This library is NOT A LIBRARY but rather a COMMUNITY centre with books. It's the most noisiest library I have ever visited especially when clients of Peabody are in attendance. You will have no choice but listen to other people's social issues like landlord problems, benefits and relationships with their partners/neighbours. As an academic, I have worked in a lot of libraries. Prior to moving to Harold Hill, I used Stratford and Leytonstone libraries frequently and those libraries understand the concept of a library. Havering council will do well to learn from Newham and Waltham Forest councils pertaining to libraries and also rubbish/recycling management. Havering council overall has a lot to learn. I wonder what my council tax money is used for. I am forced to travel to use other libraries outside of this council. A waste of additional resources.
This review is referring to the turning on of the Christmas tree lights. My 5 year old son was waiting to see Santa and needed to use the toilet. I asked a member of staff if he could use the restroom and was pointed in the direction of a tall man with no hair for a key, by this time my son is desperate. Upon asking the man he told me bluntly that my son could not use the toilet and to use the porta Loo's on the other side of Hilldene and could clearly see my son jumping up and down in desperation. As a result of this my son wet himself had to walk home like this and now thinks this is his fault . No a good experience for me or my son!!!!
Went today with my 8 year old daughter. Lovely modern design. Really well set out and lots of computers for public use. Great kiddies corner too with PC. A lovely interactive table for all ages which was a delight for my girl. Well set out and spacious with chairs to cosy up in and read. I can see my family spending hours here devouring books. I hope it stays clean and tidy as looking new for years to come.
No toilet, I had to leave when I needed to ease myself. Very small quiet reading space, even we we're asked to leave the quiet room because they had a meeting, I ended up sitting where the person next to me was chatting on her phone and therefore could not concentrate. Upstairs space should have been designed for quiet reading. Closing too early. Too noisy should have been called community center
I love the new library, very beautiful but should have been named a call centre. Can't read here piano playing, noise from everyone that's in. Not a reading place.
Lovely well mannered staff, super clean and presentable property. The young lady at the reception was exceptionally welcoming to my shy toddler.
Very friendly staff that are always happy to help. The library is a reasonable size and has computers for public use.
Its been around longer than me. Many memories here. Shame it is being moved and the old site demolished.
Fab team that work here, extremely friendly and helpful.
It's good but I think it closing time is absurd
Helpful staff and quiet place to study.
Great place for studying.
Very well organised.
Love it
