutes later, offering to repair -- at their expense -- any damage I'd done to my car, because they said they should not have parked so close to the fence. This offer, in spite of this very minor mishap being much more my fault than theirs, I find very impressive. They're a bit on the expensive side, particularly because they charge in a largely "a la carte" model, and a couple times I've needed to go back a second time to get a job competed to my (exacting) standards, but I don't fault them for my being fussy.
My drop off time was 8:15am, but they were able to accommodate me when I got there at 8:00am. I have the monthly Car Care Membership for $18 a month and it is definitely worth it! For the past year that I have had this membership, I have only gone in 3 times for an oil change and regular maintenance. My oil changes at Toyota are normally $130 each time for synthetic oil. With the car care membership i unlimited oil changes and more! They change out my wipers each time. For my latest appointment, I've been having car troubles. My car was making this horrible screeching sound every morning that would wake the neighbors up. The guys at green drop were able to fix it by flushing out my break fluids and fixing the gasket! It was an additional $235 on top of the monthly $18, but I never felt at all that these guys are Green Drop are ripping me off.
We've been customers of Green Drop's for years, so now seems like a good time for a more recent review! We've been Car Care Members for the past couple of years and highly recommend the program. We recently had some recommended service done on both of our cars - it helps keep their staff working during this crisis and we get our needed repairs done. They picked up and dropped off our vehicles for us, arriving exactly when they said they would, and taking vital precautions to protect everyone's health including sanitizing our car prior to it's return. We consistently receive awesome customer service and know we're getting quality work done at a fair price. This is the only place we recommend to our friends and family. Plus, Farhad's email newsletters are pretty rad and usually contain at least one Dad Joke.
I couldn't have broken down in front of a better shop. I was trying to sell my 2002 VW Eurovan and after I finished showing it, I couldn't start it. They came down and diagnosed it and had it fixed within a day. Did I mention I was trying to sell it with a bad transmission, was taking a huge loss on it, and the closest place I could find to rebuild the transmission was in Bend. I happened to mention this to the shop manager and he said we could do it! They rebuilt it AND did it for half the cost of the worst case scenario the shop in Bend quoted me. Great people, their online update system ROCKS, and the quality of their work is fantastic. If I didn't just sell my van and bought a new vehicle I'd definitely be taking advantage of their basic maintenance membership plan. Highly recommend.
Service was great, it was quick and they went above and beyond. I had a coupon code that wasn't working so I just left it and signed up without it, the owner emailed me personally and told me he would get the issue fixed, I was so impressed with that. Their customer service in the shop was great, they were very friendly and explained everything they had done. They also attached an invoice after the service was done which was great! I really love being able to pay monthly and get oil changes whenever I need, the price is so reasonable it makes it easy to take my car in. They don't have a waiting room so I would plan some other activity or have someone with you if you don't want to stay in that area, there are good restaurants and cafes close though!
Green Drop has devised a very comprehensive model for managing automotive concerns. It is quite unique, it is sustainable, and it works. Vehicles and owners are treated with respect. Diagnostic tools focus on what is essential, and costs are well within community standards. You will be amazed at how trust grows when transparency is practiced The added benefit of an annual membership provides no cost small services which are money saving. If Ethics has been an issue in prior vehicle care, you will be amazed at the high ethical standards utilized at Green Drop. If you value optimizing environmental vehicle care, Green Drop will reassure you as we transition to walking, riding bicycles, skating and using boards with wheels.
If you go to Green Drop Garage to have ANYTHING done to your vehicle, don't fall for the "Here, let me get you some coffee" and the "Let's be best friends" routine before they quote you that outrageous price. If they tell you your tires are already off so you should let them do the work and just pay that hefty price, ask yourself if these seem like hard-sell tactics used in the sales industry to close deals. How will you know? Easy. Tell them you want a second opinion from another garage. A reputable business won't have a problem with that, and would likely even encourage it. If they come up with a reason why you shouldn't, then there's your sign.
I brought my car here after it suffered a catastrophic failure. The mechanics at this garage immediatly understood and respected the emotional value this car had for me and treated me like family. Thier online system for communicating diagnostics and pricing was so helpful and efficient. They helped me make the best decision for my own finances and transportation needs while being very flexible to my schedule and needs. In the time that my car was at this garage I interacted with four different members of the team and all of them were incredibly friendly and passionate about their jobs. I'll definitly continue to use this garage in the future.
This shop is amazing because first of all it's ECO-friendly! I had amazing customer service right off the bat. Can't recall his name but the office worker gave a thorough explanation about the monthly membership they encourage - which provides light replacements, fluid fill ups, small maintences for only $15/month. I drive my car 40hrs/week and subscribed to the $25/month which is already so much better than what I've been paying with jiffy lube or going to Orielys and doing it myself. Got an oil change, brake fluid, windshield wipers replaced for a total of $136. Super fast, easy service. Will make another review for the next visit
I get my oil changed with Green Drop Garage. Their service gets a 5 star because, they perform full vehicle check (fluids leaks, engine, brakes, wipers replaced, all exterior lights etc) everytime I get oil changed. And if any repairs are needed they recommend them accordingly. This gives me peace of mind to ensure there isnt anything out of place and everything is screwed tight (so to speak) every few months, and I dont have to take it to a separate mechanic. Pricing is competitive for repair works; I called a few places before getting my repairs done by Green Drop for equal or lesser cost.
I took my car to Green Drop after I had a bad experience with my VW dealership. I felt like I was being overcharged at the dealership and had a friend recommend Green Drop to have a 2nd opinion. They were so great. They talked me through everything they were going to check on and ended up finding the problem was something entirely different than what the dealership had told me. It was a 1/3 of the cost to fix as what was originally quoted at the dealership! The guys at the shop were amazing, great customer service and made me feel valued as a customer. I'll go back here everytime.
I always feel taken care of by the folks at Green Drop. It's easy to schedule appointments and they're friendly and welcoming. Recently I had a part replaced in my car that I thought was going to be very expensive, but they were able to find a deal on the part and the whole job ended up costing half of what I originally thought it would. If I ever need to take my car back for an issue that they've already worked on, any additional work they do is never charged to me. Recently they even fixed a part of my car preventatively to (hopefully) prevent an issue from reoccurring.
I have to give a BIG thanks to Niko and the boys at Green Drop. My husband and I were visiting Portland for our anniversary. Just as we drove into town, the check engine light on my car turned on. After trying three different mechanics, none of whom seemed legitimate, we found Niko and Green Drop Garage. Instead of putting us over a barrel knowing we were from out of town and mechanically inept, they took such good care of us and had our car fixed and back to us that same day. If I were to ever need service while in Portland, I would most definitely go back.
Didn’t confirm with me what was going on before going forward with repairs, and when I went to pick up my car, I was told I would ‘have a hard time not sleeping at night’ if I didn’t pay for the repairs that I didn’t approve of. This was especially frustrating because I specifically voiced beforehand that if it was going to be above $200, then I couldn’t go forward any repairs. I ended up draining my savings account (in tears) to pay them, only to find out a few days later they didn’t even fix the problem. Complete waste of $1000+ :(
I'm a member of Green Drop's service program, and I love it. I drive a 2004 Honda with nearly 200k miles on it, so I've needed some repairs. I find the pricing reasonable and the customer service is superb. I have found their advice and recommendations to be reasonable and haven't felt pressured or taken advantage of in any of my visits. I trust that my car is in good hands with their mechanics. I also love the company's ethical approach to doing business. They're awesome folks, and I'm happy to give them my money.
These folks were super professional and nice. I also work in a service-oriented setting and I really appreciate their professionalism and hospitality. I had requested a front-end alignment and nothing else, even though I knew I would need some other services soon. True to their word, they did just what I asked, and respectfully provided a list of things I should take care of soon, without a pushy attitude about it. I'll continue to go to them for all the services I don't want to do myself!
I used to work as a mechanic, so I'm both easy and not easy as a customer. I'm easy in that I know what needs to be done and don't hesitate to pay for it. I'm not easy in that I'm going to notice anything weird or wrong or out of place of if the shop isn't clean or properly lit or the general attitude of the managers or mechanics doesn't smell right. This is a good shop and they do good work and they don't charge insane money for it. So far, I really like them.
Great experience! Since 2021, Green Drop Garage on SE 9th Ave. has serviced my older Toyota a couple of times. I greatly appreciate their honesty, communication and explanations - nicely laid out/comprehensive repair reports, very thorough inspections/repairs, and patience (there were two of us to discuss repairs, costs and schedule with). I also appreciate how nicely they clean up/prepare my vehicle for pickup. I trust their advice and work and recommend them.
I've been going to Green Drop since moving to Portland in '2012. I have been to all but one of their locations since that time. Today, I worked with both Nathan and Conrad (at the 'Central' location) and they were outstanding. Caleb and the rest of the team are gems as well. And the service provided has been consistently reliable. I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else for automotive repair/maintenance. I highly recommend them to anyone.
I ended up with car problems on a road trip in Portland, and these guys didn't hesitate to help me out even though it was just 20 minutes before close before a holiday weekend. In fact, they immediately diagnosed it as a quick fix, fixed it, and refused any payment. We were so impressed with their fast, generous, and honest service on a day when we thought we would be stuck without help until the end of the holiday weekend. Thank you, Conrad!
My tire went flat and after calling multiple local shops and getting the run around Conrad assured me he could help me with my flat tire in a timely manor. They replaced my tire and I was back in the road in an hour. Ive been recommending green drop garage to my family and friends ever since. Thank you so much Conrad, and your team for the high level service and positive attitude. I will keep you guys in mind for my future repairs.
I cannot recommend Green Drop Garage enough! I love coming here. They always do a great job, the system to set up appointments and stay updated are very streamlined, and to top it all off- everyone that works here is super friendly. As someone who knows nothing about cars, it can be intimidating to take my car to garage. But at Green Drop, I feel like I am just talking to neighbors in my community :) Thank you Green Drop!
I've been a grateful customer for several years. Green Drop always provides quality and thorough services. They have gone out of their way to assist me when I had trouble with my vehicle and have made excellent referrals to body shops in Portland. I will be moving out of Oregon in the next few months and will be sad to leave such a great garage. Thank you for everything you've done to keep my car working at its best.
Nice guys at the front, complimentary coffee coupon given. My only issue was that I paid 120.00 for an oil change that I thought included new wiper blades(mine were streaking), and a new EAF (mine is not horribly dirty, but replaceable in my opinion). I think the service should include these services regardless, at least for the 120.00. Just my two cents. Other than that, good customer service. Good oil change.
My car battery died and the folks at Green Drop were able to jump my very dead battery (my car was in a precarious parking spot at the time) so I could drive to the shop to get the battery replaced. The battery was replaced the same day! I've been to green drop for a few oil changes and to get a cabin air filter replaced as well. This was truly exceptional service. I'd recommend them to anyone.
I can't say enough good things about this place! This is the first place I have taken my car where I truly feel like I can trust their judgement. They are always so kind and helpful. My mirror was smashed a few weeks ago and the silver lining to having to get it fixed what knowing that I get to spend a little bit of my day at Green Drop. I love supporting this business! They are wonderful!
I lived in Portland for just shy of two years. I took both my Toyota Tacoma and my wife's Honda CR-V to the Green Drop MLK location. Caleb and the crew there took excellent care of us every time. Their Care Care service plan is a fantastic value and I would highly recommend it to anyone in Portland. If we weren't moving out of state I would stick with these guys indefinitely. Thanks y'all!
Went in for inner tie rod replacement, they ended up doing the outer as well at no charge. While waiting I mentioned that my radio had been locked due to dead battery and the woman at the counter went to extra lengths to crawl behind the radio and find my serial number and reset my radio while the rest of the work was being done. Also their $15/month oil change plan is well worth it.
It's honestly the best auto shop I've ever had the pleasure of engaging with. I've taken my car to Green Drop for over ten years and they have always done an impeccable job. Best of all- I can trust them. They've never tried to upsell me anything or tried to con me into a repair I don't need. Thank you, Green Drop, for continuing to take care of all of my auto needs!
This is an auto shop that is extremely trustworthy. They do good work, and they take pride in it. They take photos of your car to show what needs to be done, and what they have fixed. Last time I had my car worked on, they have me a coupon for a free coffee at a nearby coffee shop. I had a pleasant experience working remotely as Green Drop fixed my vehicle.
I was introduced to Green Drop when I DJ'd an event for the grand opening of their Uptown location. When employees are "off duty" it can be important indicator on how a business functions. The sense of community and camaraderie at the party was awesome. I am now a loyal customer and I am never disappointed in the service...Customer & Auto!
Great service- changed oil, topped off all car fluids, and thoroughly inspected and noted all needed repairs and upcoming maintenance for my older high-milage Honda. Extremely thorough and detailed. Calculated the membership price for routine oil changes and decided it was a price that couldn’t be beat and well worth it for my car’s needs.
Always a great experience at Green Drop! From the friendly customer service to the transparency on the work they are doing with detailed updates sent to my phone during my service. Not to mention going out of their way to save me money on repairs. Thank you! If you do not have the subscription to Green Drop, I highly recommend getting it.
Great customer service however my oil change price was a bit over the top in my opinion. I paid around $120 for an oil change for a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. That's a bit steep for an oil change. I was really due for one and was on a schedule crunch therefore I sucked it up but I definitely wouldn't do it again.
Do not pay or sign up for the roadside assistance plan! I made the mistake of paying for it. Its been nothing but problems! I broke down with 2 kids in the car only to find out they cancelled my plan without telling me. It was paid in full not behind and was never told bit emailed my plan was canceled. It's a scam!
I came into Green Drop because my car had a multitude of issues with the vacuum hoses, oil, wipers etc. I have gotten quotes before from my dealer and other mechanics but Jake and Green Drop not only walked me through everything that was going on, he gave me such a lower price and the service was fantastic.
Been using Green Drop For sometime. Nice employees. No upsell garbage to deal with. They get the job done right and stand by it. We'll be back. (I visited a major company (rhymes with "Mess Swab") for brake replacement, their quote was $250+ more than what I paid Green Drop for my brakes and oil change)
Great service from these folks. I get my maintenance done at the MLK shop, but when the car got broken into and the steering/ignition was tampered with, they set me up with an appointment at the main shop in SE, and they handled the repairs very quickly and for. fraction of the cost of the dealership.
What an automotive shop should be.... only needed emergency tire replacement but end of day and the chain tire shop around corner couldn't be bothered. They helped, showed me the odd hole in the almost new tire that had to be replaced and were so courteous and helpful. 5 star!
I went in for an oil change and brake job. I asked them to diagnose an intermittent rattle and instead of trying to sell me something I don't need they diagnosed and told me honestly that it is just my splash guard slightly rattling. The honesty and good service can't be beat!
PreSale Inspection: Easily scheduled, friendly service, comprehensive report with estimates, texted and emailed documentation. Price was a bit higher than other garage but they were open on Saturdays when other garages are not. Plus they are eco-friendly. I would recommend!
I had a good experience with Green Drop. The people working there are friendly and knowledgeable. My car had an extremely unusual issue, but they managed to diagnosis it. In the end the repairs were more than I could afford, but I was still satisfied with the work they did.
So grateful for the cheerful, thorough, trustworthy and accommodating crew at Green Drop Garage. Thank you Dan and Niko for making it a shop I can count on; that if things don't go just right the first time you'll be sure to make it better than my previous expectations.
I used to spend way more at the quick lube places. I signed up for their membership a year ago, and have had three oil changes and two fluid top offs plus they replaced my window wipers! Totally worth the yearly membership cost. I am definitely continuing my membership.
Fantastic service!! I showed up on the wrong day for my appt to get a headlight replaced but the staff fixed me up right away, checked my fluid levels, and just could not have been friendlier or more professional. What a lovely experience. Thanks so much.
I was visiting from out of state and needed the fluid levels checked and tires checked before leaving on my return trip to Kansas! The attendant was friendly and professional and I was not charged one penny! Thank you for the great service! Kathy
Caleb and his team got us in quick and we’re able to do our service efficiently and quickly. They also let us know about a few issues in a non pushy way. We are so grateful for them! Would come back in a heartbeat!
I've been a customer for 7 years. Love the oil change subscription service. They always do a great job on my car and have even come in significantly under their price estimate before.
What an amazing garage! They were so friendly and able to help us get back on the road last minute. I can’t recommend this place enough! Thank you so much.
If anything call and listen to the daily Dad joke! (Option 5) It will bring up your spirits Lol! I wish more companies did things like that.
They fix my car perfect every time, with their help I'm able to restore this car into a newer motor and parts when it needs it...
They repaired my flat tire quickly and were very helpful. They are trustworthy and honest. Caleb did a great job helping me out!
Friendly, fast, transparent. I feel safe, in control, and know my car is well cared for here. Thanks for the awesome service!
Clear communication, great customer service. Feeling more secure driving my ancient Prius after thorough service.
