PLUS SIZE REVIEW: 28/30. While my experience left me feeling a bit on edge and unsafe I would stay here again, I think my experience was a bit of a flop. Firstly, its very hard to reach someone at the desk. So keep that in mind. When I arrived at 10-11am to drop my bags off I had to call and was under the impression that bo one was there. There was someone else who was staying sitting in the entry way who let me in when I showed him my printed reservation. Once I sat down someone came running out. This gentleman was friendly and showed me how things work. As a plus size woman i was expecting it to feel and be ultra tight and uncomfortable but it was the opposite!! Pros: The bed was super comfy and pillows were perfectly fluffy and supportive. This isnt your all luxurious, ample amenities type of place but very nice for backpackers!! I loved they had a little cubby up to hold all of your gadgets and a little trash can in the room. I didnt experience any noise at night and felt super cozy. Cons: I couldnt figure out until morning how to work the tv. (Ear plugs must be plugged into the little hole on the USB port thats on the wall). It got really hot at night. The lock inside my room was broke so I felt super unsafe. (Stayed in room 1003) Also my extention cord would not fit into the ONE outlet in the room. However my adapter did. I could charge only one thing. But after a while I noticed my phone was indeed losing power. So at 2am I was forced to leave my unlocked room to go leave my phone and battery pack charging in the common area. I hated this!!! My self and my only source of help and navigation was left up to the universe. Thankfully all was well and everything was fully charged within 2 hours. The first bathroom is cleaner than the 2nd. But my suggestion would be that someone needs to clean up/check in on the bathrooms every hour or two. When i walked in there was water all over the counters and you can tell a man had peed from the pee splatters on the toilet. I get that backpackers are an on the go type but that shouldnt mean we lessen standards to be dirty or unsafe. No one was at the desk when I left early in the morning which didnt surprise me. I paid $116.23 for one night which is more than I would pay for a quality inn in most cities. I understand I was paying more for the fabulous location but at $116 I would have liked to feel safe, have my stuff charging and a cleaner bathroom. Over all i gove it a 5 out of 10. Not the best but far from the worst. Minor improvments to be made. But I did enjoy my stay

I stayed here just over a year ago but I'm seeing I didn't leave a review. I think about this place frequently, it's very unique here in America, in this instance it was exactly what I was looking for. I was taking a greyhound bus into town for the night, I needed a place to stay solo. I got a room here for around $100. That's my first bone of contention, the location is nice but I imagine at $50-75 a night this place would be packed every night. My only complaint about the entire experience is that when I was assigned a room I opened it and it was dirty. The attendant said it was a mistake and asked me to wait 15 minutes while it was remedied. Kind of alarming in post pandemic times when a 15 minute cleaning is all it takes regardless of room size. It was fine, like I mentioned above I was commuting via bus so I could use the shower. I took a nice hot shower in the community (not super clean) shower facilities. When I got out my room was ready. I stored my stuff, laid down for a bit and headed out for my next adventure. When I returned it was late, everything was fine. I went right to my room and laid down... exhausted. It wasn't the best night's sleep but I don't fault the property for that at all. The next morning I was ready to go. Again, I'd stay here anytime I'm in Chicago traveling alone unless there was an Airbnb nearby but know what you're getting into. This is very no frills. I loved it.

This is not a hotel in an usual sense, it's more like a private room, very small private room with a shared bath in the hallway. The staff is friendly and helpful. Spend a little more, and get the bigger room with queen bed especially if you're not traveling alone. The location is very good, right before the edge of downtown but quiet and safe. There are several busses almost right in front of the hotel. The L train is few blocks away, near Trader Joe's,a short walk. The transfer station is one over. The best part is Grant Park is a block away, and to get you a better idea > the famous Hilton Hotel is 2-3 blocks away. If you're planning to spend a lot of time in the hotel, this is not the place for you but if you're looking to save some money and just a place to sleep, here's the place.

Nearby activities
Downtown, the loop, is a short bus ride 10, 15 during rush hour. Grant Park, the Buckingham Fountain, the Millennium, and several museums are on the way to DT. It's on Michigan Ave., the main Chicago arterialy.
Safety
Very safe walkable neighborhood on the main road. A college next door, the Hilton is 2-3 blocks away.
Walkability
Safe, that is all I have to say.

This place is pretty cool if you are by yourself or with another person that is not fearful of small places, it is just a room that fits a bed and a TV and a mirror TV is set up with off performance of smart TV, and connect to a Bluetooth headset or a wired auxiliary headset, door to room is equipped with features like Do not disturb, please clean room etc. memory foam beds, shared bathroom, and you gotta pay for $15 parking. I love the style and the comfort to be had, HOWEVER: its not worth the price because the same price gets you your own bathroom (2 units shared between facility), air conditioning (your room slowly heats until unbreathable), and autonomy cause if you leave the hotel and come back you may have to call the staff cause they have to let you in, your room key will not get you into facility. I tried it for a night, i like the style, but AC is essential for me, had i known each of these things about the hotel beforehand I would not have stayed here for price and comfort. Its probably in the best location though, right in the city. Try it a night, judge it yourself.

I was not entirely sure what to expect when I decided to book my stay here. All I knew was that the location looked amazing and the price couldn't be beat. The manager let me check in a little earlier than usual which was a life saver because I had to check out of my other hotel earlier than expected and had nowhere to go with my luggage. The room was small as advertised but comfortable and just enough for a solo traveler. The manager informed me that there were six other people staying at the same time as me, but I didn't hear a single noise during my stay or had any issues getting to the two shared bathrooms. My only criticism was that the water did not get as hot as I would have liked in the shower, but no one dies over a lukewarm shower. This place is a 15 - 20 minute walk from the Fields Museum, Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium so I didn't have to spend money on Ubers to get to explore those attractions. I would definitely recommend this place to any solo travelers.

Can't beat the price for the location! You get what is advertised, a very small room with just a bed. The shared bathrooms weren't super clean, and the rooms get pretty warm during the day. The bed was not super comfy either. But it all did the trick, and that's all I'm asking for when I stay here. If you want any amenities or higher level of comfort, stay at any of the hotels down the street for twice or triple the price. Definitely recommend bringing earplugs and a sleep mask - I didn't have any sound problems but I always bring earplugs everywhere, and the LED buttons on the mirror are pretty bright and don't shut off so the sleep mask was a lifesaver

Perfect location. Serviceable rooms. Surprisingly quiet. I didn't have to speak to a soul. Good wifi. AC wasn't too bad. My room was very clean. I wish I knew there was parking in the back. I didn't realize until I was leaving. It is a microtel and there are shared bathrooms. If I had a noisy or inconsiderate neighbor it would have been a nightmare. My biggest complaint is the absurdly bright blue light on the room's mirror. As far as I could tell there was no way to turn it off. If I didn't bring a blindfold I would have never slept.

With less than a week to go before the event I was attending, I got a notice out of the blue that my reservation was canceled. No explanation. I tried calling multiple times and there was never an answer. When I got to the city I stopped in to see if I could get an answer. No one was at the front counter so I was stonewalled again. The only other properties left were fleabags, hostels or expensive places at over $300. I'm not paying that just for a bed. This place is really shady with equally shady management. It needs to get shut down. Don't give them your business.

Great location downtown Chicago. Within walking distance of Soldier Field and Shedd Aquarium. Perfect if you’re just staying by yourself and need a quick place to sleep. Didn’t like that I had to share a bathroom and shower with others, but life goes on. Room was tiny, but like I said, if you need a last minute place to stay this is a good choice.

I think this is a love-it-or-hate-it kind of place, and I fall into the love it category. I truly relished staying in my clean, white cocoon for a long layover and getting a restful sleep. I felt safe and I had everything I needed. Tony on staff was super nice and happy to explain how to use the remote controls, etc, and retrieve a pair of headphones for me. I called to make a reservation directly, which saved me money. I'll be back very soon. Thanks again for everything!

Really nice little hotel the location for the price is amazing! Only thing I was a little not happy about was the light in the room at night due to the mirror button was too bright. And sometimes it was a bit cold. But other than that this hotel is perfect for a shot stay if you dont have too much luggage with you! Would recommend.

As others have said, this place rocks for location. Is it a full hotel room with views, room to spread out, etc? No, and they don't claim to be. You cannot beat the location and the price. On top of that, it wasn't a bad place to stay for a few nights. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

I had a really good experience here! Everything was very clean and comfy!!! The gentleman who checked me in was ultra helpful! I’d definitely stay here again and save a few hundred bucks when I stay in downtown again! Parking was only $15 and very east vs most hotels in the area charging $60.

This was a great location. I spent my day mostly outside exploring the city. Lots of restaurants and places to take care of business all around. The owner was very accommodating. I highly recommend it for a place close to downtown that is very affordable!

This is an extremely tiny hotel, for $80 a night. It's exactly what you expect in downtown Chicago. The room has a smart TV and a smart mirror.

Manager was nice & had easy access to building, but rooms got hot and ceiling fan did nothing. Bathrooms were not terrible but not great. Woke up with ants on my stuff in the morning.
