So frustrated. My brother had an appointment March 24th at 4pm with the neurologist. The security guard was nice and helpful. We checked in on the 5th floor a little before 4. I told the receptionist we had the CD of his MRI, she asks me if we have the printed report because there is no equipment for the doctor to view the CD. Around 5:15 I asked the receptionist how many people are ahead of my brother, she tells me he's next to be called to go into an exam room. I told the receptionist his appt time was 4 and why was he given that time. So then I asked about the wait time once he gets in the exam room, the receptionist says there were 4 people ahead of him waiting to be seen. I asked how many neurologist are there seeing patients, she replied one. One doctor for a room full of patients, so frustrating. My brother is going thru a severe health challenge and he is using a wheelchair and he is not able sit for long periods and is very weak. At the rate they were going it was going to be well after 6 and maybe even 7 before he was seen by the doctor. So I asked the receptionist about scheduling another appointment where my brother could be the first or second patient the doctor sees, she informs me she does not do scheduling. First she tells me he has to contact who set up the appt and she gives me a card with a number to contact. I asked if the neurologist is available on days other than Wednesdays because I'm trying to figure out another day/appt for my brother that I could take him around my work schedule. One neurologist, one day a week, arrive on time wait hours to he seen and given the number of patients waiting to be seen I'm wondering about the quality of care. I really have to wonder if this hospital was in another community ×ould this even be allowed. Appointment time 4 pm, still not even called into the exam room by 5:15, 4 people still to be seen ahead of the 4 pm appt, I'm very disappointed, my brother still needs to be seen, but he can't be waiting in the reception area for hours. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP
Wish I could put 0 stars! Worst hospital experience in my 30 years on this earth! Do NOT GO HERE! The staff is a complete joke. They don't care about you or your well-being. They are cold hearted, judge you, and don't help what so ever. The security is the same way. Mean, cold hearted, and just there to collect a pay check. I was rushed in by ambulance, still had to wait forever in a waiting room, staff was all rude and no help. I was vomiting everywhere, nobody would give me a bucket or bag or anything. One of the staff came by and said I'd stop vomiting on the floor because maintenance and doctors don't like that, as if I had a choice. The actual rooms don't even have a nurse call button, no TV, can't move the beds up or down, it's freezing in there, all the equipment is old and broken, even the chairs and beds. At one point I was in a bed choking on my own vomit because I couldn't roll over with the IV and nobody would help me, I was screaming for someone to help me and everyone just looked and kept walking by. By the time I was discharged I was waiting for my ride in the waiting room and I had a blanket because it was freezing and I wasn't feeling well and had to fight with security over a blanket the nurse said I could use while I waited for my ride, then got kicked out and made wait outside in the rain, like I wasn't already there sick. If you wanna die, go here. If you want to feel like an animal and receive no compassion go here. I've been all over the country and been to hospitals all over and this is by far the WORST. I honestly don't even know how this place is still running. It's existence just makes Chicago a worse and more dangerous place to live altogether. Someone needs to close this place down. Take my advice and take the extra few mins to go to a hospital in the suburbs where the staff actually treats you like a human and at least acts like they care if you live or die and has equipment that actually works.
My partner and I arrived for a minor medical issue regarding gastrointestinal issues. We arrived estimated between 10:30-11 and are currently still here at 3:11PM. We have watched many patients come and go. Some even come twice. The staff is just sadly lacking. There’s no warmth from anyone on the front end, triage and registration is a joke of a mess. My largest issue was the lack of cleanliness around the inside and outside of this facility. There were SO many medical devices, pieces, etc. on the ground outside it was disgusting. Wet bandages and EKG leads. The lobby hasn’t been cleaned in months and half of the seating is broken in the waiting area. A young woman came in suffering from drug related issues. She vomited on the floor over 4 times. It was cleaned up once of the 4. She was forcing herself to vomit all over the lobby in hopes they’d take her back sooner. It resulted in us all suffering. The lobby cannot seat more than 16 people at a time, of those 16 seats 4 are broken. Leaving only 12 seats. There’s garbage under all of the seats, the floors are brownish instead of white speckled tile, this is disgusting. The fact is as a nursing student I understand some of the Chicago area hospitals are just glorified urgent care centers, but this place isn’t even urgent care. It’s below what is even average. I believe the funding for this hospital should be snatched and maybe the place needs to be rebuilt. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN HELP IT. ITS NOT A PLACE FOR PATIENT CARE! At the time of me finishing writing this it’s 3:20PM and we still haven’t been called back. Arrived at 10:30-11
I agree with other reviews, this is a horrible hospital with substandard care. I hope hospital administration reads all of these reviews and recognizes the magnitude of patient/family dissatisfaction. Is this America or some third world developing country. If you’ve had a bad experience-contact your Alderman, local representative , news stations any source to bring attention to such an unsafe institution. This place needs to be formally Reviewed. I am a doctor and my mom has gotten admitted ,unfortunately to this hospital twice. Getting a good nurse who knows and cares about your love one is a hit or miss-To you I say thank you Sincerely. However, to the massive others-which includes higher level providers and some allied heath professionals -I too agree -they were rude, exhibited poor medical competency and professional behavior, calls not returned sufficiently. I’ve had to monitor my mom daily asking about her tests just to ensure her care was adequate -making sure there is no neglect or worse malpractice. I even watched a doc come in, recognize I Too was a physician-he met me b4–not examine my mom talk only to the nurses and walk out-But I’m sure billed Medicare as if he examined her. This is more than unethical -it’s Malpractice at one of the highest levels. I’ve had to recommend what was standard medical care as if I was the treating physician. My mom will never come here again. I’m writing this review because I Care about your experience. Please make sure your Voices are heard-protect your love ones-Change happens one person at a time but a Movement brings a Wave of Change.
Worst hospital I have ever been to. I brought my brother here not needing emergency help but needing to go through the emergency department as part of the process. The service and process in the ER are terrible. If you’re dying, save yourself the agony and die in peace at home because you won’t be helped here. There was a woman who was in terrible shape, s arrived at 10:30 am, it was 2:30pm when she was taken back and 6:00pm when she was discharged but somehow made her way back to the ER. She waved for help and said she couldn’t take it anymore and felt like she was going to die. She had been discharged and fainted in the ER. Her discharge papers said she had pneumonia and COVID. I called nurse who stated she was fine because she had been seen. Complete disregard for human life. Another man told him he couldn’t just throw human life away like that. People in the ER were upset and defending the sick woman who clearly hadn’t received the proper care she spent all day in the hospital for. Another patient’s discharge papers had all her information wrong, wrong birthdate and misspelled name. Front desk then proceeded to yell at the patient. Police wasn’t very helpful in controlling the situation. There was a gause with blood on the floor and after 6 hrs it still wasn’t picked up. Floors and seating area are filthy. Staff and their willingness to help are atrocious! I feel for resident of Chicago who have no where else to go. Like scenes from a 3rd world country. LIGHTFOOT SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!
The mental health outpatient care here is atrocious. They're the only place I can find that takes my insurance :( My psychiatrist is frequently 30+ minutes late to telehealth appointments with no communication, and the office answers the phone only 10% of the time and will ignore voicemails. My last straw is that they completely ghosted my appointment today, which I scheduled three months ago. According to them, they cancelled it, scheduled someone else for the same time slot, and claim that they called once to let me know, NO voicemail, email, nothing. My previous psych left this branch, and they also did not tell me. I called the office for weeks to figure out what was going on and eventually scheduled with my current psych after complaining, with promises that communication would get better. It hasn't. I'm going through my GP instead, it just isn't worth it. EDIT: I did call the suggested number to complain, during business hours a couple days ago. I left a voicemail because nobody picked up, and haven't gotten a call back. When I spoke to the clinic office I was told that they'd write a note for the supervisor and that they would call me back, but nothing yet. I don't like making a fuss but I feel bad for anyone else who is stuck with this clinic. Seems like they don't care and don't hold anyone accountable.
I was brought in via ambulance due to a fall my foot was in most horrid pain and was swelling by the minute upon entering the ER I was immediately ask to get off stretcher and get into wheelchair (minimal assistance) I sat outside triage room for about thirty minutes constantly asking for pain meds I was told I would get some once I went to the back, thirty minutes later I am taken to the back with minimal assistance to get from wheelchair to bed, (Stephanie) nurse assigned to me didn’t explain anything she left the room and never returned until she came in to give me discharge papers (WTH) only person whom came by was the X-ray technician whom seemed pretty lost as well!!!! I was never seen by a physician/dr never explained results of X-ray (probably weren’t even done) was given one “Norco” pill for pain and when I was given that Stephanie ran in placed med on side table and ran out not even explaining med (Thank heavens I’m in medical field) I was sent home! I am still in a lot of pain my foot is still very swollen and in pain will be seeking other medical assistance Holy Cross pray my foot isn’t broken because if it Is you already know the rules of patients being mistreated at any facility and then not given the opportunity to see a Dr is even worse!!!! S.D.
As I sit here waiting on transportation to take me home I wanted to write my experience while in holy cross came 4-6-18 discharge 4-11-18. This was the worse hospital I have ever been in I thought cook county hospital was bad but compare to this hospital county is not that bad not all the nurses were bad but the two nurses on 7-7 evening shift was bad. A Chinese, and afro american nurse was so rude the black nurse taking my blood just kept sticking me then went to the Chinese lady came in my room talking to me just being rude. Then that next night she came trying to discharge me in the night. God will expose you two one day. I wonder how many people they have mistreated? Yes this shift at night are loud they get outside your door laughing and creaking jokes.they were not professional at all. The food came cold, if you can go somewhere else bypass this place. Long as I live don't ever bring me back here. Oh the nurse who was thanking my blood she said she did not get then she went to use the same needle to get more blood I asked her was she going to get a new needle she said you but she did not get a clean needle. But the third time she got a clean needle. She got mad because she was hurting me so some on that second shift need to get a class on bedside manner.
I cannot say enough of the staff at Holy Cross. My mother has been in and out of this hospital for the past 2+ years. Her Primary Care Physician, Dr. A. Allen, is above board as well as her Nephrologist Dr. G. Bhanushali and his respective secretary/administrative assistant Katrice. They both care enough to actually be concerned of my mother's health. The nursing staff has taken exceptional care of my mother. This is a high-volume hospital. I get that some people may get frustrated waiting an hour to be seen in the ER. I've been reading some of the reviews. Perhaps it would be of benefit to learn the definition of the word "triage" and "emergency". If my mom comes in with chest pain (she's old and has a history of cardiac issues) I would kind-of expect some attention be paid to her in some expedient fashion. If She cut her finger, she can wait so that other, more sick people can be seen and receive the attention they need and deserve. Not everyone's definition of an emergency is, so be patient. You shall be seen in order of severity. The providers I have mentioned are a credit to themselves, Holy Cross Hospital and the Sinai Health system. Be patient and respectful and I'm certain you shall receive the same exceptional care my mother has received.
I generally love this hospital for my prenatal care... there’s just this one security guard. She’s very rude and seems to like to do things her own way. She told my husband and one year old son they had to wait outside in the rain in 34° weather.. her words “you can’t have that baby in here, y’all gone have to wait outside, only the one being seen can be in here”. Just unprofessional and rude... after she went to the area I was heading to talk to the nurses and tell them I couldn’t have my son there because it would get her in trouble. Thing is I called ahead of time and was told it was fine to have him, as long as another adult was with us. After 20min of them waiting outside a head nurse escorted me to retrieve them both and informed the guard they actually could wait in the waiting room. She rolled her eyes and signed saying “whatever y’all do what ever y’all want to in here”. This isn’t the first negative experience either. She needs to go, the check in point was so unorganized. I went again today and the gentleman there though older and it being very busy kept the room in order. My very first time she wasn’t there and the order and service was better then as well
2 days ago, I went to the ER due to feeling dizzy and off balance, and heart palpitations. The doctor in the ER admitted me so I can be checked. I was scared because I didn’t know how they were gonna treat me because they been having bad reviews but omg they check me respect and manners. The nurses, doctors, residents, medical students and Physical Therapists were wonderful and understanding. They do their jobs with love and effort. They want to see you get better and take care of yourself. I love the people the 2 days I was there. They calm me down everytime, I was anxious or crying. The Discharge process was great, the nurse explain to me what steps and procedures I needed to do have being discharge, they give me better medication and a vitamin. The transportation people were also kind and talkative. The persons that did my x-rays, CT Scan and MRI. Were just nice and happy. I am satisfied and amazed. If my family has a medical emergency and goes there I will be comfortable and positive about them taking care of them. Blessing for this hospital to get more better reviews because they need it. Thank you for your help and care. God bless you guys.❤️
It is shocking to see the lack of care for patients in desperate need. My dad was visiting from abroad and fell really ill (he doesn't have insurance in the US) and despite we provided full medical history, my dad being in so much pain, nothing was done to him, they discharged us with nothing else. Only one staff member was courteous, but for everyone one else looked like it was an inconvenience and got a very bad vibe from some of them. My dad was so weak and nobody really checked on him while i was there unless i asked for someone to explain the process and to beg for a glass of water . We were waiting for blood work results that never came back to explain. After giving us discharge papers we were provided a wheelchair that was broken and was left alone to get my super weak and disoriented dad to move from bed to the wheelchair, no help or care at all, i had to wheel him back to my car with absolutely no treatment or explanation why he was being discharged. Complete negligence on their end, this will be reported to health department. If you care for your life or your loved ones, please do not bring them here.
This place is terrible, Security is Lazy. Its Filthy in there Those Medical professionals deserve a better work environment, they are doing their jobs. The other factions should do there's, Starting with a broom mop and sanitation!! Oh and The Prison seating in the waiting areas are an insult! I was absolutely appalled. If my relatives network hadn't insisted on him being there, we'd have left expeditiously!! Clean it up at least. 8/26/01 Update Why are there no functional wheel chairs? Why have a 80yr old weak patient trying to hold their legs up while the transporter yells "hold yo legs up" So damn degrading!! This Hospital cant even supply proper Wheel chairs!!! Food Service: My relative was served something they absolutely do not like, and was told to "eat that or starve" Family has had to bring food!! My elderly relative stated " I'm hungry and I cant eat this, please bring me food!!" Yall should be cited for cruelty towards the elders. I thought about calling. But for what? I read the other reviews this is not new to you, You all just do not care and clearly the Leadership is poor.
I cannot express enough how much we appreciate the wonderful care my father received during his recent visit to the ER. The staff had such a rapid response to his symptoms that he was taken care of immediately. The staff showed such an urgency & compassion for him which eased our nervousness. Updated information regarding results and next measures were remarkable. Because he had administered his insulin prior to going in and not yet eating they immediately ordered a meal tray. Staff member, Alex was very polite and precise in taking blood samples for labs(As we all know, some who aren't as skilled tend to poke us more than we'd like). Nurse Nancy was very understanding & professional in caring for my father. Dr. Cone and Kevin were very informative and took the time to explain the diagnosis as well as tests that were needed and the reasons why. Staff member Mark made us feel like family with tending not only to my father's medical needs but also making sure my mom was ok too. The professionalism and compassion displayed was exceptional. Thank you HCH ER staff. Angelica
Possibly the worst experience ever. I'm going to list my observations as a visitor in the ICU; the fact that anyone could walk in to the hospital without being questioned was the first red flag, none of the "staff" including drs have any bed side manors. The janitors are more professional than the "professionals". 3rd day here visiting my mother in law and I still cannot get a straight answer on her progress. During an episode where my mother in law had to be restrained because she was not sure of her surroundings 2 nurses decided to have a side bar conversation and laugh while trying to restrain her. Hmmm would they do that if it was their loved one? Why be in a profession that you are not able to perform the most simplest gesture of respect. And don't get me started on the staff that have conversations and use profanity. I can't imagine being a patient at this facility. I feel terrible for the few nurses that actually care about their patients. Good luck to all the patients that for lack of better options get stuck at this facility
The Mexican receptionist/nurse who I first met around 7am on 9/7/21 gave me absolutely terrible service. I decided to look up this hospital so I could tell them about this and I now see that this hospital has such low ratings. And it's for a good reason. The waiting area nurses are terrible. Absolutely awful. After I got away from that awful woman my doctors, and other nurses in the back were far less awful. They gave me great care. The only issue is the guy in the curtain next to me was complaining about having a rash that began spreading all over his body. And 24hrs after leaving the hospital for something entirely unrelated to a rash, I began feeling itchy. 48hrs after leaving I began to break out into a rash. Now it's been almost a week and I've had this rash spread all over my body. Pretty sure this is a case of hospital acquired infection. So while I received good care back there i left with something I didn't previously have. It sucks. Going to a different hospital.
First off I was searched 3 times & my lighter was stolen after the security guard said he would watch it because I couldn't take it inside. 2nd off The Triage Nurse was very caring & professional. 3rd off The receptionist where they bill you're insurance very disrespectful. If you don't like your job find a new profession. 4th off Nurses & Doctors very professional & caring. 5th off this hospital is not properly sanitized & dirty. There was piss on the toilet seat, floor, & changing table. Everything is old & is not updated. 6th of all I was chased by a person in a wheelchair that had mental health issues. He got out of the chair & started screaming & yelling things @ me while chasing me & instead of them trying to help him they kicked him out. I only went here because it was for my son but never again. Remodel do full background checks & renovate the place or CLOSE IT DOWN 0⭐️
I had the worst experience ever!!! I had an appointment yesterday for 4:00 - didn't get seen until after an hour or more of waiting.... The waiting room was super crowded and when I FINALLY seen the neurologist he was rushing me with a quick 5 minute visit, he didn't answer any of my questions, he just handed me papers concerning my results like I know what I'm reading..... He was being rude and unprofessional! Especially if I'm constantly telling him I'm in pain and has fallen a couple times. I asked him what should I do moving forward and he tells me YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE PARALYZED! I just looked at him because that was never my thought or question..... like I said worst experience ever and I didn't want to even give a star, but I had to in order to make a comment. On top of everything my questions WASN'T ANSWERED
If I could give this hospital 0 starts that's what they get not even 1. The registration desk is horrible. The lady is very rude and you can tell she hates her job. I had an appointment at 2:30 pm and I didn't get seen till 4pm. What's the point of making an appointment?? I got up to ask how much longer I needed to wait and the ladies in the desk where to busy gossiping. I waited until I had to interrupt and they were offended that I interrupted them. This is the worst service ever! I got lost in the hospital since it's my first time there and there was no security no one at the desks in the entrance. I had to changed my insurance just so I won't ever come back to this hospital. If you live near here drive the extra 20 minutes and head over to christ hospital!
This is the absolute WORST hospital you could ever go to. They had no interpreters for my dad while he was there so he called me to help him. This is ridiculous since this hospital is in a mixed neighborhood. Second the nurse that I spoke to on the phone to interpret had the worst attitude ever when I told her my dad was in pain and she stated she didn’t know why (with a terrible attitude) since they had given him pain killers. I clarified that I understood that but he was still in pain and eventually told her I would just pick up my dad and take him to a different hospital. Her customer service was one of the worst I’ve seen. Do not waste your time coming to this place and as others stated security is LAZY! Take a bit longer drive but avoid this place.
0 stars for the customer service! I went to emergency room after my car accident, the worst decision in my entire existence! I waited for 2 hours to be seen?!? What kind of emergency care or urgent care is that. And after 6 months they put my bill on collection. Look, I called 6 times to make sure that they would not, the attorney and was involved and they put that on their data base. After all that, I received a mail that my balance it due and on collection?!?! I made sure to call every month and told them about this case. They said everything is taking care of and I don’t even have to call that many times. Like really?!? So what happened? I got played? Don’t count the time u have to wait every call, it’s usually about an hour.
This hospital never ceases to amaze me on how ghetto fabulous it is. I came to visit a family member on the fifth floor and was told I could not bring in a robe, and some footies. My family member told me she was cold which prompted me to bring in the items. Also, I figured it’ll make her feel better being in some comfortable clothes. The lady at the check in desk had a very nasty demeanor. A bit of advice for Sinai health, place pleasant and professional people in areas which deal with the public and especially a place that’s a first point of contact. I have worked in healthcare since 2002 and still do and am embarrassed for this hospital’s administration. I will NEVER recommend this hospital to family and friends.
Would give it 0 stars if I could. Both my parents have been here over the last 5 years or so and my mom is there right now. The ER is so dirty and disorganized, but the nurses seemed compassionate and capable (doctors seemed quite lazy). It took them 12 hours to find a bed for her, which would have been fine except for how dirty the ER was. It's really difficult to get any usable information on her situation. I was also dismayed that I had my mom hit the nurse button as she pulled her O2 tube out of the wall and no one responded - I had to go get someone. Same thing happened to the lady in the bed next to my mom (not O2 tube, but something was alarming in her area). If you can avoid HC, do so and go to Christ.
The Holy Cross Clinic on Archer and Mayfield closed it's doors. I had a standing blood draw order there. The phone recording telling me that the clinic closed included ALL WRONG NUMBERS. I had no idea what to do. I called the hospital and was transferred to the inpatient blood bank. The woman that answered argues with me that the clinic is still open. I informed her the doors were closed for good. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she would not get one. She transferred me to outpatient, where I got the kindest and most helpful woman. She still did not know where my orders ended up, but I got some help. I do not want to deal with people that say they are transferring you, and our call goes no where.
It's terrifying to think that these people have anyone in their care. By far the most ghetto hospital I've had the misfortune of being in. You're lucky if you can get a nurse to bring you a cup of ice once during their entire shift. The shower was out of service, and everyone I asked about being able to shower somewhere would shrug it off. I was forced to go an entire week without bathing, except for a birdbath I took in the sink (which also barely worked.) Many of the nurses give the impression they don't want to be there. The night shift likes to give you a ton of sleeping pills at night so you won't bother them. I would rather die in the street from a gunshot wound than ever return here.
I should be able to rate 0 stars... ABSOLUTE HELL!!! I went to the emergency room and left before I could even be seen by a doctor because the nurse got mad she couldn't get blood from me and stormed out and proceeded to talk about me to other staff where I could hear them laughing at her saying that my "teeth look like she stole them from a horse" and she also said things about me that were way worse, but I'm too humiliated to post that here... I was so humiliated that I got dressed and left... DO NOT GO HERE!!! Also I have tried contacting the hospital to report her and none of my calls have been returned!!! At least I knew a lawyer would answer for me, so that's who I called!!!
I got transferred to this hospital via ambulance with a UTI and mild sepsis from a blood infection i had. There emergency room staff took great care of me and when i got transferred to a room as a patient i was worried that because of my infection i would probably not get the attetion i needed. To my surprise all staff and doctors during my three day stay were all so great that i have nothing else but gratitude for all of them. On my last day i beleive the nurse's name is Tasha, she answered all my questions and concerns with great knowledge and courtesy. I have nothing but great gratitude for there service and will recomend them evrywhere i go. Great Hospital.
My husband had out-patient eye surgery at this hospital. Every one of the 15-20 staff persons that we experienced (from the front door to the one-day surgery team, gift shop to the cafeteria, nurses, doctors, security, food service professionals, etc.) were cordial, helpful, and professional. I noticed that they treated other patients and each other in the same manor. We were very please with our experience at Holy Cross. At no point did we feel forgotten, un-imformed or delayed. As soon as my husband was recovered, the nurse wheeled him right to the front door. We didn't have to wait to be transported. I would go here again.
What a joke of a hospital. i called from another state to find out about a family member in the ER and the worker there was a complete unprofessional joke. She was rude on the phone, had no sympathy, didnt seem to care about what was being asked, couldnt even provide a phone to the patients room to speak to them since of HIPPA LAW. she kept hanging up on me when asked to speak to the department manager and when i called back she kept refusing the call so i could not get any information. i dont know how a patient is being discharged in less than an hour of being brought in thru ambulance from a seizure.
If I could give this hospital a zero I would. I passed out and my significant other called the ambulance. They took me to this hospital. We got here around 5:50pm. We are still here at 9:37pm. The employees are distasteful, they talk to you like they are talking to one of their friends on the street. Furthermore, the hospital is extremely dirty, they had to clear out the rooms a patient found bed bugs. When they called me to triage. They did not even change the sheets, and it was a big black spot on the sheets. I had to keep looking at the spot until she changed it. Please do not go here.
Dirty hospital. Came in for testing. Security guards unprofessional. They were loudly discussing how they didn’t know the process for seating because everyone does it differently. covid screening and even giving patients a number as they walk in was difficult for security guards. Came at 655 for a 730 appointment. Only one person registering at the window. When I came in number 79 was at the window at 7am. It is now 745 and they are only on number 81. My number is 82 and even though I arrived 35 minutes early for my appointment. I am now late and still waiting to register.
DO NOT GO HERE FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. the doctors and social worker take they sweet time and make excuses to keep you here and collect your money. The medication is supposed to make you sleepy so they can keep you here, they don’t want to help you at all and its disgusting. edit: They continuously give their patients “hope” of getting them out only to crush whatever feelings and cause meltdowns and give them “proof”. The people here are not meant to help you, They are here to keep you. This is a disgusting display of a hospital. If i could give zero stars i would.
I've filed an official complaint with the Illinois Department of Public Health regarding the unprofessional staff, unclean facilities, and Nursing Negligence. The Emergency Room Department staff needs to be thoroughly trained on appropriate patient care. Nurse Nancy Especially! Please choose another hospital if you can. This facility does not offer the best care and will leave patients mentally and emotionally distraught. Also, Please be sure to get a copy of your medical chart records to ensure that all information is accurate. Stay Away From This Hospital!
The night shift staff on the fourth floor are bullies . They are not nice, they belittle you. They try to anger you. I would call this section of the hospital very unprofessional. This is no way to conduct a job where you are supposed to be helping people. Instead they try to hurt people and make them feel obscure. I am very displeased, and I hope that the Hospital Administrator will take this review seriously. If not, I will have to be taking further measures. We could have a lawsuit on our hands. I will leave it at that. Thank you and have a nice day.
I was born in this hospital and things changed since then. I really love working with this nurse practitioner name Erin Craft otterbatcher and she was amazing when it came down to curing my skin and until this day I’m satisfied with what she recommended me when I seen her in my last appointment. I feel like the new doctor I have name maria peck should stand out more when it comes to emergency needs because I couldn’t get a hold of her when it came down to using the app to schedule an appointment with her right away everything was completely erased.
If I could give no star I would! The staff is so unprofessional ! They don't wash hands, they listen to loud music in triage while taking vitals, the bathrooms are always dirty with throw-up and when informed the staff does nothing but turn the cheek. They all talk loudly about the patients, and if you are doubling over in pain DO NOT COME HERE THEY WILL LITERALLY WATCH U DYING IN PAIN AND DO NOTHING. there is no compassion for patients ND these nurses barely know Common medical terminology, nor do they have the passion for their field. HORRIBLE!
It is not the first time that a patient goes to the emergency room, they return him home, and the next day, still feeling bad, he returns to the emergency room now if he is admitted. Night nurses talk about patients badly, they have no empathy at all. And even one of them told me that they did not have the service that I was occupying at the moment and that I should go to another hospital. they have no control over discharging the patient. And finally, the whole place is very dirty, as if the emergency rooms have not been cleaned for weeks. -⭐
Holy Cross is the worst Hospital in the city of Chicago. They should be sued for poor service. They also should closed down for good for the way they treat people in need of help. I'm never going back to that hospital again. I will be getting a lawyer to sue this hospital. The first time I was there, I had to wait 4 hours to see a doctor. I was in pain and asking for help and no one came to help. And the last time I was there I had to wait for a doctor for 6hours in pain. This hospital has to be closed for good. The worst Hospital in history.
I went for a assault last summer and I told the nurse my back was hurting as I was going to get X Rays he made a joke saying “you sure are in the right place for your back to be hurting”. Today I called to get a cops information so I could file a report because I finally felt comfortable the doctor says “I have no clue why your even trying to find the cop”. I cried and months later found out I had a broken tailbone and that’s why my back hurted. The Staff is super unprofessional to be taking care of actual people when it comes down to it.
Save your health, time and money and NEVER GO THERE!!! No follow up, unprofessional nurses, no paperwork submitted to insurance. Had to wait for an appointment for my biopsy for months, nobody would never return my calls. Anytime I would call asking when are they thinking I'll have the biopsy done they would always be on a cleaning day. It's been 6mo and they still didn't submit my paperwork to the insurance. Nobody seams to be working at that place! If they don't take a tumor serious, than I don't know what would be an emergency to them.
The worst experience I've ever had there I was there for only 16 days & got bed sores which sti healing from now most of the staff like to Pass you off to the next shift the nurses are rude as he'll but I did have 2 gr8 pct's that watched out for me! My fiance had to come & wash up because they slacking on the job! I took plenty of pictures of my bed sores & now I'm consulting a lawyer about my case! I even left a message to the president of the hospital & still no response! People please go somewhere else for hospital care if you can!
This hospital is terrible. I was left in the ER for hours while I had a room ready with a Turkey. When I finally moved up to a room the food was terrible. Half the call lights are broken or wired wrong. I have an open wound on my left. Saturday night I had a nightmare about being attacked by rats. I was thrashing around and not a single staff member checked on me. In addition they made fun of me for being homeless (which I'm not).then called me nasty for 15 minutes right by door. Terrible professionalism
My dad has been there 3x. And I have been very satisfied with the expertise of its doctors, especially in the ER! The food for patients looks, smells and tastes better than other hospitals my parents have been at. And that's important to me inorder to get their health back sooner. Rooms are clean, hospital is clean & bright. Not cluttered. Nursing staff is always nice, patient & caring. You don't have to be hunting them down for your loved one. I feel my loved one is well cared for and watched.
Went here for an emergency and behavioral health in the same visit. Not even an hour in there and they "lost" all of my belongings. Been there for at least 3-4 days and they "couldn't" find my belongings. Definitely about to take legal action since they don't seem to like answering phones for a whole week. Edit: They mailed my old ID. I'm flabbergasted especially since it was placed with all of my belongings so there is NO WAY they couldn't find my things while only finding my old ID
I went there last year while being diagnosed with vertigo they treated me for it. After I was treated 4 hours later they told me I could go home after I got discharged I asked a nurse for assistance to help me get to the front door and she said no u can do it. I was very dizzy and I had to walk to the front door by myself thinking I would have fainted, they didn’t do their best job and they didn’t try hard enough to make me feel safe. Never returning here again.
I will get a kick out of the chance to thank the whole staff in out persistent medical procedure, I had a Colonscope strategy done on 6-24-21. The staff were exceptionally expert and pleasant and graciousness. I will get a kick out of the chance to tell Holy Cross administration they have an awesome expert staff on the job. Keep doing awesome. I would prescribe this Hospital to my loved ones, additionally I will enlighten others concerning my great experience.
I would give zero if I could my wife literally ran out of there. the nurse helping her walked away but my wife could still hear her making fun of the way my wife looked. My wife no longer wants to go to hospitals and nearly died because she wouldn't go to a hospital after holy cross's treatment of her. Please if you value your health or you loved ones avoid hily cross at all cost. Its old dirty and the staff is horrible I wouldnt take my dog there
First time in a hospital in Chicago. I live in the suburbs. My daughter went by ambulance from a venue with panic attack. I went to pick her up in the wee hours of the morning. The nurse seemed pretty nice. My daughter said the staff treated her well, which they better have she is a minor. I was shocked at how unclean and unsanitary the er area is. I sure hope not all city hospitals are this dirty. Blood on the floor never cleaned up.
I was seriously wondering why people want this hospital to close, and today I had the answer, how is it possible that they send a sick person home if they don't feel well, because they don't have health insurance, the hospital believes that one does not have the right to do they take care of it? This is the second time something has happened there, once they let my pregnant mother lose the baby and she bleed to death in the corridor.
I would never come to this place my first time there and it was like some I never saw before and crazy I ran out that mf with my husband had patients walking around acting crazy nurses there all bad don’t help u with anything but doctors was ok but I would never have major surgery or anything there I feel like they trying kill me and that’s a fact.. bathroom was nasty everything about that place need updated from care to rooms
Don't even waste your time coming here, you shouldn't have to track down nurses and staff for simple services. The miscommunication amongst staff as well as patients are very troubling, they need to shut this hospital down or upgrade their ER services. The entire ER is FILTHY! Blood on the walls in the room where they draw blood, stains on the toilet seat and staff talking about patient business openly violating HIPPA LAWS.
It baffles me on how the laziest people in the world can attain a certain job that enables them to actually put in effort towards their medical career . They literally have no regards for certain patients sitting there for several hours. And to top it all off they just tell you to come back in for another check up in 5-6 months in a short 10 min conversation... The lack of service is unreal in this place.
All the staff have attitude, and very slow doctors and nurses. One could be literary dying and no one cares to check up on you and put you as priority. They don’t know how to take care of the urgent patients who need to be seen first vs the non urgent ones who have no visible physical trauma. Please be aware as this hospital will make you wait 4+ hours to be seen by anyone! Horrible, horrible, horrible!
I will like to thank the entire staff in out patient surgery, I had a Colonscope procedure done on 6-24-21. The staff were very professional and nice and courtesy. I will like to let Holy Cross management know they have a very good professional staff on duty. Keep up the good work. I would recommend this Hospital to my friends and family, also i will tell other people about my good experience.
I got call to give my insurance and all to get the attention I need. She handle me another insurance paper went I see I told her this is not my insurance she have say sign anyway I’m not sign no paper that is not correct and she took the paper from blue cross blue shield that I was filling with my info wrote my County care member on a post it and didn’t throw it away carefull what u signing
The staff is terrible. The social workers give you very limited information and act like you are aggravating them by asking questions. I had this experience with the social worker by the name of Maria. No compassion, pca tech has attitudes for no reason. This is the closest hospital in my area so the ambulance first choice but definitely never a choice of mines.
My father was specifically sent here for low-oxygen after cardiac arrest. Not only did staff forget to put on the oxygen concentrator for my dad but when my mom (thankfully) noticed my dad struggling to breathe, and alerted a nurse, she had an attitude and was reluctant to help. I understand that staff is overworked but this is unacceptable.
I was admitted to the hospital in Oct 2022. The room was terrible the staff was not friendly either. I have stayed in this hospital times before, there is a lot of upgrading they should do. The chair in my room for visitor to sit in did not have a cushion the room stayed cold. It's very sad to see this hospital go down the way it has.
This is the second worst hospital in Chicago. The ER was decent. The hospital itself is horrible. I have emphysema but got no medication for the except in the ER. It had gotten so bad that I had a very hard time breathing in spite of the oxygen. I was told that I tested positive for COVID. My suggestion:. Go to a hospital in the burbs
The only person that was on top of patients care was a nurse named Aeysha. Everyone else was so careless and just laughing and chatting. I was with my father in the ER and he got nauseous and threw up, I asked for help and got handed 2 towels and 0 assistance. I had to keep asking for updates and no real care or interest was shown.
Worst hospital ever!!!Dirty.Staff unprofessional. Not one helpful being. Unless shooting a patient with 5grams of morphine every 5 hours is help. This place has nice nurses singing Christmas songs in the middle of the night LOUDLY.Telling patients to urinate themselves til someone can get to them.Yeah for Healthcare in Illinois
- Communication - POOR - Chart updates - POOR -Reading charts - AWFUL (I have to make sure to keep proper notes to share w/the next shift) - Admissions - will put bare minimum when arriving by ambulance - They will pick and choose who to give information to or withhold information By far the worse hospital to deal with.
I pray to god i never have to trust this hospital ever again n my life n esp wit someone else life they took it i pray i dont ever have to go back here nor there other hospital they took away the only good doctor they had n put a bunch of none working not knowing way to do as doctors this places i hate this place
The holy cross hospital has been good to me. Although there's times that I really be needing you guys help physically. When I look at some of you guys I get uncomfortable with the facial expressions you be giving me although I would still rate it as a 6/6. You guys have helped me through a lot.
This by far was the most horrific experience I’ve ever encountered in my life. The hostile nature and disrespect of the nursing staff was overwhelming. My mothers dialysis machine stopped working and it was outdated. Cafeteria is inoperable. The hospital needs to be shut down.
I would give zero starts. Please don’t go to this hospital what so ever. Some Nurses are rude and racist and I have a video that proves it. They don’t inform nothing to family members and if their in the covid floor 5th floor you won’t be hable to project your love ones.
I use to think that this hospital was rated the best because they use to get me in and out but they are indeed the worst. I came here for an ultrasound around 2pm it’s 4PM & i still haven’t been called to be seen . I’ll never come back here ever again.
My Dr. DeLeon I've had for over 10 years. My service is great! If she ever leaves, I will be leaving Holy Cross. Other services I've had was good also, signing in and patient service. I just will not go all the way to Mt Sinai for other services.
Worse experience of our lives! Left feeling like the doctors are incompetent, heartless and negligent! We had the hospice voltures trying to convince us it's time. The doctors telling us that she lived a long time n it's time to let her go,
I was sexually harassed while I was sick with Colitis about 8 years ago in this hospital. I was admitted to a room with no roommate and the man that came into my room to serve me breakfast, started talking about/asking vulgar, inappropriate
PEOPLE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS AND/OR TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES TO A REAL HOSPITAL!!! I would give this place NEGATIVE stars if I could because 0 is too high! This is a horrible facility, I don't understand how it is still functioning. The
STAY AWAY IF POSSIBLE!!! I would give the office of Dr Mohan in Holy Cross a -10 if I could! Never in my life have I ever seen such an unprofessional Drs office! My mother's first appointment was scheduled for 3pm. We get there at 2:45 pm
DO NOT GO HEREEEEE!! I SHOULDVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE I CAME THE HOSPITAL IS FILTHY I WENT FOR BACK AND ABDOMINAL PAIN IM 6MONTHS PREGNANT AND AS SOON AS I WAS TRANSPORTED TO TRIAGE I WAS GREETED BY A VERY VERYYY RUDE NURSE WITH A STANK
In 2016 I was hospitalized 3 times. Eventually my problem required surgery. Dr.Dekoj and his staff treated me with excellent care. I was hospitalized for a 4th time in August because of the surgery. Everyone on the 4th floor made my stay
The WORST hospital! No A/C in certain wings, rude staff who move with no sense of urgency. Dirty hospital, trash all over the floor. Also , even if you have an appointment be prepared to take a number and wait almost 1hr to be checked in!
DO NOT BRING YOUR COVID LOVED ONES HERE! DRIVE!! If they are older they will tell you there's no hope, we were told my grandfather had already lived a long life. The doctor's are incompetent, they do not try to help or answer questions
Went there once with no insurance and was treated terribly,I have 3 heart conditions and some other stuff going on,and they were more concerned with their payment then my supraventra tachy cardia. I had several doctors ask me how was I
My mom was here this past weekend and she was surprisingly pleased with the treatment. She said the staff was very patient and supportive, she couldn't stop talking the hospitality. Our family is well pleased with how she was treated.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW SOMEONE CAN WALK IN PERFECTLY FINE TO GET MEDICATION AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THINGS HAPPENED TO THEM THAT’S NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. NURSES WERE SO RUDE, treat their patients without care. What’s the point of you
my grandmother fell in their care and they did not tell me. Seems so hard to get some kind of information from them when its asked for, especially when a family member cant be there because the patient has COVID. horrible
My DAD here now this second time clothes missing he's waiting be transferred this is totally ridiculous. Horace Lathan is patient...He also blind needs assistance eating every time come has tray food.
This post is for my sister Pamela Jarriett. She was in for wound care for her legs on the 5th floor. 505 bed 2. Shout out to all the nurses and doctors, physical therapy and technical assistancas . .
Unsanitary, devices/scanners were broke, bathrooms are not cleaned properly....even the paper towel dispensers were not functional. Wouldn't send my worst enemy here.
The staff were amazing. Everyone was very polite and went the extra mile to make sure I had everything I needed. It also didn’t take long to get serviced.
I was in the ICU a few years ago. The staff and the services were not bad, but I did have issue with that young asian female nurse (never knew her name).
Bad service here been in the emergency room for over 15 hours they been saying we are about to get a room and no room bad service here !!!!
I'm a patient here tonight from out of town. I feel like I'm in a 1950s prison hospital. Old and really not very clean for a hospital.
Entrance to Hospital is so dark, Suggestion to administrators to consider making more bright and inviting.
They was fast it best to come at night around 9pm!!! Every one was nice
Ghetto Ghetto and Ghetto !!! Horrible service No cafeteria
