Where to I start? Our flight arrived at 8pm Friday night in Sept. Check in at the front counter at Hertz was easy though they made an announcement that anyone who made a reservation that day or looking to make a reservation today they would not be accepting the reservation as they have a limited number of cars, that should’ve been the first indicator. Luckily, we made our reservation months in advance, so we weren’t too concerned. On our walk over to the parking garage our second warning flag should’ve been the massive line at Avis as there were no lines at any of the car rental companies. We waited for 1.5 hours for a car. The Hertz parking lot was empty. THERE WERE NO CARS, just 4 EV cars and that was it. They kept trying to push an EV car on us. “You want an EV car? You want a Tesla? I know you want a Tesla, they’re so fun to drive we got one right here.” Everyone in the line was refusing the EV cars, we specifically booked a gas car because we were road tripping into the mountains for a wedding and did not want to be confined to finding EV chargers throughout our say. They kept pushing EV on us. Everyone waiting in line kept refusing. They even said that its looking like they’re only going to have EV cars for the rest of the night so we better start thinking which one we wanted. I felt so bad for the employees, it was added stress that they did not anticipate, a few apodized but you can tell they were stressed. We missed some wedding events because of the incompetence of this Hertz company. Hertz has been advertising so much that EV cars are “so great” but when people booked in advance for a specific type of car they better have what we ordered. They didn’t even offer anything for compensation, just if we took an EV car we didn’t have to return it back fully charged. 1.5 hours later ONE gas car rolled in to the parking lot, and by some miracle we were the next in line to be placed in a car. Hertz looked at our ticket and realized that the car that just came in was not the type of car we specifically booked for our rental, they were just about to refuse this car to us but I think they saw our faces and let us take this one car. We sped out of there so fast out of fear they’d take this car away from us. The drop off was easy on Sunday evening and to our surprise, their parking lot was completely full of cars. We dropped and left, nothing much to say here. But wow what a nightmare.
Edit: Another Update: They charged me for a FLA toll road PlatePass today, even though we stayed in NC the entire trip. I cant get someone on the phone, this has been the wildest experience with a rental we've ever had. STAY AWAY. Edit: Update - the rental left on a tow truck because the brakes gave out. This has been the worse rental experience of our collective lives. Still haven't gotten a HUMAN to speak with. This cost over $455 for just rental (wed-sat) alone, not including fee's and deposits. If I could give Hertz negative stars, I'd do so. I rented a Chevy Camaro SS Convertible for a beach trip, and the CLT Airport staff was nice. That's where it ends, and Hertz has offered NO recourse. On pickup, in the dim garage, I couldn't see very well. When I got to the gate, I asked to walk around the car with the gentlemen checking me out to assure I wasn't charged for pre-existing damage. He sternly told me to stay in the car (my mask was on, we adhere to social distancing) and "don't worry about it". When I stopped at a gas station, I got to see the grossest rental I've ever had. There are tons of dents and scraped wheels, but the worst is that the drivers side door had what appeared to be mucus on it, smeared everywhere. The seats have mucus on them, the console is gross (finger nails, hair, and who knows what). I wiped much of it off with hand sanitizer before I got home to take pictures. Hertz support suggests I turn around and go back to the airport and hope they have a similar 'Premium' vehicle. STAY AWAY, really, this *during a pandemic* is inexcusable.
I encountered a highly distressing incident at the "Dollar Car Rental", owned by Hertz, during my inaugural visit to Charlotte airport on 11/18/2023. The desk agent, Zara, exhibited a shocking lack of professionalism. Despite my request, she declined to disclose her last name or initial and was conspicuously devoid of any identification, such as a name tag. Zara went to the extent of threatening to void my reservation, when I returned to the counter after she neglected to tell me how to find the rental vehicle I just paid for.. Additionally, Zara proceeded to audibly assert, seemingly with the intent to embarrass, that the next counter shares ownership with the company, Hertz, [so I can keep walking and not stand in the neaby line]. Such behavior is utterly unacceptable and reflects poorly on the quality of personnel and customer service. Traveling, particularly alone with children, is inherently stressful. The actions of this employee, coupled with her apparent lack of understanding, raise serious concerns about her suitability for a role that involves frequent interaction with the public, especially during periods of heightened tension caused by unforeseen travel delays. I am prepared to engage in a detailed discussion with Dollar regarding this deeply unprofessional incident.
Cars are great! Staff is a disaster. This is the first time we had a bad experience at Hertz. App didn't work for in parking-lot pickup. Staff was unapologetic and angry that we were frustrated. They verified our name and reservation and ID after and told us to take any car in the SUV isle. We loaded bags, and went to exit. At the exit they told us that our reservation had been cancelled at the counter and we needed to go back to counter. We backed up and returned to the counter and they said I needed to pay again because original reservation was canceled. At this point I began to suspect that the cancelation was intentional to mess with us for being upset earlier! I gave them my credit card and they charged 2x original price. We didn't notice until after we got back in car! Went back to counter for the third time and they told us that they could not change the charge, and that this was the rate same day rental for the car we had chosen. I tried to explain that we had a reservation that they canceled and they should honor it but they kept saying.... "Yea but that's the price for the for renting the car we had chosen same day.". We ended up getting it fixed after a 1 hour phone call but we won't go to Hertz at this airport again!
What a disaster. Our fight was delayed coming into CLT. My wife called the Hertz there and the outgoing message says they close at 1. No problem, we would have an hour to spare. When we arrived the office was closed. We approached some of the staff working the gates and were told, “We always close at 12. What do you want me to do about it?” The lady was yelling at my wife. Luckily, our hotel was close so a can ride got us where we needed to go. My wife returned the next morning only to discover that the posted hours of operation are from 6:00am to 1:00 am. The customer service line was backed up and there were only two employees working the desk. I have worked in customer service and sales for 20 years. Not all customer interactions go as smoothly as we like, and gate employees may not be the best folks for handling customer service issues. But just get the basics right, okay? Post the correct hours. Make sure it is reflected in all your communications. We were not the only family impacted by this. Two other customers approached the same folks as us that night. With no recommendations for cabs, busses, nothing. Your company screwed up. Take some ownership.
So all of the poor reviews are correct. Whoever is managing this location is a crook. Rent elsewhere at this airport. My story is that I rented a vehicle for a junior employee with full insurance. He arrived at the location for the rental and showed them the insurance and they told him this insurance i bought with the rental online didn't matter and he needed to pick one. When he brought back the receipt for the forced insurance charges, it totaled $350 USD extra above the cost of the 4 day rental and online insurance costs. The overages costed more than the rental. I tried calling the location on multiple attempts and was unable to get through and all voicemail boxes are full. Customer service was not able to help as they said this was a branch issue. Its hard to resolve a branch issue from across the country when the branch doesn't pick up. Be very careful of this location as you will never be able to resolve disputes on your bill. Hertz has lost my personal and corporate business forever.
***DO YOURSELF, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR SANITY A FAVOR AND READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS***. I gave this fraudulent operation 5 stars JUST to get your attention. Now that I have it, please know that these clowns aren’t just SHADY, they’re running a full-fledged SCAM and apparently have been for YEARS. I’ll spare you the gory details, but if you’re into getting ripped off and NEVER, EVER ABLE TO GET SOMEONE, ANYONE ON THE PHONE, then Hertz is right for you. Manager’s “business card” doesn’t even have a phone number on it NOR can you EVER even just CALL any Hertz location directly, if that tells you anything. (It SHOULD tell you EVERYTHING.) Unbelievable. You know how sometimes you have to diminish your humanity by spending *10* or so minutes “telling” an automated system the reason for your call, ONLY TO WIND UP BACK WHERE YOU STARTED??? Or, MY favorite, getting disconnected *altogether*. TY for reading. I feel (somewhat) better now. I’m off to drink a box of wine and smoke an ounce. Peace.
My experience was not a favorable 1. I asked to speak with a manger and was asked why from 2 employees. 1 sent me back to the office instead of calling the manager. The other went back and forth and told me I should have known certain info. Upon speaking to the manger shaban after waiting over 20 minutes he also told me what I should have known. What we should not do is assume and customer care should be more personable or on 1 accord. I will sadly miss a very important family event today due to the inconvenience. I had no idea you may only swipe twice or they will not rent to you at all. The Lady told me one amount and charged another was ready to process me with the bank on the phi e and told me in that moment we can't swipe again or rent to you at all today. My aunt is a gold member here, I signed my business up as well as the company I work for. One inconvenience risked the business or 3 business accounts. No one person was apologetic or took accountability.
Only reason I'm giving 1 star is because Customer Service tried their best to help me over the phone. The location gave me a car with mechanical brake and rotor issues that could've ended badly! I traveled too far before I realized it and was unable to get a trade because there weren't any available in the area I was in. The car wasn't able to be fixed after traveling to 2 different locations. What was supposed to be a 24hr trip turned into 48hrs of misery. What should've been a 3.5 hr drive was a 7hrs slow drive so that I could make it back safely to return the car. I will be reaching out when time permits for a refund and compensation as I had to call off work and the time inconvenience. None of this would have happened had they inspected the car properly before renting it out. Putting customers in danger due to negligence is pure irresponsibility and ridiculous. I pray this doesn't happen to anyone else.
The staff here were so helpful! I had reserved a car online but unfortunately when I got there and saw it in person I realized it wasn't quite big enough for what I needed. I asked them if there was any chance that I could upgrade from a small to a mid-sized car and they assured me I could just for a small upgrade. The only problem with that was that it was a very busy day there and cars were coming and going pretty fast! I literally saw one of the employees chase down another to make sure that the car I wanted wasn't given to someone else. One side note for those who are considering using Hertz: These guys go through a lot. Many of them work long hours and have to deal with impatient tourists and visitors. Don't be surprised if you talk to an employee who seems curt with you. I've always found that as long as I am respectful, kind, and clear in what I need from them, they are always very helpful.
The worst. I had booked an electric car on special figuring they would have info on charging stations. No. The agent was polite and suggested I Google for locations with at least 100 kW where I would be traveling or it could be hours. Nearly all were in the 6-10 range. Not wanting to have the car die in the middle of nowhere or have to sit for hours for a charge, I took the agent's suggestion of an upgrade to a Corolla. That cost over $300. I considered cutting the trip short along the way and wanted to talk to someone about cancelation fees and refunds. I finally maneuvered through the automated system to be in a long queue to talk to a real person. She sounded so unsure of her answer that I would get my money back for the unused time that I decided to just stick it out. Never again will I rent from Hertz. Bait and switch tactics with price gouging once you're stuck with them.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Instead of $138, this location charged me $538 to include a $400 “outside washing” fee. They would not check the status of the car while dropping off, instead insisting that I leave the keys inside and walk away. I knew better so I took videos while picking up and dropping off the vehicle (see attached). It’s in the same condition in both videos, which for the record, were taken the same day. I picked up the car, drove to a baby shower and restaurant, and dropped it off that night. Nothing warranting 5x the amount I agreed to pay for “outside washing”. Do not rent from this agency, and if you do, be sure to take videos so they don’t stick you with unwarranted charges after the fact! Never even sent a receipt; I had to search their website to “request” one. Very sketchy…
This is probably my worst experience renting a vehicle ever…. The check out process at the counter was easy and quick… I rented a Tesla model 3( first time using an ev car) to travel out of town…… There were ev stations all around the location but the one Tesla station there didn’t work…. The car wasn’t equipped with an adapter to charge the vehicle….. I tried calling the office(no answer)and customer service( they hung up)… they also wanted to charge me for a premium roadside assistance because of something they didn’t put in the car that was supposed include…. I was nearly stranded and hertz was no help …. Be sure to check everything on the cars even if they assure you that everything is there….I took the car back earlier because it was such a headache…
Checking out the car was fast and efficient, as I’m leaving with the car I check and let the attendant know the mileage for gas it wasn’t full. She then told me she wasn’t looking for that mileage she was for for how many was on the car . I asked again if she didn’t need that number. She instructed no. So I took a picture of the gas and miles on the car before leaving parking garage . I left with the gas being at 393 to empty and the miles at 9129. I returned the car at 494 to empty for gas and miles 9845. I instructed the manager about this issue he simply tells me the system says it was full even after showing him pictures and told me have a good day. Car rode good and it was cleaned . But I felt like I was cheated out of gas.
Good cars, terrible logistics. Checked in on the app and was supposed to be able to just get my car number off the board and walk out without and counter time... except that my name wasn't on the board and I had to wait in line for a 1/2 hr to get that sorted out. On return, there was no one to check the car in - staff at the counter said that's fine, as long as you left the keys in the car we'll get it. When I got the invoice however it showed that I had returned the car two hours late and a surcharge of $43.94 for those two hours.... I had actually returned the car an hour early. I only rented from Hertz this time because National was out of cars, next time I'll make sure I book a little earlier so I can go with National.
After a red eye flight and a nightmare in the airport where everything went wrong and nobody was helpful, our car rental was smooth and easy thanks to Ranita! She is pleasant, efficient, and an excellent employee overall. She is a real gem, and you guys are would do well to give her a raise and anything else it takes to keep her on your staff. The young man in the garage (whose name I failed to get) was also helpful and friendly. Your employees helped remind us that traveling on a budget doesn’t need to be a painful experience - quite the opposite! I posted this review under the CLT dollar rental page since that’s who we rented from, but they seem to share some employees and resources so I wanted to post here as well.
Tim from Hertz Car Rentals truly went above and beyond to assist me during a challenging situation. Despite arriving just 30 minutes before their closing time, and with a very limited amount of cars available, Tim managed to find a solution for me. His kindness and understanding were a breath of fresh air amidst the chaos of flight cancellations and bad weather. Not only did he help me, but he also dedicated his time to assist others in similar predicaments. Tim's exceptional customer service made a lasting impression, turning a stressful night into a positive experience. That hertz location has one amazing employee & im grateful he was there to help last night. THANK YOU TIME!
Rented a car with an infant car seat. When we arrived, they had zero infant car seats. Employees first tired to get me to accept a toddler car seat that was comically too large for my son. Employees then told me to buy one at a local store and return it to the store at the end of my trip. I refused. I had to wait for 2 hours for them to get a car seat for my reservation as the other rental companies were sold out. When I got to the car, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree with warning lights. They had to find me another car. They gave me a $25 coupon for my next rental. The earth will be a cold lifeless rock before I rent a car from them again.
We had an issue mid way through our rental and at first were told they couldn’t switch us for a different vehicle but the manager James Ortiz overheard me talking with my husband on the phone in the lot about the issue and not only made the effort to approach me and ask what the issue was but helped us get it resolved and got us into a new car within 5 minutes! Cannot recommend this location enough thanks to James and our wonderful experience with him! He seemed to genuinely care about us and providing a positive customer experience! We honestly couldn’t have been happier with our experience and will certainly rent from this location in the future!
So after waiting over an hour in line to check in and get our car, they were unable to add a second driver to the rental, but could somehow add on insurance and fueling options. The initial online registration could not let us add the second driver and said to do it when we picked up the car. Then despite the Toll easy pass we had to pay $9.95 'convenience fee' for $2.65 in Tolls which we found out about a week after flying back home. Tell me, how is overcharging me for something I am already paying convenient? I am sure it is buried in the small print somewhere, but I certainly couldn't find it. Do I recommend? No not really.
As a Hertz Five Star Member, I am very disappointed and will no longer be using Hertz. My car was ready on my arrival. However I waited 45 minutes for the reserved car seat. When it arrived, it was missing padding. I was told there are no other options for car seats, and I needed my child to be safe. I requested that I not be charged for the seat and the agent said "don't worry, I'll take care of it". I was still charged, and when I reached out about the charge was told "the pad was there when you picked up the car" and I was still charged. Corporate brushed off my concerns. Never again, Hertz.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport Ok....if you are renting coming off an airplane and do not need any assistance, then it is probably 4 Star. IF, they have cars to rent. People have experienced no cars available to rent. If you need assistance, such as help with the rental, I would NOT recommend renting from the airport. It is a TOTAL Cluster F. 0 Stars. The signs are not clear. You MUST PAY to park in Hourly Parking. It is such a confusing MESS. You can NOT drive to the airport, park and get out of your car, and assist someone with a rental. Forget it!!! Go to an independent lot.
To be clear, the staff at this location were wonderful. The company, Hertz, is not. In Winston-Salem, NC they have closed locations with signage still up, Google still has them as open, and if you accidently return a car to a closed location after hours there is NO SUPPORT NUMBER TO CALL. It was very unclear how to return a car to Smith Reynolds Airport. The Hertz website gives an inactive number to call for past rentals. The Charlotte Airport location is unable to help with the issue nor has corporate been supportive. Meanwhile they keep charging me money!! The nerve.
Probably one of the worst rental car experiences I’ve had. When we showed up they couldn’t process my reservation that I had already paid for so I had to pay again for the car. Then they brought the Tesla I had reserved over and when I got in I had a flat tire and the air bags were not functioning properly along with some other errors. All they had left was a gas SUV that also had some stains and damage inside. I’ve been on the phone with hertz all morning trying to get a partial refund and their customer service is anything but helpful.
Was helpnat the counter by a wonderful service agent, and all my questions were answered. Had a reservation for a small luxury suv coded (H4), & when I went to the stall where it was there was a midsized Suv (T4). Not sure if it was a complimentary upgrade, but it was a nice suprise! Was comfortable & fully loaded for a round trip to Columbia, SC and back in a few days. Seated 6 people comfortably (seats 7), & got alot of compliments. There were no issues withbthe process, & it took about 15 minutes. Would definitely rent again.
Incredibly nice staff! There was an issue with my reservation with another company and all the rental car agencies at the airport were sold out. The manager at Hertz made an exception and got me a rental car for my trip at the same rate (significantly lower than the current rate) as my prior reservation. Best customer service of any rental car agency I have ever worked with!! I so appreciated their help as my flight had got in late and I would have had to delay my trip and get a hotel in Charlotte if not for their help!
Hertz cancelled my reservation randomly 2 weeks ago (15 days prior to pick up) and did not notify me, yet continued to email me "get ready for your pickup" emails with my reservation number up to 12 hours prior to the reservation. Had I not just tried to pull up my reservation I'd have arrived tomorrow and had no reservation. They say it was done over the phone but I did not call them or cancel it. They tried to give me a worse car for a higher price and will not make this right. Going with enterprise instead.
Friendly service. My Polestar 2 wasn't fully charged when I picked up the car but 85% was enough to get me around Charlotte and still had about 50% charge at the end of the rental period. Great first time EV driving experience. Small hiccup when the side mirrors didn't work. Mirrors were programmed for the last driver. Had to Google how to reset the mirrors. On the driver's door, press the left & right mirror buttons at the same time to restore mirrors and erase the previous saved settings.
Terrible experience! Being a Gold Plus and President Circle member, the app showed me to head to the counter and did not allow me to Check In via the app. Waited at the counter for 20mins and when I reached the front, I was told that since I’m a member, I need to go to a different counter. Went there an waited for another 7 mins and was told to go directly to the car and wait as they are still bringing them in. First time I experienced such a horrible service being a member.
The counter personnel at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport are shady. When asked if you want to add the additional insurance charges (Loss Damage and Liability Insurance) to your rental and you respond NO, they will add them in anyways and hope you don't notice before signing the agreement. Once the agreement is signed Hertz will not refund the extra charges that their shady counter person added in because "it is not their fault". Would give zero stars if I could!
The pickup, return, and car choice went smoothly. However, I didn't realize until getting my final bill that the Hertz rep that I checked in with for pickup decided to add on an extra $200 worth of additional upgrades on his own accord and never gave me any information about them or even the option to agree to adding them in the first place. Incredibly unprofessional, you need to inform customers and give them the option on whether they would like upgraded options or not.
If I could give Hertz 0 stars, I would. Booked a rental, downloaded the app and made and account at they said this would be “faster and easier.” Only to show up to no booking under my name. Went to the help desk and they were unable to help so we had to call customer service who was also unable to help. Will definitely be finding a different service to use from here on out and will not recommend this to anyone I know looking for an efficient and easy rental process.
If you don’t want people in your work space after hours then I suggest locking every point of access and placing the appropriate signage would be very helpful. Please don’t do to this place prior to 6am as they are not open till then and the rude entitled person let’s you know that immediately. Why are you at an international Airport if you’re not open 24hr. Be advised that if you fly in to Charlotte after 1am, you will not get a rental car from hertz until 6am.
Two bad experiences in one week 1. We went to the front desk and did wait back on the line with nobody else waiting for more than 15 minutes even if there were at least 4 people on front of the pc 2. Back from internal flight at midnight, we had car reserved, but no car available at all. No way to get explanation. We got service refused even if contract signed in the hands. We had to take a taxi Please improve the service level and the car availability
WARNING if renting a #TESLA, they will mislead you at the counter! The counter agents will tell you that unless you already own a Tesla, your auto insurance will not cover your rental. I was misled at the counter and had to pay for insurance that was more than the car. It is not true. The Capital One Venture credit card covers it and State Farm said it was covered under my auto policy and that they have never heard that before. Avoid this junk fee!
Had personal car problems and had to rent a vehicle. Rented vehicle for five days, but needed it only for one day. After calling customer service, was informed that I couldn't return vehicle early and had to pay for the five days. I still returned the vehicle one day early at the CLT and will make sure I and everyone I know never rents from Hertz, as they will only look to scam normal citizens in a jam. Abe J Pacheco
Having had recent horrible experiences at other agencies, I tried Hertz and their Gold Plus Reward Membership. This allowed me to skip the insane counter lines that have been all too common. I picked the level of car I needed and went straight to that row. Took a car and all I needed was my license and credit card to exit. The return was equally easy. Car was mechanically sound. I won't use anyone else in the future.
When we got there, we were told there was no sedans available. When we asked how long it’ll take, they couldn’t give us an answer. However, Ryan came up to us and after we explained we were already late to a wedding due to a flight delay, he ran throughout the garage to get us our rental. And within 5 minutes, we were in our rental car. Hertz would’ve been an unpleasant experience if it wasn’t for Ryan!
It was a thrill driving this special edition 2019 Corvette made by GM to celebrate Hertz's 100th Anniversary! I had car #33 and the Hertz Representative was simply amazing. She made that conversion happen from my standard reserved rental to this car. There was no pressure at all. She even came outside, showed me the features and function of the car and loaded my luggage. Excellent service!
As Oct 2023 they are forced you take EVs without warning. I asked for a replacement, they told me I would have to pay for an upgrade. Those polestar cars are so confusing to drive , and you have to scramble with apps for charging. Not ideal for highway travel. And .. infotainment system based on Android but doesn't support android auto... Go figure. Awful experience overall.
HORRIBLE!!! I had a reservation for 10pm até the airport. Got there from my flight and the lady ate the hertz counter kust looked at me and said they didn’t have a car for me. Said I could pick up next day if I wanted to. DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE A SINGLE TIME. ON THE CONTRARY, was rude about it. I am never renting with hertz ever again and im telling everyone I know about it.
Yesterday I had an issue with getting a paper receipt on 3/18. I had a one way rental. I am aware of the paperless receipt but my company does require paper copies as well. Ms Nicole, I’ve dealt with you twice prior to yesterday and not sure sure what was going on yesterday, but to be dishonest about the process! You really inconvenienced me for no damn reason!!!
This location stole over $300 from my wife using their shady business practices. We went back to this location and they said there is nothing they can do and to call the help desk. Same story they pointed us pack to the store location in a circle. Hertz has taken money from us and claimed it would be returned a week after our rental the money is still gone.
I thought that the pricing was very deceptive. I was told verbally that my fuel purchase option was $3.41 but was charged $47.73 which I found extortive. Also, when I booked a car on Priceline, I purchased insurance through the website although customer care told me that I would have to pay an additional amount to insure the vehicle throughout my rental.
Pickup experience was ultimate, car was cleaned and sealed, but I took image later. Keys left inside cleaned sealed car, I got an email with stall number and license plate information to pickup easily. Definitely recommend Hertz and may be create your profile and add payment information to your profile so that they can charge you to keep the car ready
The folks that work here are great, but their computers are so old that they could not handle more than one processing agent at a time. They kept crashing, and the employees had to manually write the contracts. It took hours, and this is unacceptable. Management needs to provide functional equipment and update their hardware so this does not repeat.
Worst experience ever. Car was a piece of junk, no safety features working should not have been on the road. Promised points for compensation, never received, promised call back re experience, never happened. Do not rent from Hertz, they are no longer the company they claim or used to be. They do not care. Buyer beware, you have been warned.
They have a great car selection however the reason for my one star review is because Justin was just down right rude. I think in his mind he was being playful but it was rude and hurtful. And it seems like I wasn’t the only one there is numerous people who also thought the same way. Maybe some customer service training might be beneficial.
Got scammed by the agent who fast-talked us into an upgrade at check-in. Assured us our upgrade to SUV would be X amount, we repeatedly clarified that there would be no extra charges, and then we were indeed charged almost $200 for the upgrade that we never would have approved otherwise. Looking back, that was the obvious intention.
Terrible experience after using Hertz for years. Extra $130 charge on my rental despite being returned full, clean and on time. Completely unable to get a receipt - nothing emailed to me, phone is completely automated and useless, even the employees in the physical location couldn’t help. Ended up having to chargeback. Never again.
We had a mixed experience at this location. The front desk associate was really nice and respectful to the customer. When I went to the pick up the car in parking, I didn’t liked it (car condition was like it has driven 100k miles and when I asked the associate respectfully if I can get another option, she was very arrogant).
Hertz confirmed a reservation for me and the service manager confirmed that there was available inventory but refused to rent a car despite my confirmed reservation and nobody on line behind me. Absolutely abhorrent customer service and the approved reservation caused me to leave the airport due to a delayed connecting flight
Land at Charlotte airport Have a hertz reservation Forget it Go to national Go to enterprise Landed Went to get cat 30/40. People standing in line 2 people at counter Blew off reservation Walked over to national Instant service People delighted to help me hook up my phone to gps Rent someplace else !!!!!! Dr Arnold saslow
Usually I love hertz, but this was the worst rental car experience I’ve ever had. Showed up and there were no cars. Then they found a car and it had a half tank of gas. Returned it with almost full tank, confirmed with the agent, then got charged for fuel. As well as an additional day. This happened on 4/4/23.
My absolute favorite Hertz location. I've never had a bad experience here and they are really great about making sure you're satisfied. From the front counter to the attendance out in the lot. Selection has always been robust and they are quick to accommodate. Thank you to the crew here!
Reserved a gasoline car weeks before picked up, they failed to honor my reservation, and only had an EV. What a horrible experience trying to drive an EV 400 miles. Had to recharge 3 times. 7.5 hour drive turned into 15, missed Thanksgiving diner. It HURTS to rent with Hertz!!!!!!
Worst experience I have had stateside with a car rental agency. Deceptive pricing (Price changed by $800), apathetic employees (told me tough luck), disorganized management (didn't even realize that we didn't take one of their cars and tried to get me to give it back to them).
I wanted to give a glowing review to Ms Georgia. Anytime I rent she is awesome, helpful and pleasant. She is customer service at its best. I love seeing her smiling face when i need help. Never a bad experience. Hertz, you need more Ms Georgia's there. Give her a raise
Car selection is great but the checkout process is consistently awful. 20+ minute wait to get checked out no mater the time of day / day of the week. Associates blame the Hertz system consistently but have not run into anything like this at any other Hertz facility
It's easy to do business with this location and the prices are fair. I enjoy being able to walk to the designated parking area and have multiple cars to choose from. Checking out and in is a breeze... Hertz is my preferred rental company when I am in Charlotte.
We had the best service, we had in year! The staff was so helpful and friendly in fixing a issues, and getting a car for vacation. The Support Laschell provided so helpful, as we fixed a concern she helped many other with the same attitude! Thank you!
Scammers charged me $50 on fuel even though I return with full tank. Make sure you have the final receipt before leaving the rental car. In my case, the lady asked to leave once I have return the car and later got an email receipt with fuel charges.
When I arrived, did not have the car I reserved which was a mid-size gas SUV. All they had were electric SUV's which I specifically did not want due to distance to my destination. Had no place to recharge and ended up paying the recharge fee.
I’ve traveled to Charlotte several times over the last few years and have used Hertz every time. My experience has always been top notch. Very friendly and professional staff and I’ve rarely had any issues with the reservation or the vehicle.
I pre paid for a reservation. My flight got delayed. I called multiple times and customer service said if my flight was delayed they would wait. I called the actual store seven times and nobody answered and there was no room left to leave a
Manager on duty March 12, 2023 for outside pickup made this the worst car rental experience i’ve ever had. THEIR system messed up 3 times. Booked a car that was on the website, that apparently wasn’t there. I was done told I could pick any
Originally my family and I booked a rental car from dollar, but wound up having a wonderful experience with hertz. We were traveling from California to Charlotte and experienced flight delays that lead us to land Charlotte after midnight.
big shout out to Leslie and Anita - we are gold members and there was some sort of confusion with our reservation details - they were very compassionate and caring with us and our dilemma and were able to secure us a car within 30 minutes
I turned the vehicle in on a Friday about 3:00 pm. There was nobody there to check the car back in, but no worries, it's a drop and go location, so I left key in car (along with several other renters in line) and caught my flight. I did
I hold President circle statusvand when Hertz screws up everything and tells me I'm a new member. You are losing my business because you caused me 1 hour plus trying to get a car that should show since it was reserved 1 month prior
I got a car from this location that died a couple of days into my trip. Hertz corporate came and hauled it away. Said I needed to contact the branch for a refund. Been trying for days. Can’t get anyone to answer the phone.
booked my hire car through dollar who were very helpful and professional but as they didnt have the suv type in they radioed through to hertz who did the hertz staff were great and answered everything I needed to know
Wow, easy in and easy out. They said pick a car from the gold lot, the agent on-foot walked me to a row of cars, said the keys were in them and jump in & I'm all set. :) never experienced that before, best yet.
Remember that time I tried renting an electric car? Then was asked by 3 different employees if I wanted the electric car. Then was "upgraded" to a 1998 (sarcasm) Ford escape, with power windows! Jesus.
Check-in is very easy and you can choose your favorite car among multiple cars. When the car returns, the staff is very kindly and works speedy. You can also choose the premium car(such as Corvette)!
We had what was an originally bummer experience the start of our trip, but when we returned to get another vehicle Stephanie was able to assist to her fullest and to remedy the situation on her level
This location is awesome!! The people were pleasant from rental to return. The only thing I don't like is they choose the vehicle for you. I didn't like my vehicle. So I can't give it a good rating.
I travel in and out of the CLT airport frequently for business. Overall, it has been very smooth and efficient. In the past, some employees helped me find a car that I liked and felt safe in.
I am a Gold member. Car not available at gold counter. Waited in line for 30 min. Prepaid for my car. My credit card number changed due to fraud and they won't give me my car or my money back.
I have rented cars with almost all other rental companies (Enterprise has always been the best) but because of my recent experience at Hertz I will never again give them my business.
I rented a tesla to try it out and it was good! I'm still not a full electric fan but it was fun. Hertz is definitely easy to rent from and quick especially if you book in advance.
1st time, as a Gold Club member that I had to wait on a car. Still giving them a 4 star because it was a 1st and I travel a lot. Staff tried their hardest to get us a car quickly.
May was amazing the app was glitching and I was in a rush and she took care of the problem manually, saved me some money and got me taken care of fast. Excellent customer service.
This Hertz location is easy to get to and has friendly staff. The selection of cars was a little low, but I won't put that on the location, but on the time of year.
Top notch staff and an excellent selection of cars. Hertz is a great choice for personal and business travel needs. Their status program is unbeatable!
SCAM SCAM. I returned a vehicle on FULL past the F and they secretly charged me $15 for one gallon of gas. Now I have to submitt receipts this is crazy
Bring your patience! Staff was friendly. Best if you booked direct with Hertz as a gold member then you'd not have to wait in a ridiculous line.
Hertz never seems to let me down. Really enjoyed the staff and team here in NC. Recommend booking in advance for your next rental. Awesome
Do not recommend this company. They charge you extra for nothing and they don't respect your time. Never again!!!!!! 0 Stars
Booked a car, showed up to get car, they don’t have one, had to sleep in the airport. Not even an apology.
