I decided to try Hand and Stone Massage because my sister goes to a location in Houston. I have my regular place that I normally go to but I haven't been able to go since last year around this time so I was long overdue. This location had two available appointments so I decided to go. I don't drive and my normal transportation requires 24hr advance notice so I used Uber which cost me total $26 for roundtrip. I did the Introductory Massage & Introductory Facial with the Microdermabrasion. The massage therapist was late (out of her control because they were delayed due to the train) but was very apologetic. The massage was fine and she was very attentive in asking me about the pressure which was on point. My complaint is that the room was cold and even after she turned on the heater for the bed it took a while to feel any warmth. I didn't want to say anything to disrupt the massage because I just needed to relax and feel a sense of escape. I'm a caregiver to my elderly parents so anytime I can have a moment to myself I treasure. So I continued to feel cold and didn't really get to feel the full effect of rest and relaxation. I moved onto the facial which I was very excited about. The room was also cold and I mentioned it to the esthetician and she even commented that her room is the coldest. She had the bed warmer turned on high and like the other room, it made no difference. She was kind enough to bring me an extra blanket. I enjoyed the facial and felt like I was glowing afterwards...lol! During checkout, the front desk clerk seemed to be a bit confused about my tip and made me feel uncomfortable. I thought it was clear that I was leaving 15% (would've left more but due to being cold that made a huge difference). It seemed like a whole ordeal to figure out the tip and she clearly said the tip amount and was going to put the total amount per person instead of splitting it. I finally told allow me to me get out my calculator and break it down for her. I told her how much to give to the massage therapist and how much for the esthetician. I was made to feel like I didn't know what I was talking about when it came to the financial aspect of this transaction and I didn't appreciate it. I'm disappointed and I will not be returning to this location.
Was supposed to be charged on the 25th of Sept for member fee. Went a week early and ask the front desk to move up my charge date and she said she would. Got charged $75 on the 22nd then still got charged for the member fee of $69 on the 25th. Called when I realized it and was told Id get a call back from the manager in two days and that the $69 would be refunded. Never got a call back so I followed up 4 days later. The lady said I would have to talk to management which comes in at noon. I asked for my card to be removed from their file and she said she would let management know but cannot confirm the card would be removed. I then let her know they are no longer authorized to charge my card on file and the lady said she would let her manager know but cannot confirm my card wouldn't be charged in the future. Lost a client for poor customer service. I have called my bank to dispute the charges and future ones should they attempt to charge my card. I would use another company especially one that will confirm your card will be removed after being told to do so.
My husband and I called to see if they offered chair massages. The answer was yes. The attendant stated the cost was $69 for 1 hour each. We get there and we are told by massage therapists state each session will be 20 minutes that 1 hour ea is not possible for a chair massage. No problem. I thought that I would be charged $69 for 1 hour. The massages were great. Afterwards the girl tells me each massage (20 minutes each) is $59 each. So for $69 I can get an hour. They took $10 off for losing 80 minutes? I asked if the attendant if she could adjust the price. She said I will ask the owner. Comes back and refuses to change price. Thats what I call getting ripped off. Wont be back. So I called and was told that when you book for an hour or 30 minutes 10 minutes is consultation. SMH. Refused to refund any money. The manager stated I agreed to the massage ; which I did thinking we would be charged $69 for 1 hour. I didnt change the time the salon did. So just know if you pay for an hour massage you get 50 minutes.
I really wanted to try this place as reviews were seemly good. I made an appointment a week in advance. Unfortunately, I got a call the morning of my appointment that the person scheduled did not come in. These things happen; I have never had a facial , so I do not know the decorum for the situation. I know if I canceled at the last moment I most likely would receive a partial charge as they require your credit card to make an appointment. I was given a choice of coming in right now, or one other time the next day. I could do neither. Maybe it too much to ask in these times; I just wanted to be treated with some kindness. Things happen, but I would have appreciated some effort to help me find a time. I ended up not getting the appointment at all. I do not know the whole situation: maybe the people working are understaffed and underpaid; I do not know. I am just disappointed as this was an appointment for a special occasion. 1st world problems;)
Not one to complain. My wife and I have been going to Hand & Stone for quite some time at the 281 location. Wanted to try Basse location out. My experience was absolutely horrible. My massage therapistwould not massage my face or head. She said she could not because of covid. I asked for little more pressure when massaging. She would apply more pressure for 10.00 dollars. The she passively aggressively massaged me lightest she could. She said massage is over. No greeting at the door with cup of water or nice thank you. So I called this location numerous times, no call back. Finally got a call from management to notify me I could not recieve a full refund. A simple refund could of save them 2 customers for life to comp a measly 100.00. We will be getting memberships to Oak Haven. A simple comp to save a customer did not happen.
My experience at Hand and stone was 5-star from beginning to end. From the check in process, the professional and warm greeting, and even a cup of hot tea while I waited for my service, I felt relaxed from the moment I stepped in the door. My treatment was a hot stone massage, which I had not had before. I was asked about what my needs and expectations were & felt in very good hands; The room, bed and aesthetic of the space further enhanced my experience & the massage was AMAZING! I ended up staying for another cup of hot tea and visiting in a quiet area … they couldn’t get rid of me soon enough! I will be back & you should go too!
Front desk lady is awful at customer service. She is completely unaware that customers are paying a lot of money for a nice relaxing experience. I was shocked at how she treated my husband and I. Very condescending. It's a shame because our massages were wonderful. We came out feeling nice and relaxed, but then having to check out with her completely ruined our experience. Leaving us never wanting to go back. They told us on the phone it was $110 for a couples massage, but when we got there it was just magically $100 more?? It’s fine, we’ll pay the money, just don’t lie to us over the phone. Very unprofessional.
Be ware of Introductory discount! I splurged on myself and booked a facial and massage to relax and start the new year with a little self care. They were both AMAZING!! I was rela ed from the massage and glowing from the facial. Then I got hit with the bill. Apparently in 2018 I had been to a hand and stone in another town, maybe another state I really don't know. So I went from paying $69 to $109 per service. An extra $80 at check-out. Shame on you for not letting me know in advance. $80 is alot for me and this should have been brought to my attention before.
I would never go back, even if they gave me a gift car, I was paid for $150 + tip but I will prefer to continue using my daily cleansing routine, I thought they would do a treatment or facial treatmentI request??? they just did the same thing I normally do with creams, I feeling never gave me my request * Deep cleanse, Microdermabrasuon, and LED) Do you Don't waste your money in that place, it is only a franchise and very unprofessional teams, the best thing there are the ladies who are in the front desk GOOD LUCK..
Very clean, warm welcome from staff and easy to check-in. Over-communication with 3 texts and 3 phone calls in an 3 day span about the scheduled appointment after confirming each one verbally. They ask about areas you want extra attention, then during the massage never actually spend time on the areas discussed. Masseuse never inquired about pressure or comfort. Pressure was far too light as if they were feathering your skin, even after explaining the desire for extra firm pressure. Will not go back.
My husband booked for each of us a massage for our 27th anniversary. Although the massage therapist did a good job with my concerns, I got billed for 2 additional add ons that I was not notified they were extra and the cost of them. My husband paid the bill without asking or looking. The receptionist did not solve my issue but the manager called and did the right thing. I would recommend them only because they took ownership of the situation and resolved it. it's the principle that counts.
I've gotten facials at other salons before, but I didn't feel like they actually did anything for my skin. I got the microdermabrasion at Hand and Stone, and was blown away at the dramatic difference I saw in my skin both right after, and in the weeks after! Additionally, my entire visit was soothing and stress-relieving. The staff were kind, welcoming, and very accommodating to any request I had. I'm so glad to finally have a quality spa in San Antonio, and will be back regularly!
Becoming a member at Hand and Stone Massage and Facial spa was the best decision I ever made! I love getting to come in once a month to treat myself to a hot stone massage or a facial with microdermabrasion! All of their service providers are top notch and I would highly recommend the membership to anyone! The environment is very relaxing and they always serve me hot tea. I even buy all of my Dermalogica and Clarity skincare there!
Had the best experience with Hand and Stone at the Quarry! They made the booking process easy and fast, and the staff were very professional and welcoming. I had the signature facial with Dianne who explained the process well, adjusted the room to my liking, answered any questions I had, and provided a calming atmosphere for me to enjoy the treatment. Definitely recommend Hand and Stone at the Quarry!
Front desk contact was welcoming and efficient. Clean, calming facility, restrooms and treatment rooms. I had my 1st facial in 30 years - it was calming & amazing. Thank you Gisette! My husband had a massage. His MT, Adriana listened to his issues and gave a restorative, on point massage. He feels great! Very professional staff. We will be repeat customers! Thank you.
Hand and Stone at the Quarry location was great! The service there was good and I enjoyed both my facial and massage. Lizette was super thorough and did a great job. She was polite and gave great customer service. Anthony who did my massage was awesome! He was detail oriented and was very thorough! I appreciate that they are customer focused.
Had my first facial ever, today. Atmosphere was great, very relaxing. Everyone was very nice and professional. Lizette was truly amazing. She really took an old catchers mitt and made it look like a face again. I looked and felt 10 years younger. Will definitely go back. Lizette, 5 gold stars and two thumbs up girl, my face thanks you!!
I went in for a deep tissue massage with hot stone and a Himalayan salt massage. I immediately felt relaxed, hot stone and Himalayan massage was wonderful. Deep massage wasn’t as deep as I would have preferred. Facial was great.. added on a few extras I believe was the led light and nuface. Very peaceful and relaxing spa
Don’t go here and leave a card on file!! They secretly charged my card for $100 and refused to take ownership and make it right!! I think it’s because they were racist white people honestly because they made small talk with the white ladies and treated me like a second class customer. Not a friendly environment
Nina is an amazing massage therapist. She has been an important part of my recovery from a back injury as well as assisted with of older injuries and pains moving forward. I know I made the right decision getting help with my older aches and pains. I owe Nina alot for all the help she has provided me.
I've been a member since this location opened. My monthly massages with Danika have nearly eliminated my chronic hip pain! Terrific location (I walk there!), it's easy to book appointments online, the store is clean and relaxing and the staff is very pleasant and accommodating.
Enjoyed a 50 minute massage here last week. I get very tight from stress and this was exactly what I needed. Overall I was very impressed, this location is brand new and it was a very pleasant experience. I can’t wait to go back a try one of the facials.
I've been a H&S client for two years. My favorite facials are by April at this location. I ask her to take ten years off my face and dec and she does - she's a magic eraser for the signs of my mid-forties work hard play hard outdoors life.
The receptionist (older Hispanic woman) was VERY RUDE. Visited today, and not a single smile, greeting or common courtesy. My husband and I got sick after our visit today so I don’t believe they sanitize properly in between customers.
Do not recommend. They quoted a certain price on the phone before booking, then charged $30 more when my daughter went in. I tried to speak with a manager, I was told one would call me back but never did. Be careful on pricing.
I like to try out new places. It had a good atmosphere. Everyone was nice. I got there on time but felt rushed to fill out paper work just signed it. Wanted a facial but i settled for a massage. It was relaxing.
I had a wonderful time. I got a deep tissue massage and Swedish massage combo. My therapist, Martha, did a great job. She was attentive and informative to me about what I was going to feel. I would go back.
Was totally disappointed with the service arrangements. I went in for a tutorial for the 30 minutes and was charged $90. I also wasn’t told before the service so that’s on me!
I had a great massage and was really affordable with the intro rate. For being a chain membership message business I was pleasantly surprised and would consider joining.
April was awesome! She gave me a facial that made me feel relaxed and pampered. My skin is very dry and she did exactly what it needed. I definitely will be going back.
Hand and Stone was amazing! Great Service! Lizett was amazing and really took the time to talk to me and get to know my skin concerns before beginning my facial!
One of the best massage place I have been at. Maria was excellent on deep tissue and trigger point. My back was all messed up. I'm feeling awesome now. Thank you
Got the Himalayan stone massage for my mom and I. We both loved it! Left feeling super relaxed and slept super good that night.
Had Justin W. Today . Very good flow pressure and I’ve had a Lot of massages before but he deserves this credit. I’ll be back
Loved visiting the spa for a facial! It was a great experience in a great location! Everyone was friendly and welcoming.
My visit to Hand and Stone was amazing. From beginning to end my experience was top notch. I will definitely return!
I think my massage therapist name was Victor or Vincent...either way, he is a miracle worker!! Love going
Had an incredible deep tissue massage with Lee! By far one of the best massages I’ve ever had!!
Such a great Experience! Nina was amazing and made my back feel a million times better!
