"Absolutely disgusting with this vet clinic"
I am not impressed with what transpired on August 16th and the following weeks. The vet could not confidently express his medical opinions and everything ended in "maybe". This leading me to believe he is "green" and still finding his confidence in certain areas, which I completely understand, it just wasn't helpful at the time. I am also fully aware that there are no definitive answers and I was not looking for one. I was looking for information to make an informed decision about the medical treatment vs euthanasia of my pet and unfortunately, that decision came down to my best educated guess with the little information I had, gut feeling and talking it out with friends who are also in rescue. However, the above is not the main reason I am giving a one star review. My one star review comes from the fact I decided to trust Greencross with the cremation of my pet. This was a mistake. I organised and paid for everything before leaving the clinic. On the 24th I rang the clinic to get an update and was told that her ashes hadn't been returned yet and that it could take two weeks. On the 31st I rang and was told that her ashes weren't yet returned and that it could take two weeks, which I informed the staff member that it had already been two weeks and she then changed it to it could be three weeks, however she offered to ring Eden Hills on my behalf, which I declined and said I would ring them myself. After speaking with Eden Hills, I discovered that Greencross never booked the cremation of my pet. I then had to ring Greencross back at which the staff member started going through all their records for bookings, as well as my pets file which resulted in them admitting, the cremation had never been booked. Further to this, I had to ask them to follow up and confirm that they even still had my pets body. I received a phone call 40 minutes later confirming they still had my pets body (who knows if this was even true) and that the cremation had been booked and they were “sorry for the delay”. I asked for a phone call confirmation to confirm my pets body had been collected, I never received one. Eden Hills went above and beyond to fix Greencross’ mess. Aside from calling me and keeping me in the loop every step of the way, they marked the pick up as urgent, the cremation as urgent and arranged to have my pets ashes delivered directly to my house so I didn’t need to go back to the clinic. They had my pet back to me the morning of 04th September. In future, I will be avoiding Greencross to the best of my ability. If there is a situation where I have no choice to use them for an emergency euthanasia, I will not be leaving my pet or foster with them for cremation as I cannot trust them.
3 weeks ago our beloved 15 year old Jack Russell, Tass passed away unexpectedly. After 24 hours of normal to downhill, she stopped breathing & we rushed her to the Greencross Vet while I gave her CPR. On arrival when I ran in with her body, the staff initially responded quickly & rushed her in, but from then onwards I am appalled with how we were treated. We were taken into a private room & informed that she had passed away. We requested to see her & say goodbye. TWO MINUTES after they brought her body in, a staff member came in with an already printed invoice of $400 and put an EFTPOS machine right next to her still WARM body?? In absolute shock & disbelief at the insensitivity of the situation, I paid the bill & said our goodbyes. We opted to collect her body the next day for burial, and I desperately asked for a paw print of my fur baby, and was told by a nurse that she would do it then & let me take it before leaving. 10 minutes after that, another nurse came in asking why we were “still there” and that I should “just know that they’re very busy and I should probably just leave & get the print tomorrow.” So we left. The next morning at 9AM I called asking if the prints were ready? They weren’t. FIVE hours later I called again saying I was coming in 15 minutes to collect her body & were the prints ready? Again, no. When I arrived staff stalled me repeatedly asking her name and the kind of animal I was collecting. They then carried her frozen body through a busy foyer out in a bag, along with a very rough print that had just been done. Could they not have provided some kind of privacy for me to collect her, or cardboard box for my baby? I have attached a comparison where you can still see the wet ink. I had to have a family member help me create new prints when I got home which was an incredibly upsetting experience. For what was already a highly distressing time for my partner and I, I am incredibly disappointed at the lack of sensitivity and compassion, from what I expected to be one of the best vets in the west.
"We had forgotten about Arnold as he was under another dog in the freezer" Arnold was the name of our 18 year old family dog who sadly passed away recently. We had sought the assistance from Greencross Vet Hospital to help our boy pass without pain. We opted to go through them for the cremation service of which we were told would take between 5 - 7 business days. The service & care up to this point was heartwarming. Fast forward 2 weeks and we hadn't heard anything. I began calling every couple of days to find out what the delay was. After 3 weeks had past, the tone of my tune changed and instead of asking when things would be happening I started to ask what was happening. I received a call from the receptionist telling me that they "had forgotten about Arnold as he was in the freezer under a bigger dog". To say I felt sick was an understatement. I could almost feel my heart leave my body. The guilt, disbelief & disappointment was so overwhelming that I began having a panic attack. I then called Greencross back & received the same staff member on the phone, when asking her "What do I tell my family" she replied with "I don't know, it wasn't me that did it". I drove immediately to Greencross to pick up my dog Arnold who had been sitting in their freezer for weeks, unable to be at peace. After seeing the distress in my body one of the Vets helped me walk him to my car. To the 2 ladies that helped me, thankyou. I drove to Laverton Vet Clinic where they helped us give Arnold the afterlife he deserved. 2 days later the SAME receptionist who told me that Arnold was under a bigger dog called me the refund my money. I will hear her voice in my worst dreams, the pain you caused my family is beyond repair & I will never forgive Greencross Vet Hospital for what they did to our boy & our Family.
My dog had a blood test and ultrasound last Thursday due to abnormal pain in the abdomen and harden belly. Dr. BEE told me my dog needs to check the kidney and pancrease conditions by blood test. The blood test results will take a day, because It will send to another hospital so someone will contact me once they got the results. But friday no one contacted me. Sat and Sunday they are open for the only emergency so I just wait till monday. On monday, I contacted the reception, and then the receptionist said maybe the result is not ready yet. Once they got the result, someone would contact me. Tuesday, I made another phone call. The receptionist said she would send an email to Dr. Bee to follow up on Wednesday because She is off on Tuesday. On Wednesday still no one contacted me On Thursday, I made another phone call to reception. She also told me she would pass the note to Dr. Bee. Finally, I got a test result today. Fortunately, my dog condition is get better, and blood test results are all good. But I feel very uncomfortable. Because Dr Bee didn't explain anything about delayed results and just acting like there no problem. If my dog wasn't in good condition, 7 days would have enough time to get worsening the condition. Blood test took a day but due to poor communication and neglect of follow up, the results took 6 more days. It was around $1600 service, I felt it is worth it if my dog have right treatment and medical support, but the quality of care wasn't enough. If the blood test wasn't necessary, Dr. Bee shouldn't ask me to to it. If it was necessary, she have to check the blood test results and follow-up as soon as the results available. It was my first experience with Greencross hospital and I am so disappointed.
Absolutely disgusting with this vet clinic. My friends had just lost their dog and they were given 2 minutes alone with the dog to say their goodbye before having someone come in with an eftpos machine so that they could pay. My friend had to beg for the vet to do some paw prints for her as a keepsake for her beloved dog, who agreed. Then 10 minutes later has another staff member go in and question why they were still there. When she told the staff member what they were waiting for she was told that they were busy and to come back the next day. She called at 9 am the next day to see if the dog and the prints were ready to be collected when she was told that the prints hadn’t been Done yet. She then called 5 hours after to let them know that they were on their way to collect their dog and they asked if they had done the prints which they hadn’t. When she got to the clinic they stalled her for over 30 minutes from being able to collect her dog and they bought out a rough paw print that was still wet as it was fresh and their dog frozen in a plastic bag. Absolutely disgusted in the treatment the staff gave to their customers after loosing a beloved family pet of over 15 years. You guys need training in how to deal with grieving family’s. How hard is it to have a little bit of compassion.
Bit of a mixed bag here and hoping they’ll improve as their experience as a team grows. Most of the vets I dealt with in emergency were wonderful, they absolutely saved my big girl’s life. Dr Liam in particular was a delight to deal with, so very empathetic and really thorough in explaining things, clearing up misconceptions that I’d had and was super patient with my hundreds of concerns, and I can’t be more appreciative, he was the perfect person to be dealing with the icu patients’ families. I did have some difficulty on the admin side of things. Specifically with the empathy of a some folk in reception and either lack of knowledge, or unwillingness to provide solutions around the whole insurance/vet gap only/ pre approval, and their lack of empathy in regards to mistakes they’d made in admin meaning I suddenly had to come up with a much larger sum than expected at discharge to claim back later. Some of those in reception have been lovely and very helpful, but it’s not universal .
I wish I could do 0 stars because they don’t even deserve one. This is the worst vet i’ve ever been too. My family took our dog here as he was extremely unwell and not himself, he was in extreme pain. They admitted him and kept him over night, gave him no pain medicine or anything. They had no idea what was wrong with him, but rather cared how much everything was going to cost to do all the tests. This place does not care about ur pets, everything is to do with money. I understand money is somewhat important, but how about you worry about the pets health and well-being ( which is your job)! When we mentioned not having 6000 up front, they said we need to go to another vet and they wouldn’t be able to help him. My poor baby ended up having a tumour in his brain and died two days later. He was in so much pain and they were so dismissive of him because he was still eating and wagging his tail? I have never had such a bad experience and will never be returning!!!
First time using Greencross in Werribee, and I might add will be the last. Might seem like an over reaction but I am bitterly disappointed. Took my staffy there when she was limping badly. She had an ACL op some 5 months ago, and I feared the worst. I decided to try a local vet as the other vet (which I was very happy with) is over one and a half hours drive from here. Was very impressed by how professional Greencross was and what a wonderful facility, but that's where it stops, I'm afraid. Initial consultation (slightly wrong prognosis) plus pain killer medicine came to $154. Initial quote for X Rays was between $800 - $900 which shocked me to the core.... Needless to say I went back to my other vet .... X RAYS at my other vet came to around $300 including consultation ... These facilities lose sight of who their customers are and don't offer solutions other that the money making type !!!
To all my Neighbours, i strongly recommend Grencross Vets. They helped us Monday night when Tiny my Chiodle dog hurt her back leg chasing Cefa our Black kitten. Tiny clipped her back leg on the corner of the wall. She was yelping. We arrived and felt very welcomed. But i was stressed and upset, the lady at the reception was so kind and lovely. The leg looked broken but it's not than goodness. Just a bruised leg. She had made her leg worse by the impact. Now Tiny has to rest and less exercise. She has to have inflammatory medication. To help with her pain. I also work for Petbarn so sk for Rachael. We offer heaps of discounts and freedom feeders, which are more discounts and cheaper online prices, and price matches. Greencross are amazing and kind and friendly
Brought my 3 year old Rottweiler presenting symptoms of ‘bloat’ after assess her I was told it wasn’t, that there was fluid build up in her stomach. Quoting me almost $4,500 for tests just to find out what’s wrong with her. Not going for that option I was given the option of an injection and sone tablets, agreeing to this after leaving the hospital by the time I got home almost 30 minutes later she was DEAD! Call the hospital back only to be offered a cremation service which would have to be paid for? I couldn’t believe the lack of sensitivity or the reasoning provided for her sudden death I would never ever present my pets to an emergency vet again!!! This is my personal opinion!
The hoops we had to jump through to get updates about our dog were beyond a joke. I understand emergencies happen; but when a dog is admitted due to an emergent situation, it stands to reason that updates would be apart of the astronomical fee. Now, calling in the morning we learn absolutely nothing new; that the procedure he was admitted for nearing twelve hours ago still hasn’t been completed, and he’s not improving because he’s not eating - all facts we were told yesterday, and we’re also told would be combatted with a feeding tube - something they’re now ringing to do today. An absolute joke of an experience thus far.
The Vets at GreenCross are very lovely and show a lot of compassion for your pets. It is just a shame that for the most part, after your consultation, you have to then deal with certain receptionists that work here. Every single vet has been kind and wonderful; the same cannot be said for every receptionist. I have been hung up on multiple times and spoken to with not even the slightest hint of compassion. It is at the point now, that I recognise their voice on the phone and choose whether or not I continue the call. I should not, as a customer, have to do something like this.
Staff very friendly & tien one of the male vets who saw our male & female kittens were very friendly & amazing how much he loved them both. I have since had my little 6 month old male kitten into the emergency department diagnosed with Spinal meningitis & we were very lucky to meet Doctor Liam, this vet is the most amazing vet & bloke in performing a miracle in looking after my little boy. After medication both liquid and tablets. He is now very much on the road to recovery. I would so recommend this veterinary practice to everyone. Very very happy customer Karen
The hospital handled end of life proceedings for my cat with compassion, kindness and dignity. I was able to donate Amaran's body to the University studies for post mortem learning which seemed like a very worthwhile final gesture from her Thx Dr Adrian Witham & other attending staff. Being provided with her paw prints was a touching memorial. A Feliway diffuser was in the cat treatment room that we were in but wasn't actually used during our visit. Well organised reception area with separate areas for dogs and cats to minimise distress.
Would rather give 0 stars so disappointed in the treatment my sister has gotten from this vet they just want your money they have no compassion for you or your animals! You hardly hear from them when they have your pet for updates but when they want there money there all of the sudden not busy and have all the time in the world for you! It's breaking my heart to see my sister grieve while they give her hell!
I can't thank the team enough for their support and care that they provided for our pup Lily. After quite a scare we ended up in Emergency where Lily stayed for 2 nights. The staff were wonderful, so caring and supportive. They never hesitated whenever we wanted to come and visit and they looked after our pup so well. We are so incredibly grateful and can't thank the team enough.
Wonderful staff highly experienced vets My fur baby had major surgery else where and when she came home she was in severe pain as her pain meds weren’t right. I took her to this hospital and experienced vet Selma after treating her had her coming out wagging her tail and is now home sleeping so she can heal I am so very grateful Thank you ❤️
We went to emergency yesterday with our bunny who had gone into GI Stasis. The Vet, Dr. Maija Hagman, and her team were very knowledgeable and caring considering the danger to our bunny’s life. With their help and advice our bun is now back to her normal self and her stomach is functioning well again. Thank you to your team for saving our baby!
These folks were amazing when I had a veterinary emergency with my elderly cat. Nothing was too much trouble, and we had easy access to a specialist veterinary dentist who was able to cater to the special clinical needs of my cat. Not cheap by any means, but the clinical care for Dixie and support for me were second to none!
Good luck getting an invoice. I spent over $8,000 in three days at Greencross Werribee and providing me with an invoice seems to be too hard. Greencross Werribee were very efficient at calculating the daily cost of my pets stay. Not so much in providing details of what they were actually charging me for.
Fantastic experience with our KCC Frankie . She got a scratch on her eye and Dr Sarah was lovely compassionate and helped our dog. The front reception was very friendly to everyone who walked through with their injured and sick animals . In an emergency I would go back there if my vet wasn't open.
Very professional. They helped my dog on a public holiday when she was very unwell. They were efficient, knowledgeable and communicated to me well as to options and progress with an emergency extraction from my dog’s digestive system. My dog is well again. Thank you Greencross …
A modern facility close to the Werribee hospital with sufficient parking and convenient opening times. My daughter managed to secure a visit/appointment the same day, the receptionists and vets were very friendly and professional. The consultation fee was reasonable in my opinion.
I can't and won't fault the staff there, but the pricing i was offered for dental surgery there ($3k) was ridiculous when i got a 2nd opinion from Laverton veterinary clinic, and got the work done, for around $950. Edit: It is a lovely clinic though, well thought out and clean.
Absolutely wonderful, caring nurses and vet!! Took my baby in today, they were so caring, knowledgeable and patient!! Highly recommended!! Lydia and Felicity not only looked after my dog but also knew how distressed I was and were just beautiful. Thankyou so much!!
How lucky are we to have such an amazing and caring team. I was lucky enough to meet nurse Taylah today. We had one girl for a nail clip, and we also picked missy beautiful up. Once again, the caring and compassion we were shown, just amazing Thank you so much ❤️
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the staff at UVet for taking such good care of our baby Chocky. A special shout out to Kadie, Hannah and the trainee vet nurse who helped him and loved him the whole way through. His prognosis before
I had the great fortune of meeting Dr “Rudi” two days ago. My Missy beautiful had started having seizures. ( Missy had her 16th birthday in July) Dr Rudi was just amazing, she was kind, caring, compassionate. She discussed everything with
I found out my cat is not pregnant which is good. The team were amazing and really friendly. They are definitely pet lovers. Best experience I've ever had at a veterinary clinic/hospital. I will be coming back here again in the future
2.5hr wait time for emergency room, consult room was unclean and pricing seemed high. The vet was knowledgeable, but didn't provide many options compared to our normal vet. Felt pressured to admit our pet and pay upwards of 2 grand.
Very quick to act in an emergency staff were caring and allowed us time to say our good byes before and after and still just as caring during the time it took to pay for cremation and collection of the ashes
Very rude receptionist on the phone and no empathy, seen the poor reviews but thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. Don’t bring your pet here they don’t seem to care at all about you or your pet.
Took my dog there once as she was having a little trouble walking down the steps at home. Could go up fine. Seemed to have a tender front paw. I couldn’t get her into our regular vets so we went there.
The most caring and amazing team, from the receptionist to Vet Nurses to the Vets. Each and every one at this facility went above and beyond to help my Dog, nothing was ever to much trouble .
Great practise. Appointments are advised but they do accept walk in emergencies. The staff and vets are really friendly approachable. Clean and friendly premises.
The staff here are very helpful and very friendly. Even though she was sick, my dog had a wagging tail and a smile on her face for the whole time we were there.
Amazing service and lovely staff so professional special mention to the specialist vet Alex who explained everything to me about my little girl snowy
Two young nurses wrestled my 70kg Great Dane for 30 minutes today to remove his staples, all with smiles on their faces. 10/10 for effort.
Excellent, professional friendly staff. It was lovely to finally find a vet who knew a lot about the French Bull Dog breed.
The vets are genuinely passionate about helping your pet. Students are respectful and polite.
