Before the creation of HTCI, most Hindus would go to Hindu Temple of Dayton or temples in Chicago for worship services.First Hindu Temple inaugurated in the state of Indiana in 2006 with a mission to serve the spiritual needs of Central Indiana’s Hindu families and represent the diversity of Hindu faith and culture. Beautiful building, worth seeing from outside and inside. We entered the building it was admittedly quite crowded that day. We began to tour the site and various shrines. This is such a great addition to Indianapolis that it would be a shame to miss it.Go for the art, you'll be charmed by the priests who are anxious to explain various deities and festivals. This temple is attractive in many counts. A large and quiet campus with lawns and flower beds and facilities like parking lots, restrooms and a covered space for congregations including sit down ‘prasadam’ taking arrangement make the visitors comfortable. The idols are made of stones and the design of the temple is highly Indian. Maha kumbhabhishekam or consecration process was performed in 2015. It is built according to the Ancient Science of Indian Architecture called “Sthapatya Vidya”. The worship hall houses 17 Sannidhis (shrines)-Sri Ganesha, Sri Ayyappa, Sri Hanuman, Sri Murugan, Sri Jagannath, Sri Durga, Sri Shiva, Sri Mahaveer, Sri Saibaba, Sri Saraswati, Sri Venkateswara, Sri Andal, Sri Lakshmi, Sri Parvati, Sri Rama, Sri Krishna and Navagrahas spread over 4 different gopurams, with the main tower being over 99 feet tall(30 metres).Weekly pujas are conducted throught out the week.Special pujas are conducted on New year, Pongal,Tamil New Year and Deepavali etc... HTCI Kitchen provides diversified menu to its devotees with carefully planned menu for the calendar week.Masala Dosa and Tamarind Rice is hailed for its best taste. They cook only Satwik food which is purely vegetarian (without onions and garlic). They try to accommodate as many combinations as possible and they are happy to serve you. Guided tours of the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana are available by appointment during the hours that the Temple is open (please note that the Temple is closed on weekday afternoons). Please email your tour request to temple at least 2 weeks or earlier in advance of your visit so that they arrange a volunteer to show you around.Duration of the tour will be for 1 hour. Most tours are given on weekday evenings and weekends. Topics covered are some essentials about how the spaces and symbols of the temple help the spiritual journey. The tour is free of cost.
Well organized & maintained; temple for almost all Hindu God's, viz Ganapati, Saastha, Anjaneya, Subrahmanya, Puri Jagannath, Shubhadra, Balarama, Durga, Shiva, Srinivasa, Lakshmi, Sarasvati, Navagrahas, Rama Sita, Radha Krishna, Narasimha, Sridhara, Paravasudeva, Dakshinamurthy, Lingodhbhava, Brahma and Durga; besides Shirdi Sai Baba and Mahavira Jainism. Archana is done every 30 minutes. All Festivals, Pujas, Homas are performed. Prasad stall and silver item stalls are run. Separate space with erected stage is available for cultural events and for individual family events like seemantham, ayush homes. Large parking facility is also there. Outside the temple building vast land piece is there for erecting stalls during celebrations. Photos are nit allowed. The beauty of big Shiva Linga and Srinnivasa is beyond words. Deities are decorated with jewelleries and silk vastras and they offset the impact of absence of natural flowers and their garlands. Main Deities, Maa Durga, Shiva and Srinivasa face East, the main entrance. Flag mast (dwaja sthamba) is erected. Ulsava idols of all these Deities are there in a separate enclosure on north east side, where Homas are performed. Big Nataraj idol is there along the northern wall. Temple tower is beautifully designed. A very small pond outside on north east part is attractive. Timings: 9 am to 11.30 am & 6 pm to 8 pm on Week days; 9 am to 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Pandits from TN, Karnataka and North perform routines. Dedicated space available for storing foot wears, belongings is there on the southern side. Tap water provided for washing feet. Probably only Hindu Temple in Indianapolis. A must visit spot.

Visiting the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana was an experience beyond words—a true haven of serenity and spiritual enrichment. From the moment I stepped onto the beautifully landscaped grounds, I could feel the positive energy enveloping me. The temple's architectural grandeur left me in awe. The intricate detailing and vibrant colors of the sculptures and carvings narrated stories of ancient traditions and beliefs. The atmosphere was one of tranquility, allowing for a seamless transition into a state of introspection and mindfulness. The dedicated priests are not just knowledgeable, but also incredibly welcoming. They patiently answered my questions and guided me through the rituals, ensuring that I felt comfortable and understood the significance behind each practice. The divine resonance of the chants and rituals left a profound impact on my heart and mind. The temple premises also house a library and cultural center, offering a wealth of resources to learn more about Hinduism, its philosophy, and its contributions to the world. This commitment to education and cultural preservation is truly commendable. Whether you're seeking spiritual solace, a deeper understanding of Hindu culture, or simply a peaceful retreat, the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana caters to all. It's not just a place of worship; it's a sanctuary for the soul. I left the temple feeling rejuvenated, enlightened, and grateful for having experienced its grace. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana. It's a gem that shines brightly in the heart of Indiana, offering a profound connection to spirituality and culture. My visit was an unforgettable journey, and I can't wait to return for another dose of divinity.
This temple is well-organized and maintained, housing statues of various Hindu gods including Ganapati, Saastha, Anjaneya, Subrahmanya, Puri Jagannath, Shubhadra, Balarama, Durga, Shiva, Srinivasa, Lakshmi, Sarasvati, Navagrahas, Rama Sita, Radha Krishna, Narasimha, Sridhara, Paravasudeva, Dakshinamurthy, Lingodhbhava, Brahma, Durga, Shirdi Sai Baba, and Mahavira Jainism. Archana is performed every 30 minutes, and the temple hosts all festivals, pujas, and homas. There's a prasad stall and silver item stalls, as well as space for cultural and family events. The temple offers ample parking and open land for stalls during celebrations. Photos are not allowed inside. Notably, the large Shiva Linga and Srinivasa idols are impressive. Deities are adorned with jewelry and silk vastras, compensating for the absence of natural flowers. The main entrance faces East, and there's a beautifully designed temple tower. The temple also has a small pond. Timings vary but generally are from 9 am to 11:30 am and 6 pm to 8 pm on weekdays, and from 9 am to 8 pm on weekends. Additionally, there's a nice little cafeteria offering authentic vegetarian food. They also sell dosa/ idly batters.

The Hindu Temple of Central Indiana is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in experiencing the rich cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent. I visited the temple on the auspicious occasion of Shivratri and was blown away by the sheer number of people in attendance. It felt like I had been transported to India itself! The decorations and planning for the event were exceptional, with vibrant colors, beautiful flowers, and intricate designs adorning the temple. The attention to detail and effort put into the decorations made the whole atmosphere feel truly special. The highlight of my visit, however, was the prasad. The temple served an amazing variety of dishes, including Dal-Roti, curd Rice, Chole-Chawal and everything was great. The flavors were rich and authentic, and it was evident that the temple's cooks had put a lot of effort into preparing the food. I highly recommend a visit to the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana, regardless of whether you are a religious person or not. It's a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Indian culture, sample delicious food, and learn about the customs and traditions of one of the world's oldest religions. Do keep in mind that the temple is a bit away from the center of the city, but the experience is definitely worth the trip.
I had my wedding at HTCI, and it was a wonderful experience. I have nothing but great things to say about the temple and all those who made it the great day that it was. Even with our tight wedding timeline, they were so accommodating, and always willing to help us out. Ramesh ji was extremely helpful with any concerns/questions I had, and always willing to help, and I can’t thank him enough for always being patient and understanding. Badrinath Shasthri ji, the priest who officiated the wedding was amazingly helpful, and was available and willing to answer any questions I had, whenever I called him – and I called him a lot. Finally, the food was delicious, and the kitchen staff were extremely helpful and understanding. Even with a smaller order, there was more than enough to go around. Our guests had nothing but positive things to say about the food! We also appreciated the fact that HTCI staff offered to help with cleanup up at the end of the wedding ceremony, even though we were in charge of clean up. Overall, thanks to the extremely helpful and organized staff, my wife and I were able to have a joyful and relaxing wedding experience. We would like to thank HTCI for everything they were able to do for us.
HTCI temple, a beautiful temple in a beautiful location. Love this place it’s feel like spirituality is always in the air. A well managed, clean and peaceful temple in Indiana. Our first visit to this temple was absolutely wonderful.(car pujan) Tranquility at its best. Well maintained and a haven for Hindu enthusiasts. There are several activities that take place year long, celebrating all the festivities of the Hindu culture. It makes me feel connected and a sense of homeland is prevalent. Almost all Indian festival are celebrated with enthusiasm.Durga Puja, Holi, Mahashivratri…… I visited many times to the temple and also organize the private Puja. And very much satisfied with the service for puja and archana. The priest Badrinath Shastri ji… he is very helpful and polite. My all private Puja is conducted by him. And very much satisfied with his service, his mantra ucharan and the way he conduct the Puja is too good. The food is too good. (Which you have to buy) Restroom is available. Hall, auditorium, open areas are available for many events. One of the best places, divine, very well maintained and must visit place.

LISTEN TO THE MESSAGE I WRITE ... INto Hoagland did arrive ... A monkey carrying a great message of importance did arrive into the foreign tribe with the message. The monkey understood this tribe to be nearly blind and so used simple vibrations to get their attention. The foreign tribe recognized the vibrations and were stunned and frightened and instead of listening to the message ran off the foreign monkey. The monkey is a man coming into other men, who are so blind and yet so simple, they have even in their blindness on the spot, banned simple monkey language. Awake to truth ... INTO YOUR TEMPLE DID ARRIVE ... a monkey with message of great important. And so was ejected this monkey. Let truth be spoken. Satnam.
The Hindu temple is beautiful inside and out, the people inside were very welcoming and friendly, and the over all it's just a pleasant place to visit. You can visit anytime it's open to worship but if your not very familiar with the Hindu religion you can take a tours of the temple where a guide will explain different things to you to help with your understanding of their religious practices. I believe the tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays but you need to sign up for them on the provided website. I would highly suggest a visit if you would like to learn more about Hinduism and the culture around it!
Beautiful temple! They are exceptionally designed for guests here. You can check in at the desk & take a self-guided tour with tablets & headphones they provide which takes about an hour to do the inside portion. They charge a $5 fee which is extremely reasonable, especially given the time & information provided. There will be people worshipping while you take the tour, so be prepared to be quiet & respectful. Plus be prepared for large bells to be struck. There is a cafe inside which was beyond unexpected. We didn't get anything, but the food smelled wonderful & looked appetizing.
This is a very beautiful Temple. All of the statues are hand made, inside and outside of the temple. I have never seen so much beautiful pieces of work in my life. Every piece of each statutes inside, outside, on the walls, gods, roof, are hand made by individuals from India. I was told that it a group of individuals who traveled from India and lived in the basement of temple a few years to hand make each piece in the temple. Each piece was made to perfection. If you are ever invited to visit this temple, I can promise you will not be disappointed.
A beautiful temple in a beautiful location. Temples are not only a safe space to pray and pay your respects, but they are also works of art. Everyone is so friendly and kind. A note: You do not have to be Hindu to visit the temple. Please ask anyone that works at the temple what the proper protocols are (taking off your shoes, etc). The food was delicious and Covid protocols were in place (sanitizing, temps, masks, etc). Thank you to all the people that continue to devote their time at the temple and make it a beautiful place to visit.
Very beautiful temple. I got married there. They have easy setup for marriage. Everythg can be done online. Just be careful about food u order, too spicy/chilly! I forgot to mention about spices before ordering so default might have been very spicy. Location wise the area of temple itself feels safe and is segregated location, but it did not feel safe around 2-3mile radius when we tried to dine in nearby.

I attended Shivratri festival everything went fine but there is one thing I would like say that I was not happy with the coconut ladoos as the amount of sweet that was added to those ladoos was way too much. I am big fan of coconut ladoos but this time I was totally disappointed. I would request the committee to take the responsiblity for tasting the items in form of samples before it goes to the stall. People who have bought these coconut ladoos on Shivratri will definately get what I am trying to convey. Thank you.
Fine temple , Fine People , Fine Priests , Fine Service and Fine Food. I enjoy coming here. Keep up the good work with community spirit and unity ! Please be strict with visitors to place footwear in shoe rack and not wearing shorts and torn jeans to temple. Parents should respect temple dress code if they want their children to respect their culture. Even if Saree, salwar and dhoti are not possible , they should at least be fully covered. People respect office dress code . Why not their place of worship dress code?
Excellent place of devotion. It feels like you are in a temple in India once you're there. The breadth of space, facilities - everything is top-notch. After visiting many temples in NY-NJ area, this is definitely a leap above the rest. The temple staff are also very helpful to guide you through the process if you're unfamiliar with the check-in process due to COVID situation. The prasadam is also very authentic that makes you feel like you're in India. A highly recommended one, for sure!
Very peaceful religious place. The temple is well maintained and priests on duty was very nice and knowledgle able about the Hindu religious ceremonies. He took time to explain about Shiva abhishek. I am impressed. I am from Canada and hope to visit this place when ever I am visiting Indianapolis. I thank the temple committee for maintaining this place. A temple to be visited for peace of mind. Ashirwad and best wishes to all committee members, priests and volunteers.
One of the finest Hindu temples I have been to. Durga, Siva and Srinivas are major deities here. Other deities who have representation are - Vinayaka, Ayyappa, Anjaneya, Karthikeya, Jaganatha, Mahaveera, Adhinatha, Sai, Saraswati, Andal, Maha Lakshmi, Parvati, Sita Rama, Radha Krishna and the Nava grahas. The MahaVishnu at the entrance is amazing. Temple has a kitchen and serves well made tiffins or meals most of the times. Ample parking is available.
The only Mahadev - Shiv temple in Midwest! Incredible piece of art! No doubt it took many years to complete - the fine intricate details in the statues of Durga, Mahadev & Balaji are truly amazing! Must visit. Also the entire Management team of HTCI are quality & first class people! Always feels pleasant & calm after visiting the temple for few minutes! #GoodVibes #powerfulAura
Just took a fantastic tour of the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana. Plenty of parking available. The architectural details are amazing. I learned that the carvings were done by craftsmen from India. Definitely worth a stop no matter your religious background!

Best place to be at for peace. The whole temple has such positive aura. Everyone in the temple and committed are so involved in the maintenance and activities. Very well maintained place. Irrespective of region , all Hindu festivals and events are celebrated here. I do not find dominance of a single region or culture here with India being such diverse country after all.
Was stunned with inside architecture of the temple. Each avatar of God was fantastically sculptured and portrayed, that add beauty to the temple. Go inside the temple and spend some time in taking a closer look at idols and sculptures. You will feel like you visited a temple in India. Definitely a must visit Hindu temple.
This is specially for the temple cafeteria.. we were there on Dec 25th the weather was not at its best. So we decided to get some food and sweets.. everything we bought was really good.. the tomato bath, bonds with chutney, coconut burning and rava ladoo.. we even bought more to go.. had to come here to write a review.
It's a big and beautiful temple. People of all faiths are welcome to visit. They organize special events on Hindu holy days. I've seen Americans taking a guided tour. The canteen / kitchen is also very good. I think the management is doing a great job of maintaining the facility and also the community outreach.
One temple for all Indians in central Indiana. Beautiful architecture. Sunday mornings, place is not clean, which is annoying when you are required to be barefeet. Cleaning crew is there but not seen cleaning. Maybe they are required to clean AFTER Sun services and BEFORE Sat services only i.e. once a day only.
Good place to feel home. Spirituality is always in the air. Almost all Indian festival are celebrated with enthusiasm. Food taste good . Bottled water for$1 ,I personally feel not so great. Also recommend setting up water bidet in all restrooms Above could be a great initiative to go environmental friendly.
After the expansion of the original building, now the real, authentic India vibe can be felt here. Much of the intricate art and sculpture were done by "shilpis" of India. A great place to join in worship, sit for meditation, engage in cultural activities, or host an event in their first class facilities.
Temple has been rebuilt and has become truly a blissful place to visit. Feels really good to be a part of Indian religious culture through this temple. They have variety of idols to welcome people of various faiths. We were also impressed with the Covid protocols and cleanliness for such a holy place.
Its a very nice temple. We had the Shradha karyakrama. Everything is very well organised. The priests are very accomodating. There is a temple kitchen with yummy food. Must visit if you stay around that area.

I've been to a few temples in other states too but I really like the way this Temple has enough room for at the least 500 people inside the main temple. I like the way idols are placed inside the temple as opposed to horizontally placed idols in some temples in the Bay area and other regions.
Purely Divine place to discover and enhance your spirituality. Place exudes lots of positive vibes. The Priests are highly knowledgeable and disciplined in performing the prayers and rituals according to ancient original sources to invoke divine blessings. I am highly amazed every time !
The temple is big, very quite and peaceful. You can worship many Hindu gods. Also worship Jain Thirthankaras. We can get lunch on Saturday and Sundays. It was little unclean outside temple. There were so many lemons in the parking area and little food too. All must try to keep it clean.
I love the HTCI temple. You can find people of all faith and beliefs worshipping under one roof.lots of activities happening in the temple. You can go to the temple website to get details of daily activities and temple timings for each day. Very clean and beautiful temple. …
Very divine and peaceful place where you can offer prayers to multiple Hindu Gods. They perform special puja and organize events during all the Hindu festivals. A big thank you to the priests, volunteers and management for doing such a fine job. Please do visit if you haven't.
I have been here for Diwali and Maha Shivratri in-spite of being crowded both the event were very well organized. Food was available on purchase like $5 for a small meal .staff was friendly and nice even the temple has been maintained nicely also the restrooms and shoe area.
Jay shree Krishna. It was my first visit today as we were just passing by from highway. Honestly I am in love with temple in terms of everything like peace, cleanliness, maintenance and many more. I recommend to visit it anytime you passing by or traveling to Indianapolis.
This is a beautiful temple. It is spacious both inside and outside. There is a large Shivlinga as the main deity, with many altars for other Gods and Goddesses. I was there for a major event. The organizers and volunteers were amazing. I hope to return to this temple soon.
Very beautiful, clean and well managed temple. People of all religions, gender and race are welcome. It's usually a quiet place but gets very crowded on certain festive days. Even one time visitors would appreciate the architecture and get some insight into Hindu culture.
This is one of the best temples I ever visited in Indiana. It feels so peaceful and the idols are so beautiful. Definitely would love visiting again.

One of the beautiful temples I have seen in U.S. Really nice location with lots of greenery out the temple. The way they portrayed the gods was a jaw dropping experience. Huge space inside for bajans, little functions, and play area outside. It was nicely built!
Great place liked it verymuch. Pooja's are performed regularly. Vinayagar , Iyappan, Hanuman, Jagnath, Durga Devi, Shiva, Perumal, Saibaba, Saraswathi, Lakshmi , Aandaal, RamSita Lakshmanan, RadhaKrishna Idols of all gods are there very pleasing & divine place.
Serene, peaceful and spacious. Check the website before planning, as they have plenty of events that you can go to. You can also have Prasad (food - when I went they were serving curd rice, pulav, etc) at nominal price. You can offer puja too. Overall 5 star.
Always enjoyed the serenity of a temple. The Indianapolis temple certainly reminds me of the tranquility which exists in the Hindu temples in Goa. After prayers, the food served is always fresh and tasty. Certainly a big asset for the Hindu community in USA.
Tranquility at its best. Well maintained and a haven for Hindu enthusiasts. There are several activities that take place year long, celebrating all the festivities of the Hindu culture. It makes me feel connected and a sense of homeland is prevalent.
Great temple, Must to visit. I have seen this temple from the time it was in construction until today. A lot of development, pujaris are very friendly and lot of activities. I knew few friends who come from Ohio and Kentucky to see Indy temple.
Biggest Hindu temple that I saw in USA. It’s very tall. One of the tallest Siva Lingam you will ever see elsewhere. It’s an amazing experience to visit this temple. A must visit temple. This temple has all Gods and Goddesses.
The most head strong temple management I have ever seen . These guys are not running the temple instead they are trying to dictate as if they own the temple . Doesn’t recommend booking poojas here . You will be disappointed
Beautiful temple with stunning architecture, amazing carving, marvelous idols and great management. This serene place is filled with beauty and serenity ️️ P.S. you are not allowed to take pictures inside. …
The temple is beautifully built, on a spacious plot. They have a kitchen on the same floor with token systems for food. The options gor food on the weekend of my visit was limited to sambar rice, yogurt rice and ladoo.
This is a very peaceful and well done place. There are many temples on the inside and the best part is that it’s very peaceful to sit and meditate in the middle grand hall. It is a treat to go over with the family.
A must to see place for it architecture beauty and peaceful environment. May god bless all.

Really lucky to have a very good temple near our house. Very peaceful place and all Gods including mahaveer and Sai baba are there.
Recently visited a Hindu temple that was impressive in its size and grandeur. The temple was located in a peaceful and serene area.
Very well managed. Easy entry, pleasant darshan & easy exit. We had a good time today. We will visit again.. …
I love this place... nice place and environment is too good.. priests are very good. They celebrate all the hindu festivals..
Great temple. Very clean and there is ample parking. There events are very well organized. The Diwali prayer was amazing.
Very nice and feels more peaceful

I come to this temple from Louisville especially for Lord Shiva. That divine attracts you towards him. Jai Bholenath
This is the temple closest for us to visit. Typically not crowded. You can see all deities without having to hurry.
