This place is AMAZING. I have 2 daughters who are athletes and one of them couldn't have gone on without HOPT. They really understand patients who are hyper mobile or scoliosis. They use manual therapy. They release you first with trigger point treatment and then utilize muscle energy and other techniques to gently move you back into alignment. If you had an injury just do the home exercises and you will probably be fine after healing. If you are prone to injury, you need to spend time outside of PT getting strengthened. They don't focus on super strength training but they do get you functioning where you are out of pain and can start strengthening. Insurance doesn't pay any PT to train you beyond some corrective exercise. If you are prone to injury/imbalance/ poor posture you need to get serious about strengthening weaknesses and imbalances. If you don't know how to do that, investing in a good personal trainer or a good pilates class might be a better investment than repeated visits to PT or chiropractors. As for HOPT my daughter at college has cried because no PT or trainer can give her the relief HOPT was able to give. As far as the person who accused Dan of not caring...both he and Laurie has worked on for over 2 hours when I came in really messed up from my hyper mobility syndrome. I have NEVER had any other therapist do that. I have tried others during years HOPT wasn't part of our work's insurance plan and finally paid came back and paid out of pocket because they would actually fix me instead of 3 + visits to the PTs on our plan that failed to get me back into alignment. I am not talking only back alignment. Joints can also get our of alignment from overuse due to work or sports. Dan and Laurie continue to study and have picked up more and more amazing techniques and effective home exercises over the years. Sometimes what you feel in your spine or headache is from some misalignment in your feet arches. Other PT will only touch what is on the prescription (back) even if the source is your feet. HOPT is more holistic. Marcos, the newest PT, is well on his way to learning their techniques. If another therapist is open you can ask the front desk if the therapist does Dan's techniques and they will honestly let you know. I can only speak of the therapist I have used. HOPT is excellent, and therefore can be difficult to get into. The first appointment is an eval so needs a longer time slot, which takes a bit of waiting. Get on their cancelation list. Once you get the eval the other appointments are easy to book.

Professional and knowledgeable staff, friendly front desk. The physical therapy they do here is different than most places as there is no emphasis on strengthening. They focus on doing neuro-muscular releases, stretches, isometric exercises, etc. I have had mixed results. For my shoulder/elbow issue it was completely ineffective (and I spent about $400 in treatments since I didn't have insurance at the time). For my neck/back, I had decent results. I think they could improve their therapies by getting patients to work on strengthening as well. In my personal experience, most physical imbalances or injuries eventually need strengthening as well. They do their jobs very well, but it is a very focused type of treatment.

I have had injuries from car accidents, sports, etc. and have tried PT in the past, not believing in it. A friend of mine in yoga one day implored me to give them a try, which I thought why, PT had not worked for me in the past. This place changed my life. They do strain counter strain techniques of adjustments, and train their patients to help themselves with exercises for once specific injuries and issues. I have tried everything, acupuncture, chiropractic, Feldenkreis, and Rolfing. If you want to feel better, and be willing to do your part, meaning follow the exercises daily, this place will make a huge difference in your life, no question

I've worked with Dan McClanahan for the past couple of years on and off. He has helped me to address back and shoulder issues that I have not found comparable help for elsewhere. I sought care from about half a dozen practitioners and Dan was the only one able diagnose and treat the issues I was struggling with. He is truly a healer and there is an energy and attention there present in the office and among the staff and assistance that is magical. It is difficult to get in regularly unless you schedule well in advance- but the care offered here is worth the extra planning. Thanks to everyone at Hands On.

This office is an egotistical landmine. Some therapists are good, and some are not. Scheduling is a major downfall. If no appointments are available, you just don't get treatment, indefinitely. This forces the client to see a variety of staff. Sometimes I left the office in tears, the therapist hurt me that much. But if I did not take that therapist, there were no appointments. I hated it here. I thought they were negligent in care, and client's progress. As long as they had more clients coming in, Dan really did not care.

Monica, the front desk person was very rude and condescending when I called to schedule a appointment. I was told to call back later because she hasn’t checked her voicemails. Im not sure if they treat all potential new customers like this. Hopefully someone from their organization reads this and gives her a general overview of how to speak to people on the phone. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere....

Wonderful, professional physical therapy. The pt sessions are very beneficial as are the exercises I was taught. Dr. Balassone is the best physical therapist I have had.

They really helped both me and my son with some pretty bad back issues. Highly recommended.
