Not the best experience I’ve had. I have a history of migraines and vertigo. Typically over the counter medication will help, but occasionally it doesn’t and I can’t stop throwing up so I go to the hospital. The migraine, I didn’t think it was that, was the worst one I’ve had ever. The pain was almost unbearable. I had been throwing up for almost 2 hours when I finally decided to go to the hospital. Upon arriving, I had an ambulance take me as my family wasn’t available, they wanted to put me in the lobby. I was actively throwing up when they pushed me in the doors. I started to throw up again before they tried to take me out and then decided I should stay. I continued to throw up and told them how long I had been. My stomach hurt so bad at that point I was disoriented and not able to really focus. I was expecting iv fluids as I was dehydrated but waited almost an hour until it and medication was given. Imagine if I had been in the lobby. When the nurse came to take blood, she was rude and had no empathy at all. She got an attitude and stated could I please stop moving. I had not been given anything at that point and was still in a lot of pain. It was obvious she didn’t read my chart or notes or whatever they look at before they engage with a patient. I almost started to get rude but didn’t say anything. When she poked me the first time she wasn’t able to get any blood, she tried again and I cried out in pain. I don’t usually bruise but I have one on both arms where she poked me. I then told her I was dehydrated and had been throwing up for about 2 hours. It would be difficult to get blood from me due to that fact, which I thought she would know since she is a nurse. I told her if I would have been hydrated it would be very easy. I’ve never had issues giving blood. It took about 4 hours until I was discharged. Towards the end the nurse started to chit chat with me as well as some of the other employees which is why I am giving 2 stars. Over all though, my experience wasn’t good.
I was placed in an ambulance from my job as I was experiencing sharp excruciating chest and stomach pain. I was in and out of consciousness, sweating, crying, vomiting when I was wheeled into the ER. The EMT said we are going to do our best to get you into triage. I wished I had taken pictures of the circus I was in. There were stretchers lined up everywhere like a drive thru at Chick-fil-A. All the EMT'S were cracking jokes with staff begging to get their patient into triage first. They said to one of the nurses "come on get her in- she is having chest pains- she doesnt know if she is having a heart attack. The nurse laughed and said if she is having one she is in the best place as everyone in here is on their deathbed. She said take her to lobby via wheelchair. The EMT's went looking and looking for a wheelchair no luck. They took me in stretcher to the lobby and it was a horrendous site to see. Every single chair but one was taken. It was close to 545 pm when the lady next to me said we have been here since 1140 am to be seen. Her mother had fainted and had a concussion on her head. My understanding is you can die from getting a blow to the head but apparently a 70 yr old with a big knot on her head didn't require immediate attention even if she fainted. I left immediately not realizing the EMT had given my Driver's license to the nurses. I called today to ask where could I pick it up...never got a person on the phone. I have no choice but to drive there. I wouldn't recommend this hospital NO matter what.
Please refrain from coming here. By God’s grace I got out of this hospital at the end. I am thankful I had 3 good Nurses and 1 good doctor that came back around to check on me because the Doctor I was supposed to have no one could get ahold of preventing me from getting the treatment I needed b/c he had to prescribe anything I received and the one time I did see him he was negligent. The nurses would put on gloves when they walked in touched all over their phone and computer keyboards and still use the same gloves to try to check and touch my wounds and medications. The phlebotomist cleaned my arm with alcohol then proceeded to touch the spot she was going to draw blood from with the glove she touched everything with. The cafeteria gave me a milk that was expired by a whole month. I had to relay why I was in the hospital to every shift change nurse and doctor multiple times. And finally leaving I was told my swab came back and they were giving me a specific antibiotic for it and I received a call a couple hours later after d/c that my results came back and it actually was not that and they switched my meds with the pharmacy and even then after a few days of taking those antibiotics I start to have side effects of blood in my urine, and come to find out they over prescribed me. There is so much more but the post would be a book. Thank you to the couple good healthcare workers, but I will never recommend anyone to come here.
Everything was good up until I was moved from surgery to the fifth floor. I don’t usually write reviews. Registration was great, 2nd floor surgery was amazing they are so attentive and kind, all of the physical therapist were amazing the room service was amazing the lab personnel were so kind. Once I was moved to the fifth floor it all went to hell. I had a laminectomy and spinal fusion worst pain I ever felt! Now there were a select few nurses that I loved and were very kind. I didn’t get my pain meds when I was supposed to, I was never offered a shower it was like I was a problem. My mom asked for ice at the nurses station and was snapped at. I was there for 4 days and it was pure hell! The day I was discharged I was told I couldn’t have anything for pain for the 2 hour ride home, luckily one of the nice nurses said “she has a 2 hour ride give her something, I was given one pain tablet waited 2 hours (by then the meds had worn off)for a wheelchair that never came, my sister went to the nurses station to ask what was going on to which a nurse literally looked at her and said “ I’m busy “ and turned around! I finally just had my mom and sister help me walk out on my own no wheelchair no walker
I came in for an emergency, I spent over two hours before I could see a doctor. After the doctor made his recommendation, the nurse came in with a bottle of IV and three injections. I told her I think I might need to eat something before taking those injections as it was 15hours since I had my last meal. She insisted it didn't matter. I was in a lot of pain so I met her go ahead. She tried connect the IV and the line wasn't going through, she decided to force it, after which she inject the 3 different meds into my arm, in less that 2mins I was almost passing out, could not breath any more. When I started screaming for help, the new nurse who just took over the shift grudgingly came in and told me nothing was wrong with me I should try to relax. I had to insist I get something to drink and I continued screaming. She had to get me two small cups of orange juice before I could breath fine. Two days after I was discharged I noticed my arm where the IV went into was hurting badly, the vein was swollen and had clogged blood underneath the skin area. Till date I am still battling the pain and its now hardened and not relieving me.
This hospital is by far the worst hospital I’ve ever been to. My mom was admitted here for 2 weeks and has had the most inconsistent care. I’ll give credit to where it’s due, Dr. Duong is amazing, quick, thorough and efficient. The nurses are a different story. My mom would press the call light and no one would answer. The doctor had ordered the nurse to remove my moms Foley catheter for 3 days and it wasn’t done (risk for infection). There’s a handful of nurses that were very attentive and caring but most begrudgingly tended to my mom and even threatened her bill being charged for changing her bag. Lastly, the most bizarre thing I’ve ever heard of, they accidentally discharged my mom. She had a blood transfusion and was suppose to be kept an extra few days to make sure she’s not bleeding internally anymore and there were specific HOLD discharge orders and yet they set up and ambulance to pick her up and take her back home. She was still nauseous and vomiting. She eventually went back to the ER at a different hospital.
My Daughter Has Been Having Issues The Last 24 Hours for possible gall bladder issues. We arrived around 11:30 am. HCA Houston Healthcare West ER Was Absolutely Horrible Today. My Daughter Was Actively Seizing & I Yelled For Help.. Not Once But Twice. The Security, Nurse Practitioner & Nursing Staff Stood In The Doorway And Watched While I Was Trying To Help Her, They Failed To Assist, And The NP Said To Me That We Were Disturbing Other Patients. This is was unacceptable and very unprofessional. If your staff is that burned out from their job then maybe they should not be working there. People need care and their bedside manners was shocking. I’ve been in the healthcare field for the last 15 yrs and well aware of how things should be handled. You need to wipe out a lot of your staff and seek people who will do their job with a little bit of compassion. I will be getting touch with everyone in higher positions including the chief medical officer and chief nursing officer and then some.
Went here yesterday to be treated for nausea and vomiting to only be treated for the wrong diagnosis and the wrong meds. After being given the wrong meds and vomiting it up while the nurse is administering the meds. The nurse left but before he did he stated this is weird no one vomits after being given an antibiotic. They didn’t want to give me iv fluids for dehydration and kept telling me i didn’t need it when. I’ve been vomiting and not eating for 3 days. I feel absolutely worse than i felt before i went. What i was treated for vs my results do not even match up. I would never go here again nor recommend them idk if i have to drive 30/45 minutes away. This is ridiculous for a hospital and it’s staff. The doctor even said the results aren’t back so we are going to treat as if you have it. I had a negative reaction to the meds given and nothing was done to fix it. Worst experience ever. I don’t even wanna give the 1 star!
hello ! Good morning...I can say that it is an excellent hospital, excellent cleanliness, excellent professionals who work there, both doctors and nurses, excellent attention from the staff, the hospital is very clean, comfortable, and very well equipped, the nurses are second to none, super friendly and professional, and I want to express special appreciation to the girl at the surgery reception on the 2nd floor, named Thamara, an excellent human being, professional, and excellent care, and my other special thanks to the nurse Michelle from surgery recovery, unbeatable! He behaved excellently with my son who underwent surgery yesterday, he has an excellent vocation for service, in addition to being an excellent professional and human being...very grateful!...
Outstanding! After 15+ MRIs and a dozen CT scans at a variety of hospitals and outpatient facilities, my go to place is Sugar Land Diagnostics (now HCA Houston Healthcare West). The facilities are nice and the staff is warm and professional. A prime example is Crystal in check in, she's friendly and helpful. Special shout outs to Lisa and Dr Alan Lobo. Lisa has been my radiology tech multiple times over multiple years and EVERY time she goes above and beyond. Special thanks to Dr. Lobo as his verbose neuroradiology reports are outstanding.. My neurosurgeon and other doctors have repeatedly been impressed with his level of detail and accuracy. Thanks to everyone at HCA West Sugar Land for your care and providing a place I can always depend on.
My elderly parents and I were at the hospital last week. My mother was showing signs of confusion and lack of balance. ER personnel took us after a short time and started performing tests on her immediately after. Mom was admitted to the hospital overnight where she received constant attention and care. Every single nurse and Doctor who saw mom at the ER and once she was admitted was exceptionally throughout in their examinations and most importantly...kind and compassionate. I cannot thank them enough for understanding that patients are scared and vulnerable; specially seniors. Waiting times could be unavoidable when seeing many patients but what is critical is the type of attention patients receive once they are with a nurse or a doctor.
I wouldn’t even recommend a animal to this hospital. No communication, lazy, angry, BLACK nurses. They sit down all day and do nothing. One patient wasn’t bathed for a week they family arrived to the hospital and was upset by what they saw. They turn the call button off or light off. It takes them an hour before they come after pressing the call button. The chairs for the patient family to sit in is so hard feel like your sitting on the floor it doesn’t lay back and then I had to request a chair it’s wasn’t in the room it took them 2 hours to get the chair. I can go on and on it was just that bad! It was HORRIBLE!!! The worst hospital to go to!!! DO NOT GO TO WEST HOUSTON HCA!!! If I could give them zero stars I would!!
The worse place. The doctor's don't know how to diagnose anything and the nurses are lazy and very unprofessional. My mother was brought in for chest pains and she asked for some ice chips for dry mouth and was given some by another nurse then the nurse working on her snatched the ice away and trashed it. She didn't tell anyone that she wasn't supposed to eat or drink anything. She was very rude and never came in the room except to check blood pressure. She was in er for over 12hrs before finally getting a room. They told her the room number and and then put her in a different room. She's been in there a week and they still don't know what is wrong with her. She needs to change hospitals.
I should’ve saved a lot of check in time by clicking the link I received before my appointment. However, the process was simple and the staff friendly. After over an hour waiting to get my CT scan (starving by the way) the Imaging Director, Faren, came out to welcome me. She was so kind and nice that she made me forget about the wait. Later, while getting the CT scan I had a panic attack. The test was explained to me, but I guess I was too nervous and hungry to listen. Adrian and Sayid were incredibly supportive and helped me complete the test. I left the room shaking and a little embarrassed, but thankful for the service provided.
My father was suffering from pain around his stomach for a very long time. We did every possible and available test in all other famous Houston Hospitals but no one was able to diagnose his disease. A friend recommend HCA, we went to ER because he was in more pain than usual. It took them seven hours to admit him l, I didn’t like it at first but after admission his disease was diagnosed and did a surgery within hours. All the nurses were awesome specially (Areesh) if I have not misspelled her name. She was new but very cooperative and supportive. Thank you to all the doctors and staff.
This hospital is old and shows it. The staff is less than is to be expected. We asked for patient confidentiality and were given a passcode, but it was never requested from anyone calling in for information. Discharge happened virtually without notice and apparently without previous notice to the nurses. There was little or no assistance from the staff when our elderly family member needed help in the restroom or with bathing (he didn’t bath in 4 days) and housekeeping was often delayed. The food most often went uneaten. In the future we will drive further to use other facilities
I’ve been waiting since 8:30pm to be seen by the physician and it’s now 10:41pm and when I asked how long would it be before I would be seen, everyone completely ignored me like I didn’t say anything. I had to repeatedly ask when I would be seen because no came to check in on me. Finally someone answered me and said it’s going to take another 10 to 15 minutes before I’m seen. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. This place has an excessive wait time, inattentive staff, and they lack effective communication skills
Overall, I had a horrible experience after surgery with the night personnel on the FIFTH floor. I threw up on myself for multiple hours and night shift personnel did not assist in anyway. Additionally, I was not given any medication for the nausea. The lack of communication is beyond me. I have never seen such unprofessionalism. The only thing amazing about HCA West was the Day Shift personnel! They were hilarious, attentive, and caring. I wish I could name them all. (#502)
The Doctor/Resident Devante Shootes was supposed to send my meds to my pharmacy . he sent NOTHING but the laxatives. & i can’t get in touch with him . I called the 5th floor there where I was admitted too and they had a rude attitude and didn’t want to help . The guy on the phone at emergency who sounded gay had the MOST horrible attitude ever . I’m just over this hospital , this used to be a great hospital . idk what happened .
The hospital is not good. As I noticed, nurses chat chit all the time, plus they always forgot something when they’re about to do something. Sometimes, a male doctor and a nurse is kinda flirting while they’re with patient. They stopped and went somewhere for something (you know what I mean). Unprofessional and lazy. Doctor should go to school and do some studies for improvement.
Dr. Sassie is extraordinary. I have had an issue for about 8 years that 10 other specialists were unable to diagnose. First visit, she nailed it. I do not have enough words to express my appreciation and gratitude. The quality of my life is about to get a whole bunch better. I'm excited. Mostly, I thank God for Dr. Sassie and her incredible staff. THANK YOU!
This hospital is a mess. The level of treatment is borderline nonexistent. My mother peed on herself and was left like that for hours despite many calls to the nurses. The cleaning lady also reported to the nurses but no one seems to care. Administration of the hospital doesn’t answer the phone. Avoid this place at all costs
I came here for a procedure with Dr. Kim on Monday. I must say I was highly pleased. From the moment I walked in Tamara the patient advocate greeted me with a warm smile. She put me at ease and assured me that everything would be fine. SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO TAMARA! She was amazing as well as the 5th Floor nurses.
I had surgery here on Nov 1. I just loved the kindness and sweetness of Tamaka the Patient Advocate early in the morning, she had a smile and her attitude was so cheery..I hope I spelled her name right.. All the nurses was wonderful that I came in contact with. Thanks to everyone who assisted that day..
The staff took great care of me and my baby and was professional. I really appreciated Nadeen, one of the nurses that stayed with me through the night and took care of my little one when it came to her needs. Thank you for making the birthing experience easy and calm.
Hiring event was a joke. Rsvp’ed for 1pm interview and at 1pm as soon as I walked in came to know the positions were filled. Bogus. Also they wasted my time by not letting me know even though they had alot of time to email me since they were emailing me before.
Wonderful staff. I took my roommate in for nausea and fatigue. They took care of him so well, excellent bedside manner and very calm and professional. Could not recommend them enough. Wonderful staff! Sarah Swan was our nurse, couldn’t ask for better.
The doctors and nurses at this hospital are useless and incompetent. No wonder you have so many bad reviews. You're unable to take care of patients or even diagnose them. I will make sure to let everyone I know to leave you very bad reviews.
HCA is the best hospital i have been in, Your staff at the ICU was absolutely one of the best. i have been in your hospital 3 times and in all of my stays I have been treated with the utmost respect. Doctors and nurses are one of the best.
I just had my 1st baby Maisie Vu on 08/26/2023 at HCA Houston Healthcare West. From the bottom of our heat, all of my family want to say “Thank you” Dr. DHARI AAMAR and nurse Jasmine and all of the nurses helped me during the time I stayed
I came in here for a minor injury. EXTREME lack of translators or language diversity. Had many bystanders translate for patients in pain. The wait time was around 3 hours. Truly putting the “emergency” in emergency room!. The staff doesn’t
AVOID THIS FACILITY AT ALL COSTS. Worst service and care I have ever seen. The doctors are horribly rude and insensitive to the patients and family. There are always excuses as to why they can't perform various services or the Doctor's are
I, unfortunately was in for withdrawel. As soon as the ER doc found out her attitude changed. She spent very little time with me. I had questions on what to expect and she never gave me the chance. The nurse was nice. I would not go back.
At one time this was outstanding hospital. Everything and so many staff changes. I will never come back here. Friendliness is the carvings all GONE. Kitchen don't care. I can see why the staff change. There is absolutely no appreciation.
the worst hospital in houston, i have listened to the nurses chitchat for over an hour. They are extermly unprofessional and rude! Nurse amanda is extermly rude and her demeanor is horrible! she truly needs to work on her bedside manners
This hospital has gone down the drain. I have been here and came to the emergency room a few times about ten yrs ago. Staffed must pick and choose who they let in because everyone who came in after us they let them in and left before us
I was here a few months ago, the emergency care was fast, I arrived with a fever, a lot of headache, chest and full body pain, it took them 4 attempts to take a vein, but even so the nurses were very kind. The Doctor who treated me,
I was an IP in October for one day. I received outstanding care and treatment by everyone! My nurses were awesome - meds on time, kept me well informed and happy!! If I every have to have an elective again, West is where I will go!
The Registration stuff were so nice friendly helpful i had an appointment with the Radiology Imaging department i been there 30 minutes before but they saw me after two hours i don’t know why it took too long :(
My experiences was great!! I had a baby in February and the nurses were gentle with me! I liked Chinelo one of the labour and delivery nurses.
