Update: 7 Aug 2023. I just bought a half gallon of HEB brand half and half and carted it around the store and to home in an insulated bag with ice packs so it never was exposed to any heat. That was two days ago. I just retrieved it from the refrigerator, opened it, poured some into my coffee and it was already spoiling as was evidenced by separation particles floating in my coffee as well as the flavor! I've come across so many issues with bad dairy at this HEB that I WILL NO LONGER BUY DAIRY PRODUCTS or any SHORT LIFE COLD STORAGE PRODUCTS from this: HEB. 9238 N Loop 1604 W, San Antonio, TX 78249 A few weeks ago I found two Kozy Shack tapioca pudding containers on the shelf, one at a month past it's date and another at two weeks. I alerted the manager on duty, a young attractive woman, who was glad to let me know that HEB no longer had the "find it bad, get one for free program," she immediately turned heel and left after quickly and confidently regurgitating the policy, but did not address the more important issue of expired food on the shelf. 22 Dec 2022. Ahem, ok, so here we are again! Be fair warned if you purchase HEB’s QUICHE from their SIMPLE MEAL section. It was choc full of inedible bits of hard broccoli stalk! See photos (amongst the myriad of other photos)! I’m beginning to discern that this HEB and perhaps others is masquerading as a grocer of quality but it’s becoming ever apparent that it’s merely a store of quantity! 18 Dec 2022. I’m really not trying to pick on HEB, but…I just keep running into these situations that HEB creates. I usually park on the left side of the store ( from the vantage of facing the store), but this night on the right. When I exited I stayed on the sidewalk with my cart because that was the safest way to roll and a shopper should have that right. My car was slightly around the corner. When I got to the area in the photo, shoppers entering the store were also on the sidewalk as that is the safest route for them, but it isn’t wide enough for two way walking traffic, especially if you have a cart. I studied the area as there is a lot of sidewalk square footage, but none for shoppers it’s all for shopping carts! HEB EVEN BLOCKED THE AREA WITH CARTS WHERE SHOPPERS WITHOUT CARTS COULD WALK TO INTENTIONALLY RESTRICT SHOPPERS FROM WALKING TO THE RIGHT OF THE BARRIER!!! What genius employees think this passive aggressive sh*t up?! I’m a disabled vet so I don’t want to walk in the street as I cannot quickly dodge the idiot driving with eyeballs on phone or the one with glazed over eyeballs and head in cloud who might run me over! Trust me it’s almost happened several times right in this parking lot!

Love their yellow heb coupons, on a small hook next to anything on sale, very helpful, & unexpected. Thank you HEB for your longevity in excellent service of high quality products brought to Texans!
The music is too jangly---- enough to make you sick. The first time I went there, after not being out for awhile ( doctors won't treat a really bad, contagious skin infection that I have), the person at the register would not even help me with running my credit card. Now, interactions with their odd to downright mean staff are infrequent, as you can just check yourself out. THAT IS SUCH A WONDERFUL IMPROVEMENT!! I also have to say that their Shrimp Alfredo meal simples are good, & this is coming from someone who didn't used to like Alfredo Sauce. I'm surprised I tried it. I also like their "Texas Forever" lemonade, although they hide it on the back of the aisle between the soda & yogurt. The BEST thing they have is their Sutter Home Fruit Infusion Sweet Peach wine. They also had a peach Moscato in a single bottle, but I liked it so much, that they probably cancelled it. Actually, the best thing may be their selection of skin care products. If you are suffering from a really bad infection that makes it so you can't walk for long, regularly, or hold a book, try Minerals Sea Salt FOAMING soap. Their Dove lotion for deep cleaning also helps. Little that doctors have prescribed is better for that particular infection. Good luck with the noisy people who are on a mission to make your life miserable, though. Sometimes they string me out for hours--- & longer. You almost need a drink, afterwards, sometimes--- which I guess is why they have the liquor store next door, & Las Palapas down the road. One of the cashiers even interrupted another woman telling me how to trap raccoons, weirdly exclaiming, "Oh, I just LOVE your last name!!!", which is not exactly all that beautiful-sounding, but it's okay. Then the woman with all the tips to trap raccoons wanted to show me her online bank, on her phone. Is that not weird? Ultimately, I suppose you feel much more sane when you go there, only because they are SO CRAZY!!
@HEB, first of all, I love H-E-B. Unfortunately, today I was a little disappointed in how H-E-B is treating their customers on Valentine’s Day. Apparently your location has a design flaw. When exiting the store today, I was stopped and asked to show my receipt, as if you were Sam’s or Costco. Your employee (Partner) was polite when asking for my receipt. Outside of that, I am extremely disappointed that you do not trust your customers. She stated it was because of all the flowers that were being sold for Valentine’s Day. Again, it sounds like a design flaw in your store. If you do not trust your customers, maybe you should have designed your exit so that you can easily see as your customers leave the store. Many customers can leave and unfortunately shoplift. I get that. At the same time, as a customer, I don’t appreciate being assumed guilty until proven innocent and being asked to show my receipt for proof of purchase for expensive items. Here’s an idea maybe you should put the yellow circle stickers on expensive items that you don’t walking out the door. This way all your Partner has to do is look for the stickers as your customers exit. If I am asked for my receipt in the future, I will show it and then I will go back to your customer service and return all the items that I purchased. Never do that to me again!
H-E-B Plus is truly a Texan gem, and what sets it apart is the undeniable charm that oozes Texas pride. As the largest H-E-B Plus in the state, it delivers an exceptional shopping experience. The moment you walk through its doors, you're immersed in the essence of Texas. The decor, products, and the store's sheer size all showcase its commitment to serving Texans. It's a one-stop-shop that caters to various needs, making it incredibly convenient for shoppers. The variety and quality of the products available at H-E-B Plus are remarkable. You can find a wide range of items, from fresh produce to Texan specialties and international delicacies. The store's dedication to providing fresh and locally-sourced goods is something to be admired. While the employees may not engage with customers, their hard work and dedication are evident as they diligently stock shelves and keep the store running smoothly. This adds a unique charm to the shopping experience, as it's clear that everyone is focused on delivering the best service possible. In summary, H-E-B Plus is a Texas treasure. Its Texan charm, impressive selection of products, and the scale of the store make it a source of pride for Texans. I will continue to rely on H-E-B Plus for my shopping needs, appreciating the hardworking spirit that runs through the store.
I’ll start out by saying I’m a huge H‑E‑B fan. They do many things right. Produce, seafood, deli counter, florist, bakery, etc but having said that, I’m frustrated by the limited name brand products. H‑E‑B is trying to basically eliminate their competition by stocking 80% of the departments with their products and providing limited amounts of the name brands. Now they’ve completely stopped carrying Hillshire prepackaged lunch meats. You basically have two choices. H‑E‑B brand and Oscar Mayer. Sorry H-E-B but your lunch meat is substandard. The ham has an after taste that isn’t appealing. This is just one of multiple items I’ve seen be completely dominated by H‑E‑B brands. Good luck with the limited national brand cookies in the cookie isle. H-E-B is force feeding us their product whether we like it or not. I don’t oppose them having their own line of merchandise. I oppose them trying to force their customer to either buy it or shop somewhere else for those items. More and more I’m having to take my business elsewhere. Please stop. We want choices!
I only give 2* because of the staff over the curbside department. DONT TRUST THEM FOR YOUR FRESH PRODUCE! Not once, not twice not even 3 times but 4 times in a row have they jewd me on ratio of (ordered produce/picked and delivered produce) not to mention their ability to decipher what is still a good fruit or vegetable or not! But to top it all off, so far on every curbside I have tried....(i try to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking some people just have bad days, ya know?) Well........there ends up being several items not even in the delivered goods! That being said, if you don't mind the crowd and dealing with more traffic jams by going inside the store yourself then YOULL LOVE IT! BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED, CLEAN, ORGANIZED WITH KNOWLEDGEABLE & COURTEOUS STAFF THAT WILL MAKE YOU SMILE!
This location is very mobility impaired accessible with plenty of E-carts to go round. Flaming Bird and SoFlo Pizzas with a large dine in area with sports TV. The self check out line moves quickly. This is good if you only have a small amount of items you are getting. The regular check out lines are under staffed and they may have really long lines, so be prepared to spend some time here. This is an HEB Plus store so they have clothing and and have an extensive electronic department for a primary food location. The second round of staple shortages are going on right now so don't expect to find the primary choices that you are used to getting. Fortunately, they are not short of stockers so what is available is on the shelves.
I LOVE Heb!! I mostly do curbside pickup than going into the store. I ordered the onigiri and it was absolutley disgusting... I ordered 1 of each and all of them wasnt worth 1 bite. There was way too much rice and not enough filling. One of them had burnt rice... so nasty. I love sushi... I have been to Japan, Korea and I try my best to eat sushi as often as possible... so when I saw onigiri I was so excited to try it. Only to be let down... stay far away from it... ugh... just thinking about it I need to wash out my mouth. The Onigiri get negative stars... but Heb is wonderful... I love this grocery store so much Oh and the othr sushi Heb has is good.. just not the onigiri... gross
I always love this H‑E‑B but I had a particularly pleasant experience today. I had a lovely chat with a gentleman stocking the baby aisle. He assisted me in finding what I was looking for, shared and funny story and taught me something new. It was 6:30 am, I’m a morning person so I was in a good mood already but this made me in an even better mood. Then checking out I had a nice chat with Rome at the self check out about getting up early and ice baths . Considering how early on a Sunday it was I was impressed by how friendly and helpful everyone was. I am also a big fan of Jon who hands out samples, he’s my favorite sample guy for sure - always friendly, kind and knowledgeable!
This place is like a Wonderland of grocery shopping. They have pretty much everything U would need there. If U need something for Ur car, U can get it there. If U need to get stuff for Ur back yard BBQ like a new grill or some wood or Charcoal, they definitely have it there. I love the fact that U can get pretty much everything U need. I got steaks, beef fajitas, shrimp, and salmon meat, all fresh stuff, for a great great price. The fresh fruit section is Amazing within itself! If u are a fresh fruit type a person, this place gonna put in a "fresh fruit coma". Lol. I recommend checking this place out. Clothing, Baby clothes, Toys....etc. Stop by. It's Huge inside.
I’m very disappointed with curbside pickup today. My order was supposed to be ready between 3:30-4:00pm. I got a notification it was ready at 3:53 I park entered my curbside letter and wait. Tell me why I didn’t leave the store till 5:01 with my order!!! I called to speak with the manager to see if I can get a refund for the curbside service charge and was told they don’t do refunds on that. The only thing he suggested was to transfer me over to curbside to see how they can do better. I know for a fact they forgot about my order. I saw people park 20 to 30 minutes after me and leave with their orders.I will never shop at HEB again. Only Sams Club from now on.
I never buy meat from HEB, never, I was hosting some people this past week end and I was on a Lil bit of a crunch and because it was the closest to me, I decided to give it a shot, this piece looked great, bright flap steak slightly cheaper than I am used to getting it and thought this is just perfect. Lord and behold, I got home, unpacked it to season it, the piece was not trimmed atall, I know how to do that so I cleaned up and started to notice that the piece was smelly, brown on the edges, and even the silver skin started to smell bad. Total wast piss poor quality and ended in the trash, never again.
I drive almost 25 mins to come to this HEB because it is my favorite, however this is the second time I’ve had a poor interaction with one of your checkers. At 6:12 on 12/7/23 I had the displeasure of having Zoe as my checker as she was using her apple watch towards the end of the customer in front of mes transaction and in the beginning of mine. She then didn’t even Id me or my partner when we bought wine. She gave me attitude about my water bottle saying “Do you want it out?” instead of asking if I’d like in a bag or handed to me. The customer service is always lacking in front end.
I have been using this H‑E‑B’s curbside for the past few months and I have to say curbside gets worse and worse the more I use it. There’s at least one item missing everytime I order. I’ve called once to complain about it and I was able to pick up my one item but also had a bad experience picking up that one item. I didn’t get the girls name because if she could’ve thrown the item in my car and run away quicker she would have. The last 3 or 4 times I’ve used this H‑E‑B curbside they’ve missed an item. This H‑E‑B is such a nice store but the customer service sucks at curbside.
One thing that really gets under my skin. They advertise fresh tortillas but many times they ones they are trying to sell are the ones they made 2 days ago. Most people want hot tortillas (if buying “fresh”) or even if they’re not hot at least made sometime that day. Not 2 days ago. I even asked for a hot pack because they were making them at the time and I was told that they were filling an order and couldn’t give me a pack. Overall I love HEB but they definitely need a different system for fresh tortillas or don’t advertise as fresh. Maybe 2-3 day old tortillas.
This HEB and the Evans location used to be our go-to until The Market at Stone Oak opened. About a year ago pre-covid, I enjoyed the $10 pizza deal with my neighbor. Today, I was looking for a floral arrangement with orange flowers because my friend just got a cancerous kidney removed. Orange for kidney cancer. Thankfully Amanda was able to make an arrangement within my budget. Gorgeous arrangement too! I bought a dozen cupcakes for the nurses. The windshield washer fluids were $1.78 each since we ran out. I noticed eggs were fully restocked today.
This HEB is trash at restocking. How can such a large H-E-B never have the bare necessities. Every time I come here they don’t have things like eggs, heavy cream, bacon, vegetables, flowers. But God forbid they have less than 70 types of almond milk that no one is buying. Also, whoever did the new driveway with the speed bumps, sucks. They are too high and are awful for smaller cars no matter what speed you’re going. Also, they have no sidewalks for pedestrians on this new driveway. Way to make your HEB unsafe and inaccessible.
Really nice HEB. Fruit is spoiled sometimes so i always check really good. Last few times I've been here employees in the checkout have been rude. This visit Joey D. Told me just an FYI my checkout is 15 items or less because i don't have a bagger. Me and my 3 kids had 25 items to be exact. I thought that was really rude to tell us just FYI. He had no other customers in his line. My oldest daughter immediately said don't worry ill bag our stuff. (Which we normally bag our own things anyways)
Just want to thank Chris , the one who is tall and have tattoos. I wasn’t able to get his last name but what he did was truly a great human being. I ask if the terminals they had when making a transaction take digital wallet purchases instead of a physical card. He replied saying they don’t But offered to pay for my small dinner I got for myself and for my daughter when I didn’t have my wallet on me. Thank you again! You should definitely give this man a raise or something!
Love love love this H‑E‑B and will continue shopping for groceries but 3 stars for their blooms section. Talked with them twice about a wedding order. First one in person and second over the phone. I was trying to get a quote for my order and it’s been 3 weeks since I’ve heard anything. Tried to call and see what was taking so long and the employee said it was busy with grad/Mother’s Day (totally understandable). Still it’s been weeks with no contact, poor service.
Unfortunately H‑E‑B has a monopoly on the grocery business in San Antinio so we end up paying more for groceries than we should. I've noticed when I'm in Houston that once in a while H‑E-B might have a sale on steaks due to competition with Krogers. When I check my app, they don't have the same sale on steaks in San Antonio. The good thing about this H-E-B Plus is it has hot food that is is reasonably priced. The fajita bowls are delicious!
You will wait a LONG while if you are picking up curbside. Just make sure you are patient and not in a rush. For reference, the past two pick ups I waited over an hour (between waiting for a spot to open and then getting my order). That being said, their attendants are all rushing around and pitching in. They are trying their very best despite clearly being over scheduled with orders. I really give kudos to these hard-working individuals!
I like that they have international foods, even if they are expensive. Plus, this one definitely has a lot more options for food choice, including more organic, grass-fed, gluten-free items. The middle area also has cute home decor items and clothes. Checkout is usually pretty quick once you get there, but they really should open more lanes. They usually have only 2 or 3 lanes open and there's always a wait.
I purchase the fresher milk in the glass jars and pay my deposit, knowing I can bring it back to H-E-B. Well guess what!! H-E-B will not refund to me over $20 of deposit that I gave to them! I really do not care whether they carry this brand anymore or not. I gave them my deposit with the understanding I could return them. It’s not like I’m coming back a year or two years after purchasing it!
I love this H-E-B! They always have everything I need, the employees are friendly, and the store is clean and organized. I actually used curbside service today and I was a bit thrown off that I had to wait 20 minutes to receive my groceries. Nevertheless, the customer service is superb, so even though I had a long car wait, they deserve 5 stars for their positive and helpful employees!
ATTENTION CUSTOMERS DO NOT GET YOUR GROCERIES DELIVERED BY HEB!!! HEB OWNS “FAVOR DELIVERY” AND THIS IS ONE OF THEIR DRIVERS. HIS CAR IS FULL OF TRASH, HE STEALS FOOD AND DELIVERS YOUR ORDERS IN UNSANITARY CONDITIONS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO HEB AND THE FAVOR DELIVERY COMPANY THAT THEY OWN BUT THEY HAVE NOT DONE A SINGLE THING ABOUT IT!!! THIS HAS GONE ON FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS!!!
I shopped for the first time at a HEB Store while in San Antonio, all I have to say is WOW! Shopping here is so much better then going to Walmart, the aisles are wider here, better displays, very clean and foods I can't find anywhere else. I wish you had a HEB on the west coast! The only complaint about here is the long lines at the checkout that took 15 plus mins to wait in.
Cheerful place to shop. The store is always clean. The associates have always helped me. Even the pharmacist helped me today find a specific test kit. There's a vast variety to select from. This store has the extra stuff, like home living decor, clothing, and Mia's boutique. I found 3 unique birthday gifts for 3 different people. One store 4 accomplishments. Thank you, HEB.
Purchased a sack of crawfish last weekend. Got home started cooking them. A little under half the sack was dead! I called and was told to come in with pics for a refund. Went in today and was no, I needed to bring the dead ones in! Of course I threw them out!! $130 wasted!!! EDIT:went in and talked to manager and they refunded half my purchase price…
Bigger is better in the case of HEB! This HEB is enormous and seems to have anything you could be looking for. The selection is endless. A large outdoor garden section is complimented by an enormous indoor selection. There are items here you don't see at other HEBs. Being large it does attract a huge crowd so arrive early or late to beat the lines.
Went to HEB and did not know you could have a beer while doing your grocery shopping. That is the beat thing HEB has come up with. It's nice to do it at all HEB's don't like grocery shopping but have to go with the significant other and that beer made it so much better to just walk around with her . Thx HEB.
Heb a staple in Antonio, TX. Extremely busy location. Small precooked warm pizza, bird, bird, bird's the word meals. Warm Tamales, Hot Menudo and much more for a quick bite while you shop. The large water tower in the parking lot lets you know you've arrived at a place better than knott's berry farm!
Shout out to Richard at curbside Nov. 17th @ 2:30. I apologized for not having a tip he said" we are not allowed to accept tips, HEB pays us very well to provide a service to our customers " Well , most of them are accepting tips. What a phenomenal employee. HEB @ Bandera & 1604.
BASKETS STOP ON ME CONSTANTLY HERE. I don't live over here, I live in Alamo Ranch, but I work by this HEB. Why is my basket always painfully stopped at this store! It's the most annoying thing. Take these stupid things off the baskets, it treats us like criminals.
This food stockpile place is nice and has stuffs i need. Seafood market is also good. An update. I got a sushi salad and i noticed they reduced whats inside. They used to be full and now a clear amount of space is inside. So no more over priced sushi salad for me.
The eating area was messy and very dirty. The last time we are there, the soda dispenser was out of many drink options. This was the case again. Everything about this visit grossed me out. No one readily available to clean dining area when customers are done.
I love this HEB. I'm always able to find products that other locations near me don't have. The only problem I've ever had at this location is cashiers that weren't very friendly, but hey, being upbeat all the time for customers can be draining, so no problem.
What a big shop ! With variety of items , which includes a clothing & accessory shop inside it , sea food , veggies , snacks , flowers . Clean and neat shop . I spotted good collection of paper plates & cups for the party , many sizes were available .
Love this store. I always find new, vegatarian food options at this store. And the produce is almost always very fresh and on point. At this location you can get all the grocery store options PLUS some electronics, clothes, costume jewelry, and more.
Still a great shopping experience. Everyone I talk to is friendly and professional. They had everything I needed and I was in and out in no time. Couldn't ask for anything more. Easily one of my favorite stores. Thank you very much.
I love this H-E-B! You could spend all day in hear. My wife actually bought her boots that she loves in the middle of the store at the boutique. The store has everything you want! So easy to get around great environment love it
This HEB is awesome. They have a huge selection groceries and other goods and a full service deli, meat, and seafood department. They also have Southflo Pizza and Flambing Bird. You can even get a draft beer while you shop.
Didn't expect to be missing half the toppings on my cake. Edit: After consultation with HEB customer support. I was given courteous assistance by Christine Who definitely did not bribe me into saying this.
This place is massive it's like a Costco it's so big. The have everything here from vegan to keto to 2 aisles of chips. I was so happy to find so many keto friendly foods here. I found my new favorite HEB
1st time to this location, and it was great. They have a lot of stuff in there, and it is very clean and organized. Staff is very friendly and helpful. And the flaming chicken is pretty good.
After living without HEB for four years, this store is a refreshing change. Love this store! Here Everything is Better! Thank you for being an amazing company that cares about your customers.
Good store with good variety, but some of the employees aren’t very friendly… particularly the guys getting the carts at night can be straight up rude… otherwise everything else is great!
There was no one working the floral dep late in the evening & a manager put someone helium in balloons the kids wanted. HEB employees are always great. I go every single time I'm in SA.
I LOVE HEB! YOU CAN FIND ANYTHING HERE, IT'S CLEAN, THE STAFF ARE SUPER NICE AND THEY HAVE A LARGE VARIETY OF SO MUCH OF THEIR "MEAL SIMPLE" MEALS AND KNICKKNACKS AND SO MUCH MORE!!
You have turned into a dept store. Not sure who layed out this plan for shopping but it caters to everything but shopping for menus. Your curbside pickup clear is your plan.
Simply put, this is the best grocery store in Texas. Maybe the entire country. Yeah it's that good...Older folks may want to ride the isles. This place is huge.
This is the most amazing HEB I've ever seen. And I have traveled all over Texas. It has so much stuff. Same prices same great value just an extra size HEB!!!!
Huge store!!! It had a variety of things for purchase. Great chef for food tasting! You can purchase groceries, clothes, eye glasses. Loved shopping there.
Very big & very busy...! This one has an Auntie Anne's pretzels place in it. Yes that's awesome. They have a couple other places there including BBQ.
I love this HEB!!! It has everything you need! So clean and workers are helpful and friendly! Cashier, Sara, was a total sweetheart and made our day!
This HEB seems to always cover up bad ground beef and resale it In response to your response: Unfortunately the smell didn't agree with your comment.
HEB Potranco at 1604 is horrible. Looks pandemic like. Needs new management. I go out of my way to avoid this store, even the Neighborhood Walmart.
As someone who just moved here from Maine, I cannot believe everything inside this store. Easily the best grocery store I have EVER been in!
Everything is bigger in Texas, but this HEB is massive! Great selection. We’ll drive across town to get items they only carry at this store.
I come here every weekend and I always have good service when I check out and There is good quality stuff that is worth buying.
Best HEB I've ever been to. The only downside is that it's usually crowded, so go first thing in the morning or late at night.
I stopped on today and they had great deals the seafood department. It wasn't crowded and I got checked out quickly!
Got curbside. It took 3 days for them to get the groceries out to us. Then...... they didn't have Egg nog!!! …
Great store and staff! HEB is like a food wonderland! So much variety and a fantastic deli! Highly recommend!
I do not recommend the curbside service. I waited well over half an hour after checking in for my groceries.
This is my favorite place to shop. There is a HEB closer to my house, but I Love HEB plus.
