Firstly, house of keys outsources their locksmith technicians and they honestly have no idea who comes to your door to service you and you have no recourse when something bad goes down. Would you trust your locks and keys with a company who doesn’t know who their techs are? I won’t. The technician who came didn’t even know who house of keys was. She said she worked with many companies. Each technician charges their own rates which is why house of keys won’t tell you an estimate up front. The prices can vary greatly and so can their competence. This technician wanted to charge me $300. We eventually agreed on $220 for cutting and programming 2 cars keys, which I already had blank key fobs for. The key was not cut well and subsequently had issues inserting it into the ignition without having to jiggle it in just right. See photo for comparison. Then the tech was not able to program the transponders(security chip) on the keys. Probably because of the badly cut keys. The tech wanted to charge me for both keys even though they didn’t work. She even held my original keys hostage until I would pay her. A seriously questionable practice. When I called house of keys, the call centre could only submit the case to management. They said they couldn’t even call the technician even if they wanted to because they didn’t know who it was. I had to work it out with the technician and her manager who didn’t work for house of keys either. Eventually I paid $110, just to get my keys back. I would be perfectly happy to pay $30-50 for their time even if the result was unsuccessful, but their practices left a bad taste. Not a company to trust for important things like your locks and keys.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! DONT DO BUSNIESS WITH THEM! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I WAS JUST THREATENED TO HAVE PEOPLE COME SUPER GLUE MY DOOR FOR LEAVING A BAD REVIEW. Man this has been the worst experience I've had with a company EVER! First I called Tuesday to have a locksmith come out, a tech called me and said that they would be here around 1pm, never showed up. The next day they called and said they were supposed to had been out here on Tuesday, but the job they had took longer than expected, so they needed to schedule me in for Thursday. I said ok, they scheduled me for Thursday at 12pm. A tech called me and said he could be out here on Thursday at 1 or 130p. A guy finally showed up at 1:50pm. He charged me $300+ for changing a deadbolt and door handle. I spoke with the tech and told him i needed my key to work on that new lock, he said no problem he would get it done but it would take longer, about 2 hrs. He finally said he would have to come back the next day (today) between 11 and 12 to finish the job. I get a call at 1pm from a tech asking if what the problem was and saying he needed to give me a quote for rekeying my new lock? i was so confused, because the previous tech said it was included in the install. Anyway, i called for service on tuesday, its friday at 1:30pm and the service hasnt been done. Pretty upset with the horrible service so far.

I had an appointment for a locksmith to cut the lock at a storage unit (I had lost the key). The locksmith Jose never called to tell me he’d be late, and it wasn’t until 30 minutes after our first appointment time (as I’m just sitting in the storage parking lot) that he finally called. He promised he would be there an hour later (1.5 hours after our appointment time) but didn’t show up at that time, either — and again I had to call him to find out he was on his way and would be another 30 minutes late. He finally showed up 2 hours after the appointment time, and he upcharged me on the spot. $225 to have one lock cut. I felt like he exploited the situation. I’m giving 2 stars because he did cut the lock eventually but getting there was a pain. The House of Keys dispatchers weren’t very helpful and kept referring me to the locksmith to find out what time he’d be there.

I had a wonderful experience dealing with the associates at house of keys. Laura really made my day as easy as possible after I locked my own keys in my car. It was so hot but she came fast she was nice and she got in my car in no time. They even gave me a discounted price. If you’re ever locked out of your car please call these people! Needed a service done couldn’t get into my apartment and I called HouseofKeys Locksmith and someone got back to me right away. The tech said he would be here in 30 minutes. After waiting an hour, my friend called back. He said it would be another 20 minutes. The tech was here in the 20 minutes. It took about 7 minutes to get the car open. Then charged $165.00. Seems overpriced to me.
