Evocative of deep despair The title of this sculpture roughly translates as “Great mourning man”. The sculpture depicts what appears to be a man curled up in a foetal position, with disproportionately sized limbs. The tightness of with which the whole body is held together. The sculpture is hard to like at first glance, but the more I looked at it, I did get a feeling of seeing a man in a deep state of despair, or perhaps even depression. Kudos for being about to provoke such feelings.
