I have been coming here for years since I was a little girl, and it's always been the same people and the same food! I'm pretty sure it's a family run place. The flavor recipes don't seem to change, which is why I really like this place. For your first visit, you should try the sweet and sour chicken and the vegetables fried rice! I've read comments about the staff being rude. I would say so, too, if I hadn't been coming here for years, but they truly aren't. I think it's a cultural thing. Once, I ordered as they were closing, and they still took my order. As I was getting into my car to leave, I realized I had a flat tire. I can change a tire, but I wasn't able to get it off on my own. It was dark, I was alone, crying, and pretty much stranded. As I was dealing with this, the staff was locking up for the night. They saw me there and didn't even ask... they immediately came to help. I was so embarrassed and repeatedly apologized. The lady was so sweet and said it was fine. When they were done, I tried to offer them money for their help, which they refused to take! If that's not customer service, I don't know what is!

Tried calling the order in but the lady on the other line said she couldn't hear us so then I drove there and gave the order to her in person gave her the order She said okay I went out to see my car and wait for it She didn't ask for money or anything then ask her a name but you know I'm pretty unique looking guy I stand out I guess so no big deal Come in after 20 minutes walk to the counter She goes can I help you I said yes I place the order at the counter with you a few minutes ago I canceled the order I'm like why would you cancel the order you said okay I said okay I went out and sat in my car right in front of your establishment so needless to say horrible communication horrible customer service foods pretty good but I'm not have time to deal with that I wasted over an hour and still had no food by the time was said and done between the calling and the driving and the waiting unacceptable

There was hair that was dug deep I went to the lady and said can I get it fresh and she said something they all looked then made it "fresh" , The older lady in the front looks at it I say do u see it she says "yea" pulls it out and it's literally 4-6' in length and she tell the older guy couting up recipe they speak in their language and she throw it then when they bring the rice I take it set it on the plate , the meat honestly looked like little disfigured creatures such as guinea pigs and rats It's grossed out I asked for a refund only on my food my friend finished her cream puffs that were actually good and she just spoke in her language and gave the money but I will never return someone needs to inspect I'm sorry but that's a very outdated business and just filthy !

I love this place but hate it. The man who takes the orders is very very very slow... He takes 5 minutes on each customer maybe because hes old? Every time he turns around to grab a receipt or food it takes him forever to turn around. No one in this place is friendly at ALL..... they don't smile & they never greet anyone. Their prices are a bit pricey but then again you get a lot of food. The place looks so so ghetto from the inside to the outside. It just looks super dirty. But the food here is so different so delicious... that's why I always return dam you Happy Foods I can't quit you!! Overall even if its like 10 bad things vs 1 good thing, that 1 good thing which is delicious food wins.

I'm totally not impressed with the food at all!! 1. There is a charge to get fried rice!! What really makes it bad is it isnt fried rice at all. You are charged more for them to put soy sauce on the rice smh. 2. You only give me ONE sweet & sour sauce (in the little cups) & when I ask for more you tell me "my food doesn't come with the sauce & if I want more then it's 50 cents more for each one." 3. There is not many meals at all that have fried rice & egg roll with it. It seems as if everything is purchased on an individual basis. 4. The food was not good at all. No flavor. I'm from the midwest & really wanted Chinese Food & I was totally disappointed....it is a NO for me.

I have come here for 25 years and I recently moved back in the area and was super excited to go back I am extremely disappointed in the food, the food literally smelled like sewer water and the cleanliness of the place was horrible, the food didn't have flavor to it, not only was the food a huge disappointment but to top it off I asked for chili oil and the lady was adamant about letting me have more than two small containers, I bought four large servings, as she said it was expensive and she bought it at Costco, I couldn't have more than three. Will never come back again.

I have been going here since I was 9 years old and I am now 36. I’m surprised to see some bad reviews being that I’ve never had an issue all these years going here. There are new workers being that the lady retired a few years ago, but other then that everything is always good. Their Mongolian beef (rice on the outside) is add some of their hot oil, It’s the best! So is the chicken chow mein soft noodle, eggs rolls, all their fried rices’, sweet and sour pork and crab puffs. I have been to the one on the west valley about twice and it’s not the same at all.. So needles to say I’ll be sticking to the south side :)

One word CHEATER! I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce. Usually with this dis a type of fried rice such as pork, beef or chicken is included. They tried to give just plain white rice. When I asked the woman to give me beef fried rice instead she told me "Give me 55 cents and I'll give you that. After she gave me the new rice I left. Upon arriving home I opened the rice. It wasn't beef fried rice at all. It was white rice with soy sauce. NO BEEF! The portions were very small to cost $10. I'll never go back and recommend everyone stay away unless you like getting ripped off.

Ive been going to this place for years ordering the same items. I called my order in picked it up the lady on the cash register swiped my debit card. I signed and gave her back the receipt. She answered the phone took 2 seperate orders i remained there because she forgot to give me soy sauce. As soon as I ask for soy sauce she says to me we now charge for spices in your food. You owe me a dollar. Absolutely not. Your error you should have rang it up with the original order. She starts getting loud in told her bad business I will never return and walked out . Smh

Hmmmm. First, dirty front window. Thought to give it a try, sometimes the ‘whole in the wall’ restaurants can be good! (I used to live in The City (SF) and frequented China Town, soooo). I thought Asian cooks, ok I’ll give it a try! We ordered chicken Lo Mein, amd Terriyak chicken—thought they can’t go wrong?!?! Terriyaki chicken looked old, the sauce was salty, the meat was salty! All we could taste on the Lo mein was salt and snow peas! Otherwise no flavor! We didn’t take it back...but we will never go again...and thought to warn everyone else.

I’m never one to give a bad rating, but on this rare experience being so bad I had to let others now. First of all they keep all their supplies all over the front of the restaurant so there’s nowhere to sit. The phone never stops ringing and there’s just one employee answering the phone taking orders and securing food or to go. I wasn’t able to place an order because the phone was busy so I had to come in and place my order which took 49 minutes to prepare. The girl at the front extremely unprofessional and not polite

Since I moved from the west side of Phoenix I felt the Lost of the happy food restaurant on 67th Avenue and Thomas Road then I was informed does the same happy food restaurant also had a location out on the southside of, Phoenix. Elated by that news I promptly got in my vehicle and then proceeded to drive to the location on my map and it was like home away from home especially for somebody who loves and particularly cares for only the happy food brand when it comes to Chinese take out

I grew up on Happy Food, the location on 67th Ave and Thomas Rd.. So when I moved to Laveen, I thought how great there is this location too. The food is not the same. They do not put the pork in the Wontons (lady looked at me as if I was crazy when I asked her) and when you order sweet and sour chicken, it should have sweet and sour sauce. Our lunch combos hardly had any sauce. Looks like if I want good Chinese, I will be taking a little longer drive.

Overall a go to place to eat.... been going there since I can remember. Love there food. I would recommend it to everyone. Of course it's not for everyone. The lady as she is called has been there since I can remember. She is set to her ways and that's fine. I'm there for the food. Do on to others as you would like them to do on to you. That's how it works there. Very simple. The food is great to my taste. You won't know till you try it....

The only reason to go here is the low prices. The food is ok for the price but don't expect anything amazing. I got sesame chicken. The chicken was decent, but I didn't really like the sauce. The storefront itself was also in pretty poor condition. Unless you are just looking for low cost, I would go elsewhere.

Good food is average the service is ok prices are good. The quality of the food needs to improve and seems like they mix in yesterdays food with fresh cooked. I've gone to this location many times before moving out if Phoenix eight years ago but now it's something else. The exterior windows look filthy and thats the impression the new customers get of the location. I will not be going back to this Happy Food location on the south side.

Every time I go here the food is consistently good and fresh. The workers are polite, and I can easily get in and out! Love this place.

This restaurant has been here for ages. The food and the ingredients have not changed over time. Wait time is good. Restroom available. The menu has a wide selection of various dishes. When entering it may not look all that great. However, the food is so tastey and wonderful. If you crave chinese cuisine, head on down to Happy Food on South Central Ave. in Phoenix.

This place is really good . However ,they have on the website that they open at 11:00am and it says open on google. I when at 11:20am and they told me they were close that they don't open until 12:00pm . FALSE ADVERTISMENTE . Very disappointed ! They need to update their hours , I drove 20 minutes to get to this place to be told that they will open at 12:00pm.

The lady is so rude food is alright but bad service, will be coming back!

The food here is amazing. The actual restaurant is very small, hot, and smoky. There is no dine-in. Personally, this is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Arizona even despite the run-down building. Don't expect top of the line service, but you can expect amazing food.

This place has definitely went down hill. Not only does it take forever to order your food but it doesn't tastes as good as it use to. Last time I went two women were prepping the food with no gloves or mask on and 1 of the cooks had no mask and coughing up a storm. I turned around with ordering. Haven't been back since!!!

I actually love the food, been there for years. Seen cashier lady get mad , because someone returned their food. She gave her, her money back and told her not to return. The lady wasn't even being rude. Still gonna eat there, but will only give 1 star for poor customer service!

Anybody on the South Side knows this is the spot for comida china. House fried rice, sweet sour chicken, crab puffs and egg drop soup are THEE best. Must say, if the lady isnt there, wait till she is there again, she IS Happy Food! And everything is ready in 10 minutes!

Stood there for 10 min and no one would take our order so we walked out..if you really want to try what happy for his go to her sister's place over and 67th avenue and Thomas you will get service over there and her food is amazing this place not so much.

I went to try this chinese restaurant because of the reviews. I did not like the food, the Chow Mein isn’t what i thought itd be, it isn’t even cooked, IT LOOKS LIKE COOKED WORMS! or at least that’s how they consider it “done”. Probably won’t go again.

I came here two days in a row. Waited about 10-15 minutes and nobody would open the door. I tried calling too, no answer! This place must not want to make any money. Oh well, I went next door. They are more than willing to satisfy their customers!

FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. I love Chinese food. And having this for the 1st time i was highly disappointed. I threw it away. I have never thrown away Chinese food before. I spent $20 on food and ate probably $3 worth. I'm good off this place.

Food isn't as great as everyone says it is. At least to me I didn't find it amazing but my husband enjoyed it. I got the sweet and sour chicken. Hubby got the fried rice. Was okay for being one of the closest Chinese foods near us.

Delicious food at affordable prices. Advice: when ordering in person or over the phone, if the female answers or is there, the food will be great! She is great! If the male answers or the female is not there, the food will be dry.

This is the best place in the world to get Chinese food. Totally not fake, So real. Does not hurt my stomach like other Chinese places. The people are always so kind and sweet. I feel like they are family.

They got thier fried shrimp and chicken down, really good. Cheap. Really tasty BUT no fresh hot mustard just those lame packets or would be 5 stars. Authentic flavors otherwise.

Be careful with using your card for payment, the guy tends to put his own tip without you being told anything. 15% tip was charged extra on my card without me being acknowledge.

Worst ever! I ordered Kung pow shrimp, what I received was 3 shrimp with celery and onions, that's it! I want my money back! Horrible!! Yes a box full of celery and onions!!!
