Was surprised by how tasty this Chinese bakery was. Never knew about this bakery until a coworker mentioned their wife cake, and since I was heading to YEG might as well stop in and give them a try. When we walked in the smell of fresh bakery was yum, there was also a decent line up to order so that's always a good sign. We we're definitely pleasantly surprised by how tasty everything was. The buns had a lot of filing and a nice flavor and reheated nicely with a soft center and crispy outside which is awesome because we picked up way to many thing in Edmonton to eat in one day even two day. The wife cake was also really good, not to sweet, not to soft and has a nice chew to it, even my mom said it was really good.

I got the assorted box during the Chinatown Dining Week and they are so amazing. It’s worth the hype. I definitely come back for the pork bun, and the cream bun. The macarons are surprisingly good. The matcha one actually tastes like matcha. Only for $10 but I got so many inside the box. Im excited to try the egg tart next time I’m there, and the cakes there as well. Everything is only around $2. They make all of them in the morning for the whole day so make sure to come there as soon as possible to get the one you want before they ran out. The only downside is I have to pay by cash. I don’t know if it’s only for that day or it’s like that. So thats something to keep in mind when visit there

2022 June 3.5★ It's a hit and miss with this place. There are some items very good, some good and others just bad. The place isn't too big, but serves a variety of buns, cakes and other foods. Ordered different buns, the buns were a bit flat. The BBQ pork bun didn't have enough meat. Some of the buns tasted better than others. Had the white sugar cake 白糖糕 it was perfectly sweet, good flavors and springy. This was good. The egg tarts were the best. Lots of egg flavor and the custard was very good. Would recommend this. Not bad, but have had better. Though the egg tarts were amazing. Worth a try.

Hong Kong Bakery is hands down my favourite HK-style bakery in Edmonton. The price point is honestly great and I've never been disappointed with anything. It's a cute little shop in Edmonton's Chinatown. If I had to pick my favourite item, it would be the [Pork and Shrimp Dumpling - 咸水角] ($1.10). It's a glutinous rice dumpling fried to perfection! It's super chewy and has a delicious filling. I literally think about this in bed. I also recommend the BBQ Pork Bun, Curry Beef Pie and Custard Pineapple Bun.

Just started ordering from these guys on Doordash because it is very close to my house and I have never been dissapointed. I try out something different every time. Super delicious food, it arrives packaged neatly and it arrives FAST. My favorite menu item thus far is the bbq pork bun, its served as a sweet (brioche?) Bun and comes stuffed with bbq pork. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for something a bit different and if you like supporting smaller local businesses.

Pastry is good, but the older white Asian woman is bad ,she did mistake when I call in that day they were close and next morning I did call again tell them so they ask me to come by pick up the right one but she wasn't happy talked in cantonese bad thing about me. Then I told her not to say bad things about me when I understood all thething she was talking about... most of the time when they talked in other languages they talk bad thing. I hate it..

We stopped in here today looking for mochi. We didnt find any but we found at least 50 items that looked amazing. So we bought some and had a hard time not buying everything. We had bbq pork Buns that had soft fluffy bread. Coconut cream Buns with real cream and super soft bun. Heavenly. I couldnt eat more but im looking forward to the Red bean cake. I love Red bean! Alot of the Desserts have whipped cream and I love that! Come here. It's good.

This bakery does have good pastries, the place looks good and clean! I recommend the custard buns they're absolutely delicious my only complaint and the reason that I'm not giving them 5 stars is that they DO NOT accept debit or credit, Wich is ridiculous! C'mon it's 2021 and we are in the middle of a pandemic. You'll have to get cash and there is a little ATM inside the bakery which charges you 2.50 to take cash out.

I was a bit taken aback by the $2 per bun as I’ve been spoiled with buns that are at most, $1.50 but I must say, they are worth it! The bread and meat ratio was even and the bread was a bit sweet and soft. There were a lot of varieties to choose from, we walked out with a box of buns, cake and egg tarts. Will definitely come back for more!

There's a reason this place has been a beloved standby for so long. The most scrumptious and fresh baked goods. My personal favorites are the BBQ pork buns, egg tarts, and pastries (BBQ pork, winter melon, red bean). They have a large selection so there will be something to suit every palate! Cash only.

  • Gez Veliu

Cash only place with a ATM inside so you can pay $2.20 to pull money out, just so you can pay them and they pay no taxes on it while they send money to china.

Super impressed with my treats I purchased there this morning. Delicious coconut buns, bbq pork buns and curry beef bun. Fantastic prices and everything was super fresh. Two very kind ladies who served me as well. I’ll definitely be back soon with my $1.50 ❤️ Thanks again …

This is the longest surviving Chinese bakery in the city's Chinatown district dating back to the 1980s spanning 4 decades. Their oriental bakery products and pastries are made fresh daily and they are all above average quality. I recommend trying the ethnic varieties

Went to grab some food in the area and stopped in for pastries and sticky rice. The bbq pork sticky rice had mold throughout and the chicken sticky rice looked like it was on the verge of developing mold… quality used to be great. Not so much anymore.

  • Jacob Ulickij

Very friendly and helpful service. Huge selection, none of which underwhelming. Very rich flavors, fresh, and with a satisfying creaminess in all of their coconut and stuffed foods. A great vibe, generous hours, relaxed and easy. Remember — Cash only!

This place used to be really good but it seems like it's going downhill the last few times I've been here. all the stuff that I get that is deep fried is really dark and it seems like they're using dirty oil. There's a few other bakeries in

Just ordered off uber eats, driver did great food arrived un touched and it looked great, but honestly the stuff from the Hong Kong bakery on the Southside was so much better, my bbq pork buns where cold from here, took one bite and tossed

We used to always buy Old Wife Cakes from a well known place in Vancouver. Until one day my inlaws brought some home from this Bakery. Wow! The pastry and filling is perfect. I've tried T&T's, but the pastry and filling ratio is a bit off.

We went to the Taste of Edmonton festival, and the Hong Kong Bakery had a booth there. We tried their Green Onion Cakes, and they were delicious. We decided to pay a visit to the actual bakery and get some cakes to take home. We bought two

This place is great for all your Chinese bakery needs. They have custom cakes, pastries, baked goods, etc. They are made fresh daily. Go early to make sure they’re not out of what you want! My personal favourites are the flaky pastry egg

  • Reale Redlance

Cash only! Bring a ten dollar bill and leave totally satisfied, just try the meat buns bro. Trust me. Many a saturday I would walk down to this shop and pick up my favorite snacks, then pick away at them all day during a serious gaming

Quick stop for golden baked BBQ pork buns. FREE STREET PARKING for 2hrs during the day, just enter your lic plate in the meter box (instead of the City of Edmonton parking app). A convenient surprise!

My recent short trip to Edmonton was very fruitful. I pre-ordered some bakery goods for pick up on that day. Upon arrival all the items are all accounted for & the goodies were delicious as always.

  • Julie Ali

I haven't been to this bakery for a while as the prices had gone up and the quality had gone down. Usually I write only good reviews but the food I got today required a poor
