We booked this hotel for two days (Dec. 15 and Dec. 16) ,expecting standard service. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing and negatively impacted our travel schedule and mood. 1. The front desk employee, Mercedes, was extremely disrespectful. She consistently ignored me and only responded to my boyfriend, despite him indicating we were together. It was a shocking and infuriating experience, one that left me feeling humiliated. I think no guest should be treated in that way. This prompted me to write this detailed review, something I rarely do. 2. The hotel's facilities are outdated. Upon arrival, it was evident that the decor and furniture were quite old. The realization of how outdated the amenities were became apparent when the toilet clogged and the toilet water was all over the floor, causing us to move to another room, as staying in a room with a floor flooded by toilet water was clearly a worse option. We had to repack our belongings, which was inconvenient and disrupted our plans (The reason we chose to stay in one place for two nights was to avoid such inconveniences as moving rooms, but unfortunately, we still had to face this issue). 3. After these unpleasant experiences, especially the poor treatment, we hoped to cancel our second night and receive a refund. However, when Expedia contacted the hotel, the request was denied by their manager. The manager's response and overall attitude made it clear why we were treated poorly earlier: it seems to be a team-wide issue. The manager stated they couldn't verify my claims of mistreatment. When I questioned how to prove the mistreatment I experienced, perhaps by videotaping, the manager threatened to have security remove me if I tried to record any such incidents. 4. The comforters in the rooms were very thin, resembling two sheets with very few filling clumped in the corners. I had to repeatedly request additional bedding. Either because no one shows to send comforter/blankets after half or even one hour, or because I received another thin, ineffective comforter. I have to experience these twice due to changing rooms. I am not sure if their team do not value all the guests or only the ones who are not appearing wealthy. I sincerely hope that other guests won't have to endure such experiences. No one should have to endure poor treatment or face the tough choice between 1) staying and dealing with disrespect, or 2) leaving and essentially giving your money to those who don't respect their customers. BTW, I wish I had read others' reviews of this hotel before we booked it.

Great location, wonderful staff, but so many issues with the property itself. It seems as though the ownership has decided to give up on maintenance. 1. The location - You can't beat it. Right on the famous Torrey Pines golf course. 2. The staff - Everyone is helpful and nice, but how many times do these poor folks have to state, "I am sorry. You are right. We will try to make that right" before the owners fix/maintain/update the property? The valets are amazing. A special note to Gary and Mr. Woods (didn't catch his first name). They are incredible and make you feel so welcome. 3. The rooms/facility - Here is the problem. It seems as though the property hasn't been properly maintained for many years. We organized a conference here with 75 attendees. The air condition in the ballroom didn't work. The attendees were miserable. In fact, the only bad ratings we received from the event were related to the hotel. Attendee feedback: The room air conditioners couldn't keep the rooms cool (my wife and I experienced the same) The rooms has peeling paint, wallpaper that was missing, and other evidence of delayed maintenance. Our guest speaker had bugs in her room—not a good situation when your invited/paid guest speaker has an insect infestation. The hotel was kind enough to upgrade us to a suite, but even that room needed maintenance to bring it up to the Hilton standard. According to what I read, it has been 10 years or so since the last renovation, and it the property doesn't seem to be aging well. Our initial thought was to host the same event there next year, but due to the overwhelming negative feedback from the attendees regarding the hotel, we won't be able to do that. One minor note, while the restaurant staff was very helpful and friendly and the food decent, the french fries were horrible! The food is good here, but they might want to reconsider their french fry vendor.

I don’t mind a 3 star hotel but when this is branded as a resort and charging resort prices I’m dissatisfied it is old, dated, basically a 2-3 star motel vibe. It was nice the maids were not so loud in the AM I could sleep in the last day but it may be because it was off season and the hotel wasn’t very full. Additionally staff were pretty rude. The concierge didn’t really want to talk up the resort or help me sort out my question. He pretty much barked at me at 9am when I asked a question. The coffee shop staff were more interested in chatting with their friend than waiting on customers. Normally I don’t care but they were pretty standoffish just like the concierge. The valet was rude. Maybe everyone is tired during off season but sheesh. I have one last complaint. I’m a Hilton Diamond business person. Hilton started offering free upgrades lately. When I checked in they told me they couldn’t honor my upgrade and the system must have been wrong but they could put me in a different room. They said they were sold out of the original room it put me in. I said sure, put me wherever. However I then saw the next 3 nights the exact room type they made me change from was NOT full and a good 20 of them were empty just across the way from my room. The hotel should have to honor Hilton’s franchise rules then. I can’t say for sure but I wonder if they would have downgraded a business man? I double checked and yes the room type was available online for paying customers so I just feel the resort did my dirty a bit.

I travel 10-15 times per year for work alone. I have NEVER written a bad review of a hotel until now. I was beyond disappointed in my stay at Hilton Torrey Pines. First note there is a $75 “early check in” fee. I’ve never in all of my travels even heard of this. This includes if they have empty rooms "cleaned" & readily available. But note, the fee will be arbitrarily waived or applied depending on who you check in with. This was all to be given a room that reeked of urine, had a shower head caked in mildew, and other people’s hair all over the bathroom. I complained immediately & was told my room couldn’t be changed. I complained again the next day & got the same, asked for my fee to be waived given the condition of the room and poor customer service- still nothing. Including from the manager who was the most dismissive of all. We had several catered meals there that were low grade hotel banquet food. The staff had no idea what was going on and had to pull out pages of instructions from their pockets to answer questions as basic as- is there a bar being set up? The plus is the external scenery is gorgeous, but would recommend looking for similar accommodations elsewhere.

I went to the Torrey Pines Hilton on a day pass. Started out kind of Rocky as the front desk didn't get my reservation from the third party, but they came to an agreeable resolution and let me begin my relaxing day. But, then I myself dropped my phone over the edge of the wall taking pictures of the beautiful environment around the hot tub... before I even got in to relax BUT. the staff was so extremely helpful and reassuring and wonderful and spent time and effort helping me! They were so amazing and made what could have been a horrible experience actually really lovely and wonderful. I felt the Hilton Hospitality to the max I appreciate the bar staff, especially, as they're who I had the most contact with

As most previous posts have said, the location is fabulous! The staff is great as well! We have stayed at this hotel before, about 15 years ago and sadly it shows that nothing has been updated. The rooms are showing their age. The sheets are some of the worst I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. The hair dryer was so old it was sticky to the touch because all the finish was gone off of it. The fact that president Obama stayed there when he was in office would never fly now. We really love the location and the people but attention to the hotel is needed.

We chose the Hilton for its preferred tee times at Torrey Pines, and that aspect did not disappoint; however, the hotel condition is 3-star at best. Given a major renovation it could be restored to a grand resort. Beds were comfy, shower in our room had been upgraded and water pressure was good, but the room was quite dated and furniture had seen better days. That said, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the view from our room overlooking the golf course out to the ocean was beautiful. If you don't plan to play Torrey Pines or have found a tee time using other channels, I would recommend staying in one of the nearby seaside neighborhoods north of San Diego, which provide more walkable access to activities, beaches and food options.

Lovely hotel. The valet and porter staff are phenomenal. Housekeeping must be requested at the beginning of your stay or the day before if you want housekeeping only on a certain day of your stay. We paid $20 extra for a costal view on the third floor and it was completely worth it. I spent the mornings on the balcony reading in the lovely temperate climate. We were also here for a wedding and everything was beautifully done and the food was good.

For a Hilton property this one is ready for some room refurbishment. Customer service at front desk could be better. Had issues from check in through check out. Rooms clean but never got serviced for our 5 days we were there. Manager did get involved and assisted in trying to make things right. Still would probably not stay at this Hilton again. Bellman were pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed our golf day at Torrey Pines.

I booked a room for 3 nights here at La Jolla Torrey Pines. The place was exactly what I was looking for. If you are looking for a place that is quiet and peaceful then this is the place for you. They have a beautiful pool, hot tub and fire

Maybe this hotel was given an 'extra credit' star for its location, but the hotel itself is a 2.5-3 star, at best. Rooms are worn and not well-maintained. After flying 7 hours and getting here at check-in, our room was not ready. By 5,
I stayed at the Hilton at Torrey Pines from October 11-14. While the location, view and golf course are amazing, the cleanliness was not. My bathroom had clearly not been cleaned prior to my arrival- there was hair on the floor and
A nice hotel with a fantastic view. The room I stayed in, was clearly a bit older as several parts of the hotel. The service was fine and attentive. The location is great. The price was a bit high for the status of the hotel. More
