"I wouldn’t recommend using this funeral home my so called funeral director never helped with anything"
My fiancé recently held his mothers service at this location. I have to say, this place was not only disorganized in terms of communicating with family, the process was unclear. I had to serve as the IT person for the service because they lacked the ability to accommodate the family with a competent person to handle their antiquated system. My fiancé repeatedly asked the Grier Funeral Services for clarity on what was being done. He provided a step by step guide to follow so that there would be no hick-ups during the service. However, they failed to stream the complete service to the many family and friends that were not able to be in person at the service. The Grier Funeral Service home has lost all empathy towards suffering families. I feel that to them, it's just another service to get through. However to the families, its a moment to be able to properly send off their family member the way they had wished. I am appalled that when we asked what day she was cremated, we were given the wrong date. Therefore, any specific prayers and/ceremony that would have been done on cremation day, was missed. Stand clear from their services, when you are grieving, I feel they take advantage of that and paint you a pretty picture backed by the fact that they have been in business for many years. They need to understand that times are changing and they need to keep up with the times. They must understand that the needs of grieving families are the forefront and must be considered at all times. STAND CLEAR --- STAY AWAY!
I came to this funeral home thinking it would be a professional experience and it was nothing of that kind. The director Tracy was completely out of pocket. Not professional and disrespectful. She immediately came off as if she knew family issues and allowed her personal feeling to interfere with the professional relationship. I have never in all years heard of a director stating to a family (wife) at that. "I don't mean for this to come off disrespectful but maybe you shouldn't come. Followed by will payment be made today." I mean seriously wth does she think she is. I immediately followed her up with allow me to stop you there. If you start a sentence off with I don't mean to be disrespectful you know that's exactly what you are being. To tell a WIFE not to come to Her husband funeral is wild and unacceptable in my opinion. To allow others to over step legal boundaries is beyond what I would expect from a funeral home. I would never recommend this company as long as this dry wig alley cat coat wearing jive turkey woman is still employed there. If I could give -1 stars I would. Signed A concerned niece to the wife. I'll say what my aunt won't. I'm her mouth piece during this time of bereavement.
While you never want to “get to know” a funeral home too well…. I have had the unfortunate pleasure of having to do just that in the matter of two years. My mother and I lost my step dad in January of 2019 unexpectedly and she sought out a funeral service. This one stood out to her, and they were overly accommodating to her wishes which many may have found strange lol. They cremated my dad and we’re so professional. And the two weeks ago I lost my mom to a short battle of cancer and when asked where I’d like her to be taken I had no question - Greer felt like we’d known them after our first experience and I decided to have her taken their. Mr Humphries and his staff handled it all promptly, they didn’t try and upsell me for money and they were understanding. In fact I knew I wanted my mom to be “aquamated” not cremated and that is key new… he went to great lengths to reach out to another home in Kings Mountain who does that sort of service and they basically outsourced the procedure for us but handled it all and today I brought my mom home after her stay at Greer. Thank you sincerely you guys. More than 5 stars.
The service was beautiful. It clicked off at 4:10 but I saw most of it. Save a program for me if you can. I know!!! SMH... I kept trying to refresh it but it was cut short The memorial was lovely. I was wondering why it abruptly shut off. I'm sorry. They should have explained that . Knowing that these are extenuating circumstances. With over 15 emails back and forth to make sure this service was perfect for our mother and our 1 brother who could not see my mother due to CovId at the hospital or attend the memorial; it was also cut short for him as well. I was then informed the recording I asked for him would be cut short as well like the live stream. The above are a few of the messages I got from loved ones and family members. I was also given a date of my mothers cremation by the funeral director to find out on the certificate actually showed an earlier date smh i reached out to Grier and they could care less.
I wouldn’t recommend using this funeral home my so called funeral director never helped with anything. All I can remember him helping me with is wiping out most of my mothers insurance policy. I never seen him the day of the viewing or the day of the service. I was told I would be able to approve of my mothers body before she was put on display and that never happened. Her makeup and hair was rushed and thrown together just a complete rush job. I walked in and she was out for everyone to see before I got there. My family was already going through so much loosing my mother during the holidays and they started lining bodies up outside her viewing room and I had to ask someone to move them. Completely unprofessional and I wish I had time to look at other funeral homes this was a big regret, the viewing area is cheap outdated and they had several bodies in the same area.
Mr. Jones took exceptional care of my husband who passed in 2019. When my mother passed on February 2nd I thought of no one else to call but Grier funeral service. Mr. Jones listens and immediately goes into action. He heard my concerns for music the ambience that was important to me to represent my mother. He made a very difficult and challenging time for me and my family seamless. It was a beautiful ceremony. I'm thankful to the drivers, Pastor Kelly for an uplifting and moving message to me and my family. Roz who created the brochure and everyone involved in making my mother's celebration of life a blessing. God bless you and thank you.
Our experience with Grier was very favorable. The steps were explained and the staff did not skip a beat in their process. If you are looking for fancy, extravagant, over the top services with a company that could care less, don’t bother here. If you are looking for a funeral home that is compassionate, honest, clear and responsive with communication, true to their word, and professional then Grier Funeral Service will take care of you and your loved ones.
Mr. Jones and other staff members were courteous, professional, sympathetic and a pleasure to work with. Mr. Jones went above and beyond to make sure my grandmother was pleased with the home going service of my grandfather, and he made us smile even in the midst of so much heartache and pain. The minister didn't know my grandfather, but somehow he managed to personalize the service a bit, which also made us smile. Thank you Grier for everything!!!!
Grier assisted my family through one of the hardest moments preparing for our mom's celebration of life service. They were exactly what we needed and will forever be grateful for their time, patience, kindness, and transparency. The staff member "Ms. Tracey" is FANTASTIC, may the blessing of our father continue to shower you and those you love. Mrs. Ivey/Mrs. Perkins (Adams family)
Mr humphrey was a very nice and very professional person. He helped us thru everything with sending my cousin back to mexico and not only that but he helped me look up an address to the funeral home in mexico. If it was not for him and the staff i don't know if we would have ever made it thru this difficult time. I recommend the company 100%.
Thank you for the great natural looking job you did preparing my son's body. I appreciate your professionalism and attention to details;you partnered with Brandon Funeral Services to ensure the flight was arranged, paid for and flight details provided timely so the out-of-state funeral services were conducted as scheduled.
They provide the most professional Services available in funeral services in Charlotte North Carolina. The staff is always well-dressed and the chapel was very nice for my cousin's funeral. We really appreciate the warm welcome and Reverend Humphrey is always delightful and greet you with a smile.
Setup camera for virtual funeral was facing the wrong way. Then funeral apparently went over and so before being able to see the final farewells the stream just shut off. All of us at this home watching feels like we still missed it. Disappointing.
Excellent service from the beginning to the end. Made me feel personally safe and reassured in caring for my mom. Staff remained professional and supportive. Thanks with sincere gratitude.
