After our long-term mechanic retired and closed his shop we began an arduous search for a new shop to service our vehicles. It was not a welcomed task as past experiences after losing our mechanic of choice weren't always pleasant or successful. We were specifically looking for mechanics exhibiting at least minimal levels of competency, multi brand knowledge and experience, honesty, ethics, willing to listen to our concerns and needs without talking over us and insisting on "their way or the hiway". We solicited recommendations from friends, Nextdoor Social media platform, Google, BBB, and auto parts suppliers. We assembled a sizeable number of recommendations, chose those within five miles and called them all trying to sort out potentials to examine further. We culled the list down to a manageable number (15) for in-person visits. Over a period of two months in our spare time we visited each one posing questions as to how they might proceed in addressing symptoms we were experiencing with two of our seven vehicles. Most shops visited were polite and patient with us, some were not. A few were downright rude and scary. Some may have been having a busy or bad day and could have come across differently on another day, but others I'm sure it wouldn't have mattered. After much time and effort we ended up with four potentials that appeared to be up to our expectations. One focused primarily on Prius Hibrids (we don't have one) and seemed quite competent, another indicated he would be retiring soon, and two appeared to posses our desired characteristics and we felt would work out for us. We chose the closer of the two. We took a vehicle in that had multiple intermittent symptoms and complex problems that a few shops indicated multiple systems needed to be replaced. Seemed like a shotgun approach to us. One shop we tried tinkered with it for two days and indicated they were too busy and wouldn't have time for it. After completing our time intensive search for a new shop we chose "Hi-Tech Auto Repair" on NE Sandy Blvd in Parkrose and were impressed by how quickly they zeroed in on the problem and had it fixed. We also had them address a few other issues with the car and were pleased with the result. We appreciated their willingness to indicate needed repairs that could wait a bit if finances were a concern. The repairs weren't cheap,, but we feel we were treated fairly. That was over three months ago and it's still runs great. Last week we had them work on one of our trucks that quit running some time ago and needed some repairs. It now runs great and we are going to have them address a few other needs that accumulated after losing our previous mechanic (waiting to long to effect repairs can "bite" you in the wallet as time isn't kind to vehicles that sit for a long time! Listen to the lady in your life as most often she's right! ;o). I am becoming increasingly convinced that we may have identified "Hi-Tech Auto Repair" as our new go-to mechanic shop.

Customer be aware of friendly faces and competitive pricing:- About two years ago I paid them $450+ to have the water pump replaced and do a coolant flush job on my WK1 Jeep GC, not to mention that my coolant system was never normal since but glad that the 3.7 engine survived their sloppy job, yesterday I did replace the water pump my self and found the root to their horrible work, below should summarize their negligence/ incompetence:- - Using excessive amount of Silicon on top the O-Ring which if it is not an incompetence then it is a bad practice, because you never use silicon with O-Ring - improperly torque the water pump in place caused clearance on the bottom portion of the pump and that clearance/gap was covered by the excessive silicon they had put on already and that occasionally introduced Air into the system and leaked unnoticeable amount of coolant. - improper Flush, the morning after they replaced and flushed, I had two color coolant fluid in the system; (OEM-purple and orange/red- after market) - bursting coolant fluid through the reservoir randomly due to the fact they never properly bleed the system out of Air and the clearance which was an ongoing event in the past two years. I have went back there at the time and confronted the older brother with their incompetence/ negligence but it would get me no where he'll justify everything claiming his younger brother have done it properly or leverage the fact that I can't do with out my car asking to leave it with them for couple days, and since I work at Lake Oswego, I have moved on with my life; lucky for them the engine survived. but when I replaced the pump yesterday it all came to me and I had to warn people about this place. If you like your car or you can't do with out stay away, if the circumstances put you on their doorstep, make sure that you verify their work with another mechanic and do what it takes to have do what you paid'em for properly

Another mechanic (not Hi-Tech) claimed our Honda CRV's rear differential was leaking. They quoted us $4,900 for a rear differential replacement. Since this was basically "why not just buy a new car" territory, we were aghast as we had owned it less than two years, and had initially paid $17,000 for the vehicle. We took it to Hi-Tech Auto for a second opinion. They discussed other possibilities such as repairing the leak which the first shop said would be impossible. They did diagnostics, putting ink in the fluid and having us drive it around for a few weeks. It turns out there was no evidence of a leak after all, they simply cleaned up the differential and there were no signs of the ink leaking. Hi-Tech Auto saved us from paying $4,900. Thank you!

I’ve always only taken my cars to Hi-Tech Auto Repair to have them serviced and I leave with knowing the best service was provided by David and his mechanics. It has been over 10 years. I continue to come here for maintenance because they are professional and diligent with their work. Even though I live out in Beaverton, I make the commute across the river to see them. I trust them to provide the best service and to give me peace of mind when I’m behind the wheel because car issues are the worst! I also trust their facility in the time of COVID. I witnessed David making sure his clients are well protected with masks being provided along with keeping things cleaned and sanitized. He is friendly and kind with his clients. He is the best!

David Le is my hero ... he is a maestro! I was staying at a nearby hotel and had the catalytic converter stolen from my Prius! David went the extra mile to get all the parts needed (from several sources) and fit the work into the shop’s obviously busy schedule. What an efficient operation they have! From my perspective, they clearly have many repeat/happy customers, and if I lived in their area, I’d be one also. One story that symbolizes my experience... just as things were wrapping up for the day, and everyone but David and 1 other mechanic had just left, a woman came in with a flat tire ... well they hustled and got her tire taken care of ... she was fortunate to have misfortune happen near HiTech Auto!

Brought my old Altima in that needed obvious repairs. After an inspection, I was informed that repairs could be done however there are more underlying issues with my vehicle. David advised me to save my money and start looking at a new vehicle and that putting money towards the Altima would just be a bandaid. He showed me a detailed quote of what was going on and thankfully I was able to find a replacement vehicle the same week. Overall, I'm just happy that I have a reliable source at Hi-Tech. I've gone to David now 2 times . Each time David has been honest and straightforward with me on the repairs needed and didn't rush me to decisions and took time to answer any questions I had about the condition of my vehicle in future after the repairs since it was a 2009. He alerted me to an issue down the road that may arise said not to worry now but down the road may need to be looked at and that is what I w ant honesty and I appreciate that.

By far the best service I've had not only on my vehicle but ANYWHERE in a long time. I was impressed with the young man at the shop for going above and beyond what I took my car in for - two rear window regulators. They also replaced all of my bulbs as a courtesy! My car has been seen by many mechanical engineers over the last few years and not one can compare to the service I received at HighTech, going back next week for a tune-up!

I was losing air in my tire. David filled it because I had an appointment I needed to get to. After my appointment it was low again. I took it back at almost 5 pm. Michael spotted a nail in it. They told me to just relax, and they would take care of it. Everybody stayed past five to make sure all was good. I am extremely GRATEFUL because I was headed out of town the next day. I had an EVAP code and was having trouble somewhere in my fuel evap line. They were responsive to my call and took my car quickly. They had to overnight a part and I had my car back the next day. I took my car to this shop twice, and David and his team did an excellent job on replacing the leaking radiator and the cracked flex plate. They also saved me from spending thousands of dollars on unnecessary repairs and the idea of trading in my car. It was a good thing that I went to them for a second opinion. Had a great experience! I brouggt my car in for 150k maintenance i hadnt done anything so they checked everything. They told me they would need my car for two days. I told them okay but i had a meeting that evening but id figure it out. They called later in the afternoon and said they had put my cat on priority so i would be able to get to my meeting! Great business modeling!

Friendly, great service and cared about the customer. Attempted jacking of my truck left me stranded 250 miles from home. Thanks to Dave, i not only got my truck ignition and door lock repaired week early, he even took out the dent caused by prying on the door lock. If you have to use a tow go with ranger towing and he'll get your wheels to Dave. Both highly recommended.

Brought my car in to get the center console that controls AC/heat/defrost working. They were fast and affordable. That being said, when I got my car home there was damage all around my center console from when they removed it. All the buttons stick on the center console now. There’s also damage to my driver side door handle it was never there before.
