Griggs Park is beautifully maintained. Its expansive green space is perfect for a picnic or a game of toss or tag. Doggie poop bags are provided for those dog walkers who may run out while in the park. The children's play ground has safe updated equipment. The surrounding neighborhood is classy and the area is rich with Dallas history. Take some time and read the monument that honors Rev. Griggs and details some of the historical significance of the area. The park offers many activities throughout the year including yoga in the park, movie night, concerts, and a huge friendsgiving celebration in November. The park has plenty of walking paths and is well lit and safe. The views of downtown are spectacular and breath taking photo opportunities abound. If you haven't been to Griggs Park, you are in for a treat!
Playground
Safe, up to date equipment. Slides, swings, climbing apparatuses. Plenty of seating from which to watch your children.
I’ve walked the State/Thomas area for nearly 2 years and never knew this little gem of a park was in this area. Walking down Thomas was a slightly different path than my usual route. I literally came upon Griggs park. It took me all of 15 minutes to circle the entire park. It’s not large in area but it does pack great natural goodness. For instance, the park is surrounded and situated smack dab in the middle of connecting apartments and houses. It gives the illusion that the park represents a courtyard. It sports a playground for the kiddos, lots of grass for the pets and plenty of room to gather and socialize. At the far end close to Central Avenue is a basketball court. The trees are in full bloom and sporting greenery. There is enough space for a soccer team. As a matter of fact, a soccer league was at practice. I absolutely love this park. There is a great view of downtown Dallas.
It's quite a big park with lots of places to walk, jog and have a party. There are lots of sitting options with picnic tables and benches. The children's playground also has a variety of options. The park was decorated for Christmas giving it a lovely vibe. We really enjoyed visiting here. We did not see any public restrooms here.
Playground
Lots of options for kids to play.
Dog-friendliness
Dogs allowed
Picnic area
There are picnic tables for families to arrange a birthday party or something.
A hidden gem, don't tell your friends! Come here anytime and you will see a variety of activities going on from dog training/walking to personal trainers or group classes working out to kids on the playground. It also has a great view of downtown. There is a sidewalk that goes around the parameter of the park as well as benches, gazebos, and cement posts for sitting. Dogs are usually let off their leashes here in the afternoon just FYI.
My kids & I my love this park! The upgraded playground is one of the best we’ve ever been to, BOTH my son & daughter LOVE it and that’s a hard task. Sometimes we picnic, sometimes we race RC cars, the other day we played whiffle ball whatever we do it’s mostly at Griggs. Love the vibe here, people walking dogs, boot camps, picnics you name it and yes STUNNING views of Downtown & Uptown! A little gem right in the heart of Dallas. ❤️
Great open space for soccer or catch, but the trees are young and there is very little bench seating. The city seems to be trying to crack down on dog owners who let their dogs off leash by posting signage but they don’t seem to be much of a deterrent. There’s a small playground but overall, Griggs is just a large green space. It lacks many of the “amenities” that other parks like Klyde Warren have.
Nice open area for dogs to run around in! There were many owners who had their dogs off leash without any issues. Great place to come to if you want to let your dog off leash. Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that there isnt much apart from the green open space. There is a small playground and a basketball court, but that's pretty much it.
Clean and nice. Plenty of shade to sit and read, do some out the house work. Animal service officer around informing dog owner of leash requirements. Only thing is there's nothing around to buy drinks or snacks. Playground for toddlers and older kids. If you take your little ones, go prepared with drinks and snacks. Other than that a great place.
Beautiful park with the best city views! It’s a free park- parking is kinda hard because it’s street parking within a neighborhood- but overall it’s so beautiful and spacious- you can walk your dogs, have picnics, I’ve seen yoga groups and other workout groups! There’s also a jungle gym for children- this is the perfect little park all around !
Fun park just outside of downtown and close to all Uptown's amenities. Easy to access, but parking can prove difficult at times. There is a playground, path, large grass areas and dogs galore. You can even take part in some classes that take place in the park! ...on rare occasions you can even use the hills in the park to sled!
One of the best parks in Dallas. Far better than reverchon on the other side of the Katy trail. The basketball court is awesome and stays in good condition with fresh nets. Although, beware that this is a no off leash park for dogs so be careful. Look out for the park ranger with a green shirt who shows up once a month or so.
My dog loves this park, perfect for bringing him in the afternoons to play with other puppies and get plenty of energy out. He always has a blast- off his leash with quite a few other dogs just running like there's no tomorrow.... The park is nice and open but still fenced around the access road to ensure safety!
It nice to bring family to picnic an kids play but back wen it was a pool there every body was there it was 75 cents to swim an it was a baseball field there too that's was I luv about it now only have memberies they didn't take away the well that's a good thing I grew up at dat park 58 years I know bout it
Great park for kids of all ages. It's very well maintained with 2 play areas one for the little kids and one for the bigger kids. This is the park where all the local parents go for platdates and to meet other parents. Amazing dog park as well (semi fenced in) with a big oval for them to run and play.
I love the addition of the playground. It's not covered but there are two sets for various age ranges. There are two small picnic tables for 8 people total. Would be nice if there was a pavilion so there could be space to have a Childrens party. Parking is limited. Beware: there is NO restroom here.
Our favorite little park in Dallas. Lots of benches and room to walk. Pretty any time of year. People are always out doing all kinds of fun activities on the weeknights and weekends. It is usually pretty clean, except for the normal Uptown residents not picking up after their doggos.
Awesome park and close to apartment. Don’t let your dog off leash or you’ll catch a fine. Or do let your dog off leash and play the odds. Whatever you decide the people are friendly and willing to chat. There’s always someone playing some games or having a nice picnic. Cutie vibes.
Great Park with kids play ground area at the South end, nice open area in the middle thats big enough to play soccer or football and a basketball hoop at the North end, it's dog friendly and has a concrete track going around the perimeter for those that like to have a run!
Beautiful neighborhood park right off the highway. The jogging trail is short but the kids area is massive and looks like a lot of fun. There are always a bunch of dogs, all on a leash for the most part and everyone does their part in cleaning up after them.
A beautiful park with a skyline view of downtown Dallas, with a playground for children, a basketball court, and nice grassy lawns. Dog owners be advised- there is not an enclosed area for dogs, however there are plenty of dogs playing in the park.
Gorgeous park in the State Thomas Neighborhood of Dallas. Offers a playground and a fantastic view of the Dallas skyline when you walk to the hilltop! Basketball court on the North side and a great place to walk or jog. Griggs is a host to
This is NOT a dog park. It is a city ordinance that pets should remain leashed at all times. This is also why patrol officers frequently hand out citations for pet owners who do unleash their pets. This is not only dangerous for your pet,
Was given a $300 off leash dog ticket here when my dog was never off leash. About 8 other dogs were off leash but not mine. Police officer didn't care, never saw it but we were not moving so we were easy targets. Also was the last day of
Uptown spent a lot of money renovating this park. Before it was renovated it wasn't the prettiest park ever, but it was always full of dog lovers and people exercising and playing sports. They closed it down for wayyy longer than planned
Beautiful park right in the middle of Dallas downtown !! It has a beautiful walkway for joggers and bikers. Entire park overlooks downtown skyline and gets fantastic view. Park also has kids play area. You can also rent a motorized bike
This park would be much better if there were not off-leash dogs absolutely everywhere and poop everywhere else. It's kind of smelly because of the poop and there is never a time I go and don't encounter an off-leash dog or three.
The kids playground is a hidden Dallas gem. It is awesome. It comes complete with swings, monkey bars, and slides, which these days are not as easy to come by. Great toddler area, well shaded, just note no bathrooms nearby.
We play soccer here twice a week. A vast and clean park for all ages. Open fields available and also a swing set if your feeling like you need some wind blowing in your hair. Put your best shoes on and enjoy the sun!
03/25/17-New playground, lots of open space to run around and play, and centrally located. There are dogs running around without a leash, and be careful for the dog feces. Nice place to exercise and have a picnic.
I LOVE this park, if you own a dog or just enjoy them, you can find 15-25 dogs Monday-Thursday around 5:45-6:00 pm. It's wide open and well maintained, plus you can usually catch an aerobics class if you want.
This is an awesome place to come exercise, let your pooch stretch their legs or just sit back and enjoy the Dallas skyline. Did I mention the skyline? Take a few steps up the hill and you will see what I mean.
This is a great park near the State Thomas area. Great lighting, kids areas and a walking path. Some history here to take in as well if your interested. The whole park is some what contained and dog friendly.
Nice park with great views of downtown Dallas. There was an obnoxious, annoying group there blasting music on big speakers, which ruined the tranquility. Also, the dogs on leash law are blatantly ignored.
Quiet an amazing place. Kids love it and people often walk with their kids. Just be careful of your surroundings and keep your eyes moving at every direction. Especially these days. Parking pretty easy.
Nice parked tucked into the State-Thomas area. Great place to walk your dog, take a stroll or play with your kids. The grassy hills make a fun place for everyone to enjoy.
Nice little park. Clean and well kept. Nice walking trail, lots of shade trees.
Dog-friendliness
Kind of closed in to keep dogs in. Lots of people off leash.
Great park for playing basketball. Parking is sort of limited around the basketball court. Also I see others walking their dogs there,so a great place to take Bud.
What a a lovely park in the middle of bustling busy traffic. Go around dusk and take a picnic basket. Very spacious and with good view. Dogs are often off leash.
This park is so pretty, spacious and clean. It in an affluent neighborhood so they keep it in a good condition. It's suitable for toddlers on bigger kids.
Parking is limited but this is a great park for kids. Very close to the city. It is not enclosed. Plenty of room for multiple sports and ball throwing.
Great time last night watching the Hunter Sullivan Band. Great big band jazz and the coordinator did an amazing job. And for free!
Great park and not too crowded. Best spot for a Sunday afternoon to take your pup. Incredible views of the Dallas Skyline
Wonderful and spacious park just Northeast of downtown.
Picnic area
Lots of open space for picnics or relaxation
Great park, perfect to go with your kids, your dogs or by yourself to playa some basketball. Great view of donwtown.
Nice open park area for picnics or walking the dog. The hill was fun when it was frozen over, get your sled ready!
Nice walk, great for kids unlike most parks that are only catering to dog owners, this one has a kids playground.
Sooo beautiful!!! Had a great Saturday with the family, picnic in the park, and cool play ground for the kiddos!
This is the park first purchased by formerly enslaved persons to recognize the Juneteenth accomplishment.
Nice and Luxurious b I do not like concrete seats and the off street parking yuck b if ur early comeon in
I love this park... always a good place to chill, throw a Frisbee or whatever. Lots of open space.
Big fan I go daily love seeing the Dallas skyline
Nice place to walk your dog, take kids
My granddaughter loves this park .
