During my recent visit to the Holiday Inn Ottawa East, I had the pleasure of experiencing their excellent facilities and clean rooms. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that the hotel takes great pride in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout. The rooms were beautifully appointed, offering a modern and inviting atmosphere. The tasteful decor and well-thought-out design made for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. One aspect that stood out to me was the attention to detail in keeping everything spotless. The housekeeping staff clearly took their job seriously, as every corner of the room was impeccably clean. One convenience that I appreciated was the abundance of parking available at the hotel. It was reassuring to know that finding a parking spot would not be a hassle during my stay. This made it much more convenient to explore the Ottawa area and visit nearby attractions without worrying about my vehicle. The staff at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East were generally friendly and welcoming. However, it was evident that they were quite occupied with accommodating numerous school groups during my stay. While this may have impacted their availability at times, they still managed to provide helpful service whenever needed. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff remained professional and did their best to ensure a pleasant experience for all guests. Inside the room, I was pleased to find several amenities that enhanced my stay. Having a microwave and coffee maker in the room was a thoughtful addition, allowing me to prepare quick meals and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee at my convenience. The TV provided a good selection of channels, and its modern design added to the overall aesthetic appeal of the room. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, providing a restful night's sleep after a long day of exploring the city. I appreciated the option of selecting pillows with different levels of firmness, allowing me to tailor my sleep experience to my personal preference. The sheets were soft and inviting, contributing to a cozy and relaxing atmosphere in the room. Furthermore, the hotel provided essential toiletries such as soap, shampoo, and lotion. These thoughtful additions ensured that guests had everything they needed to freshen up and feel comfortable during their stay. In conclusion, my stay at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East was a positive experience. The hotel's commitment to cleanliness was evident throughout the facilities and rooms, providing a welcoming and hygienic environment. Despite the busy nature of serving school groups, the staff remained friendly and attentive. The presence of microwaves and coffee makers in the rooms, along with the comfortable bed and choice of pillows, added to the overall comfort of the stay. With the inclusion of essential toiletries, the hotel ensured that guests had all the necessary amenities readily available. I would recommend the Holiday Inn Ottawa East to anyone seeking a clean and comfortable accommodation option in Ottawa.

Great value
Dont stay here. Probably the most frustrating experience I’ve had all-around with a hotel stay. The rooms themselves are fine but a lot of the staff and especially management just don’t care about servicing guests. I was staying with a group of young girls and their families and we had reserved 15 rooms in early December. A couple of weeks before our stay we inquired to sales via email and telephone about renting a conference room one night of our stay to have a meal and put a movie on for the girls. No response to either our call or email. When we arrived at the hotel three families (including mine) were checked into dirty hotel rooms. Beds were unmade, garbages full, dirty towels in the bathrooms. We were rushing off to an NHL game and they assured us the rooms would be clean when we returned. On our return we went back to the same room which was still dirty. We were then finally checked into a clean room on our third try. This stay was in early to mid December and with a group of young girls we chose the hotel partly because it has a pool. The pool area and water were so cold it was almost impossible to use. We were first told the heater was broken and then told they hadn’t turned it on yet because “it isn’t winter yet” even though it was below freezing and snow covered outside. Consider the pool out of service in spring and fall (even December). The front desk promised to work something out and follow up with us for the dirty rooms, they also promised a follow up from sales on the conference room we wanted to rent. Neither call ever came and then no one from sales is in on the weekend so no room could be rented. We always had to follow up because none of the promised calls ever came. After following up at the front desk they did promise the three families that got checked into dirty rooms a $100 credit. But of course on check out it was not reflected on the bill and no notes were left as promised. We followed up with a call to the front desk that was never returned. We were eventually able to contact the GM who did get back to us quickly and resolve the situation with the credits. The fact that it had to go that far seems ridiculous. Overall, a complete lack of any guest service and seemingly impossible to get any sort of follow up on any issues prior to or during our stay.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East a few weeks ago and had an unfortunate experience that fell far from satisfactory. Upon entering the room, a strong musty smell was immediately noticeable, creating an uncomfortable ambiance. Additionally, a noticeable stain on the carpet and a hairball left by previous guests raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance standards. The air conditioner was unreliable, working sporadically and making it challenging to maintain a comfortable temperature. The recurring issue of the toilet chain getting stuck required frequent fixes, and the low water pressure in the toilet added to the frustration. The TV service offered only basic channels, limiting entertainment options. Obtaining a new key card for the pool daily was time-consuming, with frequent card malfunctions displaying a lack of proactive problem-solving. The pool's high chlorine levels caused severe eye redness and facial rashes for my husband, raising safety concerns. The mini fridge In fact, it was more aptly described as a micro-fridge rather than a mini-fridge. This was incredibly small, misleading in size and inadequate for storing items.Perhaps the most concerning issue was the mishap with the payment process. As I had booked through a third-party platform, the hotel mistakenly charged me for the stay again on my credit card instead of simply authorizing a hold for the deposit. This error required me to clarify the situation with the staff and have it rectified. The manager, she unfortunately, displayed a noticeable lack of approachability, with a consistently agitated demeanor and a significant amount of attitude. Although I understand that the hotel may have been busy, a more professional and understanding attitude would have been appreciated. Overall, the issues with cleanliness, unreliable amenities, pool safety, undersized fridge, and poor management attitude make me unable to recommend the Holiday Inn Ottawa East.

The room was two queen beds and the space is very small and tight compared to others I have seen. The bathroom only has one switch for light and no switch for air / steam ventilation. The bath tub drainage was not working, called receptionist and technician was sent down but still the water doesn't drain well but collected while having shower. The whole structures is old and broken down, needs urgent Renovation! The bathroom Sink water is very hot, hotter than boiling water, which is not safe for human to touch especially children can get burned if not supervised. In all, location is the only thing that is great but I think they took advantage of International students family staying their while school is opening for the school year. Most customers there are International students families from Africa countries. Also, intercontinental Breakfast was not offered at this Hotel, which is the first I have witnessed in my many trips to top / quality hotels.

Two queen-sized beds room is very small compared to the same features at other same franchise Hotels in other locations.
Safety
Bathroom Sink water is hotter than boiling water temperature. Therefore not safe for customers and this is health safety issue as well. Their cleaned and folded white towels have human hair all over them including inside the clean bathtub. May belong to the house cleaner staff, I'm guessing.
Food & drinks
There is no food offered at all. I have never experienced this before! No intercontinent breakfast and toiletries are very limited and when asked for more towels & toilet rolls, no staff come to deliver as promised.
Noteworthy details
Noticed that the Hotel is close to Carlton University, therefore students families have no choice but to be grateful that they have room allocation when booking. The hotel took advantage of this and therefore, very low quality offered in everything and services.

Quiet
Stayed here this past weekend for a hockey tournament with our team. The staff were wonderful with all parties. From the front desk to the housekeepers, everyone greeted us with a smile and were quick to help if it was needed. Our room was missing the TV remote, however this was a non-issue as we never used it and was brought to the staff's attention at check out. Our room was clean. Pillows are amazing. The bed was average for a hotel stay. The room was a good size, with plenty of space for our luggage. We ended up getting a second room to use as a gathering room for the parents at the end of the hallway where most of our rooms were located in order to minimize any potential disruption to other guests. While this suite was large and spacious, there was a serious issue regarding lack of adequate ventilation and air conditioning. It quickly became stuffy and hot in the room by the sheer number of bodies. The bathroom was clean, but there is no fan in there. The tub takes forever to drain water. The shower head dislodges from the fixture on the wall when you try to reposition it. None of these necessarily ruined our stay, but were minor inconveniences. One of our teammate's rooms did experience an issue where they did not have hot water for one night, but this was corrected by the morning, and they were compensated with a suitable discount. The fitness centre was small but consisted of 2 treadmills, an elliptical, a bike and a weight rack as well as a bench. The ventilation here was atrocious as well, but as it was located in the basement this may play a part. The equipment all seemed clean and in good condition. The elliptical worked well. A few of the children used the pool, although we did not so I cannot comment on that. As far as I was aware, there weren't any issues. Plenty of parking available in the back with easy access to get inside. Overall, we would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Staying for a week, a business trip. My room was upgraded to a king bed, on the top floors and far from elevator’s exactly I requested. The building is old but was recently renovated, new paint, carpet , furnitures including the appliances (TV, microwave, mini fridge, hairdryer), plenty of USB charging outlets, keyless door locks, nice breakfast / dining restaurant area. Staff were friendly and helpful. A lot of free parking space. Served variety choices for breakfast (if not included in your room price it’d cost you $20). What’s old? The popcorn ceiling and some light fixtures (needs a new bulb), and elevator buttons not all worked properly (need some services). The rooms and the entire hotel were very clean, the room has a deposit box, iron and board). Cleaning service did a great job, and if you choose a green program ie not asking your room cleaned every day, you’ll get 500 reward points - but of course you could ask anything eg towel, coffee pods etc if needed and they’ll bring them to your room and clean it as well. The location is closed to a mall, groceries, and good restaurants, all within the walking distance. The hotel itself is closed to highway 417, very easy access from and to anywhere.

As soon as we came in, they had some maintenance emergency happening at the front desk. Front desk staff do not greet you or try to expedite your stay. Not a big deal. Worst came at check out, at the end of my stay (early check out due to work), the front desk assured me they had already checked me out and that everything was ok. Gullible me, went out and did not check. Later after work I find out that I was not checked out and I don’t have my receipt on my email or app. I call to sort this out, since I need the receipt to expense my stay. Not only Kelly (front desk supervisor) was extremely rude to me, she confused me with some other customer and insisted that I made my reservation through Expedia. Long story short, worst customer service ever and I still don’t have my receipt. I don’t understand how they can be so disorganized and clueless, since there were 3 people at the front desk + the “supervisor”. Everything else was ok, a hotel is a hotel, but the bad customer service by phone and on site is shocking. If you stay here double check that the front desk do their job correctly, because Kelly won’t and is no help at all.

Stayed here on business for a couple days. Overall, I can't complain about the cleanliness and overall appearance of the hotel itself. However, both evenings when I came back around 3 to 4 pm, I had no hot water! I didn't call down to complain because it's not like it would be a hot water heater for my room specifically. The hotel is slightly dated and rooms need to be updated. A huge pet peeve is that the fridge doesn't have a freezer! This in my opinion, needs too be standard! Especially for business travel as now I can't freeze my ice pack! Being a regular holiday Inn, I expected a slightly better experience than an express but found this to be sub par to the Holiday Inn Express that our company normally puts us in

Rooms are clean overall, as well as the hotel itself. However, building is old and slightly in need of repair.
Nice location, right across the street from the St Laurent mall. There was no continental breakfast but there was a restaurant on site. The rooms are big with a comfortable bed/pillows. The bathroom is nice with plenty of towels. You are supplied with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The only negative was the water in the shower. It took a long time to get hot. I chalked it up to being in the 7th floor. The bathtub finish was leaking and looked like it had some repair already but it didn’t seem to work. Otherwise, Our room had a nice sitting area with a table, chair and a couch that pulled out to a sofa bed. The front desk staff were very pleasant. There was plenty of free parking. The lobby is very nice with lots of seating. I highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms are average as expected when you look at the decrepit exterior of the building. But, I am absolutely livid with the lack of communication from the front desk staff. Initially, I was told the room came with the breakfast buffet included. But, later on a different individual backtracked and told me it wasn't included. And this was after the fact. I think they need to be fully transparent up front, communicate effectively and not flip flop like that. The breakfast buffet is not that spectacular either btw. They swindled me out of a lot of money. I am infuriated and will not return to this place in the future. It's ostensibly apparent the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing on staff.

My friend and I each had our own rooms at the hotel. Even though we expected things to be nice, they didn't turn out that way. Even though the rooms looked clean at first, we found cockroaches in both rooms, which was really surprising and not good. Also, I woke up one morning with bites on my arm and hand, which made me feel pretty bad. The people who worked at the hotel tried to make things better by giving us a free breakfast, but it was hard to forget about the problems we had. The bugs and the bites made our time at the hotel not very good. It's too bad that the stay wasn't as nice as we hoped it would be.

I travel a lot for work and this was my first time in Ottawa so I decided to use a brand that I am familiar with. The Holiday Inn Ottawa East have done an amazing job with the accomodations and I have nothing but excellent things to say about the staff there. From Kedar making jokes with me at 4am in the morning when I am heading to the gym to Calvin going above and beyond to ensure that my stay there is top tier I want to say thank you. Your management team is blessed to have you there. I hope my status as an IHG Diamond member can take this somewhere.

The hotel staff were incompetent to say the least. Some were polite although made mistakes on booking and check out. Others were aloof, at best. No hospitality by any means. The shower was clogged and barley drained. The toilet was stained. There was a white powder dust in the handle of the mini fridge. The inside of the fridge was sticky. The microwave had food dirt in it. There was smokers right out the door constantly. I definitely do not recommend to stay here. It is not worth the money at all.

The rooms where great, the beds and the hotel itself was great but some people in our hockey tournament group had issues with their rooms not being cleaned at check in and still not cleaned a second time at checkin later in the night after the hockey game. Management decided not to turn on the pool heater so the pool was unusable for how cold it was. Management wasn't rectifying any issues as they were being reported

The worst hotel stay by FAR. Water leaked from the ceiling and the walls, soaked through the carpet and was disgusting. I requested a room change which took 40mins. The guest laundry was filled with mould, the shower/bath tub was full of pubic hair and the service at the front desk was awful. To top it off the restaurant food was overpriced and really average, barely edible. Have a great night and AVOID staying here.
Holiday Inn Ottawa East is an excellent hotel. Very clean. Great hospitality. Highly professional staff. Excellent breaking. Perfect location and very good value for money. If in Ottawa, always stay here. A large mall is at the doorstep of the hotel which has a brilliant shopping experience. Highly recommended hotel.
