"I’ve been coming to this library location for over 10 years when we first moved to Hamilton"
This is a really amazing library centre. It begins the minute that you walk through the door of the main entrance. This building contains everything needed to train up a child, help care for the elderly and disabled, and to keep all of your family healthy, educated and entertained. The reason it far surpasses all other libraries is that it is located within a YMCA. Not only can you borrow books and movies when your there but you can go swimming, take an educational course, become a lifeguard , or relax in their wonderful hot tub. There are plenty of sports activities offered in the large gymnasium and daily activities in the swimming pool like aqua fit classes, and swimming lessons. There is even a lovely little coffee shop just outside of the library doors. Everything is modern, beautiful, well organized wheelchair accessible and clean. The library is located within the same building with plenty of parking in the back of the building. The service staff are always friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. Borrowing books and movies is made so fast and easy with really modern computerized check -in and check-out service. Computers are available for daily use by the public. Educational and recreational activities and classes are offered every day of the week. I love that you can borrow numerous movies at a time for a full week. It is a really great place for everyone in your family. Thank you so very much Hamilton Public Library for years of excellent service to the people of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
This place is great ! Firstly The staff is very friendly, informative, and welcoming. I am a business owner and during COVID I need a place to get work done outside of my home. This is the perfect place. It is bright, clean, quiet, and safe. They have a great quiet area equipped with a therapy light and fire place...just to make it a little more cozy and homey. For those who aren't motivated and need a little extra brightness. If you need to get out of the house and get to a nice, quiet place. I highly recommend coming here.
nice facility, spacious library, clean washroom but do not come here to study. the staff allow the teenagers to sit in the quiet sections of the library and do not police this area. The kids own this library and they are loud. They start entering around 3pm. They often sit on the couches near the quiet section and start talking. The quiet section is roughly 1/10th of the library yet the workers cannot maintain it properly. If you need to study, forget this public space, go to a university library.
Easily my favourite library branch in Hamilton! Especially great for bringing my 6 year-old after school or on weekends. Love that the children's play area has a glass partition, so you can let your child(ren) play independently while monitoring them from outside (and do your own reading too!). The building also has a family YMCA and a small cafe outside the library entrance for light snacks. There is also a small children's playgound beside the building, and ample parking space.
I’ve been coming to this library location for over 10 years when we first moved to Hamilton. There’s a ton of seating but when local schools get out, they saturate the library and can be loud and obnoxious. If you choose to come to this library I suggest coming before 3 pm or after 6 pm, after 6 is scarce seating. There are private study rooms and designated quiet areas, it’s well lit, cozy and decorated nicely.
Teenagers are destroying this place. We changed libraries because of it. Doing back flips in the library, rowdy loud and disrespectful. Allowed to act this way unchallenged. There is security there now but it's becoming unsafe. Bunch of pack animals ruining it and disrupting everyone actually trying to study and learn.
They are very aggressive when telling you to leave, with 2 announcements, someone coming around and telling you, and then 30 seconds of flashing the lights on and off in the closing minutes. We get it. You're closing. We are using our minute. I know it's silly but it makes me feel like a burden ♂️
this is for the workers especially the food bar workers who don't seem to actually work they stand around and make fun of the costumers at the YMCA I've never seen them work i don't know what they actually are payed to do i guess stand around and drool
Lovely location, spaced out well fantastic people working there!! Lost a star because their bathrooms are always leaning towards the icky side ... Stand alone libraries seem to have better standards than the libraries that share facilities!!
Very good spot to get some focus time. Plenty of seating options with some of them facing large windows with a nice view. Very good wifi. Home clean washrooms. The same building has YMCA facilities (including indoor pool) for a good workout.
The woman who gave us information at the library was very kind. She took care of us for a long time and was very kind to my children and me. We were very happy to visit the library and be there. It was a clean, orderly and calm environment.
Wonderful location on Hamilton Mountain. Very friendly staff for this first time library card holder. Good selection of books and if a hold needed response is timely... no terribly long waits. Love the library experience.
Great place to study however some students only come to hang out in large groups. They crowd around the tables in the quiet zones and socialize loudly. Can be quite annoying and rude. Library staff don't enforce it.
It's very convenient with lots of outlets and seats. The only issue is the younger staff are very noisy when they chat with each other in the silent study areas and they don't inform others that they are too noisy.
Not as nice as other locations, the book holdings are average and it's a pretty out of the way location. But it has a nice YMCA and the hours are good, except for one the weekends when the hours are shorter.
Staff are knowledgeable and welcoming. Great layout, well organized and clean. There are computers and a charging station. Lots of comfy chairs to sit in. I didn't give it 5 * because it's closed on Sunday.
This library has all your needs, whether it be books, movies, computers, photocopies, printing. Their staff is friendly and will help you in all you need. They're Covid protocols are great and safe too.
Lots of great studying locations and giant table! but the Cafe cashier was extremely rude and wrecked our visit. Very disappointed in the service at the cafe, I will not be returning.
Best quite place for studying, great recreational spots there are too, there is one side with seats facing windows, marvellous beautiful amazing place to read there.... …
Easy computer and printing access. Every day you get 10 free pages for printing and only 10 cents for black and white after that. Thank you!!!
Hamilton Public Library is a great place to go for books, activities and computer access. I thoroughly enjoy visiting the Hamilton Libraries
This library is a jewel. Just moved to Hamilton from Toronto. My favourite library by far. Friendly staff and extremely helpful too!
A very good library. There're washrooms inside and outside the building. It's very quite and has lots of tables to sit alone.
Workers weren't the best help with all the technology. The younger workers definitely have better knowledgeable
Good and spacious library. Perfect for studying with friends or alone, Food stand is good but kinda pricey.
It is always nice to go to my branch. Staff is very helpful and polite. Printing services work very well.
Love to read. Putting a lot of books on hold and doing pickups. Haven't been disappointed yet. …
Very nice atmosphere... comfortable chairs. The staff is always available, friendly and helpful.
I used to work here 2009-2012. A great library that has a lot of resources available to patrons.
